The minute I walked in the door I felt so welcome! Kristie, the one who placed my appointment the week before was amazing, and offered me a drink immediately after walking in. It was a quiet and relaxing environment equipped with massage chairs. I bought a Groupon for a deep condition, cut and style, and was very happy with my stylist, who really took the time to listen and had great conversation that was natural and very considerate. The cut seems a little shorter than what I initially expected, but that's only because I was growing out a lob and wanted it all to be the same length. It looks healthier and feels great. It has been several months since I got my hair cut at the Hair and Face Lounge. I'm still pretty annoyed about the experience. I am new to the area, and was hoping to find a good place to go to get my hair cut. The girl who cut my hair was so busy pushing product at me that she failed to pay attention to the haircut. I know stylists need to sell product in addition to cutting hair, but this was ridiculous. She had 12 products lined up in front of me by the end of the haircut. I noticed that she didn't cut layers around my face, which I asked her to do and needed to happen, considering the layers in the back of my hair. I mentioned this and she told me she would finish the cut after she styled my hair. Weird, but whatever. I figured each person cut their hair differently. Then she went back to pushing product. She dried and styled my hair, and it was obvious that she didn't finish the layers. I pointed it out to her again, and she grabbed her scissors and started layering around my face. Here's the kicker - she didn't pay attention to what hair she was layering, so rather than layers around my face, I ended up with weird sideburns that won't even stay in a ponytail! I thought about calling and complaining, but there's no way to fix sideburns without cutting all of my hair off. I am so disappointed. read more

Cute place but had a very disappointing experience here. Went to get an all-over color. My stylist didn't really talk to me at all after the initial consultation, but I figured I was her last appointment for the day and maybe she wasn't in the mood to talk. Not a big deal. I did have to sit with the color on for quite a long time and it made me wonder if I had to sit there longer than usual because she squeezed in doing a blowout for another customer while I was waiting. But again, not that big a deal. The big problem I had was that after she washed out the color, she told me that to get my hair styled and blow-dried, it would be an extra $25 on top of the $75+ for the color. I told her I was just going home and didn't need it styled, but getting it dried would have been nice!! I have never left a salon with wet hair before. This made me mad on two fronts 1) It was cold out! I had to walk to my car with my hair dripping and 2) They asked me to pay $75+ when I had no idea what the color even looked like, because it was wet! What could I do but pay the money and go home and dry my hair? Luckily the color looked fine, although it faded very quickly. I can't blame the stylist for what is salon policy, but I have to say it's really poor customer service to send someone out with wet hair on a cold night and no way of knowing if their color turned out well. This was my 4th visit I think I was very disappointed in the service and quality of my cut. I have curly hair and always struggle to find someone who knows what to do. I asked for someone who knows curly hair but not sure they did. They were so rushed to get me in chair they didn't even clean up after last customer. Hair was all over chair and floor and tools from last customer on bench. She chopped of a section of my hair in front and now I have a huge chunk of hair missing on one side. read more

