As someone who's a huge fan of the original Halal Guys carts in New York, I was really excited to try this location while in Atlanta. Unfortunately, it just didn't live up to the standard I was expecting. The lettuce looked old and wilted, the rice was bland and seemed completely unseasoned, and the chicken honestly looked more boiled than grilled or seasoned (see photo). Overall, the meal just wasn't very appetizing, and I ended up not enjoying it. I was so excited that I even purchased extra packets of the famous white sauce to take home, but it tasted much more like plain mayonnaise than the signature sauce I know and love. It was disappointing because that's usually one of my favorite parts of the meal. The staff was pleasant, and I know every location can have an off day, so I'm hoping this was just an isolated experience. Based on this visit, though, I don't think I'd return to this location. read more

Wow, where have I been? I'd heard good things about The Halal Guys but never took a chance until recently. Needing lunch while prepping for a recent event during a rainy day, I opted for a local delivery service. When scrolling through the options I came upon The Halal Guys and thought it a perfect lunch option for the day. What a great choice. Being a newbie I didn't know what the popular items were and decided to go with the braised lamb gyro, a lychee tea and some extra red sauce. When my food arrived, I was so pleased with the careful packaging that secured my bag/drink for a tamper-proof delivery. My gyro came with a hugeee package of white sauce along with my spicy red sauce. I dove right into my gyro and WOW. Wow, wow, wow. The flavor of that lamb slapped me right in my face. It was so incredibly flavorful, almosttt too much, but believe me, I'd do it again ten times over. The white sauce was a traditional tzatziki-esque sauce that was delicious on the gyro. The red sauce was just as spicy as advertised omg. I love a good kick and when I saw the label I was like, "yeah right". Don't be like me, lol. I've had hotter, but it had an after kick but it was SO delicious and I'll need it with each order. I was sitting in front of a window and feel like someone was sitting their car watching me tear into that gyro, omg. I don't even care, I'd do it again. I'm a rabid shawarma/doner kebab eater. When I moved away from the coast I had a big Halal Guys-shaped hole in my heart. And they are just as good in Atlanta as in Cali. For those who don't know, this place started as a food cart in NYC before going country wide. You want to get the gyro or gyro and chicken plate. Load it up with as much of that sumptuous white sauce as you can stomach, it's what makes the meal. The red sauce is very very spicy, don't overdo it or you might miss out! As someone from the Middle East who is very familiar with authentic Mediterranean cuisine and often cooks at home, I found this experience extremely disappointing. The food was tasteless, low quality, and overpriced street food vendors offer far better quality than what we received here. The kitchen setup and presentation looked cheap, and the pictures of the dishes were misleading. The bread was undercooked and white, the meat was of poor quality, and the dishes were loaded with inexpensive American cheese. Even the olives came from a can, and the tomatoes were completely flavorless. The only acceptable ingredient was the onion. We spent $52 for two people, which is unreasonable given the quality. For comparison, we could have gone to a high-class Middle Eastern restaurant like Rumi for $60-70 and enjoyed far superior food, authentic flavors, and a proper atmosphere. I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking real Mediterranean cuisine. read more

Can't go wrong with Halal Guys. I ordered a Chicken plate, nice big portions, and a great balance of protein carbs and some veggies. The food is always hot and flavorful. I ordered on one of these delivery apps and it took almost an hour when I was about a mile or less away. I'd definitely recommend going straight to the store id you can. Miss New York City and the food adventures. Halal Guys is a staple in NYC and has expanded its halal presence to Houston, Vegas, and also Atlanta. It won't have the 'hole in the wall' / street food experience that you will see but the quality and taste sure is consistent. We ordered two combo rice bowls for take-out. Ordered - Combo Rice Bowl of Gyro/Chicken (4/5). Tasty. It is very heavy in taste and portions especially if you opt in with the secret white sauce. Spicy is good but I choose to substitute the flaming hot red sauce with Siracha. Everything was so tasty when stirred and definitely brought back memories. If you're looking to satisfy your crave for Halal food then this is the place to be! read more

