As soon as I walked in, I knew this was my type of place. Both grocer and "mini" restaurant, you'll find families, grocery shoppers, and dinner guests alike. Let's be blunt, with the Microsoft Word prices taped on the menu, to the modest tables, and product all around, this is a spot you visit for the flavors not the frills! I picked up a handful of goodies from the store, some items were labeled in English, others in Arabic, and ordered the family mixed grill and a carbonated tamarind drink to go. It took about 35 minutes for my food to be prepared. I ordered the largest platter they offer, and I was not in a rush, but I would have loved a courteous heads up. When I did receive the order it smelled delicious but there was no naan for the hummus side- glad I grabbed some! To be honest, the service was nothing to write home about. In fact, the person who tended to me was not friendly at all, but seeing the Dillons gourmet nut candies, yogurt drink, sparking passion fruit juice, carbonated tamarind drink and frozen roti and naan + the taste of everything convinced me to return. I went here based on a neighbor's recommendation. And I was left wanting a lot. So if you're coming here this is a grocery store first, that serves food. There are two full booths and one half booth. Had a very simple order of a gyro and what they called an Italian sandwich. Had the beef Italian sandwich. Now usually this is quick food. They shave the gyro and off you go. We waited maybe 25 minutes for our food. We walked around and checked out the store. If you're looking for middle eastern spices then this is the spot for you. Door showed up and my meat was so dry and tough I couldn't eat it. Furthermore it didn't taste like anything. For a place with all these spices, use some! They also don't have plates and reusable utensils. Came out in a styrofoam container. So I don't like the non eco-friendly aspect. So, I won't be back for any sort of meal. Maybe some spices. Thankfully, Taza is truly a breath of fresh air. Located on Cypress Rosehill and Huffmeister, Taza is a small grocery store that also houses a tiny restaurant inside. The restaurant might be small but the flavor is big. After ordering the food from Taza from Uber the first time last week, I was on a search to figure out where this place was and I am so glad I found it because I kept going back for more. Initially I had ordered the Taza Mixed Grill, tawook with rice, hummus, tabbouleh, an extra garlic sauce, and a pita bread. This was my first time where I have ever liked yellow rice that comes with Mediterranean food. I was instantly hooked. The second time I went back I got the baba ganoush, the platter again, hummus, and grape leaves. When I say I ate almost all the baba ganoush myself, I am not kidding. It is probably one of the best baba ganoush I have ever had in my life. Normally people don't know the nuanced flavor and can get carried away making this dip which can result in a goopy substance but this one had a perfect viscosity coupled with a smoky flavor and textural superiority. I always get the family whole chicken meal which comes with a whole grilled chicken butterflied, a huge amount of rice, and some grilled onion and jalapeño along with salsa, garlic sauce and naan. We ordered the family mixed grill set for $40 to-go after getting a craving for Mediterranean food. It comes with a variety of meat, 2 sides and a large helping for biryani rice (which can be ordered spicy or regular). Pita bread is available for an extra $0.50 each - great to go with their hummus side. We were able to phone in our order in advance, which is great since the food takes 25 minutes to prepare. The only downside is that there is not much seating to sit and eat since the other half of the store is groceries. I would say a mini Phonecia , with actual fresh pita! Located inside of a small market that's stocked full of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean items. The Mixed Grill and Jumbo Mixed Grill are our usual go-to's as well as the occasional beef shawarma or dolmas on the side. If you are curious about giving authentic Lebanese food a try this is your place! Taza genuinely has the coolest little market and take out for mediterranean cuisine around. We ordered the tasty mixed grill platter (feeds 4) that comes with a ton of yummy delights like shish beef, shish chicken, shish tawook (also chicken), rice (regilar or spicy), and two sides. I cannot stress enough how scrumptious and out-of-this-world delicious all the food was. The meats were super tender. The spicy rice was not too spicy. The hummus was absolutely creamy and fabulous! We were caught off guard with their version of Tzaziki Sauce, but, other than that, everything was mouth-watering. Just an fyi, we thought the tzaziki was going to be more yogurt-based like Greek-style, but it was chunkier with diced cucumber. I liked it but it's a personal preference kind of thing. This place is a hidden gem for sure! It looks to be family-run but I can't say for sure. I cannot wait to go back just for the hummus!!! SO MUCH GOODNESS. One of our favorite spots for classic Mediterranean food. This place is technically a very well-stocked speciality grocery store with a little restaurant on the side . The grocery has a ton of specialty items- a giant selection of tahinis, olives, meats, cheeses, spices- you name it. Definitely worth a look around. But the real star is their food! It's primarily carry-out but there's a few little tables tucked off to the side to dine in. The prices are very cheap for the portions and quality of food you get. My date had the mixed grill - high quality beef and chicken, perfectly seasoned and chargrilled with some chargrilled veggies- tomatoes, onions, and a fat jalapeño all served over that outstanding lavash bread to soak up all that goodness. I had the gyros and fries. The warm lavash bread was especially outstanding, the lamb meat was very good quality and delicious. The gyro was wrapped with their amazing garlic sauce, julienned cukes, tomatoes, and onion. Fries were nicely seasoned and tasted great with that garlic sauce- thin cut. We also tried the spicy hummus that was unlike any other hummus I've ever had- extremely creamy- delicious, almost tasted whipped. The spice level was very mild but we just swirled some of their house hot sauce into it and it was perfect! Service is helpful, warm, humble, and kind. This place is a gem. read more
