The first thing that hit me walking in the front door was how smoky it was, I get people smoke in casinos but they make air filtration systems for just those environments, if you don't smoke tobacco it's off putting. This casino has a great location just south of Trinidad up on a vista and it commands spectacular views of the rugged coastline, ocean and Trinidad harbor. A large parking lot with RV space as well. The sunsets on clear evenings are some of the very best in the area. Though there are a lot of spectacular views of the ocean in our neighborhood. All of staff, from the front door guys to the attendants and servers everyone was smiling, friendly and courteous. Great staff. There's a large full bar just off the main casino floor with a comfortable lounge, and stage dance floor area separate from, and across the hallway a few steps from the Sunset restaurant. Lots of slot machines going. Bingo room, and gaming tables. It's a small casino with one of the best locations on the planet for a casino and world class views of the Pacific Ocean. I give this 4 stars, what a great place to stay for 3 days and pay $20, when you sign up for the players club they give $10 bucks free on players club card and another $10 on the second day. Now that was fun we are not typical gamblers. The RV park is on a hill so, boondocking only, a hilly walk to casino. There is suppose to be a dump site close by you'd have to check that out yourself. My wife and I have attended 1-2 Bingo sessions a week at Cher-Ae Heights for the last year. We usually purchase the more expensive Rainbow or Super Rainbow packages and sometimes upgrade to 2 packages per player during the session. We estimate that we have played at least 2,500 actual bingo games this year (at 25 games per session per player). During the entire year, we have won less than $500 total, which unfortunately amounts to thousands of dollars in losses overall. And we have seen the exact same people win over and over and over each session, sometimes for thousands of dollars per person, and even up to 3-4 wins per session, 2-3 times per week. Something just doesn't seem right at the Cher-Ae Heights Bingo Hall. We have played Bingo all over the USA, at some of the largest Bingo halls in the country, and we have never seen such a high level of consistent winning by such a small select group of people before. We rank this Bingo hall the worst we have ever played at in the USA and have finally decided to end the madness and never return. read more

I was so overjoyed that I wanted to grab that defective hunk of a scale and take it home with me to make sweet, passionate, you-just-saved-my-ass love to it). Long story (not-so) short, they gave me $400 in cash for being humiliated in front of everyone. Humiliated? Puhleez, I've done worse for a free t-shirt and a corn dog. I still come to this casino when I'm in town and need to be reminded why I moved to San Francisco. Squid, shrimp, clams, and scallops in a watery tomatoe base without the clams or scallops. HORRIBLE. My replacement was roasted brussel sprouts in a salty aioli sauce. The sprouts were raw. My friend had blue cheese with the salad and received ranch. Next was the coupe de gras. I asked the waitress prior if the chef could make steaks Pittsburg Rare. Unfortunately, it is also a stomping ground for local Mafia of Humboldt county, that has a good grip on Humboldt's billion-dollars pot growing,distribution,and money-laundering business. Tribal folks are near powerless, and all they get is small monthly checks just to get by (none can afford to live by the sea, their ancestral turf). A number of folks work at the casino get rich helping through this transaction of dirty monie-laundering scheme.They are so closed-knitted locals that the Feds has little or no success so far trying to break up the ring. read more

