Scrambled egg harsh brown sausage and pancakes
Mark W.

I was in the area for a wedding and stopped by this café for breakfast. It's a small, cozy spot located at the Miner Camp, just a 2-minute walk from our campsite. I ordered scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, and added pancakes for an extra $4. Everything was tasty and hit the spot. The coffee was good too.The service is excellent and food deliver in a reasonable time! If you're looking for a solid breakfast around here, this place is a great choice -- can't go wrong.

My friends and I were in town for a wedding and stayed in Foresthill. We weren't sure where to go for breakfast and came across The Happy Mouth. We were so glad to come in here! The vibe is definitely welcoming and casual - which is exactly what we were looking for. We each got to peruse the menu, which was pretty extensive, and everyone found something they liked. Most of us opted for breakfast but a couple people in our group wanted more lunch. The food and beverages we ordered came out quick and the servings were hearty! The crowd favorites were the breakfast sandwiches, fruit smoothies, lattes, and veggie egg scramble. My only regret is it taking a muffin to go!

Whole double burger. Huge & satisfing.

Just had a massive and delicious double cheese burger at Mega's. Grilled double patty ,properly seasoned with fresh tomatoes, lettuce & red onion. The Mrs was smart & ordered the single burger( no fries on the menu, maybe no deep fryer?)This Local eatery serves a good breakfast all day long as well.

New and fun Drinks!

5 Stars - A Must-Try Spot! Hands down, the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. The flavors are unreal! The Happy Mouth always brings fun, fresh energy with new and exciting drinks. Their newest addition--dirty sodas--are absolutely awesome. Can't wait to come back!

Great place to grab breakfast or lunch... just don't expect fast service. The Happy Mouth is the former "Mega's Cafe" and I have been going here for years. Ownership changed around mid August 2024. So, if you've visited prior to this- I suggest you check them out again! I think they kept most of the good and improved the things that needed improvement. A majority of the menu is the same, with some items added and some removed. For example, there used to be a "smothered" breakfast burrito that is no longer on the menu. They have expanded the drink selections significantly and have a bunch of different "Red Bull Infused" drinks. I've heard these are very good... but energy drinks aren't my thing anymore. This is definitely still a small town place. You walk in and you can smell the food cooking because the ventilation has never been very good. You'll smell like the food after you visit even if you get your order to go. Depending on what you order, expect to wait 10-20 minutes for your food. They don't do fast food, they do good food as fast as they can. I think the old owners used to have this posted. Overall, serving times have definitely improved. When I would visit the place before the new owners, there would be times I'd have to wait over 40 minutes! I've since been a few times and it's never taken over 20. They also used to serve everything in styrofoam containers (even if you didn't order to go) which I always through was weird and uneconomical. They now will serve food in trays and sometimes paper plates. They now use clear plastic containers for to go orders. I think it's a better option than styrofoam. The place really is very good! My go-to is always the country breakfast burrito. It has all the breakfast meats along with cheese, potatoes, and gravy. It's served with salsa (probably Pace or something similar) and sour cream. It is HUGE and for $12 also a great value. I've never been able to eat the whole thing so I usually just eat half and save the other half for the next day. It's very tasty and I think they switched the potatoes because the last one I got I noticed had red skinned potatoes... which made it even better. Do yourself a favor and try this burrito if you haven't... I'm sure you'll enjoy. I will also get a burger occasionally. I like the Wildfire Spicy burger because it comes with green chilis and spicy mayo. The burger is always cooked medium well and is very juicy (never dry), even though I believe the patties are previously frozen. I do like the new potato buns they use opposed to the old sesame buns when it was Mega's that were somewhat dry. I ordered with potato salad which was ok. The baked goods are all phenomenal. They are made from scratch and always fresh. Thank you Happy Mouth for having good food at a decent price! You definitely make my mouth (and my wallet) happy!

Biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage. Also, had a java chip Frappuccino.

