Just an update after all this time ... Crickets is still all good. Same funky decor, same great food and friendly staff. It's the kind of place locals love, and where you bring friends from out-of-town, because it's a great example of a local hole-in-the-wall gem. Today's menu: Chicken fried steak and 1/2 waffle; bacon and eggs with brows and 1 Pancake. Price:$42

I haven't visited this place in over 15 years. It looks just the same, the food is still great, and the prices are unbeatable. They always serve you on plates larger than standard size. I've rated it four stars because of an incident involving an argument between a former employee and a current employee, who were shouting at each other across the restaurant. She did apologize afterward, but the behavior was still inappropriate and unprofessional.

Food Was good I ordered chicken fried steak and waffle. Gravy on the side eggs scrambled easy. My eggs came back well. I could've sent them back but they were so busy being Valentine's Day. Service was excellent very friendly and prompt. Large portions going to take home my waffle. This place has a fun vibe. Very eclectic with license plates and a working train that is running on tracks through out the restaurant The coconut cream pie was so cute and yummy. Great place for breakfast or lunch.

Short and to the point: After getting my food , potatoes not cooked, sausage steamed, 20 mins without anyone asking if I needed anything ,but asking everyone around I had to go to the counter for help . The food used to be great and the service WAS spectacular, don't recommend it don't go no good. Oh and it smells like human waste under those pallets in the back.

Cricket country kitchen is still a neighborhood favorite if you want a good down home meal with no frills and friendly people. Cricket is a place that locals have loved for decades and it shows. The kind of place where you order coffee and they leave the pot on the table. Where your seat neighbor will suggest menu options if you can't make up your mind what to order. If I have a hankering for biscuits and gravy, Cricket never lets me down. Weekends get really busy, and I suggest visiting on a weekday to avoid the wait.

We stopped in for breakfast and were treated to a wonderful meal in a great atmosphere. I had Grandma's French Toast ( made with cinnamon swirl bread) and it was really really good. This place is a full-on museum of fun!

For those of you old enough to remember a show called Cheers, you'll remember it was a friendly neighborhood bar.Well, cricket country kitchen is the equivalent for great breakfast and lunch, and when i'm there, I feel like Norm! The menu is classic diner food, ranging from breakfast with Chicken Fried steak, biscuits and gravy, (a particular favorite of mine) to possibly, what is the best BLT in town. Everything is made from scratch every day, including roasting their turkey and beef for their open face sandwiches and delicious homemade soups just like mom made. Monday through friday, they have blue plate specials, which include a rather large serving of their peach cobbler, which is spectacular! My granddaughter, who is 2, is a particular fan of the restaurant and loves all the servers who are wonderfully kind to her (and me!) Whether you're there on your own or with a massive group, the service is wonderful. The food comes out in a timely manner and the prices are incredible value. I can't recommend this place enough and to prove it, we usually go at least once a week and have them for probably the last five years since we found it. Ignore any negative reviews, because they're absolutely wrong! This is the place to come if you're hungry because you'll go home full and happy! If any of the staff are reading this, we love you all!

Nice breakfast & lunch spot on Auburn Blvd. Good portions & nice people. Plenty of parking. This place is good for single or group diners. Keep in mind they close at 2pm so get in while you can. Food in pics: Open Face Meatloaf Double Bonanza Sausage, Scramble breakfast

Home run! A friend referred me here and cannot have been most happiest that we have this as our number one fave breakfast place now. Yolanda was the perfect one to have set the tone. Aggie the cook (14 years with this place) had our meal out in a blink of an eye and my dude said the chef knows how to make a medium rare steak. The best he's ever had! The brew fresh coffee and bring the container to your table. Definitely recommended, parking in the back, dishes for vegans too!

Ask the Community - Cricket Country Kitchen

Does Cricket's Kitchen still participate in the frequent diner punch card?

Do they make a thanksgiving sandwich?

We have a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.

Does it have a back room or a separated area for a men's breakfast when it first opens?

There are separate rooms but they are not entirely private just spaces around the restaurant.

