Stayed here for ten days. My girlfriend and I had an awesome experience. The hotel is pretty clean and they are very accommodating with providing normal hotel amenities (towels, tissues, etc). They offer a "Prime Rib Night" on Wednesdays and "Pasta Nights" on Thursdays. The pasta night was pretty good, you can build your own plate and get whatever you want in your dish. You receive a discount if you have a player card and sign up is free. They also offer a free breakfast, or coffee, for every morning that you are staying in the resort. As for the casino, it is pretty clean and offers various games including table games and slots and there is a poker room if you are into that. If you are a smoker, there is a smoking section, albeit pretty small, with easy access to cigarettes and oral solutions. There is a gas station down the street which has all of your basic grocery needs. Across the street, there is a facility called the "Epicenter", it is essentially a "fun zone". There are all sorts of activities to engage in, such as bowling, movies, arcade games and more. It is perfect for kids and adults alike. Me and my girlfriend had an amazing time bowling in there. The location is great. We flew all the way from New York to experience the Redwoods in person. The resort is about an hour away from old growth Redwoods both North and South of its location. There are various small towns around such as Eureka, Ferndale and Fortuna. They are all really nice towns to walk around and experience life in Northern California. Overall great experience staying here at Bear River. People are nice, everything is accessible and it's in a great location for exploration and just experiencing Humboldt County for everything it has to offer.

We played and stayed 2 days and one night at Bear River casino resort last month and we had a really nice time. This casino is smaller than most that we've been to, but everything is fairly new and it's really clean. I also like that the smoking area is totally separated from the non-smoking area so I didn't have to sit in the cloud of other people's smoke and it actually smelled quite nice. They have a little soda station so you can serve yourself and that is always a huge plus for me. We were able to find the classic games that we both really enjoy and the security at this location was friendly and helpful. We were traveling in a recreational vehicle and the the casino actually allows for people like us to stay overnight in their lot which is really kind. We just had to fill out a little paperwork inside and there was no charge. There is also a great little taco place here and if you're visiting the area, we were able to find multiple things to do during our stay so you definitely won't be bored. The casino also has a gas station that offers the best prices in the area by far! We would definitely come here again and I highly recommend you stopping by if you're in the area.

    Excellent Mexican food restaurant!

Bear River is beautiful. I love the bear and nature decor and the casino is really modern with nice darker lighting. They have a lot of new machines and have some areas with the old machines. They are lacking in video poker machines. The issue with this place, and I'm guessing why they have such bad reviews, is the service... everywhere. The check-in person was nice but didn't tell you any important information. They do not tell you their odd policy of only cleaning rooms after your third night stay. Even if you request the room to be serviced they will send up extra towels and coffee but you are on your own as far as bedding and cleaning. It was pouring when we stayed here, we loved that, but they did not tell us the bowling alley across the street was closed for renovations starting January 1st. We got all ready to spend the day bowling and in the arcade and got soaked walking there to find out it was closed. We went to the River's Edge Restaurant and it was probably the worst service we have ever had. 3 different groups that sat after us were paying their bill before we got our food. It took 3 people 2 hours to eat dinner. The food was pretty good. After dinner, we sat at the bar next to the restaurant an the girl walked behind the bar 3 times and didn't say a word to us and we finally left after sitting there 20 minutes waiting to get a drink. Again, I don't say this lightly...this was the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant I have ever been to. BUT... the Mexican restaurant they have on the other side of the casino was amazing! Amazing customer service and the best Birria tacos with homemade tortillas! Excellent salsa. They have another food place with American food (we did not try). The beautifully decorated rooms and all around design of the casino is why this place is not complete garbage. They do have a lot of mold in the shower, due to bad cleaning. If they could just get better workers, that knew what customer service is, this casino would be very nice. I had to edit my review and take it down a star due to our last night experience. After losing a bunch of money we just wanted to soak in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was SO cold. 5 different people complained and they kept saying they would send someone to fix it. After waiting 30 minutes and no one came, we called to see what was going on and the woman was extremely short and rude and said she sent someone and they couldn't fix it. I told her no one came to even look at it and she said, "Well, it's broken." So the end of our stay was met with a cold jacuzzi and more extremely rude and bad customer service. I would never pay to stay here again. There are much better places in the area. Move on. Blue Lake Casino is SUCH a better run establishment, casino, and hotel that has great customer service. Don't waste your money here.

