I hate to be that guy, but my old gyro spot was cheap and freaking amazing...but it's really far away now that I've moved. I was excited to try here but I was really disappointed. Pretty below average gyros and even the fries are not great. Nils is just down the street and is double the price but the meat there actually has flavor and juices. What I get here is super dry and flavorless. Service is fine. Never had a problem. Usually get my food to go since it's just a small restaurant with a plain basic interior. Everything is served in styrofoam boxes. $13 is cheap for a gyro and fries but man, my last spot was $9 and it was sooo good. read more

I have been going to the gyro spot for years! I really started going a lot more in the past couple, and have got to know the people a little bit too. The place is ran great, amazing people here. Derrick does an excellent job! :) Alex is also awesome. The food is always quality, you never have to worry about the order being correct whether they are busy or slow. I've wanted to try this place for a long time and it didn't disappoint. I'm just kicking myself for not doing so earlier. This place might be small but they have enough room for a few tables and you can dine Al fresco too. You can watch them make your food or stare at the grilling meat as it turn slowly as you wait for your food. We did take away. Got the lamb and beef platter, lamb and beef gyro, chicken gyro and chicken souvlaki. Love their portion. It definitely filled our empty stomach after a hard workout. The meats were tender and not dry. The salads were fresh and crisp. The tzatziki was spot on. The rice was not hard. The fries were not soggy and well seasoned. Craving quick greek food, this looked promising. A good mix of reviews. It's not good for groups. Only seating for about 10 people at tables for two. Carryout must be their bulk of business. There is seating outdoors for another 8 people, but you're in the parking lot. Clean - A grade. Staff friendly enough. Only sell canned coke products and bottled water. No brewed teas or fountain drinks. A bit pricey, sandwiches $10, combo adds $5 to get fries and canned drink. $ 1 more if upgraded to greek fries. $5 for baklava. For only me, $21 this visit Portions are ample enough to share, though. Pita is warm, soft, and fresh. Shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and wow, enough red onions. I pulled most of them off. Greek fries were hot, fresh fries tossed with cubed ? Feta and herbs. It could use a drizzle more evoo as the feta seemed dry and didn't adhere to the fries. The baklava had an off taste. Old? Prepackaged? I pulled the layers, ate the ones with pecans. Tossed the rest. I'd return for just a sandwich and skip the baklava. May try the chicken gyro next visit. read more

Stoped here while in the area due to high Yelp ratings. Located in the Walmart shopping area off Center street in Fuquay-Varina. Small place, only 4 small tables inside so not suitable for even a group of four. Mostly take out. Menu is on a big board, but when I tried to order one of the combos the guy was ringing up each item instead of the combo price, which was a lot more, so I changed my order. Got the lamb gyro and it was good, a good helping of meat that is cooked on the spit. They put onions on, so be sure to say no onions if you don't want them. Ordered Greek fries and was very disappointed. Below average fries with a little feta on it, not really Greek fries. No fountain drinks here, no tea, only cans. Another negative for me. If I could give this 10 stars I would. From the first experience with the young man that took my order, to the chef cooking who also greeted me, to the cleanliness but lastly the food. I'm from the Bay Area and it has been a struggle to find fresh authentic Mediterranean. I also have been spoiled because my ex was from Greece so I know authentic and it's hard to find. This place is the definition of fresh and homemade. Practically everything in the restaurant is made fresh everyday. Excellent prices for the quality of food that you get. I had the Greek salad and added gyro meat. It was excellent with the homemade dressing and homemade tzatziki (best I've had in a long time). The salad came with 2 delicious grape leaves. The lemon chicken and rice soup is a MUST! It was absolutely delicious, even on a hot day. The service was friendly, the place is very clean, and I will definitely be back. If you're looking for authentic Greek / Mediterranean cuisine. This spot may not be the place for you. We may be wrong but I feel like the food was almost tailored for a community that has not been exposed to much Mediterranean food. The Gyro Spot's food was lacking a lot of flavor. Lack of seasoning especially in their meats; ie, lamb, beef, and chicken. Color is flavor! And with just seeing the food with my eyes at first, determined the expectation of the lack of flavor, & we were right. It's hard to taste the Mediterranean flavor profiles. We had to add hot sauce and salt to make up for the lack of flavor. The soup tasted like Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup. On the other hand, their flatbread that came with the Gyros were fresh and delicious. The Tzatziki was packing with flavor along with the hummus. Vinaigrette was also really good. The food is flavorful, staff are great and if we order ahead for pickup our order is always ready in time. I hope the remain successful because I love getting food from a small business that knows what they're doing and not having to go to a chain for under seasoned food for my gyro fix. No. No. No. Sigh. I so wanted them to be good because I love a good, authentic gyro. I spent most of my life in Chicago, which has a small, but authentic, Greektown. The Gyro Spot gyro did not come close to authentic; it was just a bland pile of meat. I couldn't get halfway through it (okay, so that did make my dog happy). For a true gyro, make the trip to Taverna Agora in Raleigh. Their saganaki is a bit over-breaded, but it's still quite good - and their gyros are spot on. read more