2019. We went with friends for dinner and playing t he slots around April 1st weekend. We wanted to have a crab Louie for dinner. The crab Louie was horrible. It was "riced" crab, so the crab was all in tiny pieces on a salad. Flavor was o.k., but it was not a crab Louie . We were so disappointed. They need to tell us how it is presented ...certainly not fresh crab. Frozen would have been better stated, but not in the shape it was served. ( There are other items that are very delicious!! Ordered those next time) We went on to play the slots. We had not been there for about 2 years. (Some health issues). Also, for a couple of years, the slot machines did not pay well. I don't need to win every time. I do want some winnings in the middle of the game I am playing. It was a fun evening with the slots. Another evening, we had such fun playing the slots! New slots! We were with our adult children who had not been there (live out of town). They were winning/losing, but having a great time. Dick and I were playing new machines and low and behold...! We did o.k. Cher-Ae Heights has become the Casino I prefer to spend my hard earned Dollars. I moved up the area 6 months ago and have spent time checking out the various Casino spots in the area. I have found that Overall Cher-Ae offers more variety of machines, cool roulette table, a great bar, amazing views not to mention the only Bingo Hall around. Staff is friendly, helpful and stand out in Customer Service. Security is always smiling and offer to walk me to my car often, I think that is wonderful to feel safe and considered. The Crown Club which is the first Point of Reference walking in is always filled with a Welcoming Smile & knowledgeable staff. I realize that all this is such a positive environment because their General Manager, Ryan Sundberg actually makes himself available to the patrons & listens to concerns or opinions with more than a polite response, you genuinely get that "I care" feeling. I am so happy I have found a place where I can spend my Good Times and know I am being treated well and remembered. Beautiful setting, beautiful view from restaurant, doesn't mean good food. My wife went for dinner on 7/02/2020 and both ordered the fried chicken dinner which came with mashed potatoes and fried carrots. The sides were adequate. The chicken, a breast and leg/thigh portion, had a over fried crust, almost scorched. The breast was dry/overcooked. The leg/thigh portion was under cooked, pink, slimy and bloody at the bone. We told our waiter who subsequently informed the cook. The waiter relayed a message from the cook that legs have a blood vein next to the bone so there should be some blood. This is chicken! No under cooked meat, no pink! The cook didn't even bother to look at his under cooked chicken, just told the waiter to tell us. Bruised ego maybe? tried to make us complete by giving us a discount of 20% off the bill. I paid just to get out. Never again will I order any food here. Great location in beautiful Trinidad, CA and tons of friendly staff! It's ages 18 and up, since it is an Indian Casino. So there are the occasional young punks from McKinnlyville. Had a blast with my husband last night at the casino. Reading some of the reviews, I was a little unsure. I am very glad we ignored the reviews! Happy machines paid good, but not at first which kept things more fun and interesting. Tables were good. We started with $100 each and in total came out over $400 ahead in total. We will return at least once a month. I want to get there in time for bingo. The smoke was not to bad and we are non smokers. I am sure when it gets packed that the potential could get worse, but will not deter us as it is something we expect at some casinos. read more

We went there last night for their Thanksgiving buffet. Not our best decision. All the food that should have been hot was definitely not and all the food that should have been cold was room temp. The sweet potatoes were still crunchy, the white turkey was dry and stringy while the dark turkey was overdone as well and leathery on the exterior. The serving staff was pleasant but slow, hard to imagine since we were all getting our own plates... A final note, one of our party didn't finish her Pellegrino (fizzy water) she decided to take it with her. Out in the casino we were stopped. Initially he said "Oh just a Pellegrino, we were worried it was alcohol and would have to get you a bag. You aren't allowed out of the casino with that." WTF? we paid for it. He then said "you could have put anything in there". Really? like we carry around funnels... and for what purpose would we put alcohol in a Pellegrino bottle? Went to the sunset last night and took some friends out to dinner. what an embarrassment. we waited over an hour between the salad and the entrée. when they finally arrived, it was horrible! the prime rib special was anything but special. the meat was dry the vegies were barely cooked and the potatoes were lack luster. why would it take over an hour for what ist on special? one person ordered the carbonara with shrimp. the shrimp was not deveined, gross! the sauce was so watery it did not stick to the pasta at all. this restaurant used to be so nice before the remodel. it has definitely gone down hill. will not be returning. read more

Had dinner at their Sunset Restaurant. Excellent food! Beautiful presentation! Friendly service staff. We started with the Asian Steak Skewers. Nice combination of flavor - the cool cucumbers complimented the spices and sauce on the ribeye. Entrees - for me I selected the Stuffed Petrale Sole with shrimp risotto. Excellent and so much - I couldn't eat it all. Bob ordered the Whole Steamed Trout. Beautifully presented but a little intimidating-where to begin? The head chef came to our table and showed Bob how to tackle the feast before him. It was steamed to perfection and flaked easily from the bone. The desert menu stirred our curiosity. We just had to try the sweet and savory sundae- the Black pepper infused vanilla ice cream with candied bacon and white balsamic gastrique sauce. I love custard so I also ordered the Panna Cotto a beautifully textured custard with berries caramel sauce. Scrumptious meal. We dined watching the sun setting over Trinidad.
