This place deserves more than 5 stars!! A couple of weeks ago my Daughter & I went to get our haircuts. We were walk-ins so I was not sure if they had any openings. We were greeted by Hans, which was an unexpected awesome surprise! Not only did Hans treat us like family he knew exactly what we needed and we left happy campers. With that said, as usual here I am calling the salon at the last minute for service that will take most of the day. And as expected we were booked a same day appointment for a balayage, wash, cut & style w/Susana. Me being an over protective Mom was concerned about my 17 yr old daughter getting that done when in my eyes she's got Beautiful hair. Susana immediately addressed my concerns and explained how the process would be done. So I left back to work feeling more at ease and my Husband stayed @ the Salon w/my daughter. 4 hours later I was more than AMAZED at how BEAUTIFUL her hair came out. She captured exactly what my Daughter wanted and nailed it on the color, cut & style. When my Daughter came home she kept raving about how Susana did such a good job, and how she was treated by everyone there at the Salon making her feel special. For a Mom that is a HUGE plus!! So sad to leave a one star, I made an appointment here same day as it advertised online 08/03/2023. I show up to my appointment and the whole business was completely closed, locked doors, lights off with no sign or anything. Online and door of business said opened at 10am, I went in at 10:45 and closed, I went back a little after 11am and the doors where still closed and all lights where off. Totally bummed, has to take me business to Ulta as they took me as a walk in for a blow out. I never got a call nor email from them, I got an automatic email confirming my appointment with May. Very disappointed. I went in for a simple wash and blow-out and left very unhappy. When she washed my hair, it was super quick and she missed some of my hair in the back. After that, no conditioner was used. She took me to her station to blow it dry and sat me in her wobbly chair and even the drying was a bad experience. Hans is a genius. Last Friday I went for a big hair change with my regular stylist - a pixie/faux hawk. However, they did a horrible job. Like, uneven sides, buzzed straight up on one side, totally disconnected, length on top all the same, well, all the same length save for the left actually being longer than the right (!), and uneven razoring all around. A. Complete. Disaster. Like, I couldn't even go into work with it, it was so horrendous. I called HL out of desperation to see if they could get me in same day, and Hans was a lifesaver. So this would have been my 2nd time here. Ashley calls me & asks me to come in 30 mins early. I come in 20 mins early and she says she will be another 15-20 mins longer. So why ask me to come early?!?! Makes no sense! I then went out & waited out in my car as they have NO where to sit in the lobby. Came back in 15 mins later and sat in a chair in the salon area. Ashley doesn't even talk to me. She's talking crap about the salon & the money she makes and doesn't make. Talking about her commission. Saying she makes more $ doing hair at clients houses. Hmmm isn't that illegal?! She's dressed in exercise clothes. No mask on. I found her VERY unprofessional. Oh & by the way my appt was at 2:45. Worst haircut experience ever! To start with, women go to get a haircut to make themselves look and feel better. I had a good stylist who gave up her business over Covid, forcing me to find someone new. I had made an appointment at another salon for color and haircut and made a mistake on noting the time of my appointment, so I missed it. Due to timing and availability, I impulsively colored my own hair, but was pleased with the result. All I needed was a good cut. I saw this salon at the Promenade and decided to give it a try. The sign on the door said walk in's welcome. The place was empty and the lights were out, but came on when I walked in. Only one stylist was there and she said she was available to cut my hair. Her price was a steep $50 for a haircut, so it must be good, right?? I showed her a picture of myself with a hairstyle that I wanted, which meant a much shorter cut, kind of a shag look, short on sides. She said no problem. She wet my hair and started cutting. I told her about missing my appointment and coloring my own hair. She insulted me by saying I made the other hairstylist go on unemployment and now I think I'm a professional hairstylist. I ignored this and let her continue. Another client came in the building and she was suddenly done with me. I was surprised because my hair was still very long on the sides. I told her I looked like I had bat wings on the sides of my head and she blew it off, said it was fine, and said, "what, you want some mousse?" and put mousse in my hair, scrunching it up on the sides. I scheduled my little girl here on Yelp via messaging. We had a clear understanding of our expectations yet when we arrived at our scheduled time we got the run around for 30 minutes and then turned away because she was double booked and was only given part of the story. I reached out to the owner on Yelp and was told that someone called in sick. Two different stories. I don't like disappointing