To be honest, dear reader, I am not an avid comic book reader! While I do enjoy the superhero…read moremovies that come along each year, and I do casually read certain runs, or listen to explanations of certain comics via Comics Explained, I do not keep up with this medium as consistently as I do with Video Games. The only run that I have kept up with on a consistent basis is the Sonic the Hedgehog comics, both the Archie run (slightly before Ian Flynn would take over) and the IDW run as I am a huge fan of Sonic. Due to this, I do like to visit a comic book store every once-in-a-while, and this is my #1 spot! I found out about this nice little spot back in 2006 or 2007 as after learning about the Archie run via the Sonic Mega Collection, I wanted to start reading these comics. I noticed this place from time to time in my family's travels to Bellflower and asked my Mother to take me one day. I stopped going for a long time, not because of any specific negative reason, but just because they stopped selling the Sonic run. Since Sonic is the only comic book that I read, I had no reason to return. I did find out about places like Pulp Fiction, but I found that the customer service was consistently not up to par and eventually stopped going. Last year, during Free Comic Book Day, I wanted to stop by a Comic Book Store in order to pick up some of the free comic books. I first went to Amazing Comics & Cards, but found the selection to be very limited and a similar problem of the customer service being poor. I went here after so long to see if they were participating in Free Comic Book Day, and luckily enough, they were! Going in, it is still majorly organized as I remember way back when, but just now with more Graphic Novels and Manga. One thing that I can always say is the best about this place is the customer service. When I went to Free Comic Book Day, they gave people a list of what was available and crossed out any that were not available, they allowed an individual to get way more comics than the previous store I went to (like 5 comics in comparison to 2 or 3), and when I was conflicted on which comic to get, they just allowed me to have both. Not only this, the main guy at the cash register, I never got his name, but is an older white gentleman that usually wears a cap, is always nice and helpful. I don't remember him from years ago, but immediately from our first interaction, he has the best personality. Easy to talk to and start up a conversation, and leaves a definite positive impression after stepping out of the store. And this isn't just one interaction, I had been going from time to time in 2025, and the attitude was always solid. They never seem to run out of the comics that I am looking for and just generally seem to be great spot hidden away in the Bellflower area. In all, from what I remember back in the mid-to-late 2000s and recently, I give them 5 stars. A great place for comic readers and worthy of being one of my favorite spots to stop by when I am in the mood of purchasing a comic.

The other TCG stores I…read morehave visited recently have been low in Riftbound stock, so I was very happy to see that this store carried both sealed product AND had one box of Riftbound bulk cards for each of the sets up until Unleashed. Best of all, the commons were only 25 cents per card! I did not play any games while I was there, but the store was full of players for multiple different games. I also appreciated that the store employees seemed to know some of the players by name, which tells me that they do see the store as a community space rather than just a business. What stood out to me the most though was my interaction with one of the employees named Anthony. He saw that I was picking up Riftbound cards and asked if I wanted him to introduce me to the other Riftbound players present and break the ice. While I declined the offer, I thought that it was a great gesture and yet another example of how this store cares about the community aspect of card games. While this store isn't near me, I can see myself going back soon, both to buy and play.

I noticed it was more TCG based store nurses a sports store, with my daughter being new and loving Pokémon and One Piece we stayed. The store had some basic cards for sale so my daughter and I went through them to help her build her little collection. Upon getting ready to purchase the store rep MIKE, overheard me tell my daughter it was time to pay so make her selections, Mike told her just takes emails. He told me how they love to donate when they can and that the couple of cards wouldn't hurt anything and it truly made my daughter day. She was so happy and she can't wait to go back and visit. The crazy thing though, they still kept the highest level of service with a full house for a card tournament they were hosting, which looked pretty cool ......lol Thank you Mike!!!

Walking into POP MART feels like stepping into a world where everything is next-level adorable…read more.. and next-level expensive.Honestly, I'd hate to be a parent in here because every single item is tempting. It's one of those stores where you look around and think, "Okay, I don't need this... but I definitely want it."Now, I'll be real--the whole blind box/surprise box concept isn't really my thing. The idea of having to keep buying boxes just to hopefully get the one you actually want? Yeah... that would drive me a little crazy. BUT... then I saw the Snow White piece. And wow. I'm obsessed. They had this huge Snow White art/toy display that completely pulled me in. Do I need to spend over $1,000 on a collectible art toy? Absolutely not. Do I want to? One of the more rare Book Off's that are well stocked in books and printed materials and has quite…read morea number of them. If you still read printed media or would like second hand books, this may be the place to go to. The only other Book Off I've been to that is inside a mall is I believe the Del Amo Fashion Mall. This one is a bit more organized at the very least. The biggest W, I've ever gotten were rare, affordable visual novel series items from the one in Riverside, but for the anime section for here, it's not the best. There are some rare goods, like a Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun figure, but the prices are a bit atrocious. For example, an FGO Abigail Williams prize figure that goes for around $30, NO SHIPPING COST, went for $80. It's not even that rare or old of a figure, it just came out around a year ago. This is also my issue with the Anime Lab one in Little Tokyo. As well, as the anime section itself not being the most organized, aka the miscellaneous section and things on the shelves. Can never be my GOAT, Eco Town. Maybe there are gems there, but you definitely need to research prices, know what you want and how rare an item is, etc. The workers were busy helping customers and doing exchanges, so I didn't really get a chance to interact with them.

I decided to rent a few of these games for an event this past weekend and they were the highlight of the day. It's a great way to entertain the guests and keep them busy, especially all the kids! We rented the connect four: This one was my favorite. It was an easy setup and given the gigantic features, I was surprised at how sturdy and firm the pieces were. Jenga: This one was very simple. Everybody knows jenga! It was a little windy that day which gave us a little challenge but they didn't even budge! Good solid build! Ladder golf: This one was fun too. It's harder than it looks, just don't get the balls stuck in the tree!! Lol Definitely will rent again! Maybe I'll try and add the corn hole game too! A couple items were even ripped (see America sign photo). What the heck!? Who in their right mind would think it's ok to stock that on the shelves? I contemplated taking these items to someone but it would have likely filled the bulk of the cart. I wish I would have taken more pictures but you can see how bad just the few were that I took. Do better, Hobby Lobby. I really hope management sees this.
