We came here as a late lunch early dinner combo. 3 adults 2 teenagers 2 grilled salmon 3 the grill burger While we only asked for one burger without veggies all of them came out without which was annoying. The fries were really good. We had a side of cauliflower and the mushrooms. The cauliflower could have used more flavor and the mushrooms were too heavy on the wine flavor. The place was very busy when we came in and service was a little slow but understandable. It's really nice sitting outside of the weather allows.
I selected this place based on the reviews. There is valet parking, some street parking or a parking garage. We were able to get reservations which was nice and decided to sit on the patio. It was great weather to sit and chill outside and look at the water while enjoying lovely food. The service was great, our waitress was friendly, checked in and kept our water full. The pacing of food was good as well. I really enjoyed the crab deviled eggs. They were creamy and yummy. My filet was cooked perfectly and paired so well with the green beans and the sweet potatoes. The sweet potato sauce was so good. The chimichurri with my steak was nicely done. We tried the sorbet for dessert and got the seasonal options of blood orange and raspberry and it was a great way to end the meal. It was worth every penny.
We dined here on a Saturday after exploring The Wharf. I booked a reservation for lunch, so there was no wait and we were promptly seated on the patio. Being as I seldom get weekend days off, it totally did not occur to me that it would be more of a brunch menu than a traditional lunch menu- which was totally fine. We were starving so we started out with the Three Cheese Crab Fondue as an appetizer. It was really good- and definitely really hearty. There was an ample amount of lump crab meat in the dip, so we definitely got our money's worth. If you love melty cheese and crab- you'll love it. The only downside was the bread was on the unimaginative side. To have a stellar fondue and have a meh bread to put it on undermines the dish as a whole. For my entree I got the Coconut Cardamom French Toast. This was a truly elevated FT variety and was a five-star dish all the way. It wasn't too sweet and was like something you'd get at a luxury resort. Service was fine. Our waiter was good and a manager came by to check on us. Since we dined on the patio, this is a great place to people watch, but just be mindful of the time of day. We were fortunate to have a table where we were shaded from the sun, but some of the other tables seem to be right in the blaze of mid-day. Overall the grill is a nice place and the food was very good. I'd definitely be back sometime to try other things on the menu.
The Grill serves up solid food and service. I visited on a very busy Saturday night with a reservation for 6 people at 6:30 PM. I tried the lobster roll ($39) and Cajun Branzino ($49) and both were good. The lobster roll was Maine-style -- cold with mayo -- which is not my preferred style, but it was still pretty good. The side of fries were great -- crispy and well-seasoned. I liked that the lobster roll had a specific price on the menu and not just "MP." The branzino was also very good. Everyone else had good things to say about their dishes, which included the clam chowder, seafood linguini, and caesar salads. Service was good but uneven in spots; there were some nice touches, but also a few misses. For example, they poured the canned beer for us tableside and remembered a guest's birthday with a small slice of cheesecake (free). But, they forgot crackers to go with the clam chowder, didn't deliver dishes to the correct people, and were a few minutes late bringing the last entree after all the others had arrived. It was a busy night, but also they should be used to that. We sat in the back dining area and the ambiance was fine.
This is a beautiful restaurant right on the water with great indoor and outdoor seating. The bar is really pretty too. The customer service was great from check in to table service from Kalil. There were some hit and miss items that we had, but the Cajun Branzino was so delicious and perfectly seasoned and cooked. We ordered the mussels and the sauce was creamy which was not expected was not appealing at all. The wedge salad was super fresh and tasty! We also ordered All the Bites and everything was good except for the bacon wrapped dates. I'm not sure what they were stuffed with, but that should be noted on the menu. We were not a fan. Dessert was decent. The lime pie was beautiful decorated and the sorbet was to be expected. I'd definitely return for the fish.
Very vast menu. The cocktails are excellent. They specialize in martinis. The "dirty little secret" martini their basic house martini is surprisingly high level! It's way better than any other high end martini I have had at other martini specialized bars. Food is great quality. The crab fondue is perfect for 2 people to share. Excellent service. Chelsea goes above and beyond! Definitely a 1st class bartender. My wife and I like the low key lighting and atmosphere. Bar seating is plentiful with views of the water. They offer happy hour and dinner specials. Outdoor seating is available when it's warmer! Lastly, They have allagash white beer on tap! I usually go for martinis while I am here. But one day, will make an exception. This is a solid place for a local to frequent.
