Blackstones is a nice classy spot. The bartenders are always nice. Came with a coworker for a pre fixe meal. I love the way the garnished shredded Parmesan melted on my penne a la vodka, it was so creamy and delicious. The salad was crisp with a good amount of vinaigrette. My filet mignon entree was cooked to the temperature I requested; I usually do medium (after getting sick from the concert hamburger I'm taking a break from raw meat) today I ordered it medium well, it had a good salty crisp on the edges. My colleague got it medium, hers looked plumper and juicer. The mash potatoes it was served with was soft, creamy, flavorful, and delicious. Coming here can be pricy, but the food is good. read more

Looks beautiful from the outside, but inside it's dirty, dated and not cared for. We went there for my son's birthday and were majorly disappointed!! The food was pathetic!! You'd get better food at a diner at a lower cost! Steak was chewy and tough, salad wasn't fresh and was just doused with oil, burger was disgustingly and horribly presented. My son ordered the lobster and truffle mac and cheese (it was $28!!) and the cheese sauce was out of a can and the lobster was tough and grisly. We all tried it and spit it out!! You expect a certain quality of food for that price point! The servers were attentive and pleasant, but poorly trained in high end service. Our server brought a table scraper and just scraped the crumbs on the floor!! One thing I saw that really grossed me out was that the used the same cart to load up with dirty dishes and glasses that they used to serve the food on!!! The bathroom was filthy and sloppy!! Went with a large party of 12 on a Saturday evening and had a great experience. The place was packed which always a good sign. The staff were attentive but not pushy - Joseph took great care of us. Traditional steakhouse menu with large meat portions and shareable side. I had the veal chop that was larger than I expected and cooked just right. The Brussel sprouts and sautéed mushrooms were very tasty. Some of the biggest shrimp I've seen in a scampi dish. Only gave it 4 stars as I thought the prices seemed high on several dishes. Dinner at the bar is the thing to do at Blackstone's, where Mike the bartender is quick to make you feel very welcome and at ease. The bar itself is very long - can fit possibly 25-30 people. Happy hour runs until 6:30, making it quite a bargain for those arriving early. You could fill up on the HH bar menu itself! The sliders (3) were incredible and the beet and burrata salad was also so delicious. We also shared the raw tuna sushi and it too was amazing. Blackstones is tucked into a strip mall and doesn't appear to be the sort of place one would happen upon and decide "let's try this place". No, I'd imagine you'd try it on someone else's recommendation as we did...and we are so grateful. We'll be back! read more

This is for the Southport location. The service was excellent. The food was very good. They have a great beer and wine selection. It was comfortable with a great ambiance. I'll be back for certain and hopefully soon. Some things to know: Parking can be a bit difficult but should be doable It is on the pricey side so be prepared for that. I think it's totally worth it. Steaks for certain are very good. We had filet (10 oz), veal chop and a burger (me). It might be the best burger I've had in years. Although I want to return to try the ribeye, the burger was so good I might have to order it again! We had Calamari (excellent) and clams casino (so-so). There aren't a lot of shareable apps on the menu It looks like the majority of patrons prefer to eat in the bar (we did). If you want a more intimate experience choose the dining room. That's it. This might be my new place. I give a 5th star for consistently excellent experiences so my 4 stars is potentially a 5 star experience. If I have another visit like last night I'll increase my rating to 5 stars. Enjoy! read more

We went to a morning-after wedding brunch at the Blackstone Grille in Southport. The food was delicious and the service excellent. My husband and I ordered 2 different entrees and split them. The French toast was fabulous - on challah bread served with a thin layer of custard in between pieces and thinly sliced strawberries on top. No need for syrup. Sautéed spinach was cooked well but way too salty. Three people at our table made special requests: no salt on their meal, mashed potatoes for fried, grilled chicken instead of blackened and grilled salmon instead of blackened. After many iterations of restaurants in this space, it looks like Blackstones Grille is here to stay. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The place had very few people. Our waiter was good and took our orders promptly. He made a few mistakes as he didn't really know the menu very well. We asked lots of questions and he didn't know many answers, but went back to the kitchen to find out the answer. One person asked for blue cheese and my salad ended up with it too. If I liked blue cheese it would be fine, but I don't. Everyone did enjoy their meals though. And then there was the bill. We put down 2 credit cards and asked the waiter to split the bill. He gave one credit card back with half the amount of the check and gave the other credit card back with the total for both couples. If we hadn't caught the mistake, the restaurant would have been paid 1.5 time the original bill. This is not the kind of mistake that a high end restaurant should take lightly. I went to Blackstones tonight for Prime Rib night which is always on Thursdays. The Ceaser salad was premade and ice cold and soggy. It was not fresh. The prime rib was supposed to be cooked medium and it came out medium well. My friends was supposed to be rare and came out medium. Both were cut way too thick and had the consistency of tough steak and not buttery soft prime rib. We both did not like it at all. Very disappointed. It was cooked like a steak not prime rib. Considering that's what we went there for it was very discerning. It didn't even come with a vegetable just lumpy mashed potatoes for $55. The whole meal from start to finish was awful. I took the meat home for my dogs, they will enjoy it more. The manager was extremely apologetic and took half of the meal off. But honestly it hurt to even pay for half. read more

