    Entrance - so cute!!

Had a fantastic experience eating in this historic Worcester Lunch Car No. 835 - one of the last ones to be made!! The diner is clean, food is delicious, and staff warm up quick and are fun to chat to!! But the homemade pie - omg the pie!! I had a huge piece of their cherry pie and it was TO. DIE. FOR!!! Passed by on my way to another town but the sign outside is what caught my eye saying "SUPPORT LOCAL" so you know I had to turn around!! And it was time to eat anyway. I went the whole nine yards for my experience and sat at the counter, bantering with the staff while watching them prepare food - was such a fun lunch!! I ordered their Fish Sandwich lunch special and a cup of chowda- all excellent! The bread on the sandwich was soft and so flavorful with a decent piece of fried fish - perfect ratio of breading to fish. That cherry pie was incredible - homemade with a soft, flaky crust - and the cherry filling was silky and had a perfect tart sweetness!! Topped with some whip cream - it was heaven! Took me 2 days to eat it all lol! The dining car is very cozy and retro fun! There is counter seating as well as booths. And the counter seating overlooks the grill and kitchen so you have built in entertainment! Parking is street parking in a charming little town - great for walking off your food. Will definitely be back next time I'm out that way! Thanks for an awesome lunch!

Was just passing through on my way to Mt. Ascutney. Real diner! Great food, hot coffee, and good prices. Staff can be a little moody, but that is fine by me! The train car is a "must see".

Stopped in here this morning. I love the classic old school diner feel. This place was from 1952, and it lived up to it. We sat at the bar area, the waitress was friendly and we got to watch the other employee cook the food. It was 2 woman show. But they did amazing. I went with the eggs Benedict. I never really ordered it before so had to try it here. It was delicious, the home fries were really good too with some ketchup. Definitely stop by if you wanna have some breakfast.

The Windsor Diner is what you'd expect from a traditional diner. The service is fast and friendly. The atmosphere is very traditional. I believe the diner car was built in the 1950s. The portion size is very good. It's always nice to be able to watch your food be cooked in front of you. Always ask if they have their homemade bread when you're they're. It's delicious. I've been here several times and I will continue to go as long as I live in the area. Don't forget to take your coffee to go.

Decent diner food. Great old time diner atmosphere. Experience the personal interaction with staff. Ask for Shelly a waitress with attitude in a friendly sarcastic fashion. Food was good I had a late breakfast with the home made hash. My wife had the pepper burger and fresh cut fries. Reasonable prices and good service. No extra charge for Shelly's advice. LOL

I love this diner! It has become a home away from home visiting my mom at the nearby Mtn. ASCUTNEY Rehabilitation center. The food is classic and tasty. With many fresh homemade and local option! You certainly can't beat the prices either! The waitresses are so incredibly fun, lighthearted, funny and helpful which makes having one of my meals here daily these past few weeks a true uplifting joy. The town of Windsor has free WI-FI and great cell service so this comforting colorful warm friendly place has become my temporary east coast office landing pad!

This is a very special place. Vintage rail car, with additional seating in the back as well as large booths. Staff is funny and friendly. Food is great and when it has been underwhelming I let Theresa know and she was happy to fix it. She goes above and beyond for me and others in the community. The staff is friendly and appreciative. They have a great sense of humor as well. Bathrooms are always clean as well as the restaurant as a whole. Big plates, heaping with food, and a laughing good time worth five stars to me. This is an experience. A small town diner with friendly faces you know. If you're looking for a more fancy pretentious place, this isn't for you. Just good comfort food and witty servers.

Everything was perfect. A blast from the past, with everything expected in an old dining car.

Absolutely mind blown…read more I have made numerous ski trips this way and always seen this place tucked away in the corner of my eye when approaching the intersection. No cell service so couldn't look up anything prior to entering. Lovely little diner, please remember to shut the door as you enter as it doesn't close. I made my way to the counter and started really looking at everything around the place. Personally could have kept all the political stuff out but I was here for food. Liked all the books off the side as well as the dinosaur toys. The message that is placed in front of you tell a good story, and they're not wrong one bit. Enjoy the company around you. I was blown away with the size of the blueberry pancake, and I was warned. Never have I taken a pancake to go because I didn't finish it. I had some corn beef hash too so that filled me up a bit, but this thing is massive! Definitely could've taken it down in my college days. I will have to come back to try and defeat it again. Anyways, I did enjoy my corn beef hash too, very potato driven. All and all, happy I finally popped in. Don't know when the next time I'll be back, but it is now on my radar of places to stop when ready for pancakes!

We found the Hartland diner which satisfied both my vegan and my husband's non vegan palette. The diner is tiny and unique. The booths were packed a little before noon already so we sat at the stools at the counter. The decor is eclectic with a strong liberal edge. For example I sat next to a cardboard cut out of Bernie Sanders with a VOTE necklace adorning the neck of the cutout. The menu is thick with the first have offering meat and dairy options and the later half providing the same options just in vegan form. There are A LOT of options! And the portions are GENEROUS! I had the cornbread which I would have again and again. It was so satisfying and filled with real corn kernels to provide a real corn taste. I then had a breakfast burrito with tofu scramble, avocado and hash browns. The burrito was heavy handed with hash browns but it was a simple fix as I just removed what I didn't want. The burrito was filling and delicious. I also liked the coffee ( they only have whole or oat milk). My husband had one pancake which was gigantic! It was hanging off the plate! The maple syrup was light and not too sweet. He also had a breakfast taco with bacon, eggs and hash (which was again loaded with extra hash he had to remove). This was another filling dish. Overall the Homeland diner was a home run. From decor to food you will be delighted, amused, and quite satisfied! And if you like broadway show tunes you are in for a treat...

All their pancakes are amazing, even though with my sodium issue I only get a taste of my husband's. My ole favorites were Pumpkin and their classic Sugar & Spice with the perfect amount of sweetness and spice mix. I wish they would serve saltless grits! That would make this girl happy! I only eat a couple of the potatoes, they are very tasty however salt is used or the rest of you wouldn't be eating them....am I right! Of course, my eggs were cooked perfectly! I keep forgetting you have ice cream! They also have many local theme items for sale and don't forget to not head home with Vermont's local Maple Syrup! We finally decided to try out S&S and I found it good, but not worth the 5 stars everyone gives it pancakes = well cooked, round, pretty standard. don't get 4 pancakes unless you want be in a pancake induced coma. also, they put a literal small ice cream scoop size of butter on the pancakes. Only IHOP does that and it's way too much butter. If you are eating all of that butter, you might need an extra dose of lipitor. Toast = kind of boring S&S pancakes = kind of tasted like pancakes with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Home fries = those were good I was there with two 16-year olds who both thought the food was "mid". I did see a small girl sitting with plate in front of her that had a waffle with ice cream and whipped cream piled so high, that it was almost as tall as her. Her eyes were huge and she was trying to figure out where to start. That waffle looked pretty good and as I passed the table, her dad was leaning in to "help out and keep the plate clean". They sell a lot of baseball hats and t-shirts.
