My fiancé and I stayed at the Boxers after the Celtic game on March 31st. We went down to try out their brunch, and with a sigh of relieve, it was not too busy (plenty of seats). He ordered an omelette with everything on it and the ordered crab cake with poach eggs and hollandaise sauce. It took the waitress a while to bring our brunch in... probably more than an hour to be honest... But I have to admit, the food was pretty good. The breakfast potatoes was really crispy and delicious, the poach eggs was tasty and the coffee and the coffee was well brewed. The waitress was really nice too. I would say that there are a lot of brunch places better than Finch but if you have patience then try out their breakfast potatoes. read more

I just happened to be passing Finch, and noticed that there was a menu displayed near one of the rear doors. I stopped and took a sneak peek. To my surprise, the breakfast menu had a Crab Cake Benedict on it and for a premo location between the garden and the court house it was only $15. It was 7:30 am and I didn't have to be to work until 9, so I decided to sit and enjoy a nice breakfast. Well let me tell you, that's exactly what happened. I went in ordered the Crab Cake Benedict sat in one of the comfy living room chairs and enjoyed the lobby area. When my breakfast arrived, It looked beautiful and tasted even better. The English Muffin was soft and crunchy with 2 perfectly cooked crab cakes topped with a poached egg and sauce. They served it with perfectly prepared home fries. This was as close to a perfect plate as it gets. I will defiantly be going back for a second round of Crab Cake Benedict. I would like to state this review is for the breakfast service at Finch only as I did not stay there and only had breakfast. I give Finch a Solid 5 Stars. read more

So the West End is more of a sports bar...sports food area. The Finch was such a nice respite from the loud crowds and overpriced beers with crappy wings and burgers. Kyle Cook has just taken over at this establishment nestled in The Boxer Hotel. He's bringing years of experience working in Florida and other east coast eateries. I was super impressed with his outgoing charisma and his dedication to making the Finch a truly great restaurant and not just a bar. The atmosphere is casual and laid back. The drinks are great, the waitstaff is attentive and Chef Cook even gave my niece and I a delicious bowl of Brussel sprouts to devour as a welcome. I highly suggest checking this place out. If you want a more laid back classic cocktail lounge with good food before or after the game, this is your place. Oh, and they have free WiFi;) Cheers! read more

So much has changed for Finch in the past two years. I would disregard the earliest reviews and highly recommend a visit. They've managed to maintain an intimate, friendly feel even though more people have discovered the amazing hotel bar/restaurant. Service is the friendliest around. We managed to find a table by the bar and we're assisted by a waiter and the bartender checked in. The assistant manager also stepped by and asked us for input. Lovely!!! As for drinks and food, there's a bit of something for everyone. I'd recommend the charcuterie board, not specialized but easily enjoyable for everyone. read more

Cute little lounge bar off the Lobby of the Boxer Hotel. If you are nearby and looking for a low key lounge with some atmosphere and you are in the area, this is a good place to try. Small selection of cocktails, wine, and whiskey. We came here for afternoon drinks on a rainy day and enjoyed the featured cocktail - ciderhouse rules. We did not try any food. Nice feel, but rather empty. The bartender was attentive to our needs. Overall, this is a cute place, but unless you live within a 5 to 10 min walk and don't want to go far, there is nothing special about it. If the cocktails were less than $10, i would have given a higher review. I know $12 to $15 is standard in this area. As such, there are more unique bars in the area with offerings in the same price range. Great for hotel guests of the Boxer Hotel. read more

The atmosphere sucks. I mean, be real. It's like a little left over space from the hotel that they tried to monetize. I get that but they failed. Service is lacking, food was ok and to be honest there's so many better places to walk to and enjoy their ambiance over a "oh second thought we might want to put a restaurant here to service the hotel guests and others" place. I've noticed this wine bar etc.. is here to give hotel guests a place to spend a 20 voucher they get when the hotel screws up. read more