However one thine for a special occasion I brought an exceptional bottle of wine and was told they do not allow you to bring your own wine. Steak connoissese write number 3 Today I am at black stones in Stanford, I am eating "Porterhouse for 2" with my mother and father. Here's what I have to say before eating it, that is WAY too big for 2 people, and, it looked PERFECT! My mom had salmon, me and my dad had the steak. It came with fries and some cream spinach. The cream spinach looked.. wait, I'm here to talk about steak! The steak was 2 steaks in one. There was a T bone, one side had New York strip, other side was filet mignon. It was so big the chefs had to cut it in the kitchen, then the waiters/waitresses would pick it up with 2 spoons and put it on your plate. After you had to cut those pieces to little pieces. And the red in the middle, IT WAS REALLY RED (and if you read my other reviews, you know I LOVE the red!) And it was FULL of juice. It was perfect, when you bite it, juice doesn't fill your mouth, but the perfect amount. Then, when the after taste kicks in, ITS THE BEST! We had an appetizer tasting and cocktails vs a meal but everything on the menu looked really good. We started with shucked oysters, I'd pass on these next time, my husband and I are oyster snobs and these were not really shucked properly, the brine was dumped . Everything else was delicious. On the recommendation of Mike we tried the fried calamari with the Sweet Chili Aioli, it was perfect with a nice light coating and tender squid. The lobster bisque was nice and creamy, and we loved the wasabi sauce that came with the tuna tartare. Mike also made the best jalapeño pineapple margarita I've ever had. read more

I was a regular customer since they opened. They used to be great. The food had slowly gone downhill as did their service. The night before my father's funeral in May, my husband and 2 adult kids went there to decompress after a very hard day. We didn't order our usual expensive wine. What happened next baffles me. The waiter (who has served us numerous times) LEFT as in went home before our meals were done. I was going to get dessert but I guess he was mad that we went cheap with the wine. Our family and friend's have been going to Blackstones Grille in Southport, for many years. Unfortunately, we had a very unprofessional manager Hadi A., talking to us disrespectful on May 4th 2025. No one should mock a woman when questioning a Happy Hour bill. I had no idea 3 weeks prior, prices had changed. I was trying to explain to the manager, that a customer should be informed prior to ordering, if there are any changes. He could not even indicate what the Happy Hour wine was being served that day, and indicated items change on a weekly basis now. He refused to advise me any information regarding the owners email or someone higher up. I have never been treated like this in any restaurant, in Fairfield County. Please find another restaurant, that if you have any issues, the manager will not ignore you. read more

I came with two friends it was amazing! We got a NY strip and I got a filet migon. Cooked just the way we liked it and the sides were amazing and a great portion especially for sharing. Recently went to Blackstones for a birthday dinner. Just two of us. Hadn't been in a while. Service and food was outstanding as always. When you compare the quality of the food and service, for the price, as compared to other higher end restaurants in town, you realize it's an elevated experience. Came here with my dad during Restaurant Week to take advantage of the deal. For $35 we got an appetizer, entree and dessert. I had Italian wedding soup as my appetizer and it was just okay. There was no sort of pasta in it which I'm used to and the meatballs were very dry, basically inedible. For my entree I had the filet and it was good, not great. It was cooked just the way I like but it wasn't super flavorful. The veggies that came with my filet were very lacking, I had like two bites. Unfortunately for dessert I wanted tiramisu and they had just run out and the other options were subpar. I had the mango sorbet which was okay, but not my typical dessert. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I ate here with my my family last night, and the scene around me was a living hell and belongs on a Kitchen Nightmares episode. There was a wedding rehearsal dinner going on as I and the rest of my family ate, and one of the hosts of the party kept asking what looked like the manager to have a server come and take their drink orders. The manager practically ignored him for nearly 30 minutes as the party demanded their drink orders. As someone who was a server for years, this scene made me cringe. I have heard from my friends and colleagues that have eaten here that there has been a history of mismanagement at this restaurant, and they have seen various fights between the workers take place here while they are trying to eat. The servers here are clearly improperly trained and unprofessional and it's mostly the bussers that do most of the work in preparing things and attending to each table. It took about 30 minutes just to order a soda for my son and I had to get one of the busser's attention to get a server to get it for him just because our server wasn't properly attending to our table.