Very nicely decorated restaurant located in the Wharf. They have a special going (I think) from 4 - 6 pm every day for $39.00: you can select from a limited menu 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 dessert. Awesome deal! I got a side salad with their house tomato vinegar dressing, the half chicken and a trio of ice cream scoops. Everything was seasoned well, I would say that the chicken tho was very dry. Service was great! I would check this place out for that daily deal alone. IYKYK!
The food is really good but the place is pricey for lunch. I had the house made vegetable burger with sauteed cauliflower with pine nuts. My dining companions had burgers. Everything was delicious and the service was top notch. The menu is varies with something for everyone. The dining area is on the nicer side and right on the wharf.
I met up with a girl friend of mine who I haven't seen in months. We enjoyed the grill punch, while munching on spicy tuna bites and splitting the grill burger. The environment was quiet -- perfect for a girl friend date -- even romantic date. The staff were friendly...I would say they probably weren't as attentive even though the bar was pretty empty...though my friend and I were chatting up a storm. So many they didn't want to bother us. Overall, great experience. I would definitely go back for happy hour again.
I stopped by The Grill at the Harbor while visiting The Wharf, craving a good steak. I ordered the New York Strip, cooked medium-well, and while the price was steep at $51, I was really in the mood for steak, so I went for it. The ambience was very nice relaxed and upscale without being too formal. The crowd was minimal, which made for a quiet dining experience. My server was polite, though not particularly engaging or attentive. The steak itself was decent, though not necessarily memorable for the price point. That said, this seems like a great spot for drinks at the bar especially if you're already walking around The Wharf and looking for a place to unwind. Overall, I'd recommend this spot more for cocktails and atmosphere than for the food alone unless you're really craving steak like I was.
So, this is just another restaurant /bar on the District Wharf, that being said the food was quite tasty. The Mussel's .... they were mouth watering fantastic and what made it so good was the white wine, blue cheese, chipotle, cream sauce that they were soaking in. The Lamb kabobs with very tasty. The Grill Burger was good. Overall, really enjoyed our time here. Staff was great, especially David, our server. He was very attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable and very welcoming. We would stop here again and try their grilled upside down pineapple cake.
First time eating at the Wharf and I must say, it was great! The weather was perfect on Sunday around 1130/12 and it wasn't packed! Our waitress was super nice but talked a bit low but food came out perfectly! It's not cheap but it's definitely quality and you will leave satiated! We are now on the Washington, DC leg of our vacation, arriving this afternoon. After a walk along The Wharf, we stopped at @thegrilldc for dinner. A fine dining restaurant along the Potomac, it signature feature is the pecan wood-fried grill. We started off with a couple of apps, the Royal Deviled Eggs and Lamb Skewers. The Royal Deviled Eggs are your traditional deviled egg fancied up a bit with the egg white being stuffed with duck liver mousse and topped with the whipped egg yolks and a bit of caviar. Delicious and salty with a nice pop of the caviar. The Lamb Skewers are grilled and served with a house-made tzatziki dipping sauce. Nicely spiced with a bit of back end heat. For the app, I got the server-recommended Chilean Sea Bass. It's a seared sea bass served with saffron risotto, a red wine reduction, pickled veg, and pistachio pieces. The sea bass had a nice crispy salty crust giving way to a firm and juicy meat. The saffron rice was a perfect side, complementing the fish. If the bites got a little too ethereal, the red wine reduction and pickled veg punched you right in the teeth with a nice hit of acid to bring you on down. I devoured this dish. To finish things off on a sweet note, we got the Grilled Pineapple Upside-down Cake. It's topped with a delicious caramel sauce, whipped creme fraiche, and a bourdeaux cherry. If you're ever in DC and walking The Wharf, you won't have to go to far for great food. Go check out The Grill. read more
