We've been eating this food for nearly 10 + years in NY city and we love the food. We found out that they had locations now in VA so we started visiting this location since it opened and were super excited about continuing to do so. The food is amazing, not gonna lie. But we will NEVER return. And this is coming from someone who actually looked into franchise opportunities because I believe so much in the product. They advertise that they close at 10pm. We decided to drive out there last night - which is a 45 minute drive - we got there at 9:50. Doors were locked, workers were inside saying "sorry". If you close at 10, then close at 10 - not 9:45. We will never go back. Not because the food is bad but because if you make me drive an hour and a half (45 minutes one way) and can't even stay open for what you state are your hours then why would I go back? Of course I could try and call ahead and see if they are open - only problem with that is they either don't have a phone or won't answer it. Next time I'm in NY I'll get some Halal, as for Ashburn enjoy getting home 10 minutes early - cause it cost you a family of supporters. read more

The Halal Guys is my go to lunch spot. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable and the spices and flavors are hard to find anywhere else. I recently starred keto and I have the make me a beef gyro salad almost every day. They just started making burritos and I'm excited to try one, once I come off of keto. Oh my GOD!!!! This place is insane the guy that is older, not sure if he is a manager or owner, yelled at me today. I ordered online and went in to pick up the order, must have read the name wrong, but I took the first bag that's name started with "a". Went to Halal Guys with my wife tonight. I order the beef gyro and fries and the wife ordered the fafalel platter and humus. Let's start with hers the falafel dry and did not taste good. The pita pieces that came with the her meal were very hard. The humus looked soupy she did not try it because it grossed her out. Now with what I ordered, the fries were soggy and were not cooked all the way. The gyro was okay nothing to write home about. If you want a gyro go to opa mezza grill. Just stopped in with my wife to order dinner for the family, the owner, whom we often speak to begged us to wait 3-4 minutes so we would have the absolute best cooked fresh off the grill meat "made from his heart" as he likes to say. Being from New York area and knowing taste of the real halal guys this experience was really terrible. Food was terrible and I will never go back. Go to any other gyro place and I promise you won't miss out on anything. I don't think this franchise owner learned how to make the platter like New York style. I've been to most the halal guys in the DMV, this is my favorite location by far, the food it always hot and fresh, the staff is friendly and welcoming but not fake either, feels genuine, and when leaving the manager always checks on you to see how your experience was, again this always comes across as genuine, and not forced like some places. What I really like about this place is that if you need some more white sauce or hot sauce, help yourself because it's in the drinks fridge. It's the small things that make the biggest impact. Heard this was a hoppin joint from NYC so wanted to give it a try. Not what I expected. Very limited menu of rice bowls or gyros. Beef, chicken, combo, or falafel. French fries and baklava. That is it. We all tried the rice bowl. One beef. One chicken. One combo. Have to admit it was quite tasty. Hot sauce was hot but could have used more. White sauce supposedly a highly prized secret recipe. I found it was a nice addition to the bowl although didn't wow me. Owner was there and was incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in his customers. Offered us a baklava on the house. It was very good (albeit odd that he mentioned he gets it from Chicago?) My wife and I agreed we'd be back. Would love some additional veggie choices to add to the bowl and a lamb option. Hope they are able to build a fan base in the area. read more

This was my first time eating at a Halal Guys and unfortunately it will be my last. The food at this location was very bland and no flavor. The chicken had no flavor as well. We all came home with stomach aches. The lady at the cash register was very persistent in letting me know that olives are an extra charge after they had put it on my food. This location isn't a good one. First of all when you walk in it's almost like there's no ventilation, it's very hot and thick and stuffy. Second of all both the man and woman working their gave such tiny scoops of rice. They weren't full scoops because there was so much rice sticking to the spoon that barely any actually went into the bowls. I mentioned that they didn't give me or my friend enough rice, and the woman just smiled and laughed and the man didn't say anything and then they both immediately started talking in their language and the man had very rude body language while i Was paying. My friends and I always come here. It's kind of our weekly take out spot. The quantity of food you used to get for the price was totally great. Espeically now that they added toppings! (Feta cheese would be awesome too) But lately, we noticed the portions were getting smaller and smaller. The amount of food you get for the price NOW? It's ridiculously bad. It barely fills half of the bowl and it makes pathetic sandwiches and it's not worth $10+. Especially for 6 bowls for all of us. Nah fam. If this doesn't change, we're going to find somewhere else.
