I've been a Halal Guys customer when they were just running the famous food cart on 53rd and 6th in Manhattan. Lines of people waiting in all sorts of weather for some chicken and rice speaks to why they were so popular Then they went on this massive expansion all around the country. I was more than excited when they opened up shop in my hood. This Halal Guys is located in a shopping center right off 288 but kind of hidden. I think a street facing space would benefit them. Parking is always plentiful. My visits here have always been pleasant with great customer service. Halal Guys is known for their famous platters of chicken and rice or lamb or beef and rice. They also have falafel if you want to go vegetarian. Now that they have brick and mortars, they have lots of other options like wraps, loaded fries, and wings. I never steer away from the OG platter. It comes with a base of seasoned rice, lettuce and tomatoes, protein of choice and their famous white and hot sauce. In the carts they slather the sauces on, but now you can get packs of sauce to dress your own. Be very careful with the hot sauce as it packs some delicious, but very spicy heat. You can also add additional toppings like peppers, onions, jalapenos and olives. The platters can look deceiving and may not look big, but you can easily have two meals off a regular platter. I typically go chicken for my protein, but you can't sleep on the beef gyro or lamb. Mix everything together and you have a perfect bite of deliciousness. I've had a few of their brick and mortar locations, but nothing compares to getting it from the food cart on the streets of NYC. These days, there is alot of similar type restaurants all over, but my heart belongs to Halal Guys. I will definitely be back. read more

First time trying Halal Guys in Pearland. When we arrived they didn't have any rice so they asked us if we would be willing to wait 17 minutes. We had both been set on eating here so we decided to wait. Once the rice was ready, we were happy with the presentation, size and quality of the food. We ordered a side of falafel on the side and it was crispy and fresh. The lettuce was also crisp and not soggy as we've experienced at similar places in the past. The staff was quite nice. Food was good. I enjoy their white sauce. The only complaint was not having rice ready and the unexpected wait as a result. This is about as standard as you can get in terms of Halal food. Clean ingredients, decent gyro, all the usual toppings (onions, green peppers, olives, tomatoes, etc). I usually get the regular platter with chicken and beef gyro. It comes with lettuce, tomatoes, yellow rice, and pita bread by default. Onions and green peppers are free of charge if you ask for it. The chicken is a little plain. I recommend going fully beef for your entree in terms of flavor, but sometimes I split it with chicken just for the extra protein. Other than that, solid entree all around. The manager here is very nice and conversational. He started as a worker here and got promoted recently. Love the aroma in the restaurant when I opened the doors. The aroma whetted my appetite. I ordered the small and regular beef gyro platter. The beef was thinly sliced but the portion given was very generous. The veggies given were also plenty. The rice tasted good too. The platter was delicious. It is a must to add the white sauce in the platter. I love their white sauce and hot sauce. The white sauce paired very nicely with the meat. Their hot sauce is legendary. For people who can't take spicy, just a dab of the hot sauce will do. Staff were very friendly. The wall paintings showed where The Halal Guys started out. The drawings are eye-catching. I have been a loyal customer of the Halal Guys for years. I've eaten there in California, New York, and Supported them in Houston when they first opened their first store. But lately, I've been growing frustrated. This franchise nickel and dime you every day. I'm surprised they didn't start charging me for the air I breathe at their stores. Constant price increases and reduction in portion sizes are out of control. No wonder Stores are closing... $15 for a platter and if you want extra meat? That's almost $6 extra (for a tiny scoop). Suggestions to management. Improve the following if you want to maintain your business. This is coming from a person that use to eat 3 times a week at least. - quality control: no excuses for being inconsistent with food portions and presentation. - Re evaluate your prices. $17+ for a tiny platter with hardly any extra toppings (that you also charge extra for) is ridiculous. - Stop focusing on things like "chicken wings" or some other new trendy "limited time" menu item. Your primary focus should be on your main menu item. GYRO, chicken and falafel. I go to Popeyes to have fried chicken, when I go to the halal guys, I expect a Gyro. I'll give this particular location one more chance next month. If no improvement is made, I won't bother. read more

