We are long time customers here at the handlebar. We have never been disappointed until now. It is because of the popularity that they have created by offering great food and a pleasant atmosphere. But last night was just too long of a wait for everything. To get a table was 50 minutes, to get a drink 20 minutes and our food took 45 minutes. All together it was just too long. We arrived at 5:30 and left at 8:30. We are locals so we will just wait until the off season for our next visit. read more

Wow, I was SO surprised at what a great place this was. I was skeptical when I arrived as it was late and dark and I was in AJ, as a visitor a little wary of gun toting beer drinking folk! Wow, I was SOOOOO wrong! I sat on the back patio, with the string lights, live music and Astro turf I was totally obsessed with the unique and kitschy vibe! Unique, rustic atmosphere. We love the outdoor seating area and the food is always fantastic!! The only tip I would suggest is for the hostess to be friendlier. She was busy but customer service needs to be first & foremost before word spreads & they lose business. read more

The look of this place takes me back to Hawaii! Didn't really think they would have anything for me, being vegetarian. As I skimmed the menu looking for something I found salads and a potato mixture side I believe. I ended up with a kale salad not really having high hopes, but it was awesome! It had a vinegary taste to it and was crunchy not soggy. The lady that had served us was awesome and everyone was very sweet. The lady that had taken our plates while walking by every now and then was very nice, as I continued to ask for stuff and she politely told me she would let our waitress know, no matter how many times I asked for something she was very nice. I came here for the first time in early January 2020, today is my fourth visit. The beer list is huge. The food is epic, especially the smoked potato skins, and the service is great. Sitting outside in the back is like a neighborhood backyard gathering and has such a cool laidback feeling. A nice "go to" on a sunny afternoon. read more

Boy oh boy-- we have been 3 times now during our visits to Apache Junction. Great little pub, huge beer selection (also non-alc drinks) but the food? THE FOOD! My fav is the stuffed pasilla pepper and if I can the smoked potatoes. My husband loved the peppercorn burger. Each of the other things we have tried on the menu fantastic as well but I must admit I keep going back to the pepper! There is a nice outside seating area if it's not too hot, and we highly recommend this place. Service is great! The last visit since I am focusing on more plant based eating I instead ordered the smoked Acorn Squash and smoked potatoes. Fantastic! I do miss my fav smoked pepper and if they ever consider an additional version (don't get rid of original - meat eating folks would miss out!) stuffed with say beans/corn/zucchini.... and then smoked.. I would be right on board with that again. We will return. read more

When I pulled up I thought, ok, Ill give it a shot. I was brought here with my wife after a nice day of off-roading nearby. The outside will give a divey impression and the inside is very small. Thats about all I have bad to say! The patio is amazing! Great shade and lots of seating. Very cozy patio area for sure, thats where we sat. They have a bunch of craft brews on tap! Not your typical selection either, wide variety of things I hadnt heard of! They also have many beers in can and bottle along with your domestic favs. The menu was small but great! They dont have french fries, which is very serious for me. I put this behind me right away though! They have a great side section from potatoes to grilled veggies. I got the Green Chili Burger with Grilled Brussel Sprouts. Everything was amazing! Great flavor on the burger and wasnt dry. Great service from a knowledgeable guy. Gave good beer guidance. Apparently they have bands there too on the weekends. Very sweet spot! A gem for sure! read more

Well first of all this place is amazing..... read on...... I went to meet coworkers here and, well, come in it's Apache junction.... enough said..... Wow they had the last laugh. The entrance/waiting area was spacious with fire pits and drink service. Friendly and comfortable..... Then walking back where I discovered the restaurant just keeps going and going. Perfect place for a gigantic party or event. Excellent food and WOW the BBQ sauce is so good I left with bottles to send to friends and family. Def going to make this a must visit a few times a year. Just hoping they open another location near me. It's s definitely worth the 20min drive!!!! read more

My husband and I really like this place. It is absolutely a hole in the wall but seems clean. The food is always great! They don't cook anything fried. They have great ciders and selection of beers plus a full bar. If you can get a seat on the patio, it's comfortable and the live music makes for a fun atmosphere. They don't take reservations or call ahead seating and I do wish they would. The wait is always really long for the patio and they don't have much of a waiting area where you can sit for the hour or more you might have to wait. We will probably avoid it while the winter visitors are here or just plan to sit in the bar inside. read more

Best fresh food, the only reason a sane person wouldn't like something on the menu, is a medical one like allergies, because everything on the menu is delicious. Went for an early dinner (5pm on a Wednesday) all tables full so we sat at the bar ( we actually liked this better) My husband ordered the sirloin steak, thick piece and cooked rare as ordered, flavored well and served up with their Handlebar potatoes and a salad - at $15.99 it was a great value. I chose the salmon ($15.99) Although flavored well, it was very small and thin which might of been the reason it was overcooked and hard; topped with mango salsa and served again with those amazing potatoes and some asparagus. The asparagus pieces were small but very tender and topped with crumbled blue cheese; yum. We would definitely eat here again and I would give the salmon plate another try. read more

This is such a neat place, tucked away on Main Street in Apache Junction. It's really one like no other in the area, offering the best local craft beer and foodie inspired dishes that you wouldn't expect this Far East in cowboy land. The menu has your standard bar food, (i.e wings, hamburgers) but offers a great array of sandwiches, paninis, and killer creative sides, including my most recent favorite, the squash dish, or the feta cheese and asparagus. There are often fun events such Brewery Takeover nights (often featuring one of the many local Phoenix area breweries) or Beer Float events, among others. I I can't speak to the hamburger flavors, but I hear they're amazing. A vegetarian myself, I do struggle with the lack of vegetarian options and come here more for the beer list. I usually end up loading up on side dishes. Even the salads are chicken or steak, although I'm sure I could ask for the salad without the meat if I chose, they're very accommodating and friendly. There used to be a great pizza option that I would usually go for, but that has vanished and my latest visit left me torn between a grilled cheese panini (which is really really good!), the Eggplant dinner (I'm assuming this is their special vegetarian entree option) or a pretzel, which, although delicious, warm and fluffy and leaving me nostalgic for Germany, comes with a cheese pizza sauce that has meat chunks. Decisions decisions. I would not hesitate to give the full five stars if there were just a few more veg-friendly meal options. I can't blame them though, it IS in Apache Junction, where I am often met with rolling eyes at the mention of my meatless diet. That is not the case at this place, they'll happily try and steer you towards meatless options as best as they can. I am a sucker for bike themed venues, and this place is adorned with penny farthings and New Belgium's Fat Tire decor, and other bike themed trinkets to swoon over. A word of warning, the inside can best be described as "cozy" and I've been left more than once without a spot to sit at this busy spot, and I don't wonder why. Usually a spot outside can be found, or perhaps a seat at the bar. But this "cozy" feel also leaves it extremely loud on nights when the band is playing. You literally will not be able to hear the person you're with if you sit inside on a band night. But the service is fantastic, everyone is very knowledgeable and quite passionate about the continuously rotating beer list. And never fear, wine lovers! There is also a popular wine list for your sipping pleasure. And the patio ... if it's winter time or great weather, don't miss a chance to sit on their super cute patio set up and enjoy the desert's wonderful rays. Prost! read more
