stonework at entrance
Ray F.

A small casino by most standards, really beautiful stonework on the building front. The first thing that hit me walking in the front door was how smoky it was, I get people smoke in casinos but they make air filtration systems for just those environments, if you don't smoke tobacco it's off putting. This casino has a great location just south of Trinidad up on a vista and it commands spectacular views of the rugged coastline, ocean and Trinidad harbor. A large parking lot with RV space as well. The sunsets on clear evenings are some of the very best in the area. Though there are a lot of spectacular views of the ocean in our neighborhood. All of staff, from the front door guys to the attendants and servers everyone was smiling, friendly and courteous. Great staff. There's a large full bar just off the main casino floor with a comfortable lounge, and stage dance floor area separate from, and across the hallway a few steps from the Sunset restaurant. Lots of slot machines going. Bingo room, and gaming tables. It's a small casino with one of the best locations on the planet for a casino and world class views of the Pacific Ocean. Worth a visit if you're a gambler, looking for great views of the ocean or just about any reason you want. 3.5 Stars - rounded up for the friendly staff and location. 00608

Most of our party received cold food and service was very slow. Find out the next day that one of our party had food poisoning :(

First, let me start by saying the hospitality from Bob and Naomi was warm and welcoming. Five…read morestars. However, the grounds were quite unsightly upon arrival with debris along the driveway and throughout the yard. The room was clean, the l towels were teal green and the bedding was a brown patterned print. There was Bigfoot decor and articles throughout the room. The fresh cut geraniums were a nice touch. I would've expected the price point to be a little lower than what we paid. The bed was comfortable. I don't know that I would recommend but if you're tired from a long drive and need a place to sleep, it's appropriate

Gosh darn it I want to love this motel so much! The location is absolutely beautiful. We've…read morestayed here three or four times now. The first few times were fine. This time the water situation was terrible, and things were really run down. The water wouldn't fill the toilet, and all water in the rooms was brown. I say rooms, because the manager moved us out of one room that we suspect was actually being lived in by someone, and put us in what he called, "a better room." We couldn't shower, we couldn't make coffee in the provided coffee pot. The bed was pretty comfortable. There is a great, safe yard for dogs to wander around in, and that's one of the reasons we liked this place. In the past the place was mowed and well-taken-care-of, but this time the grass was taller than my ankles, and I wondered if they just couldn't afford the upkeep. I don't know what's happening at the Sea Cliff Motel, but I hope for their sake they can get it together and do the upgrades they need to do. Hard to do I imagine, with so few rooms and not charging much. I think they're in between a rock and a hard place. Three stars is generous... Here's hoping.

The kitchenette has all the basics you need as far as dishware and cooking utensils. Absolutely stunning views of the coastal sunset. I felt so serene and at peace. Our daughter is now grown up, so for the first time in nineteen years my wife and I were able to get away on our own for an anniversary vacation. In the past, we usually ended up in the fourth unit-- which is perfect for families of three-- but this time we stayed in the ninth unit, which has a wonderful jet sauna, a VERY comfortable king bed, a large kitchen area, and a very nice couch for hanging out after a long day beach combing or wandering in the redwoods. Every time we have stayed at the View Crest, the staff has always been friendly and accommodating and this visit continued that trend. I should add that the lodge is located very near to the redwood tree parks (my favorite being Prairie Creek), Su-Meg State Park, and Trinidad State Beach-- all of which makes for many days of enjoyable hiking and wandering. My only complaint about the View Crest is all their units are often completely booked! We look forward to our next stay.

Excellent selection for a hotel!…read more What we liked: -Secure parking lot. -Newly renovated rooms. -Comfy beds, very clean. -Excellent breakfast. -Nice pool areas, relaxing spaces. -Great TV / Channel selection. -Friendly staff Challenges: -Lots of stairs if upper level room. -One way roads on both sides. -Wonky light switches. Overall a great stay and will for sure be using this location again.

We stayed here for two nights on our way to Oregon. It was our first time visiting Eureka, and…read moreoverall our stay was okay, but there were a few things worth mentioning. Our first impression wasn't great. The gentleman who checked us in was surprisingly rude. The booking site had listed our teenager as a child instead of an adult, so there was a $10-per-day charge to correct it. That wasn't an issue--we expected to pay the difference--but he made such a big deal about it that it felt uncomfortable, almost as if he assumed we couldn't afford it. It was an odd way to start our stay. One thing I hadn't seen mentioned in other reviews is the location. The hotel is next to several large dispensaries. If that's your thing, it probably won't bother you, but if you're like us and don't enjoy the smell, you'll notice it the moment you step outside or open the window. The room itself was clean and nicely updated. My only complaint was a strange design choice: there was a table placed directly over the air conditioning unit, blocking much of the airflow. We visited in June, and with the warmer temperatures it definitely made it harder to cool the room. On the positive side, the location was convenient for exploring the area and visiting the attractions we had planned. The breakfast also exceeded our expectations. Instead of the typical waffle maker and stale cereal, there were hot options both mornings, including eggs, sausage, potatoes, and plenty of fresh fruit. Overall, I'm not 100% sure I'd stay here again. They have clean rooms, good breakfast, and convenient location. Just be aware of the nearby dispensaries and don't expect the warmest welcome at check-in.
