    Wing soup

Lately the food quality has dropped. My "crispy" wings were literally swimming... their Cajun fries were soft... and literally piles of powder on top of the fries... really underwhelming experience... Use to love coming here.. But I guess I can't blame the cooks. They start people with 20+ years experience at minimum wage.. so you pay for what you get

This place is pretty plain looking from the outside - but is a very nice bar inside. Great menu and lots of items and condiments made in house. An amazing broad and diverse selection of beer. Sports in TVs everywhere and a touchstones jukebox. The food is really good. We tried a couple appetizers and entrees and all were solid. Very much a neighborhood joint with plenty of regulars. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this place, everybody was super friendly, and the place was very clean inside and out. I ordered the Cubano sandwich and although it was on the smaller side, it was very good. It's nice to see these little mom and pop place once in a while. These guys definitely do a good job and they're definitely worth giving a try.

If you are a cheese curd fan and searching for a location like we were, then this is the spot for you! They are only $6 during Happy Hour (Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm). They are really good, though the ranch dressing was very runny which was a little off putting (hence the 4-Star as small room for improvement). They also have the option to substitute an Impossible Patty on their burgers, which I loved! The waitress was thoughtful to bring an extra plate since we were splitting. The California burger's guacamole was loaded with red onions which didn't suit my palette but still good overall. We loved the atmosphere of the location and how it has changed since Barro's was in this spot. To complement the cozy dining room, the service was very friendly and attentive for reviews. So grateful this location showed up in Yelp when searching for "cheese curds."

Great news, the brews are good and the food is too! Super service- including taste test before we settle on our brew of choice. There's a brew on tap for everyone at their causal, indoor or outdoor seat yourself dining experience. We chose the cauliflower appetizer with hot buffalo sauce, which did not disappoint! We tried 2 burgers - see pics included. Also, walnut cranberry salad was super fresh. Give them a try, with 2 locations in the east valley - there's no excuse

Chupacabra was open, was a three-minute drive, and had excellent reviews. So my decision was made. I parked on the street for free a minute away on foot. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much your typical beer bar. Relatively small inside, but they also have a patio out front with picnic style seating. Casual. My type of bar. My only complaint? I hate picnic style seating because it doesn't give you back support. Which made me want to avoid the patio. Service (5/5): Super friendly service. The guy working the bar did a great job. I ordered one beer and called it a night. A seamless experience from beginning to end. They also have complimentary water in a water cooler, which is always a nice ou Food (N/A): I read they have food trucks, but I didn't see any when I visited. I had dinner prior anyway. Drinks (4.5/5): I love trying new beers and Chupacabra has an excellent selection. They have a rotating screen above the bar. Some interesting brews, ranging from local craft brews to quality European beers. This is not the type of place that has your typical assortment of mediocre beers. You'll find a lot better here. Overall, a cool spot in downtown Mesa. I'd definitely return the next time I'm in the neighborhood!

This is my at-least-once-a-month spot for catching up with friends, popping in solo, or grabbing a "just one drink" that may or may not turn into two. The beer selection is massive, borderline intimidating, and the wine list rotates often, which I love. Pro tip: don't play beer roulette unless you enjoy surprises that might hurt your feelings. Instead, tell the bartender what you like and they'll work their magic, usually with a taste so you don't commit to something you regret. As a wine drinker, I especially appreciate when they suggest something I wouldn't normally order and absolutely nail it. The vibe is casual but a sort of kind of sexy (weird). The dim lighting, great energy, and zero pressure might be it. Bar seating up front, games if you're feeling social, and high tables in the back for groups or communal mingling. It's the kind of place where you can settle in... or pop in, pop out, and still feel satisfied without spending your rent money. They have small bites like grilled cheese and occasional cheese plates, but let's be honest, this is not a food destination, and that's perfectly fine. My beer-loving friends can happily sample half the menu while I sip a perfectly chilled Sauvignon Blanc and judge none of it. And finally, the real MVPs: the bartenders. Always friendly, always helpful, always down to chat, especially if you're there solo (hi, it's me again!). They'll listen to you ramble, offer great suggestions, and somehow make you feel like a regular even if you're just stopping in briefly. Reliable, fun, unpretentious, and consistently solid. The Whining Pig is a downtown staple for a reason.