Wow, my first Yelp review! And I chose to review Hair and Face Lounge because I had such a FANTASTIC experience there. I've had my hair highlighted and cut at about 10 different AVEDA salons over the past few years (travels during school breaks and such), and my experience here was definitely one of the best. Maryam was my adorable and extremely talented stylist, who was great about asking me exactly what I wanted, and throwing in her suggestions based on my hair type and face shape. She always made sure I was doing ok during the process, even when chilling under the warmers, offered me a drink, and kept me entertained with friendly chit-chat. The atmosphere of the salon is funky and laid back, complete with a handsome doggie mascot. My highlights turned out great (Maryam was a hair color educator for AVEDA, so I suspect she knows her stuff) and my cut is just as lovely. I've read others complaints about the lack of hair-drying if you are just having a color service, but I had my hair cut, colored, dried and styled all for the same price or somewhat cheaper than at other triangle AVEDA salons. Lexi, who answered the phone, was very helpful in making my appointment as well as when she called to confirm a day before. Ashley did a great job cutting my hair. I told here I did not want to go shorter than my collar bone, and that is exactly where my locks fall now. Kelly did a wonderful job on my haircut and style. I was clear about exactly what I wanted and she listened. She was detail oriented and took her time to create my style. She even offered to fix up any unevenness if I noticed anything when I styled my own hair, which was very generous since my hair is curly and can be hard to style. I could not be any happier than I am right now with my hair! This is absolutely the result of my experience at the Hair and Face Lounge. My hair stylist Lexi is real pro, and here is why. She listens! It is a skill people, and for some it is a difficult one to achieve. So many times I have gone into a salon and no matter how many pictures or specific instructions I give, I always get what the stylist has envisioned and not what I asked for. I'm all about suggestions and advice, and most of the time, I will try new things, but Lexi's suggestions were current, and based on her professional expertise yet still tailored and intentional towards my desired outcome. Many of you know, an experience like that is rare. This girl knows her stuff! I'm in my 40's and arrived with kid in tow, and she was able to see through all of the stereotypes and deliver a hip but professional hairstyle based on me as an individual. The result of my new do, consisted of my husband saying that he loves my hair so much that it doesn't matter how often I have to go, or how much I have to pay, keep going! Most of the times, he doesn't even notice I have had anything done. I used a Groupon, but I think their pricing is fair and comparable to other salons, and so I will absolutely have Lexi continue to cut and color my hair from now on. I had my hair cut there last week by a junior stylist before going out of town on vacation. The cut was so bad that I needed to have it corrected at another salon while out of town. I'm sure the junior stylist will get better with more experience but she thinned out my very thin hair so much that I needed to have it completely cut out. read more

I exchanged a Living Social for its value and booked a pedicure, manicure and eyebrow wax. Though the pedicure and wax were OK the manicure was the worst that I have ever had. The technician did not cut my cuticles ( on my toes either) and when I asked for clear hardener and gloss she mentioned a pink gloss. 2 coats later this was not a gloss. She did not paint my nails entirely. She then put a drop of nail "drier" on my nails and told me they were dry. There was no station to dry your nails. By the time I got home my nails looked like horrible .I had to remove the polish the next morning they looked so bad. It was a complete waste of money. read more

She has never once messed up my hair and she does EXACTLY what I ask, but when I go in wanting a change and tell her to make the decisions she makes it look wonderful. I went to another salon once to get my hair cut and the woman cut 5 inches and ruined my hair. I went to Lexi the very next day and she fixed it! On Saturday, I went in to have my hair chopped off. And I mean chopped OFF - hair that went from my middle back, to hair just under my ears. Morgan was my stylist and she did the most beautiful job. My hair is super thick, curly, and frizzes pretty badly. But if you saw it today, you'd be amazed. I'm fit to be on Pinterest. ;D I've had my hair cut there several times before. Everyone is super sweet and considerate. I recommend that you allow the stylist to make a few recommendations based on your head shape and hair type. That's what I always do, and I have never once been disappointed. In the past, I've also asked them to dye my hair dark. A++ great job every time. I purchased the livingsocial deal and ended up with a great haircut. However, the salon was quite dirty. The owner brings her large brown/black dog to the salon and there was dog hair everywhere. I sat in the chairs by the door until they were ready for me (about 15 mins past my appointment time) and there were ants crawling around, maybe in from outside? The dog sat on the mat in front of the door and licked itself and scratched itself. I have dogs and I understand that this is normal dog behavior and I even like the fact that it's a dog friendly business, but I don't think the dog should be allowed to wander around unattended as this was not pleasant to watched. It constantly scratched it's ears leading me to believe it could have fleas or ear mites. I could see someone with a fear of dogs being extremely uncomfortable in this situation. The people were very nice and I did get a great haircut, but the salon could use some work. The chairs were taped up in places, some were stained, and there was dog/human hair everywhere. Most salons sweep all the time to keep up with the hair but maybe they just sweep once at night. I would go back and see Karen, but I would wear closed toed shoes. read more

