We have been seeing the hype and advertising for this new location all over social media and curiosity, well, you know. So we ventured down there yesterday morning for a breakfast meeting with a colleague/client. We were greeted by Mario himself and then his staff. Their mission is to LOVE PEOPLE and they live this throughout the entire visit. Xavier greeted us and aboutbthirry minutes into our breakfast he came to check on us with a "Hows everything for you guys Joy?" The busser (forgive me for forgetting his name) brought a water bowl over for my dog on the patio and the food was presented and looked like a plate of beautiful art. Im a foodie so this was the test. Everything from beginning to end was perfection, 5-Star service and am coming back Saturday with other friends to enjoy it once again! I came for dinner, even though this is clearly a breakfast spot. We split the burger and the chicken piccata. The burger was solid, but the chicken piccata was just okay--nothing particularly memorable. It reminded me more of something you'd get at a diner than a standout Italian-inspired dish. That said, I don't think dinner is what Mario's Early Toast is known for. Based on the menu and the atmosphere, breakfast is clearly their specialty, and I'd definitely come back to give that a try. If you're looking for dinner, there are probably stronger options nearby, but I'm still interested in seeing what all the breakfast hype is about. read more

Well MET finally opened! We've needed new places to eat in Auburn and grass valley for awhile, so this was a nice addition. This place had decent food all around. My chilaquiles with carne asada was fire. The biscuits and gravy I tried was decent, but I'm a harsh judge because that's my favorite breakfast item. My family liked it, I like it. We love Mario's Early Toast period. From the first one we tried in Folsom, then the one in Roseville, to the one in Rocklin. All have their own personalities. On Mother's Day weekend we decided to head up to Auburn to sample the new venue. As expected, it was crowded but we made it there well after lunchtime. A little rough getting a drink at the bar but again, they are fairly new. Once we sat down we were assisted by Christian. Orders came out and what we expected. Love the toast, the food items, the spacious setting and the atmosphere. A nice little drive away from Roseville and great change of scenery. This location is open till 9pm! Imagine that. read more

Lots of nearby parking and easy access into the restaurant. Great ambiance and outside seating if you want it. We were greeted and seated, water right away and quick friendly service. We had the Monte Cristo and eggs Benedict. The food came out right away and was excellent. The portions are quite large so bring your appetite. read more

Notably, the food was hot and fresh. As my reviews of other restaurants, I don't care for lukewarm food so that was great. The food quality and taste was excellent. We have eaten here a few times. Last night we had my husband's birthday dinner and the service and the selection on the menu was amazing. One can eat breakfast all day long or lunch and they also have a small dinner menu as well. The waitstaff staff are friendly, serviceable and are always checking to make sure you're happy with your meal. We just happen to come across one of the other early toast last year and really enjoyed it. We saw that they were building a new one in Grassvalley/Auburn and could not wait for it to open. It seemed to take forever, but it is now open and it is my new favorite breakfast spot. The ambience is nice. It's a pretty restaurant with outdoor seating. That's pet friendly Amazing menu, they've got a lot of great choices. It was difficult to make a decision. Everything I have ever had. There has been excellent. They also have lots of choices for coffee drinks, but one of the most important things is whoever hires. Their staff does an amazing job. Wonderful, young men and women extremely polite great service. They are definitely one of the high points of the experience at Mario's Early Toast, we will be back often. read more

