Went here with family on a Monday night. They had a private party for a painting night which was cool and looked like it would be a fun date night. The waitress said they used to do it at the last location and to look for the next event which is open to the public on facebook. We ordered corn fritters and "25" wings which are supposed to be aged for 25 hours and both were bland. No flavor. The wings were garlic smoked and came out oily. Then we had fish tacos which were basically fish bites on fried corn tortilla shells with sliced avocado. No slaw, no tomato, no lettuce. The lime/cilantro sauce was ok, and the salsa which i asked for on the side was cantina style tomato which was basically puree tomato. The food needed something, like i don't know....salt or seasoning? We asked for some of the corn salsa and bbq sauce and were charged a few dollars for the request. The atmosphere was ok, and "the band" was setting up next to us which was awkward. The waitress was ok and attentive, but the food could've been better for the price point. The Hidden Still is more of a pub with pub food than a restaurant. The food, especially the fish tacos left a lot to be desired. They have 20 plus flavors of wings but the wings alone could use some seasoning. Maybe i'll give it another try and get a cheeseburger. read more

I have (almost) always been pleased with the service at the Hidden Still. They have undergone serious changes since I first started coming here last year at their old location. The staff has gone from 4-5 regulars to more than a dozen servers which is clearly due to the increased demand. The food is fabulous and the staff get to know you if you frequent the restaurant. I highly recommend the sriracha mayo and pretty much any menu item, as they are all delicious. I wish they would bring back the Carolina burrito and bahn mi! The Hidden Still continues to deliver the trifecta... tasty food, fair prices, and a friendly staff. This place is a local watering hole with no frills but still presents itself in a nice atmosphere. I started off my meal with a beer and some wings, which is one of the menu items they are known for, and had a buffalo chicken wrap with tater tots (another thing they are known for). The portion was hefty and tasted good. It came out hot by a friendly server while I sat at the bar. The portion of the buffalo chicken wrap was so big that I took it home and ate it for breakfast. ;-) In addition, I appreciate the fact that whoever cooked and assembled my buffalo chicken wrap used big chunks of chicken...not those little cubes that you get in other places. The wrap was a monster and tasted very good. The crowd is friendly and the band they had there was pretty good. Overall, a very good experience every time I go. As a consumer, who generally thinks that restaurants are WAY overpriced, I appreciate the Still's price points. I don't feel like I get mugged when I go there but rather that there prices are fair. It helps that there wait staff and bartenders are really nice and laid back. read more

Just left Hidden Still. Have been there in a few years. After reading the write up in yesterday's Journal Inquire we realized we had forgotten about it and went back today(on vac). Dineen the bartender was very friendly and informative. It was in a new location. I was set on getting short ribs. The menu stays the same for lunch and dinner. I chose the steak bomb substituting the rib eye for the short ribs. My wife got the short rib panini with a side of super tangy mac and cheese. She loved it.. Both were unbeliveable. I got a side of tater tots that were heavenly. Super crispy and fluffy inside. We sat at the bar. A ton on tap but I'm a weeney beer drinker and like a bud or Corona lite. Most brewery stick to locals only so I end up not going. My spouse a local Male similar to blue moon loved it. Anyway gotta go again soon. Lots of entertainment according to Dineen. Stopped here for a late, quick dinner on a Wednesday night and the place was pretty busy. The service was strange, but not so bad. The waitress was awkward and the bus girl, who came by OFTEN made it a point to let us know that she couldn't help us with anything and we'd need to wait for our server. The funny thing is, Busgirl and Servergirl looked eerily similar even before the Moonshine came to our table. The wings were excellent but don't come with any fresh veggies. The chicken Caesar salad was OK, but had its share of brown leaves. I'm not sure why this place provides cloth napkins...especially with the amount of wings they sell, they're just really out of place. The guy sitting next to us has Tourette's and seriously dropped the F bomb every 5 seconds in the dining room, which would've been fine at the bar, but come on!! Class up, Ellington! Hubby tried a Moonshine flight, which made for an interesting evening. Overall, it's a fun little place but next time we will definitely sit at the bar and bring some wet naps with us. read more

Appeared very small from the outside, and got in to see that assumption was correct. Didn't have what I was originally going to order (black bean burger) so I got just a normal burger with a side of fries. Tasted decent enough. The real downer was the spinach artichoke dip, which was basically just a cream cheese dip with bits and pieces of spinach thrown in there - AND there was also a random piece of plastic in there. Not sure if it came from a bag or if the dip was frozen and then reheated and the plastic cover somehow slipped in. Who knows, but it made it even less appetizing than it already was to begin with. read more

Excellent food and atmosphere . Twice baked potato skins were great and the pulled pork sandwich awesome.