Sometimes, though rarely, I give places a chance before checking reviews. Sometimes it works out, other times not so much. Finch was definitely one of those "other" times, unfortunately. From an atmosphere standpoint, Finch is okay, albeit a bit confusing. I entered the restaurant through the small entrance at the "point" of the restaurant, but there's also an entrance connected to the hotel. If you come in through the non-hotel entrance, there's no host stand or anything. When it's not busy, you're not even sure if you're supposed to be there. Are they open? Closed? It's awkward. I went in and found the bar, as I figured I could at least grab a drink while waiting for my wife to finish with work nearby. The drinks are priced a little high, but that's not a big deal considering the proximity to the Garden and being in a hotel. The staff was nice enough, but seemed a bit scatterbrained, giving off that "we just opened and haven't worked the kinks out" vibe. Maybe Finch is indeed new...I don't know. Regardless, the service was adequate, but unremarkable. Just in the brief interaction of ordering a drink and getting menus, I was a little hesitant on ordering food, but when you're hungry, instinct sometimes loses. As I looked through the menu, nothing really hit the spot. Some burgers. Some tacos. Some random apps. It was so ordinary. There's nothing wrong with that, though. Limited, simple...we figured maybe they'd do a good job since they weren't doing anything too crazy. We ordered a burger and fish tacos...meh on both accounts. The fish tacos could've been pretty good if they hadn't come with the "aioli" or whatever it was that was so heavily dumped on each taco. I had to scrape off the overly-sour, bitter-beer-face-inducing condiment after one bite. I was never one of those kids who ate glue as a child, but I imagine this was what it tasted like...which makes me wonder: how did they keep eating it?!?! I digress, the tacos were a struggle to finish. My wife's burger fared better than my tacos, but she ordered a basic burger. Nothing to ruin it. Just a burger, bun, and ketchup. In her words, "I only got through it because I was so hungry." Kind of telling. Usually, you want your food to be so good that people can't stop eating it even when they're full. Not powering through because they're too hungry to care. The highlight of the meal? The fries. The fries were decent. The lack of upsides to the experience was really highlighted when I walked out of the place with $80+ less in my wallet. I wouldn't blink at paying that much for a good meal, but for a meal that's so disappointing? If it was returnable, my buyer's remorse would've sent me right back to get a refund, but that doesn't happen with food. You just walk away annoyed and bummed that you wasted your money and time on "that." There's always potential with Finch, but I don't know how many experiences like ours they can serve up before they run out of people giving them a chance. read more

The food and hospitality were amazing! My wife and I are from Oklahoma and this is our first time in Boston. We have had breakfast and dinner at the Finch. This is a "boutique" hotel. It's nice. The room is cute, small (but not too small) with a bathrobe, umbrella, and other nice details. But what makes a hotel qualify as a boutique hotel? Maybe having *something* special. I'm not sure what that is for the Boxer. I hate to be overly critical. But... I went to the restaurant last night. You'd think a boutique hotel would have some special booze or beer. But the spirits and beer selection was standard, and not special. Only three beers on tap, and not very interesting options. I ordered the sliders -- a small version of three sandwiches on their menu. Two burgers, and a chicken sandwich. The burgers had a chewy, lumpy, sub-standard meat, and they were so salty as to be inedible. The chicken sandwich *was* edible, but nothing special. The ambiance was fine, but not charming in any way. I'm not sorry I chose the hotel, but I won't be eating at Finch again. read more

