Wow wow wow, I rarely write reviews, but I was moved to write this immediately bc it's tonight's special (2/27/26). Sesame tuna special with bok choy, shiitakes topped with Thai basil chimichurri and chili crisp with an unadvertised sprinkle of kimchi that was delightful. This place is really cute, and the outdoor seating is great. The waitress was really friendly. Our food ended up taking 45 minutes to arrive which was frustrating, but she comped 2 of our drinks to make up for it. Then, our cajun and zaatar fries came out as normal fries. The waitress took that price off the bill as well. The food was good, I had the veg head. The patty fell apart as I ate it, but the flavor was really good. The rest of our party said their food was super good. Overall cute atmosphere and food, I just wish the service was faster and more precise. read more

Hidden gem. The chef here is amazing and puts out some delicious food. Have a drink in the patio and listen to some live music.

This Irish themed bar had great service and excellent food. I had the chili and it was one of the best bowls of chili I've had in a restaurant in many years. My wife had the beet salad. I also had a gyro. The portions were very large and the value was great. We were sitting in a booth adjacent to the bar, and as we were leaving, half a dozen people at the bar waved goodbye to us, even though we hadn't been talking to them. What nice people. Easily our favorite place to visit in Amherst. The food is always delicious and includes generous portions of fresh ingredients. The owner/chef, all the folks in the kitchen, on the floor, and behind the bar are all friendly and attentive. Burger night is a great deal, and there are always vegetarian options available, which my wife and I really appreciate. Marissa at the bar is always offering interesting homemade syrups with her cocktail and mocktail options. Seems like every time we go in there is a new special item to try, and we are never disappointed. On a nice evening the deck is a great spot, and when it's cold out there is a fireplace inside. Great food, old school pub atmosphere. From the outside this place doesn't look like much, once you get inside you are surrounded by wood paneling, neon beer signs and a generous bar with bar stools. There is also a row of booths along the wall and another room with a few chairs and tables. (In warmer weather there's also an outdoor seating option.) You know you're in the local pub. Don't let the atmosphere fool you, the food was really good. My friends ordered the fish & chip special (GF by the way) and when it arrived it was a hearty filet, lightly fried and sitting atop a basket of phenomenal fries. I had one of the daily specials- chicken sausage grinder. Mmm- mmm. Husband ordered the chili, he gave it a thumbs up. Great menu, great vibe, staff was very cool. Was there last Saturday for the first time and saw one of the "funk bands" (which is an awful description, as they were a mediocre jam band) mentioned by another reviewer. The reviewer is obviously too immature to realize that he should be THANKING any bar that risks it's license when it allows minors to play, especially after I watched some kid get caught trying to sneak beer into the bar. This, from a musician. But I digress. Got the beef stew, which was awesome, and I'm always happy to find a bar smart enough to keep a couple of High West whiskeys available. I've been to many bars. I've been to fancier bars. In all honesty, I don't think I give an accurate review of The Harp because I *love* the The Harp. I saw the Sox win the series in 2004 from their patio. I used to come to hear Apollo Sunshine play every Thursday. Trivia Night is amazing. Amazing. Anyway, there's no other bar in Amherst I'd rather go to, the Irish Nachos are the best drunk food ever, and the pitchers are always cold. Harpo is an absolute treasure. TRIVIA! The Harp has a great Tuesday night trivia night. It's not your Boston-styled Stump boredom-fest though. It's a 50 question, 2 round superfest of wits, will, and an after-event buffet. The buffet is okay (comfort food), and the brews are good, and the atmosphere is great. Overall, it's a nice North Amherst hangout, with the added bonus of some great trivia. read more