The salon is adorable, very relaxing, everyone from the receptionist to the stylists was friendly - but not fake-friendly like so many in that industry. Genuine. I can't say enough about how great my stylist, Alli, is. She gave me the perfect cut for my face, taming my thick, unruly hair while somehow managing to keep the long waves that I love. I walked in as a blonde and walked out a brunette, which is not what I wanted. I had asked for low lights and to tone my blonde to an ashy blonde, my hair is all brown now with a little of my blonde showing. The blonde that needed to be toned is still brassy. I will not mention names, the girl who did my hair was very sweet but didn't do at all what I asked for. I could tell she was nervous doing my hair, but seemed to know what she was doing up until I saw what she actually did. While she did offer to add highlights to my hair, I know what happens when you try to bleach colored hair so I declined. I ended up paying for just the blowdry because I refused to pay for color I didn't want. Not only is the color far from what I wanted, but the blowdry was unfinished and there was conditioner in my hair that hadn't been rinsed out so it felt sticky and heavy. I didn't raise my voice or use any profanity, even though I was extremely angry with how it turned out, but I could tell the girl who did my hair was very upset and disappeared to the back of the store. She apologized for me not liking it, but working in customer service, especially in this type of environment, you have to be able to deal with customer concerns and not run away. Anyone who goes to salons expects to come out looking me feeling better about themselves, thats what we're paying for. I'm hoping that over time and with washes this brown will start to fade. It has taken me so long to grow my hair out and cost a lot to lighten it up to a pretty blonde, so to have covered in brown is extremely upsetting. read more

I definitely would have gotten a glass of wine or coffee, which some of the other reviewers received, had I known it was an option. I was not offered these options. I purchased a living social for a haircut, shampoo, and style. My stylist was very nice, though I had to wait quite a few minutes at the counter to be attended to. I asked for a simple trim and some more layering and help with growing out my bangs. In response I received one of the worst cuts I have ever gotten in my entire life as a result. I never can tell at the salon if I really like or not until I wash it, so upon coming home I thought I would go for a run before the wash. When I put my, what I thought was ok haircut in a ponytail, I realized that the stylist had chopped off my sideburns and hair around my face. I know this was an effort to blend my bangs, but it is really embarrassing and awful to have this mane shaping my face. I made it clear that I wear my hair up often when she was cutting. Upon washing my hair later I realized she had blended the layers so much that they are not visible, instead just frizzy lonely hairs with no layer at all. I cried for at least an hour. My long gorgeous hair is ruined. I will not be going back there! Don't be fooled by their cute website either! Not even worth the living social deal. I made an appt with Karen after going to an appt with my daughter who bought a Living Social deal, even after looking at the state of the salon, my bad. There was dog and human hair everywhere, the owner Karen, brings her dog to work, so you better like big mangy looking dogs, that sit and scratch and demand to be petted if you chose to use this salon. I told Karen, I am a blonde with high and low lights, what I got after Karen looked at my for 2 seconds was brunette that even I didn't recognize as myself in the mirror.Karen starting cutting my hair so short, I stopped her in the middle of the cut and she said well it is too late now. I was very specific in my words as to how I like to wear my hair - and what I got was one month later a chopped up mess with no style, with totally black roots, and a horrible highlight. I have made a appt at my stylist who is 75 miles form me to correct this overly expensive mess! Back to the color, I called back to the salon one day after my appt, to say I really didn't like the color, I was a blonde not a brunette, I had to wait another week for the appt. Karen was clearly NOT happy that I was back with a complaint. This time she put me under the heat, last time I just sat in the dirty chair and waited to process. When my hair was dry, she sprayed some hair spray in it and whipped off the drape and that was that. No styleing and barely dry. To boot I was charged $176.00 that included a $10.00 coupon she had given me at my daughters appt. I would suggest unless you don't care much about your hair, you skip this salon! read more

The WORST customer service for a salon. I made an appointment for 1:00 PM on a Saturday and booked it 4 days in advance. I went a few minutes ahead of time and was told that the stylist is running late. I was seated and told to wait. I sat there for 40 minutes without an update and went to the desk to inquire when I would be taken to have my appointment, only to be told that the stylist was still running behind. I said that a phone call to let me know that the stylist was running late would have helped me plan my day. The receptionist said she wasn't sure how late the stylist would be running. The stylist didn't even bother to take a minute and come and say sorry to me and request me to wait or anything. I will never go back to this salon because the attitude that I can be inconvenienced in my day without informing me on phone or even while I was sitting there in-person waiting, is unacceptable. I also could not find immediate appointment anywhere else because most salons in the area were booked. I had a huge event that evening and made this appointment 4 days in advance only to be made sitting on an uncomfortable chair for more than 40 days with NO apologies or no notification until I went and asked the receptionist.
