Food was ok but horrible horrible service. Amazing location very nice on a good street. Had the Cuban and the steak bomb they wer ok nothing special to be honest but well made I'll say that. We just dropped in quick for lunch and I had tbe Texas Brisket Sandwich with Carmelized Onions and it was amazing and enough for two meals. Two bites was all I could manage. One in my large party ordered the same entree and complained to the server but nothing was done. She said it may be a different cook. The server was very nice. This restaurant was directly across from the hotel we were staying in. Since it was close and it was so cold outside we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. We actually went another night since we enjoyed it so much. The fried pickles were sooo good! And I was surprised at how many we got. Our table also had pizza, buffalo chicken wrap the first trip. I stopped by with a couple friends after a night out elsewhere for a quick drink before heading home and found it convenient. It was after midnight, so it was a bit on the quieter end (especially considering that it was a chilly night and a bit rainy). We were able to grab a table right away and went to the bar to order drinks. Jackson was attentive and incredibly nice! The drinks were also strong and are well worth the price. I had a Jameson & Ginger while my two friends had espresso martinis. As far as food, during a previous visit, I had the baked Mac and cheese with pulled pork while another friend had the chicken tenders. They are good food options and what you can expect from a typical tavern (hence the name). This is definitely a spot to stop by when in the Beacon Hill area if you're looking for something more low-key. read more

Went to Hill Tavern while waiting for my wife who was seeing a doctor. Has the burger for lunch. I consider myself a really good judge of burgers. Might have been the best ever. Returned for dinner with my wife. Had the steak bomb. Burger was better but steak bomb was good. My wife had the cod and she said it was excellent including the mashed potatoes and the spinach. Your pretty average looking dive bar/tavern with incredible food. Living so close to the hill is dangerous and has become our ~almost~ weekly go to spot. They do have weekend brunch which I've never tried but definitely need to. Out of all the times I've been there, you think I would have tried more of their menu but once I found what I like it's hard to break from it. My go-to's are also their nachos with chicken and their green goddess wrap. This wrap is arguably the best wrap I've ever had. It's so good every time. If you go for nothing else, just get the wrap :) read more

Came here for the Celtics eastern conference game 7 and still got a table! TVs were a little small though Here are the things we ordered: - Mac and cheese: 5/5 this was excellent, very optimal pasta shape (cavatappi!) for peak cheesiness; we even got seconds - Truffle fries: 4/5 not the best I've had but decent. Came with lots of Parmesan on top but the fries were a little over cooked. Nice and salty though - Bruschetta: 4.5/5 the bread was very pillowy and soft, good amount of cheese and tomatoes and drizzle of balsamic on top, would recommend Service was a little slow but good vibes overall. Open til 2am every night, so would be a good spot for a late night hangout. I will be back soon to try the rest of their menu like the fried calamari Make sure to stop by next Wednesday night from 7-8pm for trivia night. Great food, drink, and staff. Not a dive bar per se, but one of the few spots left in Govt Center/Beacon Hill that has a genuine neighborhood feel. The vibe is very low key and friendly. We came to the hill tavern on a Saturday around 5. There was no wait and we could sit wherever. It gave very townie pub vibes. We got drinks right away but it took a while for our waiter to come back for food. The spinach dip wasn't the best, it had a lot of cheese and solidified quick. The pizza was good though! Weekday lunch with a colleague, we were here before the lunch rush started. Pick a seat, any seat. We chose a comfy four-top by the front window, which was super on a sunny day. Service was friendly and efficient and did not drop off as the place started to get busier into the regular lunch hour. I got a chicken sandwich and it was tasty. The tots were super hot, fresh out of the fryer. The sandwich was great, nicely loaded with veggies and flavor. The tots were just tots, but good. Looks like a great spot to get a drink after work. Appetizer we gave the Arancini balls a try they were good decent taste, good with the dipping sauce. Main dishes I had the Penne a la vodka, very good nice taste to the sauce simple enough but good in taste. My company had the Pulled pork sandwich w fries & the Mac & cheese. The sandwich was good, nice flavor to the meat fries were good except we had order the sweet potato fries & got regular fries. Ahh not that big a deal but waitress was no where to be found so we just kept it too much trouble to change. The Mac & cheese was very good nice taste with the cheese combo. I don't usually leave reviews for places, but wanted to leave one for this place. I ordered two Tavern Burgers and a few veggie burgers. When I was ordering, I specifically asked for the burgers to be plain, but got burgers with everything on them. I mean, there were tomatoes, lettuce, and onion. That merits a one star in my book, but after taking off the extra toppings, I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and richness of the burger. it was very tasty, and the service was very good too. However the service here was very slow and it wasn't even that busy, looked to be only two servers though. We ordered sodas and Arancini balls to start. My company ordered Penne a la vodka, pretty hard to mess up, sauce was a bit bland but wasn't watered down or anything so it was good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries & also a mac & cheese w/ bacon. I requested the fries to be sweet potato, but they gave me regular fries. Just kept the order because it took forever for the food to come and I was starving. I also requested for another drink and the server forget about it and gave it to me after about 5 minutes. The mac & cheese was good, tasted great with the bits of bacon. The pulled pork could have used a bit more sauce, but the meat tasted just fine. This place has a decent menu and a friendly staff and a nice sized place. But they really could either use another server or something. Shouldn't be forgetting small orders and have to wait long times to simply pour a soda. They can definitely use some improving, but still a good simple bar with good food. read more

The place is super cute, still gives a cozy vibes of course, our waitress was really friendly and made our experience that much better. They were playing some Hispanic music which was right up my valley since we're visiting from Miami. Now, the actual was surprisingly good, the tacos had that spicy touch that made them extremely flavorful, both pastas were delicious even though I found that the chicken was a little hard for my taste, but since it was so good I didn't mind at all. But nonetheless I have nothing but praise for The Hill Tavern. I indulged in a buffalo chicken pizza and some craft beers that were delightful. My friends and I go to Hill Tavern trivia every week. Usually there is a large group of us and we order a lot of food/drinks. Tonight, it just happened to be a smaller group and people just ordered drinks. The waitress was told by her manager, Dennis to talk to us about how this was losing them money. It ended up feeling more like a lecture but we understood that it wasn't her fault. However, then Dennis proceeded to come to our table, tell us that people were "pissed" and lecture us. When my friend asked for the bill since he clearly was accosting us in hopes of us emptying the table, he proceeded to yell at us about how "he was trying to be nice" (even though he was yelling). When we asked to speak with him after, he told the waitress to say he was "too busy," though not busy enough to come over and raise his voice at us in the first place. It was a ridiculous way to treat regulars. If the business had a minimum we would be happy to respect it but it's not our fault. The waitress even said that we weren't doing anything wrong and that it was excessive for him to come over when she had already spoken to us. Can't help but think he would never have done that to a group of men in suits but when it's a group of young girls he feels like he can treat us however he wants. read more