The Halal Guys opened their second Atlanta area location in Midtown in November 2018 and I'm definitely a fan. The food here is delicious, filling, affordable, and served up quick. The restaurant is located street level in the Modera Midtown apartment building (same building as Japanese restaurant Momonoki and Momo Cafe). You get 2 hours free parking in the Modera deck with validation from Halal Guys (ask at the register). The entrance to Modera's deck is just to the left of The Halal Guys' storefront. Metered street parking is also available. Use the Parkmobile app to pay for, monitor, and add time to your meter if needed. Zone 51554. Street parking is free on Sunday. This is a fast-casual restaurant chain where you stand in line and servers behind the counter prepare your order, on the fly, in assembly line fashion (like Chipotle). The restaurant is new and clean with an open kitchen, self-serve drinks (both fountain and canned/bottled), and a small variety of table and counter seating. It's a small place. The inside can seat maybe about 20 customers while the uncovered sidewalk patio outside seats about 12. There are two keypad-locked unisex restrooms. The menu is simple. You can get a sandwich ($6.99) or platter (small $7.99, regular/large $8.99) filled with the following: chicken, beef gyro, combo (chicken and beef gyro), or falafel. Sandwiches come wrapped in pita with lettuce, tomato, and sauce. Platters come with orange rice, lettuce, tomato, pita triangles, and sauce. Their sauces include their popular "white sauce" (a server told me it's mayo with herbs), hot sauce (it's legit spicy), and barbecue sauce (it's good). Sides and desserts include hummus, baba ghanoush, and fries ($2.99 each), falafel (2 for $1), and baklava ($1.99). I really like both the sandwiches and the platters. I think the sandwiches are a bit tastier than the platters because you get to eat that warm, fluffy, and soft pita wrap; however, the sandwiches can be messy to eat and the platters come with more food. I'm not a huge fan of the pita triangles that come with the platters because they're thin and relatively hard. The pita that comes with the sandwich is where it's at. I prefer the beef gyro over the chicken, but the chicken is fine too. To me, the beef gyro is almost lip-smacking good. It's got a nice, tender consistency (so does the chicken) and an almost addictive savory flavor. If you get a sandwich, I think beef gyro is the way to go and if you get a platter, you should get the combo (beef gyro and chicken). The white sauce is a must and, if you spicy food, the hot sauce too. The Halal Guys' hot sauce is concentrated so if you've never had it before, you might want to start small. I like to get 2 or 3 lines of hot sauce in my sandwich or platter. Their barbecue sauce is actually pretty good too. It's smoky and strongly flavored. You can always ask for sauces on the side. The falafel are yummy. They're delectably crispy on the outside and warm and comforting on the inside. At 2 for $1, they're a good cheap side to get. Service I've experienced has been great. The staff has been polite, attentive, and quick. When dining in, servers will come by with squeeze bottles of sauce if you want more sauce. This place works well both for dine-in and takeout. At the time of writing this review, if you check into Halal Guys on Yelp, you get 20% off your order. My experience at The Halal Guy's Midtown location was unsatisfactory and I will not return due to poor customer service. I placed my order via the app. I ordered the new Chicken Wings and a side of French fries. When I arrived, the employee informed me they were out of chicken wings and asked if I wanted something else. I informed him I didn't because that's specifically what I came for and requested a refund. He asked me if I still wanted the fries or a refund for the entire order. I responded a refund for the entire order and mentioned an establishment with good customer service would have at least offered me the fries free of charge for my inconvenience. He didn't say anything and proceeded to the register to process the refund. The manager was in the area too witnessing everything and even he didn't offer me anything for my inconvenience. I understand being out of an item but I never should have been able to order it if it wasn't available. Also, I should have been offered something for the inconvenience I was caused. This is especially true when I drove extremely out of my way for my order. Mistakes and mishaps are understandable but not attempting to make it right is what makes you lose customers. read more

The perfect late night/ post party food option! With its origins being from NYC to serve a cheap wholesome meal at a stand on the street of NYC to cab drivers... halal guys has come a long way! No frills, no elaborate menu just great food! The concept is similar to that of chipotle or chicken where you start off selecting bowl or sandwich then your meat and then make your way down the condiments. The chicken and gyro combo platter is my favorite. The meat is always flavorful. The price is just right! If you are looking for a fancy meal... this isn't it. Good place if you are craving something with a vegetarian substitute. It was only after I ordered the falafel plate that I saw the Beyond Meat shawarma option, so I'll definitely go back for that. The food was good but a little underwhelming for the price. The Baba Ganoush was ehhh; didn't taste terribly fresh. The white sauce is a must as that accentuates the platter, but be careful of the hot sauce: a few drops can make the dish lethal. 2 hours free parking in the Modera garage is available and they are open late. Although I've been told that the Atlanta location doesn't compare to the NY original, I love this place and am very grateful that they've expanded here. I love getting the platter/bowl here and I always get it with the spicy red sauce and the "white sauce" (as pictured). The first time I tried Halal guys was back in NYC so I was really excited to find out that there was one opened in Midtown! The location in Midtown is really nice from being surrounded my buildings and apartments. There is also a parking deck that is located a walkable distance to the restaurant. There are outdoor seatings available as well. There is only one thing I get at Halal guys and that is the beef and chicken combo platter. It is a MUST to order the first time visiting because it has a little bit of everything. They give you a generous amount of meat with the rice and vegetables. You also have the option of adding different types of toppings to you platter, like jalapeños or cheese. Also, BEWARE of the red sauce it is VERY spicy. I like to ask for the red sauce on the side, just to be able to control the amount I want. The service is very quick and friendly! I highly recommend giving this place a chance. Whoever was working on 07/21/2024 at 4:30 pm should be fired immediately. I ordered a regular plater with sauce on the side and the sauce was forgotten. I can't stress how inconceivable it is for a Halal Guys to not include white or red sauce. Otherwise, you are eating soso rice and dry beef. Not only did the incompetent workers forget the sauce, I was the ONLY customer in the restaurant. There was one mobile order waiting for pick up and I was the only customer. This has happened before on a DD order but never in person. Maybe I'm the idiot who should've checked the bag, but I actually asked for sauce on the side, and couldn't dream of a world where the employees made this kind of mistake. If this wasn't the only Halal Guys within 15 minutes of my apartment I would never come here again.
