LOVE THIS PLACE. It has a great vibe with an eclectic-style patio and very nice staff. They have a wide variety of food selections on their menu which I also really appreciate. This is a nice neighborhood bar and grill with a huge outdoor area nicely complimented by the cozy indoor area. The service is super friendly! The food is pretty good with a few veg options mixed into many traditional meaty pub ones. They have a lengthy wine list, which I didn't expect, and of course, a good beer on tap selection. I stumbled on The Handlebar Pub & Grill and had an amazing lunch surrounded by very nice people. I was given the choice to sit inside or outside on the patio. I picked the patio and asked that the outdoor heater get turned on. The menu looked good so it was a difficult decision. I finally went with a green chili bacon cheese burger with brussel sprouts. The burger was delicious!!! The green chilies and crispy bacon went well with the hamburger meat. The brussel sprouts were seasoned and cooked perfectly. read more

From the moment we walked to the restaurant, I knew our fate was sealed. I don't want to do this! The people were so nice! But oh my lord the food. Restaurant: Outdoor dining options in the Arizona winter are most welcome. The seating, however, was lawn furniture; some tables were propane fire pits with lids. Not exactly comfortable to eat off of. Smoking is allowed though. Menu: no fried food here, which is a good and bad thing. More on that later. Beer selection is good! Food: Its greasy spoon boomer food. I'm sorry, but that's what it is. My burger was soggy from the onions and the patty was done to hockey puck wellness despite my request for medium. The beans were..... kinda ok. Edible, but not spectacular. A meal fit for a boomer, the intended clientele based on the age group we sat among. I'm quite young at age 36, most people sat around us had at least 20 years on me. My girlfriend's tacos were also nothing to write home about, relying on the bell peppers for flavor. The potato skins weren't great. They need to be fried. Service: folks were nice! Our bar tender was super quick with drinks. The food was VERY slow getting to our table. Very surprised to see this place have as high ratings as it does. Good work on the business owner for addressing the comments online, but we were completely underwhelmed from start to finish. The appetizers were hardly edible and the sides we got with our main food were about the same. Also, paying over $100 to be served on plastic plates the whole time is a little ridiculous. Our server was not as friendly or attentive as I would have liked to see. The service was slow for no reason on top of that. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are stopping by from out of town. I am assuming this place is popular with locals who don't know better or don't have easier access to decent food/service. Maybe it's fun after a few drinks and with some live music, but an afternoon lunch for $100+ could have been spent elsewhere. read more

Friday lunch had no wait at all for a table under the covered outdoor seating. The atmosphere is clean, fun & laid back. The outside temperature was cool so it was nice to have a heater on the table. There was a long wait for food which is clearly stated at the hostess stand. If you are hungry, order an appetizer. Menu selection was diverse. The grilled chicken salad was phenomenal. There was zero wilted lettuce and the right combination of toppings. The pepper stuffed with pulled pork was AMAZING! We sat outside and listened to a couple with a guitar sing music. They were delightful and the music was at a comfortable level- we were able to hold a conversation while they played. Excellent beer selection here. I was in the area and really wanted ice cold beer. It's an old west style bar here and they do have nice selection of draft beer available. The one I had from local Arizona with coffee in it was really good. The second one with chocolate was good but not was good was coffee one. They serve typical bar food here and fish tacos I had was quite good. Most reviewed signature potato salad was good if you like potato salad. I liked the blue cheese in it. It's deceiving how big the patio is in the back of the restaurant, and it is majority outside. Food is homemade, no fryer, priced well and delicious. I am a vegetarian and had a grilled tofu with veggies was absolutely delicious. Very surprised. My mom had cheeseburger and they had multiple sides to choose from today's special was potato skins. I've been to the Handlebar many times throughout the years and have always enjoyed the food. The Panini & asparagus are phenomenal & I love that there are sides other than your basic French fries. The drinkers in the group always love the variety of beers and my friend who refuses to drink anything other than margaritas will drink the wine based ones they have there. The service is always great & the staff are always welcoming. I also enjoy that although the seating is outside (for the most part) the patio is always comfortable. read more

A fun place to meet up for drinks or just go alone to, the patio has a lot of decorations and they change their IPA's often so you can always try something new when you go there. The service is great and the people that go there are friendly. It's been a while since I've had their food, but I don't remember having any complaints. Constructive Feedback: "Bruschetta Burger" evokes an expectation of a burger actually served on bruschetta bread, yet it was on a plain bun. It was (originally) dressed inadequately with a tomato end piece and just one small leaf of basil. On request, they made up for it by bringing two more healthy slices of tomato, another good sized piece of mozzarella yet only one more small basil leaf with the insistence that the single basil leaf is their staunch policy with this burger!!! I recommend to avoid any further disappointment, you add at least two more leaves so that the flavour has a chance of remaining consistent through the whole burger. I appreciated that they have no fried foods & instead offer healthier choices like smashed potatoes! In my opinion, using fingerling potatoes gives a better crispier smashed potatoes result, regardless, the whole potatoes were delicious, even if not what I expected. read more

Interesting vibe, with greenery and tables scattered by a bar, some with cover, astroturf on the ground, dogs welcome - only one visiting at the time- table fire pits and overhead propane heaters (chilly days) a very good live duo providing mellow favorite tunes. Servers were friendly and efficient, and food was good, fresh, nicely presented, tasted fine, above average but not great enough for 5 stars in my book. I didn't go inside, but it seemed a great neighborhood hangout, pleasant and not rowdy at all, with most patrons over 40, many in their 60's, although a few families and young people were there, it was a place I would return to when I want a beer and burger or fish tacos, (no fries but smash potatoes or potatoes with veggies) sit outside and talk. Bring some friends and have a cold beer and hear music- a really nice pub with above average food and great selection of brews and wines- and you get real glasses, no plastic cups here. read more

We've been coming to Handlebar regularly for about 4 years now. We've tried almost every item on their menu and have never had a bad meal. All the food is quality, fresh and seasoned well. Their burgers are amazing and while they don't have french fries, their sides are way better than plain old fries. They smoke all of their meats and the flavor is fantastic. They keep a great rotating list of craft beer on draft and in cans plus a selection of ciders and wines. They have live music some evenings and their patio is large and comfortable with lots of evap coolers generating a cool breeze. Really the only criticism would be that occasionally during the busiest times service can get a bit slow, but that is actually rare and not unexpected. We love this place and take all of our visitors from out of town here. Highly recommended! read more
