First time we came here it was nice, but Recently the food quality and and environment has decreased. Old coffee stains on the cup that I was able to wipe off meaning they didn't even wash it since the last customer. Maybe we came at a bad day but wont be back :(
For a work trip we made a quick stop for breakfast and glad we made it here. When you enter you immediately get a nostalgic 90's feeling. It was one of those moments when you just know the food is going to be good. I got the mini pancake breakfast plate with a side of grits and my friend got the French toast plate. It was a nice hearty meal just as I wanted. Big plus the bathroom had supplies for babies and mothers in help.
For the love of diners. I've posted before that one of my affinities are those good ol' fashioned diners, especially the ones you find in small towns, a bit worn around the edges and "if-the-walls-could-talk" kinda joints. ...and serving none of those pretentious plant-based milks of oat, almond, or soy in their specialty coffees with smoked rosemary or other fresh herbs for aromatic flair and garnished with high falutin junk just to appear trendy, self-important, superior, or sophisticated, often in a way that seems exaggerated and pompous. Gag me with a spoon as they used to say. (End of rant. ) Pardon my digression. I stopped by to see a close buddy and he treated me to a classic breakfast, just the way I like it. Simple. No avocado, mango or quince crap added, just eggs, bacon, hash browns and sourdough toast basted with butter. Not even a sprig of anything green. End of story. There, I said the silent part out loud for many of you.
This is one of those off the beaten track, down the road, tucked in a strip mall classic breakfast spots. No matter how many we hit, they never seem to disappoint. The place could definitely use some new tabletops and a good scrubbing, but that actually might ruin the divey breakfast diner feel of the place. Service here is a tag team effort with every one pitching in to make sure the food gets to the customer good and hot. Speaking of food - it is delicious and plentiful. They offer up just about the crispiest hash browns and bacon I've ever had. Prices are ridiculously reasonable making the value here incredible! That's what happens when you're not paying midtown prices. Do yourselves a favor and hit the road for the Creekside Diner. You certainly won't leave hungry.
Creekside Diner has become one of our go-to spots for breakfast and or lunch--and for good reason. The menu offers a great selection, at a good value, and everything we've tried so far has been tasty and satisfying. The mushroom burgers are delicious, and well-made. My personal favorite is the Country Fried Steak--comfort food done right! The service is usually very good, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. We find ourselves coming back here more and more. Definitely a solid choice if you're in the area and craving a hearty, no-fuss meal. Not a fancy diner, but the right amount of delicious food and friendly.
Found this place while taking a weekend drive with my husband. We like to fine new towns with mom and pop restaurants. The restaurant is on the older side but I don't mind that. I do have to say it was too dark , half of the lights were not on or not working ? They have sports stuff on the walls and other random stuff but seemed fitting for a small town. My opinion the floors could use a good vacuum however I did notice a steady stream of people coming in to eat or pick up orders. The wait staff were friendly and pretty quick. The food was good. The gravy ( how my husband rates a place) was really good and his biscuit was fluffy. My omelette was good. All in all it was a nice little stop.
Every time we come here it is AMAZING! Service is amazing, food is amazing and LOTS of it! Atmosphere is just like the old school diners that are to few of. Make sure you come hungry!!

We have been coming to Creekside Diner for many, many years. Every time I'm in Sacramento visiting family, my dad and I always have breakfast here before I head home. It has become one of those traditions that just feels familiar and comforting. One of my favorite little things about Creekside is that they use random coffee mugs at the tables instead of matching ones. It gives the diner such a homey, personal feel. After my mom passed away in 2018, we brought in 12 light blue coffee mugs that had never been used. On this visit, I happened to spot one of those mugs sitting on a table, and it honestly stopped me for a second. Seeing that one of her mugs is still there eight years later warmed my heart more than I can explain. It felt like a tiny little piece of her was still part of a place that has been part of our family routine for so long. My dad ordered off the senior menu and got his usual Denver omelette. Since he has to watch his carbs because of his diabetes, they're always kind enough to let him substitute the potatoes and toast for cottage cheese and fruit. He's definitely a creature of habit and orders the same thing every time, but he's always happy with it! I decided to go with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and substituted a side salad for the fries. I loved how much ham they piled onto the sandwich. They definitely don't skimp! The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and you can tell this is truly a neighborhood diner where the locals come regularly. My dad even comes here on his own when I'm not in town. Creekside Diner is more than just a breakfast stop for us at this point. It's part of our Sacramento tradition, and we will always come back whenever I'm in town. read more
Fantastic classic American diner. Nice big fluffy biscuit and delicious white gravy. Pancakes were sweet and savory they give the perfect amount of real syrup and a nice big heap of butter. Friendly staff and lively vibe inside. read more

My friend brought me here and must say this is a hidden gem in the rio linda area. It has that old diner restaurant feel and the food was so good! I like what i ordered and its not too pricey. I got my order for like $15 bucks and boy was it good! Will come back here and will bring my husband next time. Service was quick too. We didn't have to wait a long time for the food to arrive. More power yall! read more

We were looking for a diner with a little of everything and found this place. It was cute in the inside and had a variety of food options. Portions are huge and value is good. Service was super fast and friendly. read more

