Just came back from having lunch here. NEVER AGAIN !! The beer was cold, so that was good. My husband's burger was just a normal frozen patty not homemade. The bun was cold. My salad was good but the waitress forgot to ask what kind of dressing I wanted. We waited15 minutes for a take-out container. We were overcharged by$2.00 for the salad. Chose to stop by with some friends to enjoy dinner (after raving to them about enjoying your establishment) well...that changed really quickly. We first sat out back, table close to the fire, when the gentleman came over and added ALOT more wood and stirred it, we decided to move due to the smoke and ashes. Our waitress Lanae, seemed irritated that we moved (1 table over in an open seating area) so we order... (again Waitress Lanae, seemed to really hate her job, maybe us ordering was too much for her) so we then get our food in a reasonable amount of time, but heaven forbid us ask for condiments or napkins. Well, most of us got our food, the husbands pizza was delivered to the wrong table, which Lanae never noticed that he didn't have his food (however she suggested he try it) the "Bacardi special" posted at the bar was not what you would think. The sign was wrong, so she (Lanae) literally argued and rolled her eyes when asked about it. She did say she gave a 10% off adjustment for the pizza issue, that didn't happen either. We went to pay inside and she followed us, telling us we Had to pay her, we explained that we will pay inside after we talk to the manager about the issues, she threw up her hands, argued again, said she would get the manager (which another waitress told me was her MOTHER) we paid and left I'm sure the Apple doesn't far from the tree.... WE WILL NOT GO BACK OR SUGGEST THIS PLACE TO ANYONE It is pretty sad that the staff came to us (That overheard everything) giving support to us that she is just a negative, unhappy person, that gets ALOT of complaints that they hate working with. Long few days at the Tucson Glass Flame off. Stopped by Hitching Post for a bacon cheese burger pizza to go. Had a couple of Kiltlifters on tap while we waited. Clean and friendly with great pizza. Inside is deco'ed like an old western town theme. Even a patio with a view of the Superstitions. Again great pizza! read more

Really bad experience. I took 4 of my out of town guests for lunch. On the way in, two of them picked up crayons and pages to color while waiting for their food. The rude waitress picked them up to return them to the stand. We said it was ok to leave them as they liked to use them while waiting. The waitress said they were for children only and not for adult use.....hmmmmm. Adult coloring books? She rudely asked if we were serious. Then she said she couldn't believe "women of your age" would use them. Grrrrrrr! She took our drink orders and left. The longer we sat, the angrier we got so we walked out. The manager said the waitress had alerted her of "OUR" problem and told us to have a nice day. Grrrrrrrr! My husband and his two friends go for lunch there at least once a week and sometimes twice. We stopped by for a drink and lunch today. Five ladies 66-74 years old. Two of us like to color "adult coloring is a new thing". We picked up a few crayons and a book to color in. The female server grabbed the crayons & books off the table. She said she couldn't believe "someone your age" would ever request to color. She said, " Are you kidding me? These are for kids (no kids in the restaurant) She wiped off the dirty table on us and continued to bitch at us! We were shocked & ordered our drinks. Finally came to our senses and left. We asked her name which she refused to give us. We talked to Sue behind the bar and she wouldn't give us the waitress name either. These people were nasty acting crazed. Ill keep it simple regarding my visit here a few week ago. -Food was overcharged, and small proportions. -Booze was expensive. -Music was too loud, couldn't even hear the server, though DGB was awesome,though it would be nice to hear them outside. -The servers were attentive, however they were clearly short staffed. - The only reason we went in the first place was to meet the infamous BJ Beth, who by the way I wouldn't let anywhere near me with those teeth. If I could rate it zero stars I would. Been comming here for about three years. Close to home and can ride my horse to the restraunt. The food has always been average until lately. The chicken that used to be good has gotten tasteless and greasey. The hamburger is drie and and even after a tablespoon of mayo is still dry! The service has always been slow an unattentive. I have often had to get my own condiments and plastic ware. But today was shamefull. After walking through the dessert and ordering a $20 pizza they would not give a glass of water. They said I would have to purchase a 5 cent bottle of water from Costco for $2.00. Shame on these people for not offering good AZ hospitality! You don't withhold water from people in the dessert. never will I go back to the place. I will go down the street to Fillies Road House where you can get a complimentary water. read more

If you want to understand Apache Junction you might as well start at Hitchin' Post. The burgers are pretty good and if you like country music, two-stepping, and watching people be thrown from live bulls, you will love this place. I'm into just the burgers part. Food has been great wings are large and the service was good..Nobody in the place so maybe that was why we got our food so quickly ...One of our buds received his food, unfortunately it had a long hair in the French fries...Too bad as everything else was excellent.. Great place and atmosphere. The only reason I dont rate 4 or 5 is because of some of the staff. I come here to get out of the house and relax. Forget about things for a bit but I constantly here about how upset they are about other staff or the owner. Most people don't care to hear about what should be happening behind the scenes. Went there last night. The place is fun to go to and the music is great. However, I had a white pizza and it was the worst pizza I have ever tasted. The crust was so thick it was like eating a loaf of bread. There was no flavor and it was horrible. I would definitely not recommend the white pizza, try a different one if your doing pizza read more