I'm beginning to notice a pattern: these aren't cookie-cutter restaurants. They have personality, a playful spirit, and the feeling that some people actually enjoy creating places where people want to gather and belong. Imagine a classic neighborhood diner that wandered into an arcade, picked up some incredible art, and decided everyone should just be happy. The staff are genuinely welcoming, the portions are generous, the comfort food gives solace, and breakfast lovers can rejoice because it's served all day. Whether you're there for a hearty meal or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Roc & Sol has earned its loyal following for good reason. A special note on Janah and Alicia (pictured), who made our family breakfast feel like more than just a meal. With effortless expertise, warm conversation, and infectious energy, these adrenaline junkies created the kind of experience that keeps people wanting more. They seemed to feed off the positive energy they shared with their guests--and gave even more in return. If Twisted Track Station surprised me by the genius of Crazy Matt, his family, and his people, Roc & Sol convinced me it wasn't a fluke. Sacramento needs more restaurants with this much heart.

I've had 18 Grams at their other location by Arden before and loved their coffee, so I was excited to try out their food. This location is in midtown, so finding parking is as expected for being centrally located. We came on a Sunday and it was bustling. The ube latte was a no-brainer to order, and I told my husband to order the Vietnamese hazelnut latte. To go with my ube latte, I promptly ordered the ube HK French toast, while my husband ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon, since he wanted something lighter. It ended up being the perfect choice for him since my toast was ginormous. We took a number and headed to find a table. Thankfully, there was a cozy corner spot, but man was the rest of the cafe packed. When my toast arrived, I honestly wasn't expecting it to be huge, but wow I definitely got my money's worth. It was the perfect amount of sweetness as well, since ube itself isn't too sweet. I've never been a fan of anything too sweet, so this was excellent. The toast itself was pillowy on the inside and crispy on the outside for a lovely crunch. I loved the amount of ube my French toast came with, and shared a few slices with my husband. The fruit was fresh as well. He enjoyed his breakfast burrito, and stated that it was filling without being heavy, and that the salsa was correctly done. As a native Mexican, he is picky about his salsas, and he said this was authentic. The coffees were delightfully strong yet well-balanced. The ube in my latte shone through nicely, and so did the hazelnut in my husband's latte. I loved that they served the lattes in glass cups when you dine in. We enjoyed some of our drinks while eating our brunch and then got the rest to go. While they bring your food and drinks to your table, you're expected to bus your own tables after you finish your meal, which was fine with us, as it streamlines the tasks for the workers. We rarely have brunch, but this place was delicious, and we will definitely be back to try some other dishes Forever has to offer! Next time I'll also order their ube matcha, and the steak longevity noodles have caught my eye.

The carrot cake latte caught my eye. I placed my order with a friendly barista. She made sure to ask what size drink size (16 oz or 20 oz options for an iced drink) and if regular milk was okay. There were plenty of alternative milk options, but I believe there is an extra fee for adjusting so make sure to ask if that matters. I noticed a nice combo option on one of their signs offering a drink and bagel sandwich for $13, before 2 pm. Specific options only, but I will for sure try that next time. There were seating options inside and outside. It seemed like a decent spot to get some work accomplished in a relatively quiet environment. My drink was prepared quickly and had a good ratio of coffee to cheese foam. The cutest little carrot topping was added too. I actually wished there was a little more ice added to my drink. I went home and added it myself and the iced latte was my ideal temperature.

We even got the chance to meet Aunt Pearl, whose name appears on the menu, which made the experience feel even more special. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles along with sides of Mac & Cheese and Candied Yams. The candied yams were buttery, sweet, and everything you want from a classic soul food side. The mac and cheese was rich, creamy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The waffle was a standout. It had a subtle spice to it, a crispy exterior, and paired perfectly with the chicken. The chicken itself was well seasoned, perfectly battered, and fried just right. And then there's the Red Kool-Aid. Fixins should honestly bottle that stuff and sell it by the gallon because it was THAT good. One thing that caught my eye on the menu was their Kool-Aid soaked pickle. I didn't try it this visit, but next time I'm definitely ordering one of their sandwiches because it comes with the sandwich plates and I'm too curious not to.