12.12.22-I finally was added to the birthday guys tight social schedule to celebrate his birthday. We considered several upscale restaurants & agreed upon The Grill. He quickly made reservations via Open Table to snag my points. Located at the beautiful District Waterfront, it was a lot to take in as I walked from the garage. Once inside the vibe was chill. Front staff greeted us with a smile and Monday night football played on the TVs at the bar. The menu had so many items that I wanted to try which made deciding a bit challenging. We started with the royal deviled eggs which were complex and flavorful. Birthday guy got the ribeye and I got the jumbo lump crake cake for our mains. Everything...down to the herb fries were well seasoned deliciousness. When food, service and ambiance are on point, that's a home-run in my book. Midday lunch before catching a flight. Let me say it's very quiet and professional inside. Great place for a business lunch. There's not much of a "lunch menu" I say in terms of price point but a lot of variety of plate combinations to choose from. We got the calamari, my friend sent it back to be cooked a little longer. Really good calamari. Very fresh. I ordered the branzino cooked cajun with crab cakes and the chimichurri sauce! Honestly, if you replicate this... you won't be disappointed. It was literally the best meal I had the entire weekend I was in DC. The Branzino was cooked to perfection. The crab cakes could have a little more filler and a little more sear but it was real lump crab meat and well seasoned. There wasn't a particular side I was drawn to so I didn't order one. And like i said my meal was bomb! I would have to go back and try at least one side. But next time I'm back, the grill will see me again! Oh I forgot to mention the chimichurri sauce! I have been to The Grill several times and I have enjoyed each visit! They offer inside and outside dining and both are comfortable with great vibes. Happy hour is perfect for a drink and flavorful tapas. Dinner is even better with plenty of options gluten free options. I ordered the GF crab cake and sweet potato wedges. The portions are very generous and tasty. The service is impeccable every time I visit, which tells me the culture of the restaurants emphasizes on their customers. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. I look forward to my next visit! read more
We stopped in to this eatery after enjoying the Cherry Blossoms and it was a great choice. The mussels were perfect. The burgers were so big we could only eat half and the aioli spiced fries were delicious. Our server Josselyn was attentive and checked on us throughout the meal. Perfect ending to our day. read more

Winter 2024 Restaurant Week Review: I have visited the Grill in the past for Happy Hour and it is definitely one of my top 3 at the Wharf. Whenever I'm able to make it in time, especially when the weather is nice, it's typically my first choice! So I decided to give restaurant week a try so I could sample some of the dishes beyond what is on HH. Food: 4/5. The restaurant week special was identical to "The Mixed Grill" offering on the menu. The steak and shrimp were VERY good and I really enjoyed the some of the bites. I appreciated being able to sample them all so I know what to get in the future! But I already knew the food was pretty good because duh - Happy Hour! Service: 2/5. The restaurant was NOT crowded as we decided to go in the middle of the week during pretty snowy weather. Our server was decent, but wasn't very friendly and didn't offer us much conversation when we inquired about some of the dishes. He certainly didn't seem invested in serving our table. Then there was the host. I checked in upon arrival and he took us to our table. However when I was done dining I attempted to use my Open Table award credit but was unable to because the host never checked us in. Then to make matters worse I received a notification from Open Table that I missed my reservation and my account was getting negative remarks. It was clear that the host didn't bother checking us in and instead just sat us because the place was so empty. So between the waiters off putting energy and the mishandling of our reservation by the host, the service is generously receiving 2 stars. Ambiance: (4/5). Again it was pretty empty in the restaurant this particular evening so it was fairly quiet. However the décor was warm and inviting which we welcomed on a cold winter night! I likely won't choose The Grill again for dinner (3/5 star experience), simply because it is pretty pricey and my experience wasn't as wonderful as Happy Hour (5/5 star experience). But as the weather warms up in DC I will be back at the Wharf and visiting one of my favorite HH staples! read more
We had a holiday party here at The Grill, and loved it so much we celebrated my grandmother 75th birthday here. We family flew in and enjoyed various menu items. My personal favorite (and this is going to be very basic) but the fries with the aïoli dipping sauce is the best thing. The happy hour drinks are really good and they also offer oysters as part of the HH menu. It's one of my favorite places to go to after work with my coworkers. read more

The Service, Food, and ambiance was fantastic. We started with the Spicy Tuna (I wanted more), the hubby had steak and eggs; I had crab Benedicts I enjoyed these very much because it truly didn't need the bread that it traditionally come with at the bottom. What a perfect concept!! Our waiter Tavis, was personable, courteous, and gave us great recommendations! We were then visited by the restaurant manager Mehdi. This kind of customer service and attentiveness doesn't happen at the Wharf or at least we have never experienced this! We highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!! read more

