We ordered take out from this place and it was pretty good. After a day on the beach, we just wanted lots of shareable. We got the Frito pie, a loaded nacho, gumbo, shrimp baskets, and a pizza. The nachos weren't very good and it was only 3 minutes from our place, so that was a bummer. But everyone loved the gumbo and frito pie. The pizza and nachos are what bring the review down from a 5 to a 4. The place was packed when I arrived so I knew it would have been quite a wait to sit had we gone in. There was a pool table and some arcade games which a lot of youth were enjoying. It looked like a fun place to enjoy yummy southern food. And there was seating outside, but again, all full. They do a pretty good job making typical bar food better. The pizza crust is tasty and not a bland pasty doughy crust. The chicken Alfredo is cheesy and not dry. It was served warm from the oven with a garlic knot. The fries were really tasty and enjoyable with the cheesy sauce and topping. There is a full service bar. This is a pretty typical bar food menu. But it's quite well done, and there's lots of TV's. I was very pleased with the loaded nachos. A classic dish, but extremely well done. Very expensive, $18 for 12 wings, $10 mac & cheese, and $15 for burger. The menu online is different than in the restaurant. My burger I asked for well done. Came out pink, even had to ask for a different bun as it was soaked in grease;( The drinks were weak, the sign above the bartender said 1.25 oz. of alcohol only in each drink, that should of told me to skip it. Never again, so much potential, but a waste of money. Frozen pizza would be better and much cheaper, 12 wings for $2 per wing were eatable but pricey, a Cesar salad for $12 no protein (chicken) up charge, $10 kids fried plates/ chicken and fries. Stopped in on a Friday night at 7.45pm. Online it said open until 10pm called multiple times to try to confirm but no one answered (should have known). Hostess said they didn't have any available tables and then said we close at 8pm??? So we could order from bar- to go - great! Head to bar where we weren't acknowledged for 10 minutes (where the manager was working as well) to then be told the kitchen closed at 7.30pm and we couldn't get any food??? We are current guests at the resort and visited The Village Hideaway for dinner. It was such a disappointing experience! Everything from the cocktails to the entrees was almost inedible. You would expect to be served fresh fish when dining at a restaurant on the coast, but unfortunately, the fish smelled and tasty too "fishy" to even eat. We waiting 30 minutes for our appetizer and over an hour for our meal. Our waitress was kind and apologetic, and comped some of our bill which we appreciated. Overall, it was a bad experience which is sad because the ambience on the Village Lawn is really fun, but sadly there's nowhere to get decent food. read more

Service is horrendous. We were there for well over an hour before receiving our food and our waiter checked on us not even twice. The food was also disappointing. The fish was gross and the Alfredo tastes nothing like Alfredo. We were sitting right by the pool table and almost got hit by a pool ball as well. They also brought us the wrong order after waiting for such a long time. There is no separation between the games and the dinning area which makes everything loud. Not good at all. For a restaurant on a resort property, I really expected more. My family and I go to the beach here almost every year and we have never tried the restaurant in the front. Now I know why. Their food is overpriced, over salted, and just not good. We got the supreme pizza, which was lacking taste and the dough wasn't even cooked. The Caesar salad was small and it was almost $10 extra to add 4 strips of grilled chicken. The shrimp basket was so salty I couldn't finish it. I would not recommend this place. The resort is lovely and we will always come back but from now on we will continue to pass this place up on the ride to dinner. read more

My wife and I have enjoyed several meals here in the last month. The burgers were always delicious, cooked to perfection. The pizza was also very good. The wait staff was attentive to our needs. The reason for only 4 stars was do to the lack of any sound absorbing acoustics. With the restaurant three quarters filled and live music - you couldn't hear yourself think. All in all we would recommend the Hideaway but bring ear plugs when there is live music and you would like to visit with your guests. read more

Our server was polite, but overworked, and inattentive. Manager did nothing when they obviously lost our ticket order, and they were all aware. We were made to feel like it was our fault for asking why it was taking so long. Customer service is not their strong point. A simple explanation would have meant a lot. Mistakes happen , and we understand that. Ignoring their mistake and making us feel bad for asking is not ok. Food service was not their usual fare. Fish undercooked and not eaten. We have been to The Beach Club 8 years in a row. We usually eat at the Village Hideaway once or twice during the week. We have always had a good time. We show up on Aug. 4th this year, and they say it will be a 35 min wait. I saw more than one table available, but they state they aren't available. I ask how many people are in front of us, they state no one. I walk the floor and see a table in the corner. They say it is reserved for a large party. I ask what time the party is arriving. It isnt actually reserved. They didnt want to seat us because it was a table that could seat more than 4. They wanted us to wait 35 mins for the possibility of someone else coming in with a large party. Horrible customer service. read more

