We finally stopped in for breakfast Saturday the 8th. We drive by the restaurant daily. We kept wanting to try it. Parking lot is on the sides and around back. Always seems to be busy. We are happy we stopped by very friendly and helpful employees. We Love to go to family owned businesses. This restaurant has tons of charm. I love looking at all the old signs. I saw the rain a little bit. We sat up front. Noticed the train was in the middle seating area up high.

Just an update after all this time ... Crickets is still all good. Same funky decor, same great food and friendly staff. It's the kind of place locals love, and where you bring friends from out-of-town, because it's a great example of a local hole-in-the-wall gem. Today's menu: Chicken fried steak and 1/2 waffle; bacon and eggs with brows and 1 Pancake. Price:$42

I haven't visited this place in over 15 years. It looks just the same, the food is still great, and the prices are unbeatable. They always serve you on plates larger than standard size. I've rated it four stars because of an incident involving an argument between a former employee and a current employee, who were shouting at each other across the restaurant. She did apologize afterward, but the behavior was still inappropriate and unprofessional.

Food Was good I ordered chicken fried steak and waffle. Gravy on the side eggs scrambled easy. My eggs came back well. I could've sent them back but they were so busy being Valentine's Day. Service was excellent very friendly and prompt. Large portions going to take home my waffle. This place has a fun vibe. Very eclectic with license plates and a working train that is running on tracks through out the restaurant The coconut cream pie was so cute and yummy. Great place for breakfast or lunch.

Short and to the point: After getting my food , potatoes not cooked, sausage steamed, 20 mins without anyone asking if I needed anything ,but asking everyone around I had to go to the counter for help . The food used to be great and the service WAS spectacular, don't recommend it don't go no good. Oh and it smells like human waste under those pallets in the back.

Cricket country kitchen is still a neighborhood favorite if you want a good down home meal with no frills and friendly people. Cricket is a place that locals have loved for decades and it shows. The kind of place where you order coffee and they leave the pot on the table. Where your seat neighbor will suggest menu options if you can't make up your mind what to order. If I have a hankering for biscuits and gravy, Cricket never lets me down. Weekends get really busy, and I suggest visiting on a weekday to avoid the wait.

We stopped in for breakfast and were treated to a wonderful meal in a great atmosphere. I had Grandma's French Toast ( made with cinnamon swirl bread) and it was really really good. This place is a full-on museum of fun!

For those of you old enough to remember a show called Cheers, you'll remember it was a friendly neighborhood bar.Well, cricket country kitchen is the equivalent for great breakfast and lunch, and when i'm there, I feel like Norm! The menu is classic diner food, ranging from breakfast with Chicken Fried steak, biscuits and gravy, (a particular favorite of mine) to possibly, what is the best BLT in town. Everything is made from scratch every day, including roasting their turkey and beef for their open face sandwiches and delicious homemade soups just like mom made. Monday through friday, they have blue plate specials, which include a rather large serving of their peach cobbler, which is spectacular! My granddaughter, who is 2, is a particular fan of the restaurant and loves all the servers who are wonderfully kind to her (and me!) Whether you're there on your own or with a massive group, the service is wonderful. The food comes out in a timely manner and the prices are incredible value. I can't recommend this place enough and to prove it, we usually go at least once a week and have them for probably the last five years since we found it. Ignore any negative reviews, because they're absolutely wrong! This is the place to come if you're hungry because you'll go home full and happy! If any of the staff are reading this, we love you all!

Nice breakfast & lunch spot on Auburn Blvd. Good portions & nice people. Plenty of parking. This place is good for single or group diners. Keep in mind they close at 2pm so get in while you can. Food in pics: Open Face Meatloaf Double Bonanza Sausage, Scramble breakfast

Ask the Community - Cricket Country Kitchen

Does Cricket's Kitchen still participate in the frequent diner punch card?

Do they make a thanksgiving sandwich?

We have a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.

Does it have a back room or a separated area for a men's breakfast when it first opens?

There are separate rooms but they are not entirely private just spaces around the restaurant.

I would give ZERO stars if that were an option. Our experience today at The Morning Fork was…read moreincredibly disappointing and, quite frankly, unacceptable. The restaurant itself was already VERY loud, with customers talking, laughing, and enjoying themselves. We actually appreciated the atmosphere because, as parents of a toddler, it made us feel more comfortable dining there as a family. Shortly after receiving our food, my toddler became upset and started crying. The OWNER approached my husband and asked him to REMOVE OUR CHILD FROM THE RESTAURANT. My husband, being the respectful person he is, complied and took her outside. At first, I was confused about why he had suddenly left until he called me and explained what the owner had told him. We had JUST received our food. At that point, I asked our server to remove the untouched items from our bill. I made it clear that I was more than willing to pay for anything we had already touched or consumed, but I was not comfortable continuing to give my business to an establishment whose owner had just asked my husband to remove our toddler. The owner then approached me, and I explained how inappropriate and upsetting I found the situation, especially considering how loud the restaurant already was. I could barely hear my own daughter over the overall noise in the restaurant. Her response was that "people were looking at me," which is why she asked my husband to take our daughter OUTSIDE. That response was extremely disappointing. She is a TODDLER. Toddlers sometimes cry. We were not allowing her to run around the restaurant, destroy anything, or behave dangerously. She was simply upset and crying. If noise was truly the issue, then why was our child singled out in an already extremely loud restaurant? What makes the experience even more uncomfortable is that we already felt we were greeted rudely by our first server. I do want to recognize the gentleman who was calling names for the tables. He was very kind and welcoming, and I appreciated his professionalism. As for the owner, I am extremely disappointed that someone who owns a restaurant would treat paying customers and their child this way. Families with young children deserve to know what kind of environment they are walking into. If children, or the normal behavior that occasionally comes with having toddlers are not welcome in your establishment, that should be clearly communicated to customers before they sit down and order food. We will not be returning, and I hope no other family is made to feel as unwelcome and embarrassed as ours was today.

The cinnamon butter that came with it made it extra delicious and the syrup was great too. The Seabass was absolutely terrible. It tasted like really overdone cod and the crab coating just tasted like burnt flour base crust. This was a severe disappointment. I ordered asparagus on the side which was cooked the way they did in the 1950s to a point of mush and what was another severe disappointment. The chocolate bomb was absolutely delicious. I have to say when I come again, I will stick to my usual Thai steak salad as it is always incredibly good and for the main course, I will probably order that chicken and waffles again too!

Many brunch places do not do those nowadays, which I hate. Every brunch requires a coffee. I appreciate that they do lattes here, rather than just hot or iced coffees. They had some unique syrups, such as bourbon caramel and praline. The syrups were on the more subtle side, which some people prefer. I am not one of those people, but it was a good latte for a breakfast/ brunch spot. I wish there was more ice tho.  The skillet cornbread with sharp cheddar, creamed corn & garlic, honey butter & house made seasonal jam on the side was a great starter dish. I enjoyed the garlic and cheese. The temperature/ toastiness of this was yummy.  We couldn't decide between the cornbread and the sticky bun, so the only obvious solution was to order both. Eggs were still a little too runny for her, lol. Hubby and I shared a chicken and waffles and burrito. It's a vegan burrito, but decided to add cheese. We enjoyed both plates, specially enjoyed the complexity of flavors in the chicken and waffle with the fig syrup. Will say portions were huge. We opted for the first available table, which was outside. Could use a few more umbrellas for better sun protection, but we managed. Overall good experience, would be nice if they took reservations. Not sure if I'd do it again due to the long wait and everything was very good, but not exceptional.