While visiting the area we decided to try out The Halal Guys. Store was very clean and welcoming staff. Food was stored well and good temperature. We ordered the combo platter of chicken and beef. Assembly line mode of building your platter. The basic lettuce, tomato, onion and green pepper options. It was extra for humus (about $1.60) and olives and jalapeños were about $0.60. The portion size for the "extra" cost was too small. Each platter came with three pieces of pita bread triangles. Roughly half a pita bread - bread not tasty at all. The food itself was good for a chain location. Standard flavors. We also ordered their passion fruit lemonade, and it was neither passion fruit nor lemonade. Watered down and minimal flavor. I finally stopped in this evening to try The Halal Guys. This restaurant is in the space that The Simple Greek used to be in (which is a bummer because I never got to try their food). There was only one other person in front of me when I ordered. I chose the chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, onions, and bbq sauce. I also ordered a side of fries which weren't ready when I went to pay, but it didn't take long for them to fry. The chicken is good and I liked the bbq sauce but I think I should have tried their white sauce on it. It tasted more like a taco rather than a gyro. I tried to get a photo of it, but it didn't do it justice so you will have to use your imagination. The fries are crinkle cut. They were way too salty! All of the employees were incredibly friendly. Hello to the World of Yelp once more. I just wanted to share a quick review of one of my meals this weekend. I decided to try something new and of course, when it's new, I order enough for 2, to try a few things on the menu. Halal Guys where the winner! My order: Falafel Platter Falafel Sandwich Mint Lemonade Mango Lemonade Topped with bit of Tahini. Falafel Platter: consist of a seasoned rice, falafels, tomatoes and lettuce with the options of a few select condiments. I asked that the platter and sandwich be made the signature way. The olives were extra. Falafel sandwich: consist of the same items on the platter minus the rice. Pros: The tomatoes and lettuce were very fresh and the rice was a fresh batch as well. However, I cannot over look the Lemonades, the better of the 2 was the Mango, the mint was a bit watered, however palatable, plus I like lemonade. Cons: Both the Sandwich and The Platter lacked any true flavor, the falafels for me were inconsistent in the taste as if there could have been different types of falafels. The Tahini alone didn't do it for me and sometimes can be overpowering in taste. Maybe a squeeze of lemon juice? Overall Halal guys in my experience of sandwiches/wraps and falafels from my travels just didn't quench my palate. 3 stars because the service was great and the workers full of energy. Glad I did because the service and the food was good! I explained this was my 1st time and the guy broke everything down for me. They have two platters. There's a dollar difference in price or you can get a pita sandwich. comes with lettuce tomatoes your choice of me with the platter you have rice, and with the pita you don't have rice. The onions and peppers are free but if you wanna add any other sides, it's a cost to it. I feel like I work there now The guys were really helpful with making my platter. I got a small platter with a combo chicken and Gyro meat with olives which was an extra $.59. I also grabbed a vitamin water to go. this location is only about 15 minutes from me, so I definitely can see myself coming back in the future. Many years ago, I visited The Halal Guys first location off of Shepherd. This halal chain started in NYC and they have a great story. Many years ago, Muslim taxi drivers didn't have a lot of halal late-night food options. The Halal Guys was started to address this need in the market and they have blown up ever since. I was happy to see the expanded to my backyard of Pearland and I have visited quite a few times since they opened. You order at the counter and they have your food ready for you right then and there. I always go with the same thing every time. The combo rice platter which comes with chicken, lamb, seasoned rice, tomatoes, lettuce, pita bread, and your choice of sauces. There's a white sauce, red sauce, and BBQ sauce. The red sauce packs a punch so I'd avoid it all together unless you can handle the heat. The white sauce though---that's where it's at. You have your choice of two different sizes. If you get the large, it can easily last you for two or three meals. The interior of the restaurant is nice and the service is friendly. Since working from home. I have become the queen of DoorDash. So a few months back pearland has opened a Halal Guys. I used to visit the Farnham location regularly when I lived in that area. So I'm glad there's is one here. My first order was DoorDash and it was the same great taste. My second