Our shower/toilet room tile and tub and grout needed thorough cleaning and regrouting where necessary. Donna the Manager (I presume) showed up exactly on time for the free estimate. She explained everything that needed to be done and why. Based on her obvious expertise and thoroughness, we decided on the spot to have the work done ASAP by Grout Medic. The price quoted seemed fair, and the proposal explained all work to be done in detail. About a week later a gent named Leo from Grout Medic showed up on time to do the work. Leo was polite and considerate, and took pains to protect our new wood flooring downstairs and carpeting upstairs. Leo explained how he would proceed, and took about 4 hours working straight through. Bottom line is that we are very happy with the work. Our shower/toilet room looks like new! The tile shines, grout looks great, and the natural stone floor looks so nice. The technicians who performed work for me were professional and I have no complaints about their workmanship. My concerns are with the way I was treated by ownership. For context, when I wrote "seriously?" in our text exchange, it was after Donna had ended a phone call with me. The texts speak for themselves, and I encourage anyone reading this review to review the communication carefully. This was never about the money. Once I learned that the technician might not be paid for the scheduled day, I sent him $200 directly via Zelle so that he and his family would not be negatively impacted. I also attempted to discuss alternative solutions that would work for everyone involved. Contrary to what has been claimed, I never cancelled the project. I believed a technician was still scheduled to arrive, which is why I contacted the company the morning of the appointment asking where they were. My niece was flying in from Pittsburgh the following day, and we had previously discussed completing the shower work with enough time for it to dry before her arrival. I did make a mistake when signing the contract and failed to notice an incorrect date. That was my responsibility, and I accepted that by compensating the technician directly. However, I was hoping we could work together to find a practical solution. Unfortunately, the conversations became increasingly hostile, making productive discussion impossible. A few points for clarification: Carlsbad appears within the company's advertised Yelp service area, and the company had previously performed work for me there. Sam has stated that recordings of our calls exist. If those recordings support the allegations being made against me, I encourage the relevant portions to be shared. If my goal had been simply to recover a deposit, it would make little sense for me to voluntarily send additional money to the technician. I never threatened legal action, nor have I sued anyone over this matter. The financial amount involved was relatively small. My concern has always been the principle of how customers are treated. Donna stated in writing that if I left a negative review, the company would respond. Readers can judge the accuracy of those responses for themselves. There were several potential compromises available, including completing all work except one shower. Unfortunately, those options were never meaningfully discussed. My recommendation to prospective customers is simple: read the text messages, read the owner's responses, and read the one-star reviews. After doing so myself, I noticed a recurring pattern in the experiences described by multiple customers. The technicians deserve credit for their work. From the moment this appointment started, it was just bad. I pulled into my driveway and saw Donna walking up to my door. My mom was already inside, so I assumed she would just go in. I head in the house and she wasn't there. I check the front door, and she is already across the street heading back to her car. I said hi, and she turns around asking if we were the ones with the Grout Medic appointment. I said yes, and she walked back over with an attitude like we were wasting her time. She said she needed to put on booties but did not want to sit on our front chairs because the would booties would get dirty walking up. Totally fine. I offered to bring a chair or said she could come in to put them on. Her response? A snarky comment about how "most people have benches for this." Sorry our house isn't set up to your liking? We go upstairs to look at the shower and the whole time she's muttering about how someone messed up their Google listing and now they're forced to offer 50% off. She kept repeating that she didn't want to write me a quote because she didn't want to give me the discount. Said something like if she wrote it up for $600, that would be $300 off and she's not trying to do that. She said this over and over like it was my fault. I didn't even ask for the discount or knew it existed. She left saying she didn't want to just "take my money," which... okay? But the vibe from start to finish was just rude and unprofessional. The grout and caulk in our new (to us) house was a mess. Donna looked it all over, gave her recommendations, and was very prompt with a very fair and thorough quote. We were extremely worried about this work because our countertops in the bathroom and kitchen are unusually delicate. We worried for nothing. Leo is a true master. His work was very exact and precise. He noticed that the caulk at the top of the shower needed some work as well as the bottom where we were focused, and he just went ahead and fixed it all. Anyone can take an appointment, but the real service starts by keeping an appointment. Who schedules two appointments 45 miles away from each other, then realizes that traffic in San Diego in the afternoon is bumper to bumper and has to cancel? I picked the wrong service so I had them clean but really needed grout repair. So it cost me a bit more but they did a good job of restoring my grout. They offer estimates by sending photos but I recommended you get the in person recommendation so that you contract the correct service. But overall I highly recommend them if you don't want to spend the money to replace your shower. They can bring your shower back to life for far less money than replacing. read more

