I had to update my review because I can't help but come here, I really love this place! Everything from appetizers to brunch, I have not been disappointed yet.... I have been to the other sister location Eastbound, and from what I've been told Werewolf and Waterfront are somewhere in the family as well....maybe I'm just biased but still hands down this place takes the cake! Uhm hi this place is amazing. Seriously best happy hour! They do this thing where they spin a wheel and it basically decides a super whammy discount including free shots! The girls working in the bar and as servers are just all around great! Super positive and happy environment! It's contagious. Food was perfect. I got the mills burger and added avocado, egg and bacon and on the side we upgraded our fries to garlic fries.. and man let me tell you that garlic hit! Okay we had gotten the pretzel bites with spicy cheese dip, hitting taste buds I didn't know I had! Had their spin on a Bloody Mary which was a meal of its own and guess what!? It was also amazing. The Hills is your neighborhood bar's cool older brother. Laid back atmosphere and a slightly hipster vibe minus the pretentiousness. Walked in on a random Thursday night and the place was packed. Luckily a few people before us just got up so we were able to grab a table in the corner. Our server was great, she talked us through basically all the toppings and sauces they have for their burgers. I decided on the bistro burger that comes with Swiss cheese, bacon, and charred Brussels sprouts. I'm a huge fan of creative burgers and this one was awesome. Never had Brussels sprouts on a burger before and I'm wondering why more places haven't thought of this. And if they have, I'm wondering why it took me so long to discover it. The burgers come with fries and I ordered a side of their chipotle aioli (recommended by our server), which was spicy and delicious. We have been here twice and love this cozy, little place. Very clean. We've had The Hills Burger with Swiss, and Garlic Fries... the Sweet Potato Waffle Fries... the Pork Street Tacos with Spanish rice and black beans (excellent beans)... and the BBQ Chicken sandwich with onion rings. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. It's not overly noisy even when full of customers... and the TV's aren't blaring so that makes it nice when chatting with friends. Looks like its going to become our "go to" spot when in the La Mesa area. read more

I make my way out sometimes and occasionally hit up local joints. This was not my first time in this place. Times prior food was okay (probably a stretch but whatevs), place was crowded but service was decent. I'll never set foot in this place again after the treatment our group received last night. We had a party of four in here. One of the people in our group was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. He received a lot of comments and complaints during our short stay from patrons about his attire but at the end of the day it is his choice, right? Not the case in this crap hole. They asked us to leave. Worst service and discriminating service I might add (although you could probably gather that already). It's a shame this place and their intellectually challenged employees occupy some prime La Mesa real estate. Go to BJs or Bo Beaus or even Denny's will do you better. ***Edit*** Hard to be more disappointed w/ The Hills but not impossible it would seem. Felt the need to point out that the reply from Ashley N. (at this business) has some serious honesty issues. While I think maybe she's trying to cover herself in her employees eyes, she's going about it the wrong way. Went for a quick HH. It is taco Tuesday. Place was busy. I sat at the bar. I ordered one taco and a beer. I didn't expect it to take so long, about 50 min. I Was looking more for a quick stop. Maybe someone called in sick.. ordered the special taco of the night which was just ok. Has to request some additional seasoning. I got the chicken fried steak for their Sunday Brunch special. The place was packed and busy. I waited about twenty minutes for a to go order (sometimes waiting is a good thing!). I could cut through the chicken fried steak with my fork alone (tender). The breading was crispy (keep in mind the place was packed and they delivered a quality meal at 12:30PM, toward the end of their Brunch shift), the scrambled eggs were fully cooked but not dry, and the potatoes were deliciously seasoned (WITHOUT using ONIONS, it is possible folks. They have you order from the bar I'm sure due to Covid staffing issues and such. The server at the bar wasn't busy and took it upon himself to come to our table and take our orders even though he didn't have to. BOW DOWN! My new favorite bar and hamburger! Our friend came to visit from the east coast and she wanted to go to a local bar to watch some of the world cup. Since the baby was born my husband and I haven't really gone out so we were down for this, the only issue was that she wanted some specific requirements met. 1) It needed to have beer on tap and 2) it needed to have a patio. We couldn't go to our favorites because they were a little far away and my parents were watching the baby so she did a yelp search and this place came out on top. Once we walked in we knew why. Went here for the first time last night. My Fiancé convinced me to try the Bouffant burger and we got garlic fries. All I can say is one of the best burger and fries I have had in a long time! The burger is quite large and fills you up pretty fast but, its so good you just want to keep eating it. I don't know who the chef is at this place but treasure them!! :). If anyone is a burger person I would highly recommend checking this place out. The place seems like a local bar that knows a lot of their customers by name. Very homey atmosphere and quick service. My husband and I just recently visited this place. Amazing service, good food and great beer selection. One of the few pubs I've been to that have sour beers! As far as service, it has a very friendly feel. They really try to know your names and are very attentive. You don't feel like just another customer. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday. This is a relatively new place in the area that took over what used to be a really gross bar. What won me over immediately was the friendly staff! As soon as we walked in everyone stopped to say hi, even though it was fairly busy. We sat at the bar and the bartender introduced herself and asked our names. She addressed us by name throughout lunch, it was pretty cool! The place is small, but they have plenty of tv's for sports lovers and a nice outdoor patio. Onto the food, we had an order of wings, the portobello burger and the buffalo chicken salad. All were good. The wings are not your run of the mill bbq wings. They are a crispy grilled wing served with an amazing chipotle dipping sauce. Super yummy and meaty! The burger was pretty awesome, patty was piled with mushrooms, spinach, cheese and bacon. It was juicy and flavorful. Hubby had the salad with buffalo chicken. It was really yummy. Everything seemed fresh and the flavors were perfect!
