She stopped back when she saw us really paying attention to a certain guitar and asked if we wanted to plug it in. We wound up purchasing it along with a strap and a capo. Prior to checking out, I checked the price of the strap and capo online to see if I could get it cheaper and I was quite shocked to see they were the same price. I purchased everything there. For a novice in the world of rock band instruments, I prefer to support the local music shops in the greater Miami area, but this store is perfectly fine for me too. My bf & I come here for basic stuff like gig bags, strings, picks, and playing with the instruments. They offer a range of different instruments for all playing levels and budgets. They also do repairs and lessons. Service is fine. My bf would tell me tales of Guitar Centers of olden times where you were basically stalked around the store by an employee hoping to get the sale. That's definitely not the case at this one. Heck, sometimes it's hard to even find anyone to help you, and checking out can take forever because there's usually only one person working the register, and I am eternally cursed to be the person behind someone who always asks as ton of questions. read more

Another important comment/update: I bought a bass using their customer service, which I thought was good. However, perhaps it was a miscommunication on my part and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here, I wanted the white bass, but what they ordered was the red bass. So, I asked to return it (it was delivered directly to my local GC store in Delray Beach, FL). What I can't excuse is that when I called to return the item, the agent "completed" the return and I believe it then went to the local store to do the actual return. I checked my CC account for a refund about two weeks later and noticed no refund. I called GC again, and apparently the refund was never processed ‍. Big fail GC. I wonder if I had waited 45 days, they would have denied the return. I think there are plenty of good people working for GC, but I think they need to expect more from others of their employees. read more

It is great, however you can tell that staff levels are still low and I understand why, how difficult is to keep a business that it's not an imitate need. Prices still $$$ on things that other sales providers have for less $. Henry, the manager at the HALLENDALE store in Florida (he states he is) was not very helpful. First off, I just bought an expensive used item 2 weeks ago from another GC from another store location & that manager was AWESOME & u can tell he really wanted to help me & sell me the items. BUT, this HENRY dude Kept on running B S that was not true. I explained to him on the WB it CLEARLY shows 35% off if purchased by De. 18th. He said no he didn't see that SO I offered to take a picture & send it to him. Nope, he didn't care even after I explained to him I live 4 1/2 hours away if u can at least do something with the shipment for that or give me something or part of that 35% he didn't wanna bother to LOOK at. I told him how helpful the other manager at the other GC store was & really went above to help me which made me want to come back GC even though their customer service was B S. This Henry dude didn't care at all. I mean NOTHING. He kept acting like I was lying so I told him too LOOK at my GC acct & see what I JUST bought 2 weeks ago but again, the dude didn't care & told me his items will sell no matter what. Total Jerk he was. I have a pod cast of over 2 million subscribers & last time, i gave that last manager from the other store for going above & beyond. BUT THIS TIME, I am gonna leave HENRY negative feedback for going FAR OFF the Opposite. It's amazing how the SAME store brand can have different kinds of sales people where one store values u while the other could care less. There's nothing more annoying than frantically searching for something online or in my city when I had it all along if I had just looked. Anyway, I popped into Guitar center after I found that they had an extension cord I needed for my camera phone microphone. The mic's cord I had was six feet long, but I needed another six feet for it to work properly with my camera tripod. I called them and they said they had the item in stock. When I arrived I looked around a little, the store is impressive, they basically have anything you need if you're into creating music or sounds. When I found the extension cord I noticed the packaging didn't state anything about recording, just headphones. Before I bought it I asked the dude at the register if this thing worked with microphones. Dude said if the microphone cord plugs into the extension cord it will work, at that moment I knew this dude went to DeVry. I bought it anyway and walked to my car and tried doing recordings multiple times and no it didn't work. So 10 minutes later I'm back in the store and some other dude who also appeared to be a DeVry grad repeated about five times while he was doing my refund, that it needed to have so and so for the microphone to work. I told the dude I asked the other DeVry grad if the cable would work and he said yes. Many other reviews state the people here are clueless, DeVry educated but clueless. I nearly questioned if I graduated from DeVry instead of FIU because when I arrived home, I checked the box of my 6' phone microphone, and it came with a 6' foot extension. I just looked at the extension for a moment and reminisced the day that just passed. So for a day, I was actually like a DeVry grad running around trying to buy something I already had. Useless. I had a question about a voice processor. TC Helicon voiceplay live. Simple enough question. Can you plug an instrument into this processor? There is an IN for MICand an IN for a pedel. I got hit with two different people saying "I don't know" . They didn't try to look up the product or see if they can find the answer. I was also looking for an acoustic pickup for my Yamaha guitar. The cashier offered to order me one and have it shipped to the store, I instead just bought it online and had it shipped to my home. I had a really nice experience here last weekend when purchasing a guitar. My husband and I found or way to the acoustic room looking for a starter guitar so I can start learning. We bumped into Leah who was working the floor. She directed us to exactly what I wanted: a cheap, solid guitar for me to learn. She told me to play before I bought it, but since I don't know how yet, I asked her to play it for me. It was wildly out of tune but she played us a song on the spot, one she made up. It was sweet. We purchased the guitar and got some picks. Leah was great at her job and we really enjoyed working with her. She even tuned the guitar for me before we left. Just pathetic! Large space half filled with broken instruments, mostly guitars, empty of people and 4 or 5 mediocres employees. I went last afternoon to buy some guitar strings, fall in love with a particular guitar, tried to buy it, but it was impossible. There were 4 guys in the cashier area, three of them trying to help a woman that left her guitar to be repaired, got the call that was ready, but they couldn't find the guitar. The other one doing nothing, told me to wait, that he was the keyboard specialist. I waited for over 20 minutes, until somebody else came and told me he was going to get the guitar I wanted from the storage, another 20 minutes waisted. At the end, they guy came back, got involved with the lady issue and after 5 minutes he says that the demo guitar was the last one. What a waste of time, no woder why the place looks like a phantom city and the reviews are so pathetic. read more

