Lemon Drop and La Mesa rolls..
    Sarah B.

Nice little space, clean. And good outdoor seating. New Owners took over the Oyster & Pearl space. Service was great. Our server was Sarah, and she walked us through the menu and answered all our questions, and explained the rolls in detail that we were interested in. Menu was extensive, and had a good balance for non-sushi eating folks. I love that they have hour the whole day, Monday and Tuesday. We started off with the calamari ringers, lightly fried and tender. We went with the La Mesa roll which was topped with tuna and Lemon drop topped with salmon. Our fave was the lemon drop, the ponzu sauce and sliver of lemon was the perfect combo. I normally don't eat salmon, but this time I indulged.. fish was fresh. Definitely will be back to try additional items.

Service was amazing at lunch, our waitress was attentive and helpful. She was on it. We ordered several rolls, a nigiri combo and sashimi - loved the presentation of the sashimi. Prices were fair and there was indoor and covered patio seating and easy parking.

Tappi Sushi Lounge has recently taken over the Oyster & Pearl Bar Restaurant with this sushi and bar eatery. I stopped in for a late lunch or early dinner and ordered the garlic edamame, the protein roll, and Salmon Nigiri. Everything was quite good, especially the garlic edamame. The edamame were tender and delicious. Their garlic flavor was very good but not too strong, and they were well seasoned. The protein roll was very good, too. The roll came with yellow tail, avocado, thinly sliced lemon, and roasted jalapeno with miso ponzu, micro cilantro and masago. I loved the lemon and jalapeno combination. It not only went well with what was on top, but went well with the spicy krab, spicy tuna, and cucumber on the inside. It was a well balanced flavored roll. The salmon nigiri was excellent. The salmon had a very good flavor. The sushi rice was well made. Next time I need to try the tuna nigiri. The service was friendly. They have a nice patio and plenty of inside seating. They are under a soft opening and still working on interior design and finalizing the menu. Cool new sushi spot in La Mesa.

Fried ice cream sans banana. Delicious.

The food is good. The service is great. They play good music in the bathroom. There's always parking. My picky boyfriend and I have eaten here a handful of times. It's definitely in our rotation.

Incredible food & service. Our wait staff was fantastic and we were seated quickly. We ordered about 4-5 different rolls as well as a very delicious Strawberry Nigiri for drinks. The rolls had a good quick to them, especially the sin city & salmon roll as well as the ponzu sauce our waitress brought us. Desert was a choice of multiple mochis (the cookies & cream was my favorite) Overall, will be coming back!

This is a new location in La Mesa. They have a happy hour with pretty good specials and it is all day on Monday and Tuesday. I had the sin city roll, spicy yellowtail roll and chili brussel sprouts. My favorite was the brussel sprouts but everything was good. The service was great and all that cost about $30 because the happy hour. It was a great price, enough food that we both got full and they have the option of indoor or outdoor seating.

I love the sushi here! I had their sin city roll and their wings (lemon pepper and chili) and both were sooooo good! The staff is super nice too. Highly recommend! For ambiance, the place looks great so if you want to take a date there, you'll be good.

Food was delicious & service was great! We sat outside during their soft opening and it was very nice. Would definitely recommend.

Oysters just needs some kick but great!

I'm scared to leave this review because my husband and I love it now and hate crowds! We used to go to Banbu as our spot but this place is warmer and welcoming. Christina and Norma are the best servers!. They made us feel Ike regulars. The food is so good! Habanero rolls! Haven't found a place around that does this. It's our new favorite sushi spot. Every item on the menu was 10/10! Teriyaki amazing! Edamame amazing! Rolls amazing! Oysters amazing!

The salmon and tuna nigiri was really good! I also ordered some salmon belly that was delicious!! I enjoyed the rolls that I ordered especially the mango and the Osaka roll. Our servers name was Sarah, she did a fantastic job overall. She was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying our food. That made my experience much more enjoyable, it's nice to have a server that genuinely cares about your experience at the restaurant. All of the rolls she recommended were great. The restaurant was nice and clean. I will totally be coming back!

This place to took over the Oyster and Pearl restaurant. Solid food and great service!

Great addition to the neighborhood. Same layout as Oyster and Pearl with some minor changes. Sushi was excellent and service was great! Bar is now open.

