    Stuffed bell peppers!

This is my second review, and probably my 8-10th time enjoying this establishment. Every time I try to take new friends, or co-workers. Best advertisement is in person! I have to admit, I'm lucky enough to be familiar with the proprietor, Natalie. She pours live and maximum effort into everything she does, and it shows. I try different meals each time I go, just to widen my palate. (But my fav is the Cottage pie!) from the entries, to the shareables, sandwiches, pizza and appetizers to the deserts it's all made fresh. I found out only today, there isn't a single microwave on the premises. It's hot, because it was just cooked, from ingredients, for you. The Grotto has special event nights for the whole family, special food themes vary, live music, trivia nights.... Something for everyone. The interior is uncluttered, but tasteful, and the employees are a great group of people hand picked to do their best. And it shows. Stop by, become familiar, see what I'm talking about. Oh? And the food? Absolutely awesome.

Hidden gem, it is! While my parents were visiting, I wanted to take them to a random place that I was crossing my fingers was memorable. After seeing the positive reviews on Yelp, I chose this establishment. Although it was a random journey from Roseville, once we arrived, I can honestly say it was well worth the drive! It is located in a small shopping center of sorts. Once walking in, we were greeted and seated immediately. It was also very spacious with lovely decor. The layout was interesting - There appears to be a section to the left upon walking in that I imagine can have small bands perform. There were a fair amount of patrons when we arrived on a Sunday roughly around 12:30PM. I ordered the Farmer, the parents ordered the Wake and the Americano. Although it did take a good minute to receive our orders (due to a few large parties), it was definitely worth the wait! Everything was delicious! I am so glad I tried this establishment and definitely will be returning in the future. I'd like to attend some of their weekly events that they host for good measure. Thank you!

Comfort food all in one place Haven't had one thing I didn't like! Love that they have a smaller menu for those with smaller appetites.

    Skewers were amazing

We ordered several pasta dishes including bolognese, simple pasta and their spinach and garlic rollatini. They were good. We also had stuffed mushrooms, oven baked ricotta and Dijon chicken skewers shareables. We all voted for the skewers as the best one. Not a fan of the ricotta. We also ordered the bomba, crème brûlée and the mascarpone cake. Definitely get the bomba. Service was excellent. Lizzy was friendly, professional and so helpful. She was also patient and responsive. Lizzy was happy to answer all my questions. Place was huge and is tucked around the corner of the strip mall. We had a little difficulty finding the place but they did have signs. Can't really see it from the parking lot. You have to get out of your car then you will see the sign lol. Lots of parking!

Breakfast Lasagna Rollatini made with ricotta scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hollandaise rolled in a lasagna pasta sheet

I keep hearing from a few people that this is a hidden gem so we had to try it out. I am a sucker for a great breakfast/brunch! We stopped in mid day to check it out. It wasn't too busy - just a few tables full when we arrived. The server was really nice and welcoming and had some good recommendations for food. She shared how they make so much from scratch that is unique and delicious! We really wanted breakfast today so we tried the Sweet Pull apart which is made with Italian bread baked with cinnamon butter, caramel, and vanilla ricotta icing. OMG......it was better than a cinnamon roll, uniquely made with the vanilla ricotta icing that did not disappoint! It was perfectly crusty on the outside and buttery and soft on the inside with cinnamon and caramel - all at the same time. Definitely a great dish to share at the table for breakfast if you are in the mood for a breakfast sweet but don't want French toast or pancakes. We also dove right in to try a unique savory dish - we tried the Breakfast Lasagna Rollatini because it sounded so intriguing and nothing we have ever had before. It is made with ricotta scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hollandaise rolled in a lasagna pasta sheet. Again - this is divine! The perfect cheese skirt along with the rich ricotta eggs and the hollandaise sauce - the sausage was really flavorful as well. 10 out of 10 recommended! We were talking to our server and she said they have a whole calendar each month of events - Trivia nights on Tuesday, couples dinner specials, live music and improv nights. I love that it is a small local business and it is tucked back in a quiet shopping center in Rio Linda - we almost didn't find it but we were on a mission! We will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner at some point - perhaps even for an event.

It's a cute little place in Rio Linda for brunch with friends or a date night. They have a good variety of appetizers, sandwiches and other Italian dishes. The server was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the candied bacon and a few other items on their menu.

What a great hidden gem! Great service & delicious food. We had the Shrimp Michelangelo, Bolognese Lasagna Rollatini, and Simple Pasta with Garlic cream sauce & chicken. All of the dishes were great, but the stand out was my shrimp Michelangelo! I would get that over and over again. We are looking forward to dining there again, and trying more of the menu. I also got the pistachio cannoli to go, and wow were those fantastic!!

    March Event Schedule.

We stayed overnight in the area and were looking for breakfast. I saw a Yelp review raving about the sweet pull-apart bread and wanted to try it. Glad we did! It was great. We also really enjoyed the candied bacon. Service was spot on. This is a friendly gem. Give it a shot!