Maybe that lady in the store just had a bad day, but service was terrible, we bought stage speakers and she got very upset when we didn't want to buy a coverage. She got upset and even more rude when we asked to check the gear in the store, she told us in a very rude manner "you're not gonna open any box until I get the money". And I know from experience that you can buy brand new stuff and it can be damaged or flawed. Not pleasant experience in this store at all. I went yesterday to inquire about a product that I wanted to buy! One of the sellers said that he would help as he would break the check to the client. But after serving the customer, he continued to chat with him, as if there were no more customers. Just a pig attitude towards people! The second manager also said to wait and disappeared, but when he came to the cash registers, he began to chat with the employee, as if I had not been waiting for him! I see others had the same worst experience. So sad! Without even making eye contact with me, the rep began helping the person in back of me, after I had been waiting for about 10 for the customer ahead of me to be finished. When the young lady in back of me pulled forward to get ahead, I spoke up saying, "Aren't I next, I am after this gentleman". The person behind the counter replied, " No, you are not". He explain that the young lady and her husband had already been in the store for an hour and she is next". To me, that is not good business to not acknowledge the needs or ask what was that I was there for to begin with. The rep seemed arrogant not even making eye contact. I was there to sell back a practice bass amplifier. It was so frustrating. About 1 year ago I sold to Guitar Center a 500 watt Crate Amp. That rep also had an attitude, so even before I entered the store, yesterday, I expected bad service. In my opinion, Guitar Center should pack it in. Maybe that's why they are so mean to begin with. This place is the worst! It seems like the main qualification to work here is that you hate your job and you hate people. I went there twice to check out some basses. I called to check if they had the bass I wanted and the guy on the phone said "we don't have it in stock". I asked him to verify because the website said they did. "I don't have time to check, we don't have it, the website is wrong." I was going to be in the area later that day so I decided to drop in all the same. Whaddaya know! They had the bass hanging in the wall! I went to the counter to ask about another bass and the guy behind the counter tells me I'm busy I'll be with you soon. Maybe I'm wrong but 20 minutes isn't "soon". During that time I was looking at some nice leather straps and like a dummy I asked "how much is this strap?" "That ones $179" I asked him how he knew the price with all the straps that were there, please check the price for me. "I don't have time!" Really? Sonim there looking to buy a bass and a strap at a Guitar Center and this rude bald guy that's made me wait 20 minutes plus doesn't have time to check the price of a strap? I told him to not worry about asking about the other bass . I don't have time to waste waiting for someone that doesn't want to sell. I called one of my band mates and told him what happened. He told me that Guitar Center has gone to hell and he wouldn't buy anything there. He told me get in your car and go to Sam Ash. It's a bit of a drive but they at are a lot nicer. Don't waste your time going to the Guitar Center in Hallandale. These guys hate their job! I won't be coming back. BTW, I did buy my bass at Sam Ash AND they matched an internet offer I had in my email for $80 less than the retail price. read more

