Went out for a business lunch and was very very pleasantly surprised by this place. Saw it had good reviews online so we stopped in. First thing we noticed was the smaller than usual tables for us 4 bigger guys. Second thing was they didn't have anything fried (french fries, onion rings, etc) so we were a little sceptical. We ordered the steak tacos, green chili burger, mushroom burger and they were Awesome. The smoked potato skins put French fries to shame. A little pricey for a burger but well worth it!! read more

What s great cycle ride destination! Right iff the Apache Trail near downtown AJ with great views. Don't stop in the bar, go out to the tiki themed patio with lots of table privacy and some corn hope. The Pub has an impressive array of craft beers so stay thirsty my friends! So, we heard about this place from someone at the gym we go to. We decided we'd meet with them there sometime. Well, hubby was super excited about going as we were told they have 29 craft beers on tap. We were to meet our new friends on Friday night but hubby decided he wanted to try it the night before, too. We were greeted immediately, handed their drink list and told it was about a 20 min wait. On Thursdays they have $6 beer flights so we picked our 4 (4oz) choices. Hubby was disappointed that they didn't have but 1 amber ale but a ton of IPAs which he's not a fan of. We were seated outside which is decorated very whimsically with a bicycle nature theme being prominent. It was still light out when we we seated at a table next to a wall with a large metal under the ocean art piece that had moving lights. Thursday's is blues night with live music from area musician. Very nice, not too loud. We ordered the Pork 'n dip and chips to start as it had high reviews on Yelp from other reviewers. Not disappointed at all! Came on a platter with dip in a plastic deli like container surrounded by tortilla chips. The pork was finely shredded, wonderfully seasoned and smoky. It had some diced sweet and spicy pickles mixed in and topped with a sprinkling of melted shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses. We ate every morsel!!! We decided on burgers with a choice of 1 side, hubby had cheeseburger with snow peas and carrots that had balsamic glaze. I had the mushroom and Swiss burger with bleu cheese potato salad. Hubby doesn't read very well so when asked what kind of cheese he wanted on his burger he thought the choices were mozzarella, pepper jack and Swiss. He chose mozzarella. But they did offer cheddar which he would have liked but missed it on the menu I guess. We have this issue a lot when we go out. So it's not the establishments fault at all in this instance. The mozzarella on top looked like it was fresh, 2 thick like roundish slices, but barely melted. He asked for medium cook but it was well done. He said it wasn't juicy but rather dry. He didn't like the veggies either. I told him before we even went that they DO NOT have a fryer so no French fries, yet when asked what side he wanted, even after I read the choices to him, he asked the waitress for French fries. Really dude!!! My burger I asked for well done cook which I got. I knew they couldn't mess that up LOL! Mine had plenty of melted Swiss and sautéed mushrooms. It too was a bit dry though had good flavor. The potato salad was good but definitely needed salt. Our flight was an amber ale, a blonde, a light ale and a gose aged in tequila barrels. We each ordered a 16 oz beer after finishing the flight. It was dark by the time we finished and there are a ton of twinkle lights in the trees and bushes and structures. Made it very calming, romantic and magical. Our waitress was very humorous and attentive. Hubby was a bit taken aback by bill total for what we had, thought it was on expensive side compared to other restaurants we frequent for equivalent choices of meals and drinks. We did go next night as planned to meet our new friends. Sat inside at bar table. Friday is their rib night. Hubby had liked their Pork n dip so ordered that again. I was hungry and wanted to try their ribs so we split a meal. They do charge a split plate fee of $1.00. Although it only a buck, come on! Really?! How many restaurants charge a split plate fee. I think they make plenty on the beers we drank while we shared the meal. Extremely small rack, maybe 4-5 inches long, 6 ribs total with their smoked potato skins. These are baby potatoes (not regular sized potatoes) cut in half, cooked (smoked) with very small dab of sour cream and green onion on top. I think there were total of 4 halves. The ribs were tender and not fatty. Smoked with dry rub and served with cup of bbq sauce on side. I ate my 3 without sauce. I had 2 beers and hubby 3. Still thought bill was too high for what we had. So although the atmosphere is unique and fun and the music is great I don't think we will frequent it too often. Maybe just for a beer and their pork dip. read more

So, the positives... kitschy outdoor seating with fans and air conditioning. Despite 95degrees, we were very comfortable. Good service and cold drinks. Negatives? Small portions and high prices. It was Friday Rib night. I got a half rack (barely) 5 ribs and 3 small potato skins for $16. I was shocked at how small the portion was- almost by design- it fit on the plastic plate... plastic ?? Really? Husband ate a panini and jalapeño corn, it was just okay. Been there, done that. I have had better ribs and a better value at Applebee's. read more

BEWARE of hidden charges! I ordered the special- a brisket sandwich for $12.00. The bill came and I had a 75 cent "meat charge." When I asked I was told because meat prices are rising they are adding a surcharge. Ummm then the price is $12.75 not $12.00. Dont get the alaska salmon, over cooked and unseasoned light pink salmon. Wild alaska is usually darker with the skin on. This tasted like bland farm raised. A regular place for us to go enjoy great food, friendly staff, and cold beer. We enjoy listening to the live music pretty much every night of the week. I just had the best hamburger of my life -- the peppercorn burger at Handlebar. I'm not exaggerating -- it was perfect. The grilling gave the meat an ideal seared taste, the peppercorn aioli gave it a slight bite, and the blue cheese added a tang. And it was no fluke. The sides were also great -- huge portions of potato salad (also flavored with blue cheese) and snow peas with carrots. There were a few downsides -- the service was slow, and fairly inattentive. They also got my order wrong, but they corrected the error immediately and without complaint. And with food like that, I can overlook some other imperfections. read more

Can't tell you how disappointed we were after reading all the great reviews. Looked on the website before going and was super excited to see bbq brisket sandwich. Got to the restaurant and will say the staff and atmosphere is great, but couldn't have been more disappointed in what food they had on the menu!! There were only about half of the choices that they show on the website, no pulled pork or brisket sandwichs, no steak, basically just burgers and chicken panini a few other things. I love the beer menu and service! It is a kitschy and awesome atmosphere. However, the menu is really not favorable for vegetarians. At all. Many items you can't even request without meat, such as the smoked potato skins where apparently bacon is mandatory. There are great recipes for burgers, but no veggie or black bean burger. If you like grilled cheese, then the grilled cheese panini is good, but you can only have it so many times. The lack of vegetarian options limits how frequently we come here. :( read more

Loved the vibe of it being more of a saloon or honky tonk than of a restaurant. We shared an order of the nachos and they were great. The meat was nicely seasoned but not overcooked and topped with plenty of melted cheese. We'll definitely be going back. read more