This would probably make five stars if I was a student on a tight budget and wanted a place to hang out with my buds and drink volumes of beer. But I'm not. I went there to attend a party of sorts. We had the "Dining" area reserved and there was a buffet. The buffet was a simple fare which under the circumstances was pretty decent. But the it was close quarters to say the least. The tables were pretty wobbly and the plastic table cloths have to go. But, when the Irish band showed up, the place really started to warm up. I wonder what happened to the pool table. They do have quite a few beers on draft and are supposed have really great, fresh seafood on Fridays. I'll have to give them another go and update this review based on dinner. read more

Not a huge fan of The Harp. I know, I know, what kind of former UMasser am I to say such a thing?! The only way to do well at the Trivia is to get the collegian and the USA today day of, and study it. Thats...not really what trivia is supposed to measure. I thought. The buffet at the end of trivia is gross, but its a nice thought I guess. Beware in the warmer months - the fruit flies WILL get in your beer if you don't hang on to it and cover it. Their pizza is, however, pretty darn good. Worth going for the Irish Music night as well, thats pretty darn cool. And, on a weeknight, you can go there and have a QUIET beer in a booth with friends. A very nice feature. Not a must skip, but not a must attend, unless you're trying to remember what really annoyed you about college students and their hangouts. read more

Trivia Night was a staple of my college life. There was nothing better than driving way out to the Harp on a weeknight to listen to Harpo hoarsely yell at everyone who was jammed into the tiny bar. After trivia they serve you a buffet of absolutely disgusting (and delicious) drunk food. The place is a dump, but it has character in spades. read more

This place is walking distance from my apartment in Puffton Village which is an automatic plus. Decent selection of non-domestic beers on tap. Trivia on Tuesdays with a free buffet included in participation. Kareoke on Thursdays. If you're looking for a Amherst bar where you'll find the typical college atmosphere with young girls in short skirts grinding up on dudes (possibly you...), hit Amherst Center. We just finished dinner here and it was "feckin'" delicious!! Have never been here before but read some very good reviews and decided to give it a try. My wife had the Guinness beef stew over mashed potatoes. The gravy and mashed were phenomenal! I had the corned beef with cabbage,carrots and potato - the broth was so delicious I asked the waitress to bring me a spoon it was that good. Norah was our waitress and she was excellent. This place is a local bar/restaurant. Nothing to look at from the outside, you would be apt to drive past it if you were looking for a good place to eat - but the food was EXCELLENT. Second time that my wife and I have been to the Harp for dinner. Pleasantly surprised the first time by how good the food was. The second time was even better. The food is Excellent! My wife had the fish and chips. Came with slaw and french fries. Tartar sauce was home made and superb.. I had the rigatoni alfredo, with tomatoes and broccoli in the sauce. Had a side of red roasted potato.. The potatoes came in a light oil with herbs. Both excellent!! Who knew that you could get great pasta at an Irish pub!? The service was great. Our waitperson was friendly, attentive and knew the menu and could offer some recommendations. Very good beer and wine selection. This really is your genuine local pub/bar. Poor service, never got to eat. My wife and I stopped at The Harp on Friday at 4:15 for drinks and dinner. We were told the Kitchen didn't open until 5. We decided to wait and enjoy a drink, at the time we were the only people siting at a table although the bar area was busy. At about 4:50 a waitress came and offered us menus and said the kitchen would open at 5:10. By this time other people were sitting at tables. At 5:15 no one had come to take out order when she did come back we had decided to leave. We waited another 5-7 minuets to get out check and by that time other people were already eating. I also purchased some music via the Bluetooth juke box. My one and only song was paused by the staff and never restarted. No plans to return here. Not at all impressed.More read more

I've only been to the Harp a handful of times over the past couple of years, and I've only ever gotten the hamburger and wings, but I've been pleased every time. They cooked the burger medium rare, just like I asked! This doesn't always happen. I usually come here after a UMass basketball or hockey game. This is "as good as it gets" for a dive bar that's masquerading as a gastropub or a gastropub masquerading as a dive bar. Service is great and staff super friendly. Food ranges from traditional bar food to inventive and creative stuff--all good and at good prices. You can't mistake this for some high end restaurant.
