At least 3 times a day (when I am out anyway) I hear, "Wow, your nails are beautiful", "OMG I love the color on your nails" or "Did you just get those done?" I'm new to the area and I've been on the hunt for a nail salon. I tried out the Happy Hour based on the reviews I saw here on yelp. The salon itself is well located in downtown Poulsbo and is really cute. They have 3 or 4 nail stations and 2 pedicures chairs. I made an appointment on a Friday for a gel manicure and a pedicure. My service started off with the pedicure. The chair I was placed in was old and didn't have any sort of massage feature, which was disappointing for me - that's half the reason I get pedicures. The pedicure itself was just ok. My tech cut my toenails extremely short without ever asking if that's what I wanted. The massage was almost non existent, she mostly just rubbed lotion on my legs and feet. The polish was really messy and ended up all over the cuticles. The gel manicure wasn't actually a manicure, just a shaping of the nails and application of the polish. I actually had to ask to get some lotion to put on my hands afterwards. The polish application itself was pretty bad. I requested a standard French manicure. My tech used the polish wand to apply the white tips, but never went back to clean up the line, so it looked like a messy white glob on the tip of each finger nail. At one point I asked if she was going to fix that and she said she thought it looked ok. So then I asked to have an accent color put between the white and pink to cover the messy line. My tech said she couldn't do that, but had one of the other girls take care of it. The extra accent fixed the issue, but wasn't what I wanted in the first place. The polish application overall was also pretty bad. There is gel all over my cuticles. In order to have long last gel polish, it needs to NOT touch the cuticle, otherwise it starts to lift and/or peel much quicker. Overall it was just really disappointing and kinda surprising. I've never been to a salon where they essentially didn't know how to make a clean white tip for a French manicure. Everyone who worked there was honestly really nice and it was a great environment. Unfortunately the services just weren't up to par for me, so the search for my go-to nail salon continues. read more

How have I not reviewed this place? I love this place, it's clean, professional and fun. I usually get a gel manicure and it's reasonably priced at about $30 (with tip). Additionally the run the gameshow network all day, which is some seriously quality TV and they keep a bowl full of chocolate stocked at the door. Love it. read more

These ladies are AWESOME. I had a last minute eyebrow emergency (long story) and the owner got me in with the girl who normally does facials since the girl who does waxing was gone for the day. She made my eyebrows look waaaaaaay better than the last time I got them done. They're perfect! The atmosphere is great too, super relaxed and hilarious. THE BEST. I'm a nail biter who thought acrylics could help me stop and Sarah rocked it. She specialized the entire process to fit well with my small, bitten nail stubs. She didn't use any glue after I told her I didnt take well to it the last time I got them. She didnt use any tips she hand made them all out of powder which made it really good for me because I'm not a super 'girly-girl' and I dont like my nails painted or long. She used only top coat on top of the pink acrylic color and made them as short as she could with them still looking good and proportionate. Thanks Sarah!!! read more

I will never go back to this place again! The gals there are nice but you have to wait at least a week to get in and a basic mani/pedi cost me $75 (w/a15% tip)!!! And I brought my own polish!!! I still even have dead skin and callous on the side of my foot even tho I pointed out that's a problem area. I used to get acrylic fills and a pedi for about this price at another BETTER place in Gig Harbor not a friggin basic mani! The atmosphere depends on how busy it is, but typically the game show network is on and people are chatting. This is by far my favorite salon in town. The ladies there are great. I can get shellac nails (gel) for $25 that last about 2 weeks. The have me in and out in an hour, even if I want a French manicure (which some salons need an extra half hour for). I have been very pleased with my french manicures there and I have had them by the owner, Trista, and Jenny. They stand by their work and go extra lengths to make sure that I'm satisfied. If I need an appointment, they are always able to work me in when I need it. I have referred several people there that are very happy with the services too. I have had brow and lash tinting, eyelash extensions, gel nails, brow waxing and pedicures and they've all been top knotch without any problems (or infections(!) like some other salons in town that charge almost twice the price!) It's funny that the name is The Happy Hour because the clients seem relaxed and happy and so do all the employees. I know the owner (Christy) tries hard to make it a really great place to work and that makes me feel good about giving them my business. I wish more business owners would think about that and not just their bottom line. A definite jewel right in little downtown Poulsbo! read more