Man....I have had this restaurant.com gift certificate to use for seriously between 5-10 years. Never was in a hurry because it is spend double get 50% off. I got it as some bonus from some old deal. Well funny....the restaurant I originally had it for closed down. So I was asked by email to choose another. Never chose one for around 3 years. Now I just got a reminder months back and decided to get it done. I looked over their list and checked places against Yelp ratings. Most were duds or way to far than I cared to drive to. I came upon Creekside Diner in Rio Linda. Good reviews. 4.5. Check. Close to me. 5 miles. Check. So I traded my old one for Creekside. Found a chance to go on Saturday on the Presidents' Weekend 2020. I knew it was open from 6am-2pm daily. Never up early I headed around 11:30am. It was a tad hard to find in a strip mall that harkened back to the 80s. Not modernized one bit. But cool. Rio Linda is a small farmi g town but quaint. So we parked and in we went. I recognized coming here some years ago. Not many peeps in around noon. Seated right away. Again, old school diner. No modernization but I like it that way. Throwback to yesteryear for sure. Waitress was nice and gave us time to peruse the menu. I noticed they have a long mantle above the door with Kings boobleheads and Raiders bears and more. Badass. A big gumball machine next to the door which you rarely see these days. Since my restaurant.com deal was minimum $50 get $25 gift certificate, we ordered food and drinks and still had $13 left to make $50. So I got a chicken fried steak skillet to take home. Our orders: (Mine) Chicken fried steak and eggs $11.99 Pepsi $2.99 free refills (1st place I did not need a refill as their cup sizes are HUGE!) I chose 2 over easy eggs, hash browns and rye toast. All very good and a good portion too! My other two: They both got "THE HALF". It consists of 2 eggs, biscuits and gravy and 2 bacon or sausage $7.99 One got a Soda $2.99 and the other got a $2.99 hot chocolate (she loved it). We got nice service. Sufficient without any suffering. Timely but not too hovering. Food = good portions and good grub. 4.5. I leaned to a "5" versus a "4" rating as the experience was good. I absolutely love this place came in with my husband and mother in law and my husband's best friend. I used to go every Saturday but life has gotten busy. Great food, great prices. Gives me the vibe of the cafe I used to go to when I was a kid. I love it read more

If you've ever listened to the "Rush Limbaugh Show," on the radio, you've most likely heard Rush make jokes that go like "for those of you in Rio Linda..." Rush actually began his broadcasting career in Sacramento, and Rio Linda is a rural, unincorporated area northeast of the city. Besides being known for small ranches, rural charm, and a "country atmosphere," Rio Linda is home to some fine restaurants, including Creekside Diner, which dishes out amazing breakfast and lunch every day of the week. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the "old school" decor, with vinyl booths on the perimeter and tables in the middle. There are a couple booths in front that can accommodate large groups, and the tables can be pushed together. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with photos, pictures and painted plates, many of them with a local, "Rio Linda" theme, and many with a "sports theme." The dining room is large, clean, very comfortable, and also "retro," as if it wasn't for the electronic cash register and the LED lights, you'd think the year was 1971 rather than 2021. The kitchen is located at the rear of the restaurant, and features a small counter. Like most fine diners, there is a window to the kitchen, and a shelf, where completed orders are placed, so the wait staff can deliver the meals to hungry diners. The breakfast section of the menu is on the first page, as Creekside Diner is serious about breakfast. From the "top " of the menu, I went "The Grand" as it looked like everything that I could ask for in breakfast. The menu showcases three pages of breakfast and lunch "comfort food," as Creekside Diner is open for breakfast and lunch. From the "top" of the "Favorites" section of the breakfast menu, I went with "The Grand," as I was hungry on this early Friday morning. When I visit a "new" restaurant, I like to start at the "top," of the menu, if possible, as it will most likely give me the heart and soul of the restaurant. The menu describes "The Grand" as, "Two eggs, biscuits and gravy, two bacon, two sausage and hash browns or country potatoes." Such a simple description for a "classic" example of fine diner cuisine! Nick asked me if I wanted bacon, sausage or both, and I went with both... naturally, as I love a variety in my breakfast. You get a LOT of breakfast in "The Grand" and this hearty breakfast should satisfy the appetite of a hungry lumberjack or linebacker. Since I went "half" with the meat, the main plate included two perfectly cooked link sausages, and two slices of bacon, cooked on the crispy side, but not "too crispy," if that makes any sense. Sitting on the plate next to the meat are the hash browns, which is my de facto standard, as I've never mastered how to cook them properly, and "country" potatoes are easy to cook at home. My plate included a generous portion of hash browns, perfectly cooked to a golden, almost "crunchy" brown on the outside, and tender white inside. Simply delicious! The chef has talent, as my eggs, which I ordered cooked over easy arrived exactly as I had ordered; over easy. The mark of a great diner chef is to be able to cook eggs to order, and your eggs will be cooked to order at Creekside Diner. The biscuits and gravy arrived on a separate plate. Yes, it's biscuits as "The Grand" includes two biscuits, covered with savory country gravy, and lots of gravy on the plate to enjoy. The biscuits were large, soft, and were your typical "diner variety" of biscuits, which are great, but lack the goodness of a freshly, in-house backed biscuit with a flaky, golden brown crust. The sausage gravy was perfectly cooked, thick, creamy with lots of small chunks of sausage. The side of biscuits and gravy made for the perfect side dish. My server brought Tabasco sauce, along with a bottle of ketchup, but they weren't needed as "The Grand" is so good, it doesn't need any enhancements. "The Grand" is truly a grand breakfast, as the food is good, and there is a lot of it to satisfy your hungry appetite. I skipped lunch today, and ate a light dinner, as this amazing breakfast kept me satisfied all day. Creekside Diner is open every day from 06:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon, and serves some of the best diner cuisine to be found in rural Sacramento County. The food is delicious, the portions are ample, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is super friendly. If you enjoy amazing diner "comfort food," you can't go wrong enjoying an amazing meal at Creekside Diner, located in Rio Linda, CA. If you're a lover of "old school" diners that serve "mom's home cookin'," you'll be right at home dining at this fine restaurant.
