Owner is a bigot, likes to argue and apparently work out his stuff with customers. He tends to blame his staff and clients for his shortcomings and obvious mommy-issues. When visiting The Grove, I strongly suggest you request Laine to assist you in all visits to the Grove. She is an outstanding example of what Good Customer Service is about. Lanie treats me, a senior citizen, a resident of La Mesa as if I am a truly treasured Customer. She smiles and we even laugh during my visits to The Grove dispensary. The other women with the long flowing black hair and sparkly masks are surly, argumentative, their treatment borders on Elder Abuse, you get the impression they really do not want to work at the Grove. These women hide behind those sparkly masks and demand that I do things that I can not do because of my senior eyesight. Management must realize that the customer is always right, and we are important. Laine, the bud tender is a young woman who should deserves many accolades and promoted to as high of a position as she wants, in the Grove organization, where ever it may be. The product at this shop are sub par/below average. For a place with such bad quality product you would think the customer service/management would be more helpful. Very unprofessional and care free. So many other better places to go. I'm an advocate of supporting local businesses on yelp and boosting them over the bigger guys, but dont waste your time at this poor establishment. read more

I highly recommend this dispensary. This location has a great set of people, Larry and literally every staff here super caring and nice. I've been going for 3 years now and I drive all the way from Chula Vista because no other dispensary matches. They have the biggest selection of 710 Labs and Papas Select in all San Diego county. With daily deals and they even give you points(credit) on every purchase. Sean, the owner is the man!! I noticed his employees have been there long-term, which says a lot! I have tried to give the grove a few different tries. Normally when you talk to a budtender (in general; not in the grove specifically) they're kind, happy to help, they give more info on what you're interested in looking at, or at least try to have some kind of conversation;but apparently that's not how it works here? My first time in the store, once I stepped up to the counter to the next available budtender, I wasn't even greeted or welcomed by her. I said "hello" and she kind of just looked at me and waited for me to order(?). I was interested in looking at some CBD carts and when I asked she proceeded to look at me like I was stupid and slap two carts in front of me; no explanation of anything about the products, just stood there and was just waiting for me to read the boxes I guess. Also, she didn't say this to me, but I guess I was to assume those were the only two available in store? The woman just did not seem to want to be there or want to talk to me. Not really sure what the problem was but I have never felt so unwelcome. Didn't really make me want to spend more money there when there are tons of others with budtenders that are actually nice Lmaoo. Next time I tried to give this place a try, it was basically the same story. When I first came in there was some kind of spokesperson for an edible brand; she was super kind and sweet. i tried "untreated" samples and once I got the counter the budtender was the opposite; she didn't really seem interested, like she wanted to take my order, or talk to me. Just the same unwelcoming feeling as before. Just not interested in spending my money in a place that doesn't seem interested in it, ya know‍? This place is the absolute best. I love going here because the people are so nice and personable. The grove has really good deals that I get texted to me a few times a week which is great. I've gone in several times where the owner hooks me up with a great deal. Also they give a 10% student discount! If you need a medical I.D. I used to love this place. They sent out daily texts with a BUNCH of deals they had, which has dwindled down to advertising only a few deals a day. They're one of the few places that won't give a military discount on top of their store wide deals. The selection is outstanding though. read more

I come here often and spend hundreds of dollars a week and almost always get the same bud tender who is continually condescending and rude and rushes me out the door. He has harassed me about policies that when you look around the shop other people are not following and are not being harassed about including other employees. One time I came in and he wasn't my bud tender, I came in specifically asking for a certain strain, they only had one left he heard me ask for it and then grabbed it and pushed it on the person he was helping for fifteen minutes while I waited to see if I could get it or not. (Not to mention announcing to the shop "see this guy wants the last one" he used me as a selling point knowing that I spend hundreds of dollars in here a week on very specific strains.) It's obvious he's going out of his way to be short and rude every time I'm in the store. I've had enough of this guy and will not be coming back. Who ever does the hiring here needs to educate their employees on customer service. read more

After using more than a hundred local dispensaries since Medical Marijuana became legalized. I can say this the Grove is one of the top dispensaries in La Mesa, east county. I have had issues with everything from poor quality buds, strains that storefronts claim are one thing when by taste and quality they are definitely NOT THE STRAIN they claim it is. Getting product that was so piss poor i threw it away, and dispensaries that will never back up their products......NONE of that happens with the Grove. They back their products. If what you purchased was not what you thought it was........as long as you do not smoke it all they will do an exchange straight across, don't show up with empty containers saying it wasn't what you thought, they will NOT do that! The Grove is becoming my favorite recreational cannabis dispensary in San Diego. These guys know their hash and they keep the best of the best in stock. I usually go there on off hours because the store is rather small and can feel a little crowded in the waiting lobby. The staff keeps a daily printout of their menu that you can look at which is something other shops need to take note of. Every $100 you spend gets you $10 in store credit. Their tax rate is right around 12% which is great compared to the rest of the shops in SD, you can skip most of the taxes if you shop there from 7AM-10AM as there is a 10% early bird discount. The Grove keeps it simple and I think that's what helps keep their prices down. Other shops in San Diego care more about what their store look like rather than what they stock. read more

The wait wasn't long and Victoria was super helpful with the Heavy Hitters. Being in the industry from another State, The Grove is where I go to get my meds. The moment you step onto the property you are greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome. From the front desk to the bud tenders, they all make customer care a priority and not once have I ever felt like "just a customer". So one of my buddies asked me to tag along because he was going to try out a new dispo in his area. Upon arrival, it looks like a good, clean place. But that quickly changes once you walk in. For starters, the owner "Sean" is a total jerk. Guy has NO people skills what so ever. He literally rolls his eyes when you have a question. The rest of the staff are ok too. Their bud, mehh, not the best of product but it's ok. A little too overpriced in my opinion. Parking is ok. By the way, the security guard they have in the afternoon is a creep. Good quality bud and nice friendly staff. They deceive you on taking credit cards though. There is nothing posted warning the transactions run out of the country and you'll likely be liable for foreign transaction fees. Two times this week I purchased the highest quality flower by the nicest bud tenders here at $70+ an 1/8 with my military discount. 0n 2 separate occasions this week ( with the help of friendly staff) I purchased the oldest/ driest weed I've ever purchased at a cannabis store and I've been smoking for almost 30 yrs. I normally say nothing but I expect a certain quality for my hard earned money. I talked to 3 managers kindly about my disappointment... they only had sorries and no solution. There was a wise security guard listening to the conversation who offered some great advise to me as I walked away. He said I should contact the product manufacturers to voice my complaint. Wow.... Neither the manager or his employees offered any such advise. $70+ An 1/8 with military included. I thought I was trusting in good solid company to do most quality control vetting for me but that too crazy of an expectation. I thought I can expect honest and quality product and customer service... Nice isn't integrity, do the right thing is. I hope I can find small business that can at least commit to doing the right thing. read more
