The mural on the wall was painted by 2 different artists, that really wound me up. It's like the person who started it was charging too much so they hired some other local ass clown to finish it up. Bad decision, Hideout. Other than the half ass mural attempt, the pizza I had was haphazardly carrying on a legacy of mediocrity of bar pizzas, though the ingredients were fresh. When I was there there were some folks having a birthday party for their toddler which seemed odd because the baby really didn't look old enough to drink, but it might have been a midget. A recent addition of the Dyson Xcelerator hand drier seemed to be the talk amongst regulars.. Anywho, the waitstaff was nice, the beer was cold (enough) and reasonably priced. I'm sure it's a fine and proper place but....the only 'Hideout' I will ever recognize was in Harper Woods, on the I-94 service drive (give or take a few feet), south of 8 Mile road. Often home to 'Bob Seger and his Band', as well as, 'The Rainy Days' and 'Mothers Little Helpers'. All outstanding local talent back then, with Seger shedding the 'local' descriptive not long after. I tried The Hideout this past weekend and was really disappointed. There was a very loud birthday party at 5:30 on a Saturday and they were playing pool and blocking the entrance. Not exactly a brilliant idea to have a pool table right in the middle of the entrance to your restaurant. We sat down at our table and there was a piece of chewed gum right in the middle of it, and we didn't have any napkins or anything to remove it. After about 7 minutes, our server came by in a huff and rolled her eyes as she asked for our drink orders. She looked right at the gum and didn't remove it or even provide us with napkins to remove it ourselves. We didn't see our waitress again for about 15 minutes, so we just left. With all the other great restaurants in the area, I don't think we'll be giving The Hideout a second chance. read more

Nice sports bar with big televisions all around. The wait staff is pretty nice and they always have specials. The food is pretty decent and the menu is huge. Stay away from this absolute sh-t show. Went there for the Mayweather fight and these guys couldn't find their a$$ with both hands. Service sucked. Owner could give a sh-t. My order was completely screwed up. She still wanted me to pay for crap I didn't order. I was stuck since I paid for the fight, but then they let people stand right in front of tables that had been waiting for hours for the fight. I had to get up and clear a path to see. Complete BS. I used to come there after hockey and it was still poorly run. How do you think you could have handled a crowd. Went in Halloween night for dinner and drinks, maybe 15 people in the bar, we sat near the front chatting after 15 or 20 minutes no one acknowledged us being here and watching 5 or 6 girls behind the bar doing nothing and one waitress sitting with regulars. We gave up and walked out felt completely invisible . Not gonna return or recommend thought bored wait staff would like to make some money, guess not !!! I have changed my opinion, I think I'm starting to like Hide Out more than Renshaw's. My husband and I had dinner and drinks here and we really enjoyed it. I've had their side salads in the past and liked the romaine lettuce they use in them--better than the crappy iceberg at Renshaw's. This time, I found a veggie platter on the menu. It was chock full of fresh tomatoes, carrots, cukes, celery, and some black olives served with ranch dressing. My husband loved his calzone and my chicken gyro had just the right amount of tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. The best part is that their craft beer selection has expanded! Along with their awesome specials on Sunday nights, I went there for the first time last night to meet up with a buddy and this seriously has got to be one of the friendliest bars ever. It wasn't as busy as it should have been with all the Sunday night specials, which include appetizers and drink specials, but at least two people (who seem to have been regulars) came up to my friend and I just to introduce themselves and told us to come back again. And one dude bought my friend a beer. Maybe it was just that night, but first impressions make a difference. After my friend and I had noticed how chill and friendly the place was we're hoping to make this thing a weekly thing for us. The music was low enough to have actual conversations and hear the other person. The ambience was dim lighting and very chill. Garbage service on a semi busy night, carryout sat in the window for 20 minutes before random food runner asks me what I'm waiting for because he can tell. Bartender then tried to bring it over with no explanation... was never even offered a second beer. Wife said we're not accepting cold food and we'll pay for the beers. So I was a little wary of such a dive, isolated from the rest of the area's already sparse nightlife. However, I gotta admit: this bar is kind of like home now. Great lunch and drink specials with surprisingly decent food and strong drinks. Great martini selection. The staff are friendly and awesome, remembering you and even your preferred drinks. I'm going to agree with some others...the food was just okay even though every order for my pickup was wrong!! Extremely disappointing since I work down the street. I definitely let my coworkers know never again. It was my first and last time. Sign is confusing and the remodeling is not aestheticlly pleasing. Food was ok and the people were as bland an unremarkable as the staff. We had a great lunch today. My fish and chips was excellent....the cod was sweet and fresh and the fries were yummy. The service was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Alaina was a super fun waitress. The ice tea was the weak point, not very tasty but my husband's salad was excellent. We will be back soon. The prices are fair; the music was not too loud; the mix of people was interesting, and the decor is a comfortable style. This is a good place to eat and/or to have a drink. The Hideout is quite possibly my favorite bar because it has a giant mural of Homer Simpson on one of the walls. It really has nothing to do with the restaurant itself but why not, it works. The Hideout also has lots of beer signs on the wall and a giant Captain Morgan statue. This should be a better indicator of the type of bar it is. Standard bar fare and domestic beers with the modern day bonus of craft brews. They usually have specials like cheap burgers and beers or buy one get one free hangovers. Loses a point because they took out the photo hunt machine. Gains a point for being next to a Del Taco. Loses another point because located next to abandoned Hollywood video. read more

Had a great time hanging out here. Came to town to visit my bro we decided to hit this bar up for some late night beer and pool. The atmosphere is very welcoming. The bar itself is well stocked, clean, and relaxing. Not cramped like some places. Good selection of beers on tap and the bartender Lynn was legit. used to come here quite a bit for happy hour, and to grab some grub after work. huge domestics for like $2 for happy hour... daddy like. the burgers are pretty darn good, and for bar food... is a good spot to go. there are quite a few tv's with, basically, what is two separate bars area's in this place. there is the front, which is horrible set up, a risen area with tables, and a walkway next to a bar that runs the entire front area, the walk thru is about 1 1/2 people wide. my favorite are the people who seem completely oblivious to the things that surround them... and use their massive back to monopolize the entire space. it's like when you're pulling into a parking spot and you see someone in the car next to the spot you're entering, sitting at the wheel... and you're just waiting for that person to open their door. and sure enough "whoosh!" comes the door... just oblivious to the surroundings... or is it a lack of courtesy? either way... the walk way's small!!! don't stand there you big ogre! the back area, which was added on a couple of years ago, is pretty cool and a good place watch sports. we've watched some ncaa tourney games there, and a couple of world cup games 2 years ago, and there are a couple of big tv's, and then smaller ones in the corners, but still pretty big. i enjoy watching games back there. the service is kind of, meh. i've never been enamored by it... the waitresses sometimes seem like work is the last place in the world they wanna be. at least fake it, ya know? make me think that you want to bring me beer. i know that i'm here to get drunk and you're just here to bring me said beer... but i enjoy it such much more when it's served with love :) ya, michael's kinda hit the nail on the head with this place... it seems to be the place to hang out in clawson and meet people of the opposite sex. my buddy went to clawson high school, and he won't go here cause every time he does, he runs into a gajillion (that's slightly more than a bazillion) people he knows. read more