In town for a wedding and happy to see this spot walking distance from where we are staying. Definitely has a small-town feel. Staff was attentive and friendly. Food came out within 15mins of ordering. Had the biscuits and gravy with side of sausages - how can you go wrong? I also had a java chip frap. Everything tasted great!

Good coffee. Good meeting spot for coffee and talking. Food is ok. It takes a little long if it's busy. But I think it's worth the wait.

I saw some pancakes go by and the name "Awful Waffles" makes my VEGAN self a little envious. Happily, I had enough to choose from that gave me some VEGAN friendly option! I chose the "Triple Veggie Sandwich". It was fabulous! We loved our food server but the best part was the food runner, Braydon. Super chill and has the best "sure, no problem" attitude!

I celebrated my clients birthday yesterday!!…read more Happy Birthday, Dianne!!!! She picked Awful Annie's so she could enjoy an Awful Annie's Famous Body Mary! It had a touch of spice and was garnished with celery, a green olive, a spicy green bean, pepperchini, a lime, and a pearl onion. For lunch, we decided to order of the weekend specials menu! I ordered the Carnitas & chorizo Huevos Stack and she ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dip... service was good. While we waited for our food, my client had to use the restroom twice. From where we were sat, it was quite a long walk, but it was an accessible ramp she was able to use since she has a cane. The steps would've been too much for her. When our meals arrived... both were stunning. My huevos Stack was not all it was cracked up to be. Although they had great crispy tortillas underneath, it had a lot of other soft foods on it that didn't give it much texture. Refried beans, over medium eggs, pico de gallo, red enchilada sauce, and not much meat on it to go around the plate to even it out. Dianne's Country Fried Steak Dip looked and tasted like it was created by someone that knows their breakfasts! Between 2 slices of parmesan toasted bread, there was a thin country fried steak, with over medium eggs, cheese, and BACON!!! And a side of gravy to dip into. That was a million times better than the huevos Stack! So I politely asked our server if I could switch to that special. She got the order in right away and it was out fast. Every bite had the perfect amount of flavor and their sausage gravy tasted insanely good! Both my client and I went home worth half of our meal. She was so happy and it melted my heart that I helped her have an amazing birthday. With the help of Awful Annie's, they helped her birthday become a home run!!! Delicious bloody Mary's, double delicious on our Country Fried Steak Dips, and fine service from the best in town! Thank you Awful Annie's!!

I had the special (not on the menu, don't remember the name) Pork strips, mushroom gravy, spaetzle and a salad. Salad was interestingly unique with lettuce, carrots, warm cooked potatoe chunks, vinegar and oil dressing. Pretty tasty non breaded pork was tender, mushroom gravy had a nice salty ness to it, spaetzle was soft chewy porous egg pasta though tasteless by itself, good with the gravy mixed in. Mrs had the Hunter's Schnitzel. Essentially the same as my meal with a pounded, breaded thin pork patty. This was good with a fried crunch. Beer and wine served (Trumer German style Pilsner), couple of the owners friendly old dogs wandering around the bar seating, like eating at Grandma's house. We tried dessert this time and were not disappointed. I had the Bison short rib and boy was it terrific. The meat was tender and flavorful. The asparagus also was fork tender and so tasty. This was one of the days specials and I had to try it. I literally cleaned my plate, it was that good. Wife and 1 kiddo got the ribeye and they were huge. They each took almost a half steak home with them. I had to sample a few bites first of course. My other child ordered the pulled pork and a clam chowder. She didn't care too much for the sweet BBQ sauce on it. So we ordered a burger, which she absolutely loved. They graciously marked down the sandwich, which was very nice, as we planned to pay for it and take it home anyways. For dessert we split the key lime pie and Blackberry Honey Lavender cheesecake. Both of them were amazing. So tart and tangy for the key lime it was really refreshing. The cheesecake was fantastic and the honey taste really came through. We never got dessert before, but plan to do it again. If you're ever in the area you gotta try it. Just make sure to get reservations. They have short operating hours, but it's so worth it. The service is phenomenal and they really treat you right. It's really one of our family favorites when we come up.