Not a gambler much walked in with 500 cash ready to win big. After a few minutes of walking around I decided to exit with all my cash in my pocket. Didn't give them a dime of my money this time. Not like last time (and I mean last time)

Stayed here unexpectedly as plans for beach camping fell through. Room was decent and clean, pillows and bedding left a lot to be desired but overall what you expect from a casino hotel. We ate at the grill restaurant for dinner and our waitress was very friendly and provided great service. Food was ok, tri tip was a little overcooked. Overall decent value.

Room 428 smelled like sewer or worse! Called the front desk they of course did not have a room like our $250.00 night room! They sent housekeeping to clean the bathroom which did not remove the stench! The tap water was yellow but it wasn't until I started a bath that I noticed, they said it was because of their well water again gross! I complained about these things and thought someone would call to make it right, they gave me $90.00 off but I don't think it was right. Will never stay there again!

Perched above the stunning Eel River Valley, the restaurant at Bear River Casino offers one of the most gorgeous views I've ever seen. Rolling hills blanketed in vibrant fall colors glow in the twilight, creating a serene, picturesque backdrop for dining. Unlike the main casino floor, the dining area is separated from the smoking section, confined to a designated room away from the restaurant. As a nonsmoker, I found the atmosphere far more pleasant, free from heavy smoke. A faint smoky odor occasionally lingered--slightly noticeable but not overwhelming. Ventilation could improve, yet it's a step above typical casino experiences. The menu shines with locally sourced cuisine, using fresh regional ingredients to craft flavorful dishes that elevate any meal. From savory entrees to creative sides, the food is a highlight. Warm, attentive service adds to the inviting ambiance, with staff ensuring a smooth experience. The blend of exquisite, locally inspired flavors, hospitable care, and jaw-dropping views makes it ideal for holiday dining. For Thanksgiving, it delivers a memorable feast in a scenic, mostly smoke-free haven. This gem is perfect for nonsmokers craving a flavorful escape. Highly recommended for its beauty and quality. Up to date with new machines and still has some of the old favorites. Here is a huge plus if you an RV or just a tired driver you can park in the back overnight.

Also our window and screen were so filthy. There's no way we could even see out. Not to mention the fleas both of my dogs came home with.

We were skeptical about choosing this location based off other reviews. Luckily, using the yelp feature of Elite only reviews I was able to discern that this motel was decent for the price and that the reviews left by non-Elite yelpers were clearly situational. What a pleasant surprise! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay (found through hotel tonight) for just about $120 we selected The Redwood Fortuna Riverwalk Hotel. Cute, comfy, and cozy with a wonderful little indoor pool everything was clean and artfully selected. There were plenty of options in the hotel store including; wine, hard seltzer's, lotions, books children's items ( books, toys and activities) and souvenirs. The best part of the whole experience was the lobby library full of cookbooks and wine books. I was waiting for my friend to pack up and decided to read a bit when I noticed an inscription, " nobody is watching, be a boblioklept" signed by the Riverwalk Fortuna hotel. This was really the icing on the cake to a perfect stay. It's easy to see the owner put quite a lot of personal attention here in consideration into the hotel decorations and amenities. At a price of the neighboring generic chain hotel, we couldn't believe our luck in finding Fortuna. We will most certainly be back and recommend this hotel and town to our friends.

And though the pipes squealed a bit, the shower was clean and the coverlet, sheets, blankets and towels smelled divine especially after being warmed up by the heater, whatever they washed it in was just wonderful. We paid five dollars extra to have a room with two beds (they were full up besides) and though there were only two of us the room could have slept 4 people or more with the roll away. There wasn't a fridge, which encouraged us to eat out. The Redfront convince store in front is also open until 9 (Late by Ferndale standards) so we could grab drinks or food if we needed, they also had utensils. Compared to hotels in the Bay Area, Francis Creek is a little low tech (one must actually call in to the hotel to make a reservation) however you actually reach a live person during business hours and can make a reservation on the spot. Which is more than I can say for some *cough* Ivanhoe *cough* which we discovered the hard way. We'll be staying here again on our next trip. It's a great little budget hotel.