I went at lunch time on a Wednesday and it was fairly busy. But I got seated right away. Service was very good. This is the first time I have been to an early toast. I have been waiting for this one to open. The place is nice and they do have an outdoor patio. The food was good not great. I had chicken fried steak. There are better chicken fried in the area. Try something else next time. Fairly big menu. They will do good at this location lots of need. A little bit expensive but who isn't these days. Particularly the cost of a glass of iced tea. After reading some positive comments about the newly opened Mario's Early Toast in Auburn on social media, we decided to give them a try. Our first visit was on a Thursday morning and we were promptly seated at a somewhat secluded table located behind the host station at the entry area. We were provided menus when we were seated, but more than 10 minutes of sitting there, still no waters or no waitperson had arrived. We flagged down an employee and asked if someone would be helping us soon and a moment later our server arrived and took our drink order, then returned shortly with our drinks and took our food order. That was the only negative part of our visit. The eggs benedict was very good, with the eggs properly cooked, topped with a very tasty Hollandaise sauce. Overall, service was very good except for the initial delay and the food was very good. Prices were slightly higher than competitors offering similar meals in Auburn. Our next visit was on a Thursday evening and we called ahead to make a reservation but were told they do not accept reservations less than 24 hours in advance, and they only accept reservations for parties of 6 or more people. When we asked why, we were told that is just their policy. The person on the phone told us they were not very busy at the moment and that there should be no problem being seated this evening. We proceed from home and arrived about 20 minutes later. We were told there was a 10 to 15 minute waiting time and asked for our name and phone number. There were no available seats inside to wait, so we were directed to additional outdoor seating out front and told they would call us on our phone when our table was ready. After about 10 minutes, I received a text message and we went in and were promptly seated and provided menus. Similar to our initial visit, no one came to our table for over 10 minutes to take a drink order. Shortly after 10 minutes our server arrived and apologized for the delay in getting to us and took our drink order. We ordered 2 margaritas on the rocks. When our drinks arrived, they were orange looking and tasting. I was unable to detect the taste of any tequila and there was a strong orange flavor. When I inquired as to the brand of tequila that was used, she said she wasn't sure, but said it was not regular tequila, but a variation of some sort that was not as strong as regular tequila. A review of the menu showed no mention of this and showed other drinks that claimed to be made with tequila and vodka. I suspect they only have a beer/wine liquor license and may be using wine based substitutes, possibly. We ordered dinner from the very limited dinner selections. My wife had the Chicken Piccata while I opted for the Steak Fajitas. Both of us were generally satisfied with our dinners, and rated them very good, but not excellent. My wife felt the portion of the chicken filet was smaller than usually expected, and the flavor was very good, but has had tastier chicken piccata at other restaurants. My steak fajita was also very good, but not as good as one of my regular Mexican food favorite restaurants near Hwy 49 and New Airport Rd. The portion was good, but slightly less than competitors offerings. Overall, very good, normally a 4-star rating for me, but the lack of prompt acknowledgement by any wait staff on both our visits was mildly off-putting. The lack of "real" cocktails without any notice that substitutes for "regular" tequila were being used felt deceptive. The lack of a normal reservation system conveys this is more of a diner setting. The limited dinner menu affirms their forte is more in the breakfast/lunch arena. I would rate our dinner experience at 3-stars and our breakfast experience at 4-stars. Overall rounding up to 4-stars. Readers can decide for themselves how they feel about the service delays, cocktail ingredients, and portion sizes. We will likely return for breakfast on occasion, but will go elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast was much tastier in our experience. read more

It wasn't horrible- but cannot say I would go back. My husband says I am more critical than he is (food industry for decades). Went on holiday- busy but they seemed to be managing effectively. Agree with comments here that the perception and even the knowledge level of some of the servers regarding what this restaurant provides is deceptive- they only hold a beer and wine license and not a full license. Love that they have bubbles but baffled at the choices - I feel that there is so many better choices in a much better range specifically in the mid high (very tolerable for this area). We put our names in and were told it would be 35 mins- no problem for us- we received our introduction text and we're told that we would receive another text when table was ready. After 40 minutes I had to go up to reservation desks after watching many people being seated before us and MANY open tables open. Then, "oh yea we will seat you now" (no text received). A million flies, annoying door opening and closing behind us...(my OCD), waiters were good. Restrooms were an absolute mess. Food was good- messed up only a portion of my order. Nothing was horrid- but nothing to me stood out as outstanding. I do wish them the best- they have a great location! read more

From order to table was 3-4 min. Thats not a good thing to me. Sausage and bacon seem pre prepared, and my eggs were still runny like over easy and I ordered over medium. Im all for timeliness but not at the expense of quality. Also my second meal which was a simple strawberry crêpes did not have any whipped cream. and for $50 I just expected better. Also, maintenancing the outdoor hanging foilage at 8 am during the breakfast rush while there are actively five parties outside on the patio eating, seems very unprofessional and gross. To say I was highly disappointed in this experience especially from a newly opened building is an understatement. The patty melt and garlic fries are delicious (you need to eat the garlic fries over the regular ones), but the food is pretty expensive. It shouldn't cost over $20 for a patty melt and fries. The service was great, the place was clean, but yeah it's a little pricey. read more

Dinner is awful - if you order the shrimp. I was completely sick after eating it (undercooked). When I went back to let them know a few days later and the Manager was a little unsympathetic and said basically ok, I'll let the kitchen know. Nothing special about the food. I ordered biscuits & gravy combo with over medium eggs & crispy hash browns. The eggs were barely cooked: very runny. The hash browns were swimming in oil. The gravy was pretty bland. The restaurant was beautiful. Lots of seating. The servers very efficient & friendly. High priced I suppose today for the decor. read more

We've came here a handful of times. Every time we get Carissa as our server. She is beyond initiative knowledgeable and goes the extra step every time we get her. She remembers us by name she remembers our conversations and checks in with us often. She doesn't make us feel like we are just another table. If you watch you will see she makes all her tables feel special and loved. She's the reason we come back so often. The food is amazing and the mimosas are delicious. They even have mocktails if you don't drink. So you have lots of options. I can see Carissa moving up and going far in this place. I hope she's recognized and stays cause she deserves it. The owner Mario comes in often as well. He checks in with his guest has conversations with them and makes them feel cared about. He definitely knew what he was doing with this place. I mean he has how many locations now. It speaks volume. We're going on a trip so I remembered to leave this before it was too late. When we get back our first stop home will be Mario's! read more
