Grout Medic to the rescue, again! For the second time, Mike from Grout Medic has transformed a room in our house to look like there is brand new tile flooring by repairing the grout and cleaning. It looks fantastic! Initially, Donna came to give us her professional advice on what options we had and how to proceed. She was very helpful and explained the process thoroughly. It required removing some grout with a saw, which sounded messy, but was not. Her estimate was very reasonable. In addition to the amazing job Mike did on the floors, he also did an excellent job cleaning the tile kitchen counters and caulking the backsplash. They also looked like they were newly installed. Our experience with the owner/estimator, Donna, was horrible. She is a nightmare to work with! Please read!!!!! She was texting my husband hurtful words about me. There are other companies that are very qualified. The problem: We noticed we were charged twice for a service. We contacted Donna and simply requested that the duplicate charge be removed. What followed was completely unacceptable. Rather than reviewing the invoice and resolving the issue, Donna became argumentative and extremely difficult to communicate with. During my phone call with her, she repeatedly talked over me and would not allow me to explain the simple issue. She would not even go through the invoice with us. The conversation quickly became unprofessional. When my husband attempted to resolve the matter, Donna began sending multiple lengthy aggressive text messages that didn't make sense. We are talking essays. She clearly did not read the invoice. Most concerning, she used those text messages to make inappropriate personal comments to my husband about me, including calling me names and making insulting statements about me that were far from true. Like what! This behavior was harassment. We had to block her from texting us. We ended up having Mike ( the tech) look over the invoice and it was clear( in like 1 min) what was double charged and he had to talk to her. We are still waiting for the invoice to be corrected and an apology from Donna. Mike did a good job. He was kind. We did have to have him come back and fix a seal that was open. Donna scheduled that a week out which was annoying. They should have come sooner to fix it. It was for our bathtub and we have two small children. A billing mistake can happen. A repair can happen. We get that. We are all human. I can deal with rude people- this was insane. Instead of taking responsibility and simply correcting an invoice, Donna escalated a minor issue into an extremely stressful and hostile interaction. I would NOT let her step foot on your property if I were you. The way she handled this was a bit scary. We are thankful we did not move forward with the larger project we were considering. From the moment this appointment started, it was just bad. I pulled into my driveway and saw Donna walking up to my door. My mom was already inside, so I assumed she would just go in. I head in the house and she wasn't there. I check the front door, and she is already across the street heading back to her car. I said hi, and she turns around asking if we were the ones with the Grout Medic appointment. I said yes, and she walked back over with an attitude like we were wasting her time. She said she needed to put on booties but did not want to sit on our front chairs because the would booties would get dirty walking up. Totally fine. I offered to bring a chair or said she could come in to put them on. Her response? A snarky comment about how "most people have benches for this." Sorry our house isn't set up to your liking? We go upstairs to look at the shower and the whole time she's muttering about how someone messed up their Google listing and now they're forced to offer 50% off. She kept repeating that she didn't want to write me a quote because she didn't want to give me the discount. Said something like if she wrote it up for $600, that would be $300 off and she's not trying to do that. She said this over and over like it was my fault. I didn't even ask for the discount or knew it existed. She left saying she didn't want to just "take my money," which... okay? But the vibe from start to finish was just rude and unprofessional. When I called the Grout Medic office manager to provide feedback of my terrible experience, she clearly did not care about it. Pretty happy with the work, although the tiles really don't show much difference before and after. The technician worked really hard, which I appreciate. But, a couple of the most important issues were left uncompleted. They were to be included and showed on the quote, but the work was not done. They wanted $150 to come back and do it which was supposed to be a discount off their normal rate. Disappointed in that. So my three star rating is probably overly generous. read more