Overdue review. The Finch is a great spot before a game, or for a casual conversation. The service was friendly and I really enjoyed my drinks. I noticed other comments below about the cocktails being expensive. 10-13$ is a standard price for lounge drinks, or any cocktails around the city for that matter. Great bar bites. I have not tried the breakfast! We put our parents up in this hotel and met them for drinks and a snack before a game. Worst service. We stayed at the hotel and had breakfast at The Finch. We got seated, and placed our order for the breakfast buffet. The waitress never came back to ask how we were doing, or even tell us where plates and juice or coffee was. Everyone else she sat, got a warm welcome, offered for coffee or juice, and asked if they wanted anything special. The waitress or the other man who was there ( possibly a manger ) never once checked in on us. They all kept walking by and looking at us, and that's it. We felt extremely discriminated. If ratings were just done on friendly staff and nice atmosphere, Finch would get four or even five stars, but I went there (twice - due to staying at the hotel) for food, and unfortunately, it just wasn't very good. Everything at both meals came out looking gorgeous, and as noted, but servers were absolutely top notch (kind, attentive, ready to go the extra mile), but the flatbread chicken with balsamic had almost no flavor at all (gouda in some bites was sort of a shocking counterpoint to this). Then the omelet the next day, with sausage, was made with some kind of odd tasting sausage that left me queasy for the rest of the day, despite my only having about half of it. If not eating, just having a drink and watching a Sox game, this is a nice place - but if food is on your agenda, I would recommend looking for something better. read more

I am torn about this place. I liked the furniture and seating albeit the layout is rather long and odd. The different areas make it feel as if you are separate from other patrons which is nice if you want to have drinks and intimate conversation. They service was also very personal and nice, making it quite comfortable to sit there. The issues I have are that I felt everything in the place was $2 over priced. I know it is a weird comment, but let me explain. Their cocktails were $12-$13 dollars. That is on the higher side. For that price I expect my drink to be balanced, shaken well, and STRAINED. The cocktails I ordered had shredded cilantro and bits of cucumber floating in it. Also, while I like my drinks strong, I also like it to have a good flavor. It was missing the latter. The food was presented well and tasted good but I thought over priced. I ordered Garlic Chicken Flatbread Pizza $14 and Trois Pommes $12 - A trio of fries, including classic, sweet potato, and parmesan truffle. $12 for french fries? Finally, the place seemed to be out of a lot of stuff. We ordered a Strawberry Basil Smash (on the menu), out of Basil. We ordered another cocktail with grapefruit (on the menu), out of grapefruit. If I remember correctly I believe they were also telling a table near us that they were out of pineapple which was on the menu. Staff and manager were apologetic, but offered no concession of any kind - nothing off the tab, no free drink, etc. very disappointing. A few of my coworkers and I decided on this restaurant to dine at prior to attending a Bruins game last month. The appeal of the menu and atmosphere on the website made it look like a great local place to dine and not too expensive. We arrived and the layout of the restaurant is very odd, we set this aside assuming it was only because it is located inside the Boxer Hotel. We sat down and were greeted with an extensive menu, 5 minutes later the waitress came back and took these menus away and gave us the "game" menu which consisted of about 7 options. We all ordered drinks off their extensive list of beers on tap and she went to fill our orders. Lets keep in mind there was one other couple dining in the entire restaurant. about 10 minutes later our waitress returned to tell us they had NONE of the beers any of us had ordered... so she said the bar tender had made a list of the beers the DID have... she didn't have that list with her so of course we continued to wait. After ordering our meals; Hamburgers, Lobster Rolls and soup/salads we waited an extensive amount of time to receive our "bar food" , again, there was still only one couple dining here. The meals were comparable to higher end cafeteria quality and absolutely not worth the time or money! I would not dine here again read more

We were in Boston in December. Our plane landed at 2 pm and by the time we got to our hotel it was 3 pm and we were starving! We walked across the street to Finch where we received a warm welcome despite the fact that we were there an hour before they opened. The manager gave us the warmest Boston welcome and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was perfect and when we return to Boston some day we will be sure to make Finch our dinner spot each night. read more

Went here for a quick app and a few drinks before a bruins game and loved it!! We had chicken bites as an app and they were delicious ! What really stood out to us though was the bartender keith! Not only was he very friendly he Made amazing drinks!! He made me his special caramel apple martini and it was honestly the best I ever had! We will be back for sure !