I give it a 3.. the seating is nice, they accommodate pets outside. The drinks were great, & so was the calamari! My husband ordered a Burger with the Onion sauce & bacon... HIS burger was Delicious but the fries had a weird taste. I got the Salmon salad & I LOVE salads .. & I tried so hard to like this one however I was disappointed. (I ate the salad anyways, wasn't trying to upset my husband) It tasted good but it was too salty /sour. It had pickled beets along with lemon /horse radish dressing & it was Shredded Salmon, Not a Whole piece. I asked for dressing on the side & to my surprise, I received it RIGHT ON TOP of my salad.. I didn't even get the croutons in it (those are always my favorite) It was more greens than fish. I've had salmon salad at a LOT of places (we travel Coast to coast) & this one I have to say wasn't worth $32.00 :( Staff was pretty friendly but when they ask you if everything's okay & somethings not to your likening.. you get a vibe Like others said, I do think it's way over priced for the food & drinks, but it may be because of the location. read more

From the service to the food, we were not disappointed. We had the Mixed Grill and every single course and aspect was on point. Nothing disappointed and it was a great value for the amount and quality of the food. Also our server Sviatlana was so helpful & polite and provided excellent service. We were not rushed but also we were seated through to dessert within an hour with three yummy courses. Highly recommend as it was also in the awesome wharf area and a perfect night to sit outside and watch the sunset. read more
Very underwhelmed by my meal at The Grill. Shockingly, we were able to be seated immediately as a table for 6 on Thursday night (7pm). (However, this may have been a bad sign, since every other restaurant in the area had a 40-60 minute wait.) The lump crab cake was $36, and only came with a few sprigs of spring mix. For the price, I hoped for something more. The crab cake also fell apart as I cut into it. Overall, the menu seemed overpriced and the food subpar. read more

This is a large, open space which is nice, considering how crowded the area gets. Opted for two starters since the mains weren't catching my eye. The mussels were a great portion for a meal. The broth was absolutely delicious and the mussels were cooked perfectly. The bread was also good and TBH I would've liked more to soak up the broth. The tuna with grapefruit and avocado was also a larger portion than I imagined, so I shared it. Great flavor from each of the components. It has a spicy sauce which I didn't think was necessary TBH. My drink was good and fruity. Good enough and I was happy it wasn't overly sweet. The lime pie flavor was just ok. I felt it actually had way too much lime zest on top of it and within the pie itself. All in all, happy I tried this place. Service was prompt and friendly as well. read more
Beautiful place right on the water. Great service and we each ordered something we loved. I got the chopped salad with salmon, my husband got the lobster roll. My best friend choose ti celebrate her birthday here earlier this month and boy were we pleased! We were greeted right away by the host as he let us know they would be preparing our table shortly. While waiting he recommended we take a picture in front of the infamous wine wall. The inside is decorated nicely and perfect for a date night! Our waiter was excellent in making food recommendations for us! We started with the ground lamb skewers, calamari, and Caesar salad with anchovies. The lamb skewers were absolutely delicious and full of flavor and the ladies also raved about the calamari as well! Now onto the highlight of the evening... the Cajun Branzino! Full of flavor and tender. I added the shrimp which were okay. I could've just stuck with the fish. We also had the twice baked potato which was also really tasty! The food was so bomb I was planning my next visit before leaving lol. Overall, I definitely recommend 10/10! read more

Accidentally discovered that gem while walking from Spy museum,exhausted and hungry. Located on a pier overlooking the water. There several tables outside of you prefer to enjoy fresh air. Inside is a modern classic interior with open kitchen and a lot of windows. Have a luxury feel and seems like a great place for special occasions. The food was fresh and delicious! We order lentil soup (the best I have tried), grill burger, grilled veggies and chicken from kids menu. Everything was super tasty and flavorful. The best part of our experience was the service! Hands down the most attentive waiting staff we ever encounter! Our waitress, Nancy is the best! Unfortunately, I had a fly landed in my wind and Nancy without a word change it and offered us multiple wine suggestions, while bringing us several generous samples to taste before making final decision! Great location and atmosphere - right along the Wharf in DC. We stopped in here after a day out on the Potomac and enjoyed a late lunch at the bar. I tried the lobster roll (MP) and it was delicious. Generous portions of fresh lobster on a delicate brioche roll that was slightly buttered and toasted. I usually enjoy warm lobster rolls with