They just opened so is still working working on perfecting their service. With that said, they were pretty quick and efficient at getting the food out. The owners are from Greece And wanted to introduce their home cuisine to Fuquay. They were very friendly and explained their concept as well as how they prep their rotisserie meats vs other places that use commercially prepped products. They have 3 types of Gyros...pork, chicken & beef with lamb. Their original Greek pork gyros & souvlaki comes with fries inside the pita. Seldom do I find that people make these the authentic Greek way with the fries inside! Gyros are very good overall with plenty of fresh greens and tzatziki. Wow! Just discovered this spot and this is IT for Gyro lovers! Fantastic flavor, terrific portion sizes, everything tastes hot & fresh! Greek employees were friendly, place appears very clean, and service was really fast! Placed a walk-in to-go order with 3 customers before me, in and out in less than 10 minutes. 15 minute drive home and food still very warm and containers solid! Ordered classic Greek gyro combo, greek fries, extra side sm greek salad, and baklava to test out! Baklava was top notch! Just linked up with my son here for a quick lunch where we found the place to be clean and efficient with some tables to dine-in our outside. We were greeted by a friendly staff who helped us select the Lamb & Beef Gyro Platter (I think that's what it was called) which comes with a side, rice, bread and tzatziki sauce. We got the side salad as one of the sides which was great to combine with the bread, tzatziki sauce and meat to build your own Gyro and still have enough for a small side salad. The food was served up quickly and delicious. And definitely recommend the baklava for desert but be ready for some sticky cheeks and fingers after your feeding frenzy is over. read more

An honest review: I ordered the beef and lamb gyro with Greek fries and a dip trio that consisted of hummus, another cheese dip that was slightly spicy, and tzatziki sauce. I also ordered the baklava. The gyro was very good, there was a good amount of meat, the veggies were typical but fresh (although I would have liked to see an option for pickles and pickled red onions), and the fries that came with were delicious. The pita was chewy and yummy. The only part I disliked (hence a four star review not five) was the baklava. It had a cardboard taste to it and was not so flavorful. I think it was walnut and a honey/spiced and not pistachio and sugar/molasses as I am used to. I am also not so fond of the delivery as it was all in styrofoam, it seems very wasteful. It's a little bit of a weird take I know. The restaurant was very clean, the people who worked were kind and welcoming, and they had pride in the food which is always a good thing. All in all I would go back and try the other meats, definitely the best gyro place I've been to so far! read more

We ate at the Gyro Spot today. I wasn't really happy with the lamb and pork Gyro, the original platter may have been slightly better. Maybe not in the mood for gyros, but I really don't see going back. The service was okay they took the order then set the food on the counter which I had to pick up. The Ambiance was okay, not something that you would get really excited about. The worse thing is when I got home I saw they charged $1.10 delivery fee. Been here twice and both times was just as good, I did take out the first time we got 2 order....I got the Chicken Gyro Platter which was very very good I enjoyed it til the very last bite! My wife got the SOUVLAKI STICK (Chicken on a stick) with a pita and she really enjoyed it also, and we said we have to try it again and just this past Saturday we went and ate there with our 15 month old, I got the SOUVLAKI STICK platter which was very good and my only critique was that they could've put a little lettuce and sliced tomatoes on the stick since it's a platter. some kind of veggies other then that the taste was phenomenal and my wife got the same thing with the soup which was good too her only critique was the Lemon Chicken Soup had rice in it instead of orzo which we are use to coming from NY, but because of these 2 little small critiques I'm not not going to give them a 5 star review because everything was great, the flavors were on point, the portions was good, the service was phenomenal quick and the best part of our experience the cleanliness of the establishment was best I've seen in a very very long time that was amazing!
