I love The Hive! I'm a stay at home mom but work part-time so I love being able to bring my daughter (almost 2yo) with me to play in the childcare area. She also loves to run around in the play yard so it's a great place to meet for play dates. When my daughter was younger I would attend the new mama social on Tuesday mornings. It felt so great to know that I had a place of support to go to and look forward to. Its still so nice to have a place to go and just hang out when we need a change of scenery or a little time to focus on work or just take a break. Everyone there is so friendly and welcome. Shelley even helped me jumpstart my battery when my car wouldn't start! I really admire all that they have built and the resource they're providing for local families! read more

I came here last week with my two kiddos the coffee was great, and the staff was very nice. However, their AC was broken so the heat became unbearable inside. We ended up leaving after a few minutes, the staff assured me that the AC was going to get fixed later on that week. We returned a little over a week later only to find it had not been fixed and it was still miserably hot on the inside. As this place is about a 15 min drive from my house, I was frustrated! I really could not be mad at the staff as they looked just as tired of the heat as we were. This place has great potential, but you just cannot have a malfunctioning AC in this Texas heat!!! read more

Ever since having a child, the idea of providing an hour of relief over dinner for parents has been a seriois goal of mine. I simply couldn't understand why no one had done it. Boom - here it is. Work at home - got you covered. Need a date night - covered. I'm a HUGE fan. There's a giant open yard that could probably accommodate 100 kids, at least. There's an old home thats been converted for the purpose of providing play rooms for the kids and at the center of the home, there's a large open space for parents. One of the play rooms has a half door with latch to keep the kids in. There's PLENTY of toys inside and out, including small all the way to full size play houses. In the front there are no less than 3 food trucks. They serve alcohol inside. This place is simply an early parents dream. read more

It really doesn't get much better than this - and every time I go to the Hive, something new is happening. While I love our preschool, they follow AISD schedule and it seems like they are off school ALL the time. Well this mama's got a full time gig and only has so much time off. The Hive is perfect in a pinch! The seating area is quiet and comfortable (with wifi!) and there are private cubes (or even a room) available as well. And snacks and COFFEE. (There is also booze too, but I felt weird ordering that at 8am ;-) I haven't been by since their drive-thru has opened, but you can cruise by for a taste if you'd like. My little gal (2.5) loves the Hive and I feel very comfortable with her in the staff's care - besides, I'm literally right next door and can peak through the one-way glass. It is important to note they do not do diapers/potty breaks or snacks so if you are going to stay awhile* you need to be on standby for that sort of thing. Some kiddos might not do well with the interruption or with the separation again, so just calling it out. Alas, *the Hive is not designed for full time care, and should not be abused as such, ha. But, if necessary, you can hang there for up to 4 hours each day, and/or 12 hours a week. (So during spring break, I was able to get just enough coverage not to lose my job!) I think the Hive is really designed for a little of ME time, while your kiddos are in good hands close by. Of course you can pop by whenever - or for their Friday night happy hours or Saturday morning play dates (with bouncy house!) but they often have special events like a mobile mani/pedi truck or Goat Yoga (yes, you read that correctly). This month I also saw: Transplant Brunch (welcoming those new to Austin), Date Night With Childcare, Back to School Luau, Science & Film Camp. I can't thank the owner and staff enough for providing such a special place in South Austin. It's been fun to see them grow and can't wait for what's on the horizon. read more

Above-and-beyond friendly and helpful customer service, a plethora of indoor and outdoor seating options, fast wifi, and absolutely everything you could ask for on a menu. You could easily spend an entire day here caffeinating, snacking, working on your laptop, reading, picking out groceries to bring home, enjoying a drink with a friend, etc. - and their hours are extremely convenient. 8AM to midnight. Stopped by on my visit from Sc. And was hoping to find a local shop that can make an awesome Mocha Caramel Latte as good as BIGGBY coffee. In all my travels I have yet to find anyone. That is until now!!! Holly talked me into giving her Chance to make me one. Let me tell you, she did not disappoint!!! This is the first time I did not pour out a latte that wasn't from BIGGBY. Not impressed at all. The 2 customers in front of me received wrong orders. I ordered 2 iced almond milk lattes and I received 2 flavored iced lattes. I didn't ask for flavor at all. This spot is open for dine in during COVID. It's a nice place to study at with plenty of comfy chairs and outlets-- it does get a little warm during the day so they have some standing fans available for people who may need them. They serve some food such as sandwiches, overnight oats, waffles, French toast, and pastries. They also have some snacks available for purchase such as chips and granola bars. I wish this kind of place had existed 20 years ago when I needed it the most. This is a perfect place to have a confidential meeting with clients, some private time with fast Internet to get things done, get the kids out of the house and let them play in a safe environment where you can see them, and grab a cold frosty beer in the process. I love the way this place feels because you are immediately comfortable and it is wide open so you can see just about everything when you stand in the middle of the structure. Great outdoors and I understand that they have a band or to the place during the week. You can also see some livestock next-door and there's also ample parking. What a great little place to fall in love with, it feels so south Austin cozy and the kind of place where you want to go just because you can. read more

This place is so cute! You walk in to a business center and seating area, you choose. Their coffee is good but I'm not much of a coffee gal, I'm pretty hyper to begin with. Definitely enjoy their cocktails paired with their cheese platters and yummy dessert. On weekends they have performers for children out in the yard and you can see the little kiddies playing on the playground and gathered around the entertainer. The Hive is a lifesaver. If you are a parent of young children (up to 6 I'd say) and you need an hour or three to work give it a try. There's a large play room with enough toys to keep your little one busy, caring staff and a great outdoor area. I came for a three hour period and could work uninterrupted. Infants need the odd diaper change, but otherwise this was a great reprieve if you need to get work done, read a book (haha kidding) or just lay your forehead on a cool cafe table and empty your brain of maaaamaaaa! for just a few precious seconds. I love my kid. Best of all, really lovely staff and ownership and an unpretentious spot. Shelly refunds cancelled sessions quickly and without questions. Stopped in for the first time this morning. Cozy indoor area with nice seating options and fantastic outdoor backyard patio area with lots of tables next to a beautiful garden.