(PLEASE READ!!!) Absolutely horrible!!! This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to when it comes to service! The waitress was EXTREMELY rude and the food sucked too. We even had to get our own drinks after waiting for 20 minutes and even then the little flimsy plastic cups were half way filled. The waitress held our food up against her armpit and hair also just so that she could bring all of the trays of food without walking an extra 40 feet. We had around 12 people with us and they threw a fit when we even simply moved a 4 top table over so we could all sit together even knowing there was hardly anyone in the place and there was plenty of room. Rachel, the waitress, would almost even yell at us for doing absolutely nothing wrong. I ordered chicken wings and I waited forever until I finally asked the waitress where my food was and she made a snarky comment and said they forgot about it. After I told them I did not want them because the rest of our party was already done eating they said "no they are going to be made shortly" and would not take no for an answer. Ended up paying for a meal that I didn't even eat. Multiple people from our party have had the same complaints about their stomach hurting and having food poisoning a few hours after eating there. This restaurant should be shut down or a huge change in staff. Rachel made sure to try and be nice when she handed us our bills so she could get a nice tip after we had a large bill for gross food. She blamed the shitty service on the restaurant being "too busy" even knowing we were the only people eating there. None of us will ever be back and we will make sure to tell all of our friends too. A group of 10 friends went to the Hitching Post this past Saturday evening to eat, drink & be merry! Both of the bands were good but the food left quite alot to be desired, unfortunately. Two of us ordered burgers medium rare and both were well done, hockey puck style. I sent mine back to the kitchen and they informed me that they were out of burgers and it was not even 7 PM!! The onion rings and french fries were awesome but it would've been nice to have an edible burger. The drinks were $5.50 each for a very small plastic cup which was primarily ice cubes. We decided what all the fuss about this place was like. Sorry guys, We decided to do a take out. Order the fish and my husband ordered a pizza. What a disappointment on both meals. The fish was reasonable enough, cut for what you got and it was very greasy. My husband pizza was terrible and way to over price. We will stick with skies restaurant. Regarding the Hitching Post Steak House - the steaks were okay, and the beef stroganoff was good but all you get for a steak dinner is a 12 ounce steak and a baked potato all for the price of $19.00 and then you have to pay $3.99 for a side salad (the "salad bar" was 'out of order') - we were the only people in the place - should have been my first clue....but if they want to succeed, they need to add a vegetable of the day or salad, and some breadsticks/rolls to the total price of the meal, otherwise, we won't be going back. They should even add a grilled chicken breast to the menu for people who don't eat beef or salmon. read more

I went to the Blues Fest on Sunday held at the Hitching Post. I ordered a 12 ounce draw of beer and was shocked when the bartender asked for $10.00. This was especially dissatisfying since the same beer served outside where the stage was set up cost $5.00. They also sold overpriced bar food of low quality. If the Hitching Post decides to host a 2nd annual blues fest, I for one will not be in attendance. read more

Owner was rude to us one too many times, and we won't be back. 6 of us walked out on Friday. He was personally rude to me a year ago..I left and didn't return until a month ago. This time he was rude to 2 of my friends who are a regular part of our group. We'd been loyal customers for years....every Wednesday and Friday, ordering food and drinks & dancing to the band. He won't allow customers who arrive 90 minutes before the band starts to save seats for fiends who will arrive within minutes, never mind that our group brings anywhere 4-8 patrons regularly. He makes us move to less desirable seats to make room for others, rather than giving late-comers those seats. At times won't even let someone sit and wait for friends, so we have to stand....all have to be there before seated and he once told me which chair I was to sit on out of the 8 at the table, all which will be occupied by our party. Has also said he will make people pay $20-$25 for an empty seat if one of their party doesn't show up. One would think he would thank us for being loyal customers and bringing new customers with us. Our entire party always orders food and drinks. I could go on and on about this owner...never seen anyone behave like this to customers. I've witnessed several others walk out after his rudeness....last year two couples left within 10 minutes of each other due to the owner's rudeness. We'll miss our friends at the HP, but they also patronize Filly's, the Mirage, Cowboys Up, Skies, and the Trough as we do.. Great bands & good people in many locations within two miles of HP. read more

This place is okay. The food was pretty simple and filling, but nothing to write home about. A side salad was $6 and you couldn't substitute one for your side. Our waitress was awful and surly. She asked what we wanted to drink, informed us the options weren't in the menu, and proceeded to stare at us until we selected our drink option. We then had to ask what the options were. They don't have ice water, they have bottles. I opted for lemonade since I didn't want to pay for water. My boyfriend got coke and we stopped trying to get her to bring us refills and started asking at the bar (even though it was flat). My burger was listed on the menu with BBQ and came without so I had to ask for some (I was hesitant to do so since she met all requests with a scowl). We won't be coming back for food anytime soon. From the outside there was plenty of potential for a great dining experience. They have hitching posts full of horses and fun decor. But all in all the experience was pretty disappointing. The worst part was we were the only people in the restaurant when we first ordered so there's no excuse for the terrible service. read more

Great place to relax and enjoy a cocktail or two. The view is spectacular!!! The service is friendly and welcoming. The chicken sandwich is amazing. Theres a steakhouse here that just opened, smells wonderful. Haven't had the steak yet but thought it was cool that you can order from the bar menu or the steakhouse menu. Ordered the haystack shrimp and was pleasantly surprised. I would compare that shrimp to a shrimp appetizer at any of the finest steak houses in Phoenix, yes it's that good. Three stars because the back porch area is horrendous. With that beautiful view of the Superstition Mountains I don't know why they don't make it nicer to sit out back. Very cheap plastic furniture that doesn't even match. Would be fine for a dive bar smoking patio but if you're going to charge $13 for 10 wings and $10 + for a burger or have $25 steak dinners (per person) you might want to fancy it up a little bit. Other than the cosmetic aspect still not a bad place to hang out and have a cocktail or two. read more