my little girl. She's an awesome kid and deserved a special treat. Update: 11/27/2019 I've raised my review from 1 Star to 4 Stars because the owner called and was very apologetic and eager to make things right. He even personally apologized to my little girl. I was able to book an appointment on Friday @ 5pm- right after work. The hours are so convenient and they are open 7 days a week. My stylist, Hans, was friendly, kind, and did a great job on my hair. I got a partial highlight. He took his time with the color and toned out the brass I left when I did my own hair last month (whoops) Best of all- this place is seriously affordable. Where do I start OK Saturday morning I woke up crying because I have been depressed and going through a really horrible break up I decided I would get up and go get my hair done so I could feel better about myself and my situation( because that's what us girls do) I walked in they were very nice I was actually referred from my daughter to go here she told me that the lady that did her hair was really nice but unfortunately that lady was not available so I had my hair done by somebody else I believe her name was Susanna but I'm not 100% sure on that. I told her I wanted a balayage which I already had prior to walking in but it had been a while so it needed a touch up. I told her I wanted the roots to match my natural hair color and to make the blonde more blonde and more of it. She first quoted me $175 said I would be getting a really good deal then when I told her that was perfect because I planned on spending no more than $200 so I would just give the rest to her for a tip hoping she would take good care of me. She was very sweet we talked a lot but when I took the towel off my head I noticed my roots were carrot orange she proceeded to tell me that I asked her for a touchup so she matched the orange color in which let me tell you that orange color is the blonde losing the toner.! Immediately put it on me like it was my fault I told her I need this fixed I could not leave here with orange hair she said OK that will be an extra $25 at that point I was willing to pay $25 rather than walk out of a salon with carrot top. So my original quote from $175 has now turned into $225 because I apparently had to pay for her mistake. As she's drying my hair I notice I no longer have any blonde my hair is now brown because she fixed the roots made them dark brown which I'm terrified to wash my hair and have it go back to Orange. I asked her why my hair was not half blonde like when I walked in she said she always uses a darker toner to give it time to wash out especially because I my daily washer. I still don't understand why I paid $225 for her to do my hair in all brown with a couple low lights and tell me that it's going to wash out and turn blonde I was not looking for a mystery hair I wanted to walk out of there feeling good and happy instead I left and went home and cried I literally woke up crying and went to bed crying because now I'm out all that money that I really couldn't afford but I thought it would make me happy. Don't get me wrong it looks good for somebody that wants their hair all one color but I did not pay all that money for my hair to be one color. I'm not evil and she did spend a lot of time with me something that should have taken two hours turned into almost 6 hours so I left her a $20 tip so I walked out of there spending $245 on basically one solid hair color which is brown. I gave this salon a two star because she was nice even though I feel taken advantage of and because my daughter had an excellent experience there and I don't believe that Salon should have to suffer because they have employees that don't know how to follow direction or client request. I took a picture less than one week before getting my hair done in the picture you could see all the blonde the new one you can see I am now back to my natural hair color of brown. I forgot to add she also told me before leaving that in the future if I wanna balayage it's better to schedule two separate appointments one for the top and one for the bottom never had that experience before from anybody totally does not make sense Happy Client!!!! Last week I wrote a negative review on the way my hair turned out. I was quickly contacted by Angelica at the Hair Lounge, she offered to fix my hair if I would give her the opportunity. So today I went in and Angelica didn't make the awkward situation feel awkward at all. Angelica was extremely professional and friendly. She fixed my hair at no cost even though she wasn't the one to initially mess it up. I am beyond pleased with the turn out, my hair is properly blended and isn't damaged. I was nervous about getting it done again so soon and scared I would walk out bald lol. But nope she took care of me and my precious hair I highly recommend going to Angelica for your hair needs as she obviously loves what she does and likes making the client happy!!!! Well at firs everything was great angelica started doing her thing this women supposedly has years of experience half an hour into the process I started feeling something in the back of my head and it started burning really bad at first I didn't say anything cuz it's not my first time doing my hair but it got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore