Aside from the long, long Sunday mid-day wait (over 30 minutes in line), the experience was great! There was a guest experience circulator who was quietly and efficiently making every table feel settled and served. The open concept with simple yet effective decor made for a restful feeling. It's a cute place where the lines can get pretty long during the peak hours, although we went like a brunch-ish on a weekday it was still pretty full. The service was decently quick considering the busyness of the place. I saw the waffle flight and I knew that's exactly what I wanted. It was absolutely lip-smacking, I was tasting cookie butter for the first time and I was surprised how much I actually liked it. It's self serve when it comes to your beverages and coffee/tea. Located conveniently in downtown Ann Arbor, the Stray Hen Cafe is an open and airy space. The decor is both elegant and irreverent at the same time (eg, an Instagram-worthy floral wall and old portraits details like bright pencils for mustaches). We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and I quickly chose a tasty-sounding omelet from the menu and a tea to accompany. We grabbed a seat by the window and dug in. I was not disappointed by my savory breakfast scrambler with a side of fruit. The scrambler was filling and the fruit was ripe and sweet. I nibbled my meal and sipped my tea, happy to people watch and enjoy the slow start to the weekday. Since it's downtown, we had to park several blocks away, but it's worth the hassle to enjoy your meal there. I met a friend for lunch at this cute little cafe a few blocks from my office. It's a bright airy space with high ceilings plus outdoor tables. We had an excellent breakfast at Stray Hen while visiting Ann Arbor. The space itself is bright and airy with plenty of traditional tables and cozy couches and booths. We dined indoors, but they have outside patio seating as well. The ordering process was quick and efficient - you order at the counter, grab your beverages from the barista and the food is then delivered to your table. Both food and drink were excellent and seemed to be made with high quality ingredients. As a Chicago resident I was excited to learn they had another location super close to me in Lincoln Park, only to have that same excitement crushed with news they had recently closed ...but will certainly be back to this one soon as we visit AA often! read more

You order at the counter and pick up your drinks at a different counter. We enjoyed our drinks. Up until we finished our drinks, I was having a great experience. Then essentially one of the servers told us that we had been there for awhile and that we should leave.... I didn't appreciate him telling us that, which is why I'm giving a 3 star review. I know they're a newer restaurant here in Ann Arbor, but it looks like they cut their teeth in Chicago in Lincoln Park AND Elmhurst, so they should know better. I waited over 30 minutes for my order, which was a commonly ordered dish so I just assume that it just went to a wrong table. My dining companion was done eating her order (yes, she ordered after me and got her order first + 30 minutes) and I had to ask for a refund before they just gave me an order. I ordered the North Side (egg white with chicken sausage, avocado, spinach, tomato, gouda cheese - $10). It's worth the $3 upcharge for the potato! Probably the best part of the dish! Given the prime location, it's teeming with undergrads but it's definitely a contender if you're looking for a lively place to post up and work with big city vibes! read more

It look to be very generous portions but we ate it all. It was $50 with a generous tip. The salmon & mahi filets were at least 4 ozs. Our daughter is vegan and elected to for go the bacon on her breakfast. Its a little different set up. You queue up and order at the counter prior to setting yourself. The food is then prepared and brought to your table. The tables are bused and cleaned up so you are not carrying your trash. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
