My wife had a slice with just whipped cream on top. They also have coffee available for purchase. You then take your piece of pie and a fork that they supply along with your coffee and you go out into the garden where they have several tables set up and you can enjoy the garden and your delicious piece of Keylime pie! The Key Lime Lemonade was pretty good. Nice lemonade flavor with a little sour hint from the key lime. Worth trying if you like something a little tart. We also got the key lime pie with a little meringue on top. It had that same kick from the key lime but it was really good and surprisingly light. I got full pretty quick, but that seems to be a pattern on this trip. Neither of us are key lime pie people. We like it fine but we don't go out of our way for it. Since we were here though, when in Rome do as the Romans do, so we figured we'd give it a shot. As a huge fan of key lime pie, my eyes practically popped out of my head when I saw there's a whole factory dedicated to it. They have 6 or so different types of key lime pie...plain, meringue, chocolate on top with or without whipped cream... that you can buy by the slice or a whole pie. I got a slice of meringue and one of chocolate. The latter was more expensive than the ones without chocolate and was around 12.95 per slice. The meringue was around $10. At these prices I was expecting them to knock my socks off. They didn't. Don't get me wrong, they were good. Especially the meringue one. I ended up peeling the chocolate off that one because I didn't care for the combination. But I didn't think the pie was any better or worth more than any other place. The two ladies behind the counter were professional but not overly friendly. They had other things for sale so I spent some time looking around. The store is pretty big and could fit all kinds of stuff in it, but instead they had large sections of packaged key lime pie flavored cookies and merengues, plus 8oz containers of candy. I saw some limoncello coated marzipan that looked interesting, so for the ridiculous price of $16.50 I reluctantly bought some. They weren't as good as I was hoping. All in all I'm glad I went because I would have always wondered what was in there, but the pie is no better than any other place I've had it. So delicious! It does come at a cost, though. First, a "naked" pie will cost about $30 dollars, and one with meringue, closer to $40. We were driving down the highway and saw a sign that said Key Lime Pie Factory, so we did a u-turn as soon as it was safe! We couldn't wait to have a real key lime pie in Key West. After we parked we noticed a sign that said no dogs, so we left our pup in the car to run in and grab a treat. When you walk up to the door, there is another sign that gives off a bad vibe about people trying to "pass off" their dogs as service animals. They also had a shaded patio area behind the shop but they do not allow dogs out there either. Its felt a bit disturbing how fixated this store is on dogs and their antipathy towards them. I got the frozen key lime pie covered in chocolate on a stick. The price was ok but I wouldn't recommend it. The chocolate was thick and overpowered any flavor of key lime that might have been coming from the pie. It's also way too hot and humid for that choice because it started sweating and melting immediately so there's no chance of taking your time to savor it. My partner got the key lime pie slice with meringue and let me have a bite. It was good but the price was high at $12.95 for a small slice. In retrospect, we were a little too excited and didn't take the time to research this particular stop. If I had read the reviews, I would have seen that the owner has issues with animals and with customer service. I am shocked at some of the responses from the business to reviews on this platform. They had some items for sale, coffee beans, etc... but we were on a pie mission. All the pie slices are $9 but it's another $4 for the merengue. A whole pie is $30 ($40 for merengue).