I let her know she checked my hair she lifted the back of my hair smoke came out of it she had burn all my hair from the back and me not knowing what was going on because she's the professional she kept doing what she was doing at the end the hair colored look nothing like it she said that I needed one wash to wait 24 hours and then wash and then it was going to start looking a little bit more like what I wanted not at all my daughter saw me for the first time and she asked me why did I dye my hair brown it was supposed to be gray with undertones purple that was Saturday 2 days before my Christmas party oh and I forgot to say my $200 extensions I bought for my hair to completely ruin I don't know what she did to those but they were so bad I had to cut them to the same side I had to cut my hair I remember she had mentioned that Sunday she was going to be off because I wanted my money back I I called Monday and they had told me that they don't carry money in their stores so they didn't have money to give me back so I fought that I had to fart that back then I got a call back from the owner he said that he was going to meet me at his stylish moment at a certain time to give me my money which he did I didn't get the money back for my extensions or the product I bought. The only way to describe my experience was bizarre and uncomfortable. I made a last minute appointment on a Sunday and was so excited they could fit me in. I wanted to try the Keratin Hair treatment, which online said 150+. I have long hair and get that some place charge because of that. When I sat in the chair, the stylist quoted me $300! I have long hair but I'm not Rapunzel. After speaking with the manager, it turned out I would be charge $200. The convo was uncomfortable but in the end I could do $200. During my appointment my stylist was telling a story about a man denting a door. In that conversation the stylist said and I quote, "No offense, but he had your body type." Well shocker, I found it offensive. There was also an issue with time. My hair took 3hrs which isn't the issue. The client that was scheduled next was only 2hrs after we started. Not an issue either except the client came back when we're still roughly 25min from being finished. I felt like my hair suffered because of the time crunch of the stylist. The final reason for this 1 star is the trim I asked for. I only needed the split ends cut off. My hair is all one length and after the treatment very strait. The stylist took at total of 3 min(and I know because I was watching the clock) and cut an extremely blunt strait chop at the bottom. It was terrible and I could have asked anyone to cut a strait line. On top of hating the cut, the stylist charged me $50!!!!!! The price of a womens hair cut for a 3min chop job. Overall I'm even more upset at myself for being so uncomfortable, I still tipped him $10/hr which is my standard. I'm sure most people have a better experience here but I won't be back. read more

I heard her on the phone talking in the back, I finally waited 5 mins and had yell hello before she came out. She was very rude, and annoyed that I was there. Well, that was probably the worst salon experience ever. I walk in and there's no one there to greet you... nor is there anywhere to sit. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long. Julie, my stylist, didn't even sit me down to say hello or to discuss my hair before she threw me in the sink to start washing with freezing cold water. We get to the chair and she lazily just drapes the cape over me (it slipped off). She quickly asks what I want and then those were the only words she spoke to me. Ask nothing about myself or my hair. After my quick trim, she dried my hair and then tried to rush me out of her chair as fast as she could. However, I asked her to straighten my hair instead of leaving it the frizzy, bushy mess she had it at. I HAD TO TELL THIS WOMAN TO PUT HEAT PROTECTION IN MY HAIR. WHAT??!! As clean and friendly as everyone was here, I had a horrible experience. I liked the fact that I was pretty much in an out within an hour, but my hair came out TERRIBLE. I wanted to go lighter into a light grayish tone from brunette (yes, I TOTALLY understand that sometimes it takes more than one session to get to that level of lightness that I wanted) but I asked for GREY, NOT blonde. In my hair there's parts of the blonde that came out orange.... not cool. On top of that I wanted to aim for a short hair do and she totally chopped my hair off. Ask me first at least how short I wanna go before you cut it.. sorry but I'm just extremely disappointed and wasn't exactly happy with wasting $180 on a cut and color that didn't even come CLOSE to what I was wanting. I've been going to the hair lounge on and off for a while ( I'm horrible at keeping up with hair appointments and most of the time I'm pretty much always a walk in ). Even with the pandemic they were able to see me day of for all over coloring! Christina was awesome!!!! My hair turned out AMAZING! I think the best part of it was that she understood what I was going for and was able to take my hair to another level! I've gone to mutliple different places before but hair lounge has really been the only place that listened to what I want to do with my hair ( most of the time other stylists will always tell me , oh no you don't want that or just ignore what I ask for). 10/10 you bet I'll keep going back! read more