If I could give a could a negative rating It would be a minus 10, the lack of motivation to greet and assist clients is an opportunity. There was no sense of urgency from management down. I went there to buy some accessories for the speaker system for a major event. I drove an hour to that location because I assumed the staff would be knowledgeable. Sadly it wasn't the case, I had the proper information to provide to better assist the tech to find what I needed and the cashier couldn't care less if I had the right product. The only thing he cared about was capturing information from my license which he didn't tell me why. If you are looking for any type of equipment music related, don't waste your time with this company. I am not a musician by any means, but leaving this Guitar Center, I felt a sudden urge to pick up a stringed instrument, learn a few notes, and listen to some rock music--seriously, leaving this place makes you feel like that. This place is heaven for anyone who plays guitars. They have loads of used and new ones ranging anywhere from the low $100s to the $1000s in different colors and shapes. They also have picks, ukuleles, song books, drum sets, acoustic guitars, keyboards--basically anything needed to start a band. I think this Guitar Center may have motivated me to pick up an instrument because they make the guitars on display appealing. Now time to add learning an instrument to my checklist. Check. read more

Really bad customer service. My knowledge in guitars isnt advanced, so i went to the store looking for some guidance. When i get there and ask for help right away explaining my lack of experience, i was taken to a room full of guitars and the dude, Bruce, left me there with not much explanation other than to look at price tags and just walked away. I had to wait 25' for him to finish with other customers, when i had arrived when he was unoccupied. By the time he comes back to help out, i find him stand-offish, with lack of interpersonal skills and uninterested in helping or even selling, to the point where my experiencing in buying a guitar is completely ruined so i decided to just leave. When I originally bought my ukulele at this store I got excellent customer service from Grant. He was very knowledgeable about ukuleles and made a couple of recommendations. He let me sit and play as many ukuleles as I wanted. I ultimately chose the one he recommended, and I love it! I also purchased the "pro coverage" for it to protect my investment. Boy, am I glad I did!!! I purchased this ukulele last November. I play it daily. When the battery tray popped open and would not remain closed (this is an acoustic/electric), I brought it back to the store. Grant, again,was extremely helpful and provided me with the information I needed to use the pro coverage I had purchased. As I was on hold with the pro coverage folks, Grant called Doc (the Manager?) and they said they would replace the ukulele on the spot. Doc said they would deal with the pro coverage folks. They even had Pete the repair guy remove the strap button I had installed on my uke and install it on the new one at NO CHARGE. The employees at this location are absolute professionals! I cannot say enough good things about the Hallandale Guitar Center! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a musical instrument. read more

I always expect the best from GC. The Fort Myers store in FL has great customer service, attentive sales people and a great Luthier on staff. The guys in Hallandale can't seem to get it together. Called about a mandolin that was supposed to ship days ago; said they found it, then they said they had the wrong one and were still looking for it when i hung up.