visit I actually went in to the location. The time I was there they were still fairly new to pearland. At the time they didn't offer the halal guy rewards that the other location ordered. It's probably different now. Me, being the sucker for marketing that I am, I decided to indulge. I ordered a passion fruit lemonade, no ice. It cost $4, which is almost HALF the cost of my entire meal. No worries, who can turn down delicious passion fruit? Anyway. I get my drink, and it's made with no ice as I requested, but... WHERE IS THE REST OF IT?! I don't like restaurant machine ice for reasons that I won't get into here, but that doesn't mean that you all get to skimp me on my $4 drink and not fill my cup! If it wasn't 101 degrees outside I would have went back inside and complained, but I didn't have the energy or the extra deodorant to make that 90 second trek from my car in the blazing sun again. This was my first time at this location. The establishment was nice and clean. I was ordering to go but I would have gladly ate in. The guy taking my order was very polite and was sweet enough to put fresh chicken in my Beef and Chicken combo regular platter. I also had the baba Ghanoush, which I was able to taste before I committed to getting a full side. I didn't care for the pita chips so I needed up dipping my fries in it. The fries are fresh and dropped in the grease right when you order. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars is you have to pay extra for veggies like olives, bell peppers, and onions, as with other similar places veggies are included. Did you ever order some thing for takeout and then totally feel like you've been scammed? I ordered one of their specialty sandwiches today and it cost $19. I was expecting to see something grand. A normal sandwich costs $9. I ordered through GrubHub and it added an additional five dollars on top of the in-store price of $14. Granted the sandwich was really tasty. The Halal Guys have come to Pearland! Grand opening today. Have been eating their food in the Houston location for years. This new location doesn't disappoint. The food is full of flavor. Just make sure you get the right amount of spice. For me that was 4 lines of the red stuff, but I like my food hot. I was so eager to eat my food, I forgot to take a picture. I have eaten at the halal guys 2 times. once got a gyro and once the rice and beef plate. all in all everything I have had has been ok. nothing great. the platter price is $11 before tax. half of the plate is chopped iceberg lettuce. the rice was dry and had little flavor. you have to drown the plate in the white sauce to make it worth while. my biggest issue is the way they handle the beef gyro. they have vertical broilers behind the counter but instead of shaving off a fresh portion of meat, like every other place I have been to. they shave off buckets of the meat and keep them in warmer. this makes the meat lose any chrunchiness it would've had, while also dry it out. in the end you are paying a premium prices for mediocre taste. I say skip. better places in the area. read more

I had the chicken platter which was a good portion with fresh ingredients. Pita bread was included in the platter price. I also tried the handcrafted hibiscus lemonade. The platter had lean meat and the hot sauce was quite hot so it was good I got it on the side. There was too much ice in the lemonade which made it not a good value at $4 although tasty. I was able to drink it in a few sips. Also, I got my chicken platter to go and the lid was not on well so a lot of it spilled in the bag. Halal Guys was great! I've heard a lot about the chain but have never tried it so I was very excited one finally opened in Pearland, and was definitely not disappointed. As of this review, they still didn't have a permanent sign up so it was a little difficult to locate but they are right next to Leslie's Pool Supplies, in the building across from Chipotle/Five Guys. I had the falafel platter with onions and the white sauce, and it was delicious. The falafel was fresh and hot - they actually fry it on demand for you (hence a little bit of extra wait time), and the lettuce, rice, and tomatoes with the white sauce was absolutely delicious as a combination. The regular size was definitely more than sufficient for a meal - in fact, the small sizes probably would've been perfect for me but the difference in size/price made it not worth it in my mind. It does seem like they're still just warming up since we waited a fair bit to order when there. There was one customer in front of us, but they ordered about six platters so not an unreasonable wait time. There was some confusion also when they had to get a manager to redeem our coupon, and then when they forgot what we ordered and almost gave us the hummus the person behind us ordered. I can't fault them since they've only been open for a little but hopefully the ordered process will become a little smoother in the future! read more