butter instead, but this was refreshing and not heavy. The fries were addicting but a little too salty for my taste. They had a nice crisp and almost tasted like sour cream and onion chips in my opinion. I would've liked them more if they eased up on the seasoning. My boyfriend tried the crab cake Benedict and liked it a lot. He's used to getting the Benedict on some kinda toast, so the fact that this was only the crab and egg threw him off a bit. Overall the dishes were beautifully presented. I definitely will return for a nice dinner. I liked the atmosphere a lot and the kitchen looked very professionally run. Steaks and other items were grilled over wood burning grills in front of a glass screen, so cool to watch. Great place for a date night or casual but upscale lunch. read more
Had such a great time tonight with my good girlfriend! We chose The Grill for a girl's night and had the pleasure of dining with Elena. It was our first time there so we focused on appetizers because everything sounded so good. It can be a little pricey depending on what you get but everything we had was great! The oysters were divine! A little too small but perfect nonetheless. I loveddd the mussels and accompanying sauce (smoky and delicious). The Caesar salad had fresh anchovies and added a great balance of salt. The lump crab fondue was a little tooo cheesy for me (first time having fondue) but the lump crab was definitely present throughout; not skimped at all. And the chocolate cake was moist. My friend had the drinks! I had the Prosecco. The punch (made with gin and vodka) was fruity and well balanced. She said she enjoyed the lemon drop (Sour Puss) as well. Definitely want to go back to try the entrees! Also 20% gratuity is added to the bill. read more

They have a prime location, some seats have great view and overall a decent place. 1. Reservation: recommended, they had no one in entire wing of the restaurant, but demanded we have a reservation, which was weird. 2. Food: okay. Not a place for a culinary delight, but rather pleasant. They are surrounded by the Michelin starred top notch restaurants, so they pale in comparison, otherwise pretty good food. The platter - highly Not recommend, some items are good such as the deviled eggs, but bacon wrapped date thing was weird. Burger - good Calamari - normal, could've been better 3. Drinks: good old-fashioned and Manhattan. The bar area is very cool too 4. Ambience: very nice décor, tall ceiling, well lit, wine wall.. great 5. Service: slow but very pleasant read more

If I could give 0 stars for today service, food and experience I would! I'm very umpleassed with the way the food came out cold the salmon wasn't cooked after taking my fork to cut a piece off. The drinks came out watered down I ordered another drink and watched it say at the bar for another 5 mins or so out waiter outside Saturday night was horrible. I asked for the manager a guy name Tim came outside with half of the piece of salmon which was warned up and brought back out very PISS POOR service. I told him that's half my food he shrugged his shoulders and said that's what the chef gave him I told him I don't want it he didn't offer anything thing else no apology for service food being cold nothing took the food back to the kitchen. We had to ask for more water like nothing was in point today. I went inside to ask Tim his name he proceeds to tell me he's not arguing with me. I DO NOT recommend now as a second timer will NEVER come back. They also are limited on resposado tequila don't have Don Julio, Patron or Casamigos. Came to The Grill for lunch because it had outside seating and a nice view of the water. We were seated quickly and there were quite a few others seated inside. I liked the modern ambiance of the place and that the outside area is kinda "inside" when the tent walls are closed.... haha it's hard to explain, but they have this like patio tent that encloses the outside dining area. They close it when it's chilly or windy I guess, but the panels are clear so we could see our even though they were closed. The poor wait staff has to open and close a pretty solid door when they come in and out of the area though. We just came for a snack and a drink, we we didn't order any entrees. We tried the deviled eggs ($2 each) and shared the mussels. The deviled eggs were interesting. They have some sort of liver paste at the bottom. It wasn't terrible. And I liked the crunchy texture of whatever flakes were on top. The waiter made sure we understood what we were ordering beforehand. I guess people complain. Haha. The mussels were good. They were in this spicy broth that tasted a little like blue cheese. They were basically Buffalo style mussels. Which I've never had before. Very interesting, but I think I prefer the garlic/white wine sauce mussels are normally served in. Haha.... I ordered the rum punch cocktail. It was huge! The charred mango was interesting, but I also think I'd rather just have regular mango. It seems like the grill is trying to be unique in their recipes. If you're looking for something interesting, definitely check this place out. I don't think you'll be disappointed! read more