Our shower/toilet room tile and tub and grout needed thorough cleaning and regrouting where necessary. Donna the Manager (I presume) showed up exactly on time for the free estimate. She explained everything that needed to be done and why. Based on her obvious expertise and thoroughness, we decided on the spot to have the work done ASAP by Grout Medic. The price quoted seemed fair, and the proposal explained all work to be done in detail. About a week later a gent named Leo from Grout Medic showed up on time to do the work. Leo was polite and considerate, and took pains to protect our new wood flooring downstairs and carpeting upstairs. Leo explained how he would proceed, and took about 4 hours working straight through. Bottom line is that we are very happy with the work. Our shower/toilet room looks like new! The tile shines, grout looks great, and the natural stone floor looks so nice. Anyone can take an appointment, but the real service starts by keeping an appointment. Who schedules two appointments 45 miles away from each other, then realizes that traffic in San Diego in the afternoon is bumper to bumper and has to cancel? The grout and caulk in our new (to us) house was a mess. Donna looked it all over, gave her recommendations, and was very prompt with a very fair and thorough quote. We were extremely worried about this work because our countertops in the bathroom and kitchen are unusually delicate. We worried for nothing. Leo is a true master. His work was very exact and precise. He noticed that the caulk at the top of the shower needed some work as well as the bottom where we were focused, and he just went ahead and fixed it all. I picked the wrong service so I had them clean but really needed grout repair. So it cost me a bit more but they did a good job of restoring my grout. They offer estimates by sending photos but I recommended you get the in person recommendation so that you contract the correct service. But overall I highly recommend them if you don't want to spend the money to replace your shower. They can bring your shower back to life for far less money than replacing. read more

My glass shower started to leak, and I could tell it was time to re-caulk all of the edges. I contacted the Grout Medic, and they were able to give me a quote for everything I wanted to do, and scheduled the tech the next week. The tech they sent was simply awesome (I think his name was Mike). He was really professional, but also very approachable and super thorough. I got to watch some of his handiwork, and he is a true master at his craft. He would take extreme measures to ensure every single inch of caulking was done at the perfect amount, the perfect line, the perfect angle. He would use his hand, thumb, and finger to finish every line, and it resulted in pure perfection. In addition to recommending the company Grout Medic overall, I highly recommend any job that the tech we had (Mike?) can be assigned to, simply because of his intense level of detail and genuine care for his craft. I would not recommend bc they are not trustworthy and very unprofessional. I made an appointment for 10am then the day of the appointment they send a confirmation text (at 8am) with the wrong date, when I called to confirm there was no answer so I left a message. An hour later (one hour before the appointment) they text back saying that is for today. so they showed up early and texted me that nobody answered the door, I apologized and as I'm texting I'm open my door (it's around 9:50) and the worker gets back in thier car and SLAMS the door and drives off. By the time I called to complain it was 10 am! I don't think recommend having someone with such anger issues in your home. It caused a scene in front of my neighbors which was embarrassing. So far I've had two experiences with Grout Medic: the initial evaluation of work and the repairs to my "hall" bathroom shower. I still have one more appointment for my primary bathroom shower. The evaluation was a bit intense. Donna is very knowledgeable and shares a lot of details quickly. However, she heard all of the issues that I had, recorded them correctly, and proposed a plan that incorporated all of the work I wanted done. The repair itself was prompt (he was actually 10 minutes EARLY for his appointment). He had a little trouble following the work order given the various details that combined some work for each bathroom shower, but in the end did the work quickly (he finished 30 minutes earlier than his 3 hour window). The work looks great and he did a good job cleaning up the mess from the repair. p.s. he put on booties to protect my floors without having to be asked like soooo many other repair people. I don't normally leave reviews, but I had to share my experience with Donna at The Grout MD. I reached out to her for a repair quote on tile that was installed five years ago. After inspecting the floor, she was incredibly honest and told me that the work was unfortunately unrepairable. She could have charged me a fortune for a temporary fix, but instead, she was upfront and told me the truth - something that's hard to come by these days. Donna didn't try to take advantage of the situation, and in fact, she felt bad that we had been ripped off by the the original installers.