    Lemon and dragon roll

It's like I want to leave this review, but I also don't want to because I fell in love with this place instantly and don't want it to turn into a hype spot where it makes it impossible to get a table. I know, I shouldn't gatekeep lol the minute I walked in the ambience, was very soothing and welcoming This place is top notch and seriously worth trying. You will not be disappointed from the minute we walked in we were greeted with amazing customer service and we had the pleasure of being served by Christina. Christina was very helpful and knowledgeable within the menu and recommended amazing dishes for us to try. She was very attentive and made sure that we did not wait to order additional items. Her energy is something I truly value and she made this first visit worth while. Anything that we needed, she was there to exceed our expectations. She had Amazing customer service and I will say and it's definitely hard to find nowadays. I appreciate when I can vibe with a server and feel a genuine connection. The food was amazing. We ordered the lemon sushi roll, the tappi roll and the dragon roll along with the garlic edamame and the baked mussels. All of these options were A+. The saki and the beer was amazing and I really cannot wait to come back and try additional rolls. If you are in the area or looking for a local spot to have fresh sushi, look no further! Tappi sushi is your spot to go to. I recently learned they also have a breakfast spot in El Cajon and I am definitely excited to try this spot for breakfast.

Padres Roll. Inside, shrimp tempura, cucumber and cream cheese. Outside Salmon and Krab. Skimpy ingredients.

Very disappointing experience…read more My husband and I were asked to leave after briefly being in the restroom together -- which are non-gendered restrooms -- while he was assisting me with checking my blood sugar levels. This was a medical necessity to ensure my safety. Monitoring blood sugar is not something that can reasonably or appropriately be done out in public, and there was no private space offered or available at the bar to accommodate this medical need. Throughout the evening, I had used the same restroom multiple times with female friends without any issue. The only time staff intervened was when my husband was present specifically to help with a medical situation. We are older adults and long-standing, active members of this community. We rarely go out -- this was for a friend's birthday, something we do maybe once a year. We were with a group of friends who are also older adults, all of whom had been there for some time, simply sitting together and minding our own business, not interacting with or disturbing other patrons. Being removed in front of our friends, without any conversation, clarification, or discretion, was deeply embarrassing and upsetting. A simple, private question or a moment of understanding could have avoided this entirely. I hope management uses this as an opportunity to better train staff on handling medical situations with compassion, discretion, and consistency.

Our waitress, Francesca, was an absolute delight and helped my wife navigate their menu to suit her several dietary restrictions without any judgement or hesitation. She had great recommendations and was an absolute delight to chat with throughout the night! We had a wonderful time treating ourselves to all kinds of delightful dishes - especially the fried brie special. So, so good. I highly recommend this plane for a fancy date night. It's not the cheapest, but you definitely get the quality that you pay for. 10/10 will date night here again

Antica Trattoria serves acceptable pasta, but not much else stands out…read more They were not very busy, so a reservation was not necessary. Our server was kind, though we did not receive as much attention as some of the other tables. Bread is not complimentary, and one of my party members accidentally agreed to it when asked. I did appreciate that salads could be split and were finished with freshly cracked pepper, though I wish there had been more engagement from the staff beyond adding pepper and Parmesan. *Homemade Bread: served with what was described as herb infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread itself was airy but fairly bland. I could not really detect any herb flavor in the oil, and the portion of oil and vinegar felt a bit small for the amount of bread. *Insalata Venere: featured poached pears, goat cheese, and caramelized walnuts. The greens were well dressed in a bright, acidic vinaigrette. The pears were the highlight, offering a warm sweetness that paired nicely with the creamy goat cheese. The walnuts, however, had an off texture and could have benefited from better caramelization. *Penne: adding protein felt pricey, with chicken costing an extra $8. The chicken was chopped quite small, and I would have preferred larger pieces. The sauce itself was flavorful and well developed, but the pasta was cooked past al dente. *Capellini: nicely paired with mushrooms and shrimp, though the toppings carried the dish more than the pasta or sauce. The sauce was quite muted and tasted like a simple tomato base without much seafood depth. The shrimp and pasta were slightly overcooked. Overall, it is a decent option for Italian food, but nothing particularly memorable. While the portions are generous, the flavors did not quite match the price point, and I would have preferred more depth and execution across the dishes.

After a quick look around, I took a seat at the bar. The bartender had her back to me; I could see her texting, then switching to Instagram. The bartender walks away to make the drink and immediately complains about me to her friends sitting directly across the bar. One of them rolls his eyes at me. Me: Hey, I was nice enough to wait while you were on your phone. Bartender: No, you weren't. I slide my drink back to her. Me: You can just give my drink to your friends across the bar. Bartender: I will. I walk out. The eye-roller stares at me as I leave. Acknowledge guests, stay professional, and don't complain about customers to friends sitting right in front of them.