This is my first ever negative review in my life. First of all when I spoke with one of the stylists that I set the appointment with, she said that they had "the color in stock so that's not a problem." So this tells me they carry a professional dye of the color dark purple my hair currently is. So I'm glad, as we are raising my roots because they had grown out. So I arrive and I tell the person there, hi I'm here to see Ashly, and I'm told "she isn't here today she had an emergency." Ok, things happen, I tell her that I am a little upset that it wasn't communicated before my appointment, but I allowed the second stylist to do my hair. I will say Julie was very nice and I'm sure she tried her best; but when I left, the lighting was not perfect as some of the lights were out and the mirror light wasn't turned on so I didn't get the full view. When I got home I noticed patches of blonde EVERYWHERE! Streaks on top and the colors did NOT match. I also noticed that they did NOT use salon grade products, but instead they went and bought Arctic Fox which is commonly purchased at Sally's or Ulta. How a salon thinks that is ok and not to tell their client is beyond me! I mentioned this to the owner and he had nothing to say regarding the color use and his response was that the same stylist will fix it. If she couldn't do it the first time, why would she be able to do it again? I had to work the following day so I had to get my hair done ASAP and went to another salon who fixed it without a problem. None of the color blends AT all. My original color tone had to be mixed by a previous stylist with a dark blue to get the dark purple-indigo tone that I had. Today was my second visit to this salon and I am sooo happy. I am normally pretty impulsive whenit comesto getting a haircut and for the 2nd time they were able to fit me in with no issues! I called a ton of different salons that were booked but from now on I will just come here. My first stylist was Monique (I think) and she was so nice and patient with me. I am often one of those annoying customers that doesn't really know what she wants.But she took it in stride and was so nice. He was a nice guy and everyone makes mistakes. Hair does grow back but still.... I've had bangs done before...but never like this. I also had my glasses off and I couldnt see untill after he was done. When I put my on my glasses it was too late...my fate was sealed. Pretty sure my hair wasn't rinsed out enough or Properly, took a while to blow dry and the flat iron was alright but still very poofy in the back. I'm am so frustrated and angry with this place. I got a great haircut from Angelic in December and wanted to go to her again. Booked an appointment 5 days out for 10am. I get a call at 940am the day of my cut saying she called out an HOUR before. Why didn't you call me a full hour ago instead of 20 minutes before my appointment when I'm leaving my house!? I don't blame Angelic, everyone gets sick, I'm just in shock that they thought it was okay to call me so close to my appointment time to cancel when they knew much further in advance. Long story short, my stylist at The Hair Lounge didn't know what she was doing and ended up giving me a horrible hair color and frying my hair. I called to get my hair redone and the owner Russ informed me that after many complaints they had fired the stylist who ruined my hair. Instead of wanting to fix my hair, the owner Russ offered me the equivalent of what I paid for my butcher job in product. I told him no, I needed someone to fix my hair! I asked for a refund so I could go and get my hair fixed by professionals elsewhere but eventually they wanted me to be a happy customer and offered up their best stylist to fix the mistake. I got my hair "fixed" with five inches of my hair missing. I guess she was trying her best to cut away all the damage. After a few washes my new hair color started to fade and get blotchy all around. I now have a really attractive blonde streak on the right side of my head. I'm kidding, it's not attractive. I cancelled payment on my credit card after this started happening to my hair because after all of this, I still have to get my hair redone, again!!! The icing on top of the cake is I'm now being harassed by the owner of the salon, Russ. He is saying that I received services and therefore by canceling the credit card payment I am committing fraud and he is now threatening to call the police on me. The picture I posted says it all. What a great find! I have been looking for a new hair studio closer to where I live... and we all know how nerve racking that can be to find a new stylist... Jessica IS awesome, per the previous reviewer's posting! I just came here for the first time yesterday for a highlight and glaze treatment. Jessica nailed the color the first time! She knows her stuff when it comes to coloring for blonds!!! The salon itself is really cute and newly re-decorated. It is rather easy to find (right around the corner from The Loft and Saffron Boutique). The owner of the salon is very nice too and she cares about her salon and the salon's clientele.
