I'm so glad this bar is able to remain open during COVID. The bartender / waitress Gisselle was warm and welcoming. My sole complaint was that the pork that I was served was very dry. I don't think that was her fault. She gave us great advice where to visit next, and we were so glad she did.

Great happy hour prices and the bartender is friendly and has great customer service skills besides making delicious drinks. Nice ambiance and chill. Recommend to all locals and non locals.

Unassuming front, but delightful inside and lanai. Only two beers on tap, but they're good local brews. We were on our way back to Kona after snorkeling and wanted a refreshing drink and a small bite. Edamame drizzled with wasabi cream is great. Soft pretzel with beer cheese dip is good too, but the pretzel is a bit small. I'd definitely go back. Owner is nice and he has a picture of The Dude on his wall!

Went on an adventure to Captain Cook's monument and wanted to get a very tasty breakfast. Found Hi Dive Bar and the Bloody Mary (coming from LA), was absolutely delicious! Had their special of the day, which was a gumbo, freaking delicious, with tender chicken and andouille sausage... just wow! Come hang out with geckos and Giselle! You will definitely have an amazing experience!

The original place used to be on the "makai" (ocean side) of the parking lot, a place to buy burgers, fries, "green river", few types of plate lunches, ice cream... things like that. Had a few arcade games in the back, and we sat in these formica booths. A perfect after-school place to go, or place to stop by after the beach on the weekends. Later, they relocated to the bigger and current location next to the roadside. At first there used to have a few arcade games, but now I noticed those have disappeared! :( The menu looks the same on those old style boards, and some items are what I used to remember. But Sandy (I'm told the original Sandy still works in the back kitchen sometimes) has tweaked the menu so that you can still buy the same burgers and plate lunches, but some new items have appearedin the New Items section of the menu! Had the teri (meat) burger deluxe and bulgogi fries, and they were thumbs up! Brother had the Loco Moco plate and was thumbs up as well. So I will definitely add this place to my list of Kona places to stop by, to help bring back some nostalgic memories growing up in Kona!

Unfortunately it took awhile for the food to show up and my fish sandwich was cool. The lettuce looked like it was from the bottom of a seven day old bag. The place was very busy and quite loud, so we had to sit at a high top in the bar. No big deal! Our server was incredibly attentive and made some great recommendations. We decided to start with quest and chips, which was brought out very quickly and nice and hot. As we inhaled the quest and chips, we decided on fish tacos for me and a veggie burger for my husband. The fish tacos were wonderfully seasoned and cooked very well. The tortillas were a bit greasy, however, and I was very happy there were two tortillas to each taco since there was also a bit more drip than I expected from the pico. I also had fries, and the fries were excellent! The veggie burger was epic. This was the second veggie burger from this group of restaurants he has had, and I'm pretty sure it's his favorite in the area. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well, with great fries. It was very busy here, which is always a good sign. Just wish the music wasn't as loud because it's hard to have any sort of conversation. I did enjoy how involved the singer was with the other patrons, so it was amusing!

Dinner at the Theatery was such a wonderful experience, it starts when you walk into the restauraunt and are greeted by the gorgeous Hawaiian sky, an indoor outdoor experience. The decor, ambiance, music, seating arrangements, lighting, it feels intentional, intimate and classy. We ordered appetizers - focaccia and grilled flatbread. Focaccia 10/10 - crunchy, yet soft, grilled flavor and the butter. Mmmmmmmm yum. Grilled flatbread 5/10 - not what I expected... Lychee martini 10/10 - classy, tropical, sweet but not too sweet ;-) I ordered the glazed lamb shank - the flavor was beautiful, the meat was juicey, soft and fell off the bone, paired with coconut rice and coconut curry. It was an amazing mixture of different flavors that worked so well together. I think we also got the Kanpachi - it was good but the lamb was our favorite. Finished off the evening with the dessert show with the banana foster - it was way too sweet for me but the show was very entertaining to watch :-). Our favorite dessert was the lilikoi crème Brûlée. (Not pictured). Perfect balance between sweet and savory. Crunchy yet creamy. So delicious!! We loved our experience at the theatery - dining felt like an experience, indulging in the art of eating and enjoying conversation with your dining partner. Will go again.