Food is okay. Atmosphere is energetic and they have a decent bar. Gets busy quickly on weekends.

Service is always really good. Menu is a bit limited but nonetheless I've never had a problem with their food.

My experience here started off mediocre at best. I asked for a specific yet standard drink, they were out of it. I asked for something else, also common...out of it. Finally i gave up and just ordered a beer. This is not my complaint. I can get past this. I stayed an average of 2.5-3 hours on this visit. I like Klonk from 102.9, she hosts Karaoke. That I can say definitively was the ONE redeeming quality about this place. I didn't order food here, I've had their food prior to this visit, was underwhelmed. As the night wore on, our group was approached by a woman who had clearly had too much to drink. This is not unusual, and I assumed she had a ride. Later in the evening she joined us again, this time on her way out to go home...by herself. At this time I went back in and asked the to speak to someone who was still working. I was rudely asked by someone who probably works there, but was out of uniform "What for?" I dismissed this and spoke with the man who was checking I.D.'s. I politely told him that I didn't think it was a good look for them to let her leave on her own. He then spoke with rude out of uniform girl and they both seemed to know exactly who I was referring to. Rude girl even said "(name of drunk lady) under breath accompanied by f#@k" as if this were a common occurrence. Then rude girl had to make sure that I knew why she said "what for" earlier, which I again dismissed casually and continued to speak with door guy. Rude girl then mentioned something about them having an account with Uber. I assumed they were going to handle the situation accordingly so i rejoined my group on the patio. Now the bar is closed. The staff comes out to ask us all to leave and I wait for them to address the woman...and I wait...and I wait. Nothing. Finally as she was leaving I asked her if she had a ride. I told her that it was not my intent to be rude, I just wanted to make sure she was safe. At this point I turned my attention back to the staff who was just watching this unfold, and doing NOTHING about it. When I asked them if they were just going to let her leave I got the sense from them that they just didn't care. She left on her own and they did absolutely nothing to try to stop her. Unbelievable!!! As a former bartender I know how important it is to protect your establishment and their liquor license. Over serving can not only put people in harms way, but can destroy everything an owner has worked so hard to build. I can't imagine this is how the owner would have their staff act in situations like this. This staff needs serious re-training all around. I will not return!!! read more

The moonshine margaritas are amazing!!!! And the appetizer's were delicious. We got the bourbon fries, the pretzel bites, and the nachos. We've been back twice and it was as good as the first time! I would definitely recommend it to anyone! read more

For a town without many dining options I guess this is ok. The food is average bar food but they have a good beer selection. The reason for the 3 stars is because we sat at the bar one night and each had drinks and a couple apps and somehow it came to over $70. This was months ago and we still feel bad for ourselves for having spent that much on what we got. There was no value. read more

Had lunch on Sat ...while it was good, it is no longer unique. The new(?), menu dropped what has been worth driving for, (and recommending). Without unique items like the shrimp po'boy, or the bypass burger - it's just another lunch place, (albeit with better chicken wings). read more

I did not see a beer that I liked so I went in to the bar to see what else they had.. bartender was not very helpful. somewhat sarcastic that I did not like IPA which was mostly all that was there was left with other beers not available... a couple next to me also noticed how bad the bartender was acting.. went back to my table, had to decide if we wanted to stay after my bad experience with the bartender. The bartenders are very nice and excited to be there, waitresses are alright. The menu items and apps offer a lot of options for lunch or dinner. The beer and liquor is local and offers a little variety. I like it for the restaurant feel, but was a little disappointed when it came to trying to turn it into a bar. Keep this one for the food and go somewhere else if you're looking for a watering hole. read more

I've never had a bad meal here and the pulled pork sandwich is amazing! You can tell it's fresh and I always try the different flavors to put on my fires/tater tots, all delicious. Great bar atmosphere, especially for relaxing date night. Not the biggest beer selection but I like that they have beers I've never heard of to try . I'll be coming back again real soon! read more