After having lunch, my daughter and I went to the outside seating area. The chair she was sitting in collapsed and she hit the concrete which injured her arm and back. I would have been ok with this if not for the outright indifference of the staff and manager. I've never experienced such a lack of concern from anyone running a business. UPDATE: We went back today & had a MUCH better experience, so I'm giving another star. They weren't near as busy this time, which may have helped. Our server, April, was excellent. Very friendly, easygoing, & quick. She was not there the day before. Our food came quickly. Cobb salads & a chicken caesar wrap. Everything was delicious. Still dumbfounded by our experience yesterday, & there is no excuse for it (yes they were busy but they weren't hustling!). But maybe lunch is a better time! Previous review: Rude, unfriendly, lazy staff who do not seem to be managed very well, if at all. One hostess was hustling getting tables ready, but we saw about 7 or more servers walking around aimlessly. It appeared that they were doing absolutely NOTHING. Walked by our table many times, went nowhere, passed back by, doing nothing! Have never seen anything like it! After 15 minutes had passed & still no one had approached our table, we approached the busy hostess, & asked if she could have someone come help us. She told a server & they had a conversation while the server stared at us for far too long. Then that server (manager?!) went to another server & asked her to come take our order (I assume). Again, a conversation that should have been quick took awhile, while they stared at us! What is going on?! The second server very reluctantly shuffled over to us. She asked how we were doing & we told her not great as we still hadn't had anyone take our drink order. She basically shrugged & didn't smile or say anything other than "okay...". So we left. We are not hard to please but the service was horrible from the start. Now I'm seeing from other reviews this happens frequently. Such a shame for such a nice spot with what looks to be delicious food! We may come back while here & give it another try. I will update this review if we do. Service was very slow overall and the food took a very very long time to come out. The order wasn't all the way correct when it finally did get to the table but since we knew it would take so long to get corrected we didn't even bother. The food was very under seasoned and cooked mediocre at best. The margarita was poorly made and didn't even taste like a margarita. They serve one brand of cheap wine that was pretty bad as well. Very disappointing especially when you are staying at the resort and have limited options. Service is easy to correct but they need to go back to the drawing board for their actual recipes. The prices are a little higher than similar restaurants in the area, but our customer service in the restaurant was very good. We ate inside while staying at beach club resorts. We loved the fried pickles and spinach artichoke dip. Really good Mac and cheese. I liked the Alabama slama burger it had a good topping of sliced bacon and onion. The mahi fish and chips is great and the the fish sandwich is also great. This is tough with only a 5 star option to rate from... Atmosphere: great area with a ton of stuff for kids and adults to play with - arcades, xbox, pool, shuffle board, golf simulator, outside sand. Kind of an upscale bar/pub feel. Service: this was reason for dropping ratings, I would give them a 1 star on this (and reading some other reviews looks like this common, sometimes great and sometimes horrible). First the hostess was just downright out of it, clearly didn't want to be there, and I don't want to judge, she may have had a bad day. The restaurant was almost empty at time of our arrival and we told her the number in our party (10) and she said ok would be 5-10 min to get table ready - this was a foreshadowing of things to come. Our waitress was very friendly but man everything just took forever!! She ordered our drinks and we said we were ready to order food if that was ok, she said she was t ready for that and we didn't see her for what seemed like 20 min plus. We finally ordered and food took a long time, saw 2 other tables get theirs before ours with them ordering well after. Have to assume ours just didn't get put in (we ordered simple stuff - pizza which is also what the other table had). Afterward, it took FOREVER to get our ticket and when we did they charged extra for us removing items from pizza. They said sorry but didn't offer to fix it. Food: after what seemed like a disastrous beginning I had low expectations for the food but BOOM it was amazing. The pizza was great, the burger was great, and even our kids meals were hearty, very good, and great price. Just a lot of mixed feelings with this place.
