It was a great stop on the way to Reno. We found this on Yelp and happened to get a reservation online. Reservation is highly recommended because it was packed when we arrive! No wonder it was packed! The food was great. Service was great! I got the ribeye which was cooked perfectly median rare with charred flavor. What a waste of almost $200, (without cocktails). Prices are far too high. Food very over cooked. Portions too small. If desserts were any smaller, you would be able to see through them. Many employees, however, they were too busy visiting with each other. Bartender was very attentive. Salads were basically lettuce with a bunch of croutons and dressing. Appetizer was laughable. I am updating my previous review from three years ago. Pros: comfortable atmosphere, helpful servers, excellent calamari and clam chowder, generous wine pour (Belle Glos Pinot Noir). BUT, instead of serving the wonderful French bread they used to have, this year they have started serving their own focaccia. It was that or nothing. It is gummy inside, over salted, heavy on the rosemary. I couldn't order their excellent steamed clams appetizer without good bread to sop up the savory broth because the focaccia overwhelms anything it is served with. We had such a great experience at Tin Lantern Bar & Grill! Christy was an incredible bartender, friendly, attentive, and clearly knows her craft. The martinis are fabulous; I ordered the lavender lemon drop and it was hands-down one of the best I've had. It was also nice to see that they carry locally made South Fork vodka. I had the chicken piccata for dinner and it was outstanding, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We came in with my husband, my in-laws, and our two kids, and everyone genuinely enjoyed themselves. The kids' menu was great, which kept the kiddos happy, and the atmosphere felt welcoming for both adults and families. Overall, fantastic drinks, great food, and wonderful service. Out for a boys whitewater rafting trip and we were looking for a good place for dinner. This place came recommended from the locals so we decided to try it out - and boy did it not disappoint I went for the filet dinner - which was perfectly done at medium rare (no overcooked meat here). Highly recommended, especially for someone trying to stay on the low carb side of the spectrum. Folks in the group also ordered the fish, the ribs and the other steak preparations. I don't think I heard one word of disappointment from anyone - so I am guessing everything tasted great I always go for the whiskey list - and these guys know their liquor well. There was definitely some good local beer and wine in the mix too - but I was happy with the bourbons I got. Great for groups, with a local go to place kind of ambience. We came towards the late evening on a weekend, and they were able accommodate our group of 6 - we did get a reservation an hour ahead of arrival. On our most recent visit, we were lucky to have Natalie as our server. She was incredibly friendly and helpful, recommending the egg roll appetizer--which turned out to be a great choice. It is so disappointing to have come here. I wish I could give a review on the food, but we never ended up eating. My husband and I were recommended this place by a friend. Their reservations were pretty full, so we took a later 7:45 time. When we arrived, we were seated at a table and brought water. After that, no one ever came to serve us or greet us. We waited 18 minutes before getting up and walking out. Several waiters made eye contact with us and looked like they might come over, but then would move towards another table. On the way out, we let the hostess know we were leaving (we also had to wait for her for a few minutes). She apologized and said there must've been a miscommunication. They make a very good Old Fashioned, so my stars are for that. I've stopped dining in as often because I'm just consistently "underwhelmed" with a "meh" sensation, and, the menu specials don't change often or rapidly. Oh, they do update the daily special on the website every day, but the same dishes and options appear so often in a season (or over a week or two) that it's good as not rotating very much, or makes me wonder if the items are not selling so they have plenty leftover the next day to repeat the same special. My grandfather has a great saying for the food, here: "It's neither great nor terrible." read more

We brought family visiting from out of state here, not having tried the food before--usually risky! I was so happy with our meals and our entire dining experience. My sister is a bit of a wine snob, (she owns it) but she and her huband were pleased with the wine selection/price. The service was very good too. We had a party of 8 and every single person enjoyed their meal. We went early because I was concerned about the noise level. Going early was a good idea as the noise level did increase as the space filled up. I was pleased to learn that they have an outdoor patio where well behaved dogs are welcomed. The Tin Latern Bar and Grill is an awesome little place in the heart of Meadow Vista. I highly recommend getting reservations and sitting outside if the weather permits. The food was delicious. We ordered an artichoke heart that was exquisite. In addition to this, we both got cocktails that were very good. The steak salad and pesto chicken sandwich were cooked to perfection. They were both tender and juicy. Furthermore, the pesto sandwich came with a spicy Mayo sauce that was very good.
