I'm so glad this bar is able to remain open during COVID. The bartender / waitress Gisselle was warm and welcoming. My sole complaint was that the pork that I was served was very dry. I don't think that was her fault. She gave us great advice where to visit next, and we were so glad she did.

Great happy hour prices and the bartender is friendly and has great customer service skills besides making delicious drinks. Nice ambiance and chill. Recommend to all locals and non locals.

Unassuming front, but delightful inside and lanai. Only two beers on tap, but they're good local brews. We were on our way back to Kona after snorkeling and wanted a refreshing drink and a small bite. Edamame drizzled with wasabi cream is great. Soft pretzel with beer cheese dip is good too, but the pretzel is a bit small. I'd definitely go back. Owner is nice and he has a picture of The Dude on his wall!

As you know this is DIVE BAR , they have bar foods but some people expect kind a restaurant treatment I would recommend do not expect that . Owner doing great job for very very difficult time this place you can drink reasonably drinks and meet nice local people . Bar foods some you can eat by hand we shouldn't expect restaurant set up . This place is watch sports on TV , drink with friends kind place . Bar owner is great person and very very good bartender sometime he hire wrong people but if you mention owner then he will remove the bartenders so we should give him chance to fix problems if there are any . My several visit never had issue . So hope all you guys see this try to support owner .

The original place used to be on the "makai" (ocean side) of the parking lot, a place to buy burgers, fries, "green river", few types of plate lunches, ice cream... things like that. Had a few arcade games in the back, and we sat in these formica booths. A perfect after-school place to go, or place to stop by after the beach on the weekends. Later, they relocated to the bigger and current location next to the roadside. At first there used to have a few arcade games, but now I noticed those have disappeared! :( The menu looks the same on those old style boards, and some items are what I used to remember. But Sandy (I'm told the original Sandy still works in the back kitchen sometimes) has tweaked the menu so that you can still buy the same burgers and plate lunches, but some new items have appearedin the New Items section of the menu! Had the teri (meat) burger deluxe and bulgogi fries, and they were thumbs up! Brother had the Loco Moco plate and was thumbs up as well. So I will definitely add this place to my list of Kona places to stop by, to help bring back some nostalgic memories growing up in Kona!

Chicken we ordered had no grill marks like before and the chicken was placed on top as one piece. Very little lettuce, and the shell it came in was smaller. Really sad to see. I know everyone is cutting corners and making concessions to make a profit but this was not a meal sized portion. We've enjoyed fish and chips, sliders, tacos, burgers, salads prior to the changes. For old time sake I ordered a Mai Tai. I was surprised a lime wedge replaced the pineapple and cherry skewer I enjoyed. Staff is friendly and host was very nice. Music at 6 pm is fun. We love watching the sunset, musicians playing and sometimes a gracious hula dancer. It can be busy, long waits for dinner. I really hope Huggo's on the Rocks can retain its special charm.

We already knew Huggo's was a beloved waterfront favorite -- famous for its oceanfront views, fresh seafood, and welcoming atmosphere -- but this visit truly exceeded every expectation. We came to celebrate a birthday and also to enjoy a place where our friend Elijah works on the line. Even though he wasn't scheduled that night, he surprised us earlier in the day with a beautiful birthday card and an incredibly generous gift that allowed us to enjoy a special dinner together. That kindness set the tone for the entire evening. When we arrived, the staff already knew we were friends of Elijah, and from the moment we walked through the door, we were treated with such warmth and hospitality that we felt like honored guests. The manager personally delivered our entrées and shared wonderful things about Elijah -- his kindness, maturity, and strong work ethic. Hearing how highly they think of him made the night even more meaningful. We were seated at a perfect table for two, right beside the surf breaking on the rocks below. Between the sound of the ocean, the delicious food, and the genuinely caring staff, the whole experience felt magical. By the end of the evening, we were smiling from ear to ear. The service was exceptional, the atmosphere unforgettable, and the kindness shown to us made this birthday dinner truly special. Huggo's gave us a night we'll always remember, and we're grateful to everyone there for making it extraordinary.

Dinner at the Theatery was such a wonderful experience, it starts when you walk into the restauraunt and are greeted by the gorgeous Hawaiian sky, an indoor outdoor experience. The decor, ambiance, music, seating arrangements, lighting, it feels intentional, intimate and classy. We ordered appetizers - focaccia and grilled flatbread. Focaccia 10/10 - crunchy, yet soft, grilled flavor and the butter. Mmmmmmmm yum. Grilled flatbread 5/10 - not what I expected... Lychee martini 10/10 - classy, tropical, sweet but not too sweet ;-) I ordered the glazed lamb shank - the flavor was beautiful, the meat was juicey, soft and fell off the bone, paired with coconut rice and coconut curry. It was an amazing mixture of different flavors that worked so well together. I think we also got the Kanpachi - it was good but the lamb was our favorite. Finished off the evening with the dessert show with the banana foster - it was way too sweet for me but the show was very entertaining to watch :-). Our favorite dessert was the lilikoi crème Brûlée. (Not pictured). Perfect balance between sweet and savory. Crunchy yet creamy. So delicious!! We loved our experience at the theatery - dining felt like an experience, indulging in the art of eating and enjoying conversation with your dining partner. Will go again.