My glass shower started to leak, and I could tell it was time to re-caulk all of the edges. I contacted the Grout Medic, and they were able to give me a quote for everything I wanted to do, and scheduled the tech the next week. The tech they sent was simply awesome (I think his name was Mike). He was really professional, but also very approachable and super thorough. I got to watch some of his handiwork, and he is a true master at his craft. He would take extreme measures to ensure every single inch of caulking was done at the perfect amount, the perfect line, the perfect angle. He would use his hand, thumb, and finger to finish every line, and it resulted in pure perfection. In addition to recommending the company Grout Medic overall, I highly recommend any job that the tech we had (Mike?) can be assigned to, simply because of his intense level of detail and genuine care for his craft. I would not recommend bc they are not trustworthy and very unprofessional. I made an appointment for 10am then the day of the appointment they send a confirmation text (at 8am) with the wrong date, when I called to confirm there was no answer so I left a message. An hour later (one hour before the appointment) they text back saying that is for today. so they showed up early and texted me that nobody answered the door, I apologized and as I'm texting I'm open my door (it's around 9:50) and the worker gets back in thier car and SLAMS the door and drives off. By the time I called to complain it was 10 am! I don't think recommend having someone with such anger issues in your home. It caused a scene in front of my neighbors which was embarrassing. So far I've had two experiences with Grout Medic: the initial evaluation of work and the repairs to my "hall" bathroom shower. I still have one more appointment for my primary bathroom shower. The evaluation was a bit intense. Donna is very knowledgeable and shares a lot of details quickly. However, she heard all of the issues that I had, recorded them correctly, and proposed a plan that incorporated all of the work I wanted done. The repair itself was prompt (he was actually 10 minutes EARLY for his appointment). He had a little trouble following the work order given the various details that combined some work for each bathroom shower, but in the end did the work quickly (he finished 30 minutes earlier than his 3 hour window). The work looks great and he did a good job cleaning up the mess from the repair. p.s. he put on booties to protect my floors without having to be asked like soooo many other repair people. After inspecting the floor, she was incredibly honest and told me that the work was unfortunately unrepairable. She could have charged me a fortune for a temporary fix, but instead, she was upfront and told me the truth - something that's hard to come by these days. Donna didn't try to take advantage of the situation, and in fact, she felt bad that we had been ripped off by the the original installers. Grout Medic did a great job recaulking my kitchen sink area and fixing some loose tiles and chipped floor grout. Donna was able to give me an estimate on the spot. The price was reasonable so I booked the appointment right then. She was able to match my existing caulking and grout so you couldn't even tell the difference. Leo was able to come the very next day to work on the project. He is a great craftsman who takes pride in what he does. The two areas were meticulous and looked brand new when he finished. Great experience and I highly recommend them! So nice to know there are still people around who care about the quality of their work. This is in response to the response of Donna from Grout Medic. First of all my house is only less than 5 years old. Second, I have house cleaner come every 6-8 weeks. Third, my cleaning lady does a better job in cleaning my shower stalls. Fourth, the first floor shower stall is hardly used because only overnight house guest uses that bathroom. When Donna, came in for an evaluation, she didn't tell me that the shower walls are permanently stained. When I told you I was not going to give Grout Medic a good review and you told me not to give any review; good or bad. Reviews for products and/or services is a standard procedure. You actually accused me of threatening you. That is not a good attitude for an owner of a company. I definitely will not recommend your company. Requested a quote on repairing grout in three areas of our home. Showed up 45 minutes late and couldn't be bothered to walk to our unit. Told security she (didn't give her her name) was leaving after showing up late. Before her arrival, had notified security someone from Grout Medic was arriving and to please provide unit/area map to our condo. Apparently she needed an escort. Left, and then wouldn't pick up calls. Called company. Couldn't confirm person, company management, etc. Waste of time and energy to deal with unprofessional staff. read more
