Fish and grits, hash brown casserole, and pancake
    Sarah R.

Affordable southern cookin' with a friendly & casual local vibe. Seriously cheap prices for the Keys. You even get a little water view and can sit on the wrap-around porch or inside. Loved that I could order a single pancake... and it was massive and delicious! Their homemade hash brown casserole is scrumptious. Fish and grits was just okay, but I sure managed to eat it all. Waiters continuously checked on me and made sure my water was full. Glad I've got a solid breakfast option when I get an early start on my drive into the Keys!

Great little hole in the wall restaurant with partial water views. Very relaxed feel with good food at reasonable prices. Certainly cheaper than most places you'll find in the FL Keys. Inside is diner style with soft music. It's certainly nothing fancy inside. Our waiter was very friendly. He recommended the Philly cheesesteak and onion rings, and neither disappointed. The wife also enjoyed her burger and fries. It's located off the beaten path, driving through a neighborhood to get there, but well worth a visit.

Fast and friendly service and really good food. Kids loved their pancakes and French toast. Hash brown casserole was also delicious

Country breakfast with bacon and hash brown casserole

The service was excellent and the country breakfast was delicious. The cornbread was sweet and the savory bacon and eggs were a great combination. The hash brown casserole was a bit peppery for my taste, but it was still good. There is also a beautiful view of the water if you sit in the right spot.

Cool little Mom n Pop diner, nestled away at the back of a small development in Key Largo area. It ain't much to look at inside, but the service team is on point - friendly and attentive, and the cook knows his stuff because we all enjoyed the breakfast we ordered! The hash brown casserole as a side has a $3 up charge but $3 doesn't go far these days, so go for it. It's a big hunk of potatoey cheesy goodness! Definitely make a stop here for breakfast while in town, you won't be sorry.

Breakfast in the Keys. Arrived early Sunday morning. Clean place with a great view. Had the hash brown casserole, it was different but nothing to write home about. The hubs had the cinnamon pancakes which he said were "tasty" I had the eggs Benedict over crab cakes, they were good. All was good, nothing exceptional. Good service. A solid 3.5 but unfortunately there is no way to leave that rating

Great little local spot! The Hideout Café has a laid-back vibe, friendly service, and tasty breakfast favorites. Portions are generous, and it feels like a true Key Largo hidden gem

Came for breakfast when I was visiting. One of the best breakfast joints I've had in awhile. Corned beef hash is great!

Elite modern review:…read more Very modern and trendy place to be. Perfect for young adults and college crowds looking to have a great time. The music was on point, creating an energetic vibe all night. The bar setup was amazing, fast service and great drinks. Overall, a fun atmosphere with good energy, stylish crowd, and a place I would definitely come back to.

It is a little tricky to find it, once you find the parking lot, it is super confusing as to where you enter. There are two floors and multiple doors. Finally someone directed us up the stairs and to the back of the building. We were greeted and given menus fairly quickly, but it took an extraordinarily long time to get our food that day. The hollandaise sauce was atypical as it tasted like there was cheese in it. The smoked salmon on a bagel tasted okay, but fell apart when it was picked up. The breakfast burrito lacked a lot of flavor. The blueberry pancake, although slightly overcooked, was actually very good. The bacon and fried potatoes were not crisp, as I prefer them. So if you like crispy bacon and fried potatoes, ask for that when placing your order. The windows and floors are dirty and the women's bathroom had a round hole with a dirty sock stuck in it on the floor. I actually tripped over it. And the bathroom could have been much cleaner. With a few improvements, Sharkeys could be more appealing to tourists going through and visiting the Keys.

At the recommendation of friends, our Day 1 Supper was at Mrs. Mac's Kitchen II (also called Mrs…read more Mac's Kitchen (Big) on Google Maps). Having arrived at 4:30pm, we were immediately shown to a table and informed about the happy hour specials. Not normally ones to drink much on vacation, my wife and I instead opted to live in the moment and enjoy the island life, especially since it was 30 degrees when we left Ohio that morning. As such, we each ordered a rum punch (pictured), while my best friend ordered a Bulliet old fashioned and his wife a house margarita. With drink orders out of the way, Deja, our absolutely delightful waitress, took our food orders: sauteed seafood combo (for my wife), backyard BBQ burger with coleslaw (for me), burger and fries (for my BFF and his wife, who -unlike us- were smart enough to save room for dessert). While waiting for our meals, we took in the ambiance of the restaurant, and wow was there a lot to take in! First off, we loved how the old Pizza Hut building had been repurposed and transformed into the embodiment of the tropical island lifestyle. From the display tables showcasing seashells and historic Florida Keys photos, to the license plate light fixtures, to the ceiling-mounted blue sky and clouds panels, to the fish hanging in front of each distinctively Pizza Hut trapezoidal window, we loved it all! When our food arrived, it looked fantastic and tasted even better. My wife described her seafood combo as being excellent, with the Caribbean lobster "almost as good as the ones we get in Maine." Likewise, her fish was fresh and delicious, while the shrimp were succulent. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was topped with expertly caramelized onions and bacon with just the right amount of crispness to it. My coleslaw side was also excellent, with the perfect balance of creaminess and zing. Our friends also said their burger and shoestring fries were fantastic. To round out our meal, each of the four of us ordered pieces of Key Lime Pie, which was some of the best I have ever had in my life (and I have eaten a lot of Key Lime Pies!)! Throughout our meal, Deja checked on us often without being overbearing, and kept the drinks flowing. All told, for 5 drinks, 3 entrées with sides, and 4 slices of Key Lime Pie, our bill before tax, tip, and credit card surcharge was $163.93. Considering the excellent food and outstanding service we received, the four of us universally agreed it was well worth the price! Pros: outstanding service, fantastic flavours, great atmosphere, and the 2-for-1 drinks during happy hour were a great deal! Cons: none! Overall we rate Mrs. Mac's Kitchen as being Excellent and cannot wait to go back!

Friendly, but talked a little too much and didn't write anything down, so kept forgetting things. The Ugly: Unsure about the entire restaurant, but our table was dirty. Like old dirty. Not like, they didn't wipe it down, but more like it had never seen a deep clean and stuff just kept accumulating. I had the shrimp and corn chowder. It was very watery. We enjoyed the desserts. I'm not sure if I would come back though. I'm just wondering if the whole restaurant is dirty like our table.