The food came out quick and hot - my husband really liked the burrito and it was massive, he ate half and I took the other half for lunch today. I loved the Lil Breakfast - it was the perfect amount of food. The real winner was the breakfast sausage links though - so so good, made in house and it shows! The coffee was good and constantly flowing - their Mimosa menu is insane. I didn't even order one, but still stared at the menu for about 5 minutes. Mitchell took great care of us too! I hadn't been since last summer and was happy to return. Parking can be a bit hectic, but once you're inside, the atmosphere makes up for it. It's a family-owned spot, and you can feel it right away -- everyone is kind, welcoming, and takes the time to check in on you. We came for breakfast, but they also offer lunch and barbecue options, so there's plenty to choose from depending on when you go. They've also expanded and now have a location in Elk Grove. I ordered the French toast plate, which came with thick-cut slices of bread, eggs, and bacon. The French toast was soft on the inside with a nice golden finish, full of flavor without being overly sweet. The eggs were well seasoned, and the bacon was cooked just right. BB ordered the cheeseburger with fries and a side of grits. The burger was juicy with grilled onions and melted cheese, and the fries had that crispy, beer-battered texture. Everything came out hot and satisfying. Overall, a great spot for comfort food with genuinely friendly service. Definitely planning to come back -- especially for the biscuits and gravy next time.

It is a very casual setup, so do not expect an elevated dining experience. We ordered the FOB shrimp and the Chicken Katsu plate. The shrimp arrived a bit too sour and noticeably greasy for my taste. The Chicken Katsu was average and lacked the flavor and crispness I was hoping for. The macaroni and cheese that came with it was also quite dry, which made the plate feel incomplete. Service is minimal since you order at the counter and pick up your food yourself. I went in with high expectations and left feeling disappointed, especially considering how popular the place seems to be. That said, I am still open to giving it another try. There are a few other dishes on the menu that look promising, and I hope they will deliver a better impression on my next visit.

Honestly, I'm so…read moresad it's been so long since my last visit, because this place serves up some amazing food. The menu changes depending on what they're making, but they have certain items that are pretty consistent. One of those is poke. I LOVE their poke here, they have their own seasoned poke mix with fresh fish, veggies and sauce and it is delicious. They offer it as nachos, a bowl, or loaded fries and while I'm tempted to try some of the other options the bowl is my go-to. The poke bowl is $15 and comes with rice with furikake as well as a good portion of poke. Like I mentioned, it's preseasoned and it delicious. The ingredients are fresh and I love their flavor combination. I would love if the bowl came with a scoop of mac salad, but with the portion at this price I'm happy to add it as a side. I ordered the spring rolls ($4) and it came with five pieces of crispy and flavorful fried spring rolls. Great value for the price. I also ordered the pork laulau ($14) and Musubi ($3) for my husband and the portions on these were also great. The musubi was hot and flavorful and they gave me some FOB sauce with the musubi that went surprising well together. The laulau plate had mac salad, rice, and the wrapped pork. The pork was fattier than some of the laulau I've had in Hawaii, but was flavorful and the whole plate was a perfect portion for the price. The team working here was very friendly and helped me get in and out with my to-go order pretty quickly. The food was packed with care and made it home and was still nice and hot after the drive. They use high quality to-go containers and line them with aluminum foil which is a nice touch. They also made sure the vents were open on the spring rolls so they'd stay crispy. They have plenty of seating inside, as well as some outdoor seating. This restaurant is a bit tucked away, but has plenty of parking. I will definitely be back, and I won't wait as long between visits, because the food is so good! Check out their instagram for specials.

There's a gravel lot right next to the building and you can take your food to go or enjoy it there. Our food took about 15-20 minutes and then we took it home to enjoy. The portions are definitely fair for the price. They also pack everything well for the ride home. The gumbo is our favorite, it's flavorful and packed with protein like their sausage, chicken, and shrimp and has just a hint of spice. We tried their riblets for the first time and it was a generous portion and we really enjoyed the bbq sauce they used. The mac and cheese is good, but I like mine creamier. It does have a little spice which was nice. The dressing was packed with flavor and we were excited they offered this side because you don't see it everywhere. Their hot water cornbread is definitely something they're known for and is really good on its own or dipped into the gumbo. The Palmer here tastes like Brisk raspberry tea mixed with lemonade, and we really enjoy this twist on it. Overall this spot is a local gem and we love visiting.

Right from the beginning, I was very impressed with the service. We were seated in a booth upon request while we waited for her to arrive. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to my son. When my daughter-in-law joined us, Amy took our order right away. I kid you not--I got everything I wanted from the menu and it was worth every penny spent, my son got a teddy bear pancake (which was reasonably priced), and I was even able to add an egg to my Western burger. My daughter-in-law placed her order, and off the waitress went. Moments later, our food arrived. It was fast, hot, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my daughter-in-law received the wrong meal, but Amy worked her magic again. She immediately took ownership of the mistake and corrected it without us having to do much more than point it out. Afterward, they let my son pick out a toy. He ended up choosing two, and because he has nonverbal autism and doesn't get out much, that small act of kindness meant the world to me.
