My friend and I had such a great time exploring the Hard-Pressed Cider Farm. It can be a little hard to find, but I would recommend putting the address into Google or Apple Maps and following it from there. We parked on the side of the road without any direction on a good location to park. It's a short walk to the trailer that features cupped cider, slushie cider, or even cider by the half gallon. We also got a half a dozen donuts. The donuts were delicious! Very soft and moist and covered in a delicious combination of cinnamon and sugar. The staff was nice and our order was promptly delivered. The farm has a great view and it was nice to be out in nature enjoying the farm! I stopped here on my way to Newport and tried the cold cider and cider donuts. I liked the donuts and they came hot out of the fryer. The cider was ok but I slightly prefer B.F. Clydes in Mystic. Theirs has more flavor and is sweeter. I noticed they had wood chips and gravel at the beginning of the walkway, so they clearly know they should have something on the ground for traction, but as you walk towards the back of the property where the donut stand is there was none. It happened to be muddy the day I was there. Probably not the best idea to have people walking through slippery mud to get to the stand. read more

It's worth the little trip from Providence to Jamestown to get a cup of hot cider, a half gallon of apple cider to take home, and as many extremely fresh and flavorful apple cider donuts as you can manage! The servers are always friendly, and the setting is usually in a great outdoor farm yard. During part of the year, the stand is located at Windmist farm, which is always a joy to visit and watch some of the sheep and cows while you munch away! Was looking for a place that served apple cider donuts because it's apparently a thing during the autumn months and wanted to see what all the hoopla was all about. This place did not disappoint! From Labor Day until Thanksgiving, this place is located inside Windmist Farm and serve their cider and donuts out of a food truck inside the farm property. Now, as for the donuts...YUM! I'm usually not a fan of the old-fashioned style of donuts but these with the crunchy outside and soft inside worked! I looked over at my husband to see how he liked them as he's not a big sweets guy but could tell he was pleasantly surprised. He said they reminded him of a type of donut from Okinawa (Japan). As for the cider, it was good but we've had better; we just ordered some cider from a local dairy farm we get our milk from and that one tasted better than the one served here. Their cider mill is located in the back of a farmhouse down a dirt road. Once you get to the mill, you have a scenic view of rolling hills and a town in the distance. This is a food truck of fun if I have ever seen one. This is on a farm, and you park awkwardly on the street and then walk in and first pass a mini little meat market store front selling all kinds of local cuts of meat. So come prepared for that if you live locally! We were only visiting and on our way to the airport and decided TSA would not like to see a bunch of raw sausages in our bags ha The farm is really nice and quaint, there are GIANT chickens so you can tell they are happy campers, cows and sheep roaming around, and then the main event--the food truck like venue that presses their cider and sells it cold or hot and their donut machine!