Stopped in for a bite to eat, down from Massachusetts for wicked big meet. Service is great was greeted right away and had drink samples and food all within about 15 minutes of sitting down. Good amount of draft beer and plenty of moonshine to try including a few house made flavors. Food is excellent and portions are generous. Would definitely come back. read more

Cool bar but terrible food and service. Ordered the nachos and at first I thought the chips were stale, nope it was just how the nachos were. The worst nachos I've ever eaten and not once did the bartenders ask how it was... So, the service.... When we first walked in we thought it was going to be a great experience. Well we walked out saying we would never go back to this joint again. For some reason the bartenders decided to not 'tend' to us and took forever for drinks. Stopped here before and in general food was good....not the other night though. Fish burrito had zero flavor, avocados were rock hard. Cajun burger was minus the Cajun. If i could give this place 0 stars i would. My fiancé and i came in for the first time because we were recommended by Kloter Farms for a good dinner spot. Unfortunately they couldn't be more wrong. It was a busy Friday night so i understand service could be slow but our waiter was awful!! He was rude, non attentive, and when i asked to see a drink menu he rolled his eyes and never came back with one! He also mumbled under his breath a lot like we were an inconvenience to him. The service wasn't the only issue. We ordered the pretzels which weren't too bad, but then our entrees came and everything was cold and my burger was well done when I asked for medium rare. I guess they don't know how to cook a burger correctly here. I also ordered the sweet potatoe fries and boy were those non edible. They came out very over cooked and tasted like I was eating rubber!! My fiancé also found a hair in her quesadilla, which it isn't tasty just dry and bland, when asking for the manager our waiter said he was the manager and we asked for another quesadilla for to go, he ended up charging us for a 2nd quesadilla and when we asked for it to be removed because she didn't eat her first one he again rolled his eyes but ended up removing it for us from our bill. Awful food, awful service. Stay away from this place and just go to Casey's. We won't be returning. read more

My sister and I ventured in for a simple lunch on a lovely fall Saturday. Our server Mckenzie pleasantly greeted us and promptly brought us our requested water. She also put on a fresh pot of coffee for us. After perusing the deliciously varied menu we both decided on home made macaroni and cheese with crabmeat. For two dollars more I chose the side of sautéed spinach, vegetable of the day, and my sister chose a side salad, also two dollars additional. The lunch came quickly. Our only suggestion is the entree being hotter. The creaminess of the cheesy macaroni combined with so much crabmeat was a decadent treat! The touches of red pepper added a lovely sweetness. My spinach was savory and succulent with added yumminess of the sautéed onions. My sister loved her house made blue cheese dressing with her salad. I know I will be back. I need to capture a picture of the awesome macaroni and cheese! read more

I've driven by here a few times and my husband and I decided to finally stop. We sat ourselves at the bar and the atmosphere was good. The bartender who looked new, kind of hesitated greeting us and took a minute before approaching. We ordered a great beer from Von Trapp brewing and order our food. He recommended the boneless buffa-que wings which we ordered. They were delicious!!! My husband ordered the shaved steak sliders and I ordered the Banh mi which was a little out of my comfort zone. We were totally impressed! All the food was great, came out quickly and was totally fresh. After all this is said, I think they should focus on training their waitstaff on efficiency. It was seat yourself which can cause delays right away. With a more focused staff, this place could be on my top 10 local places to eat! Oh...and if they had moonshine on tap, that would make it even better as the name suggests that's what they are known for. read more

The Hidden Still has decent food, service, and atmosphere. But I had an experience tonight that soured my opinion of this establishment and how they operate. I ordered a Cobb Salad that included chicken and I ordered additional shrimp for $6. The salad was excellent and very large. I ordered herb vinaigrette dressing on the side and the agreement with the bartender when I ordered was that if I didn't like it I could order something different. When the salad arrived, the dressing quantity was far less than what I expected. It was one of those tiny cups that you might find at Moe's for your salsa, but I would venture to guess that it was the smallest cup of that type, perhaps 1 Oz. And it was not even close to full. Certainly not enough for a giant salad. I tasted the dressing and it was mostly oil. So I asked the bartender to bring me a second cup of dressing and some red wine vinegar, which he accommodated. When the check came, they charged me 50 cents extra for the dressing. Obviously, 50 cents will not make me or break me. It is the principle and nickel and diming without any real willingness to make me happy after complaining. read more
