The Hive is a go to for locals who live or work in this area. It may make others pause but if you are in the area a want a cold beer or a burger. The staff and customers seem to have a rhythm. Sitting at the bar means you are more likely to get that drink refilled quickly but table service is fairly prompt I have found over the years. And since I am not a regular I am not necessarily going to join in on bar banter. The prompt mentions ambiance.... It's a neighborhood bar in an old house. Not sure I would use the word ambiance to describe The Hive exactly. But try it out. read more

Local "dive bar" with plenty of regulars and some times it's very noisy and crowded. They have a full bar and specials plus smoking only outside. The bbq burger was good , nice flavorful sauce just wish it came with pickles and onion fries were great. Husband's patty melt was delicious as were the fries. read more

I just wish this little token "dive bar" was located in the city. The bartender was very nice and very accommodating. We stopped for lunch, I ordered the grilled chicken salad, the salad was huge with plenty of grilled chicken. Their house dressing was a semi sweet Italian that was very good. For bar food, it was pretty good. That was one hefty Patty Melt they served up and the slaw was vinegar based (my FAVE!). The Shandy cocktail was pretty good too. Extremely loud, but it IS a bar. Overpriced food is the biggest flaw with this place. For twenty dollars the chicken and waffles are definitely not worth the price. Chicken was refried making it tough to eat. Waffles were also clearly just reheated as well. They also added an extra charge of "customer service" when I was picking up the order. Won't eat here again. read more

I would love to give this bar 5 stars bc bartenders like Andy (the guy) and Ashley are so personable and make you feel at home. Unfortunately, the offensive "regulars" tend to dominate the bar atmosphere and more often than not, any bartender will cater to those people over you (except Andy). Bottom line: you either have to be attractive and brand new, or old and "know somebody" to not be harassed by certain patrons AND/OR staff at a certain hour. Leave before 11:00pm on any given day if you want to keep your dive bar experience as a good one. read more

My empty glass on bar for over 15 mins. Another group of 6 guys walk in to my right. Same treatment , guy next to me "what's up with that " I'm like no clue Finally young guy working bar area I say I am Trying to order food can't get attn. he helps me rolls his eyes I played touch tunes from my phone no music. Asked about it "I'll check". Then. Crickets. She finally takes the group drink order reluctantly one of worst attitudes I've seen In Years. An hour and 15 mins. I've been coming to this place for a while. The one problem with the craft cocktail movement is the vanishing dive. Easier to find in the city I know but this one is a gem for the West Co area. Everyone seems to know you and if they don't they will by the time you leave. The food is always your traditional bar food and the drinks are just what you want and strong. It is in a out of the way place in west county though off the main roads. Close to the golf course so it serves as the 19th hole for some. It's certainly a place to get to know your neighbors. A great neighborhood spot for any area, but I'm glad its in stumbling distance if needed. read more

At the invitation of friends, I joined a small group at The Hive around 5:30 PM on a weekday. Conveniently located and open late, it proved to be a great gathering spot, with good service and good food. Drinks were reasonable, and there was plenty of seating for everyone. We came in last night to celebrate a coworker. The food was soooo good and the environment was perfect. I love the mixed crowd. The employees were so awesome especially Andi and Alex. Alex waited on our table and he was so helpful and has amazing service skills. Andi and Alex together were so hilarious and made me make the decision that this will be my new after work spot. Walked in and immediately greeted by a beautiful bartender always a nice start. It was a Saturday afternoon so not busy but handful of regulars were there and very entertaining. The bad was nice and clean. Typical sports bar. Watched the Kentucky Derby and ate a chicken Caesar salad which was delicious. Ordered the Four Roses small batch neat which was reasonably priced. Over all great place! The dressing wasn't fishy like some Caesar dressing is and the portion was good. read more

The Hive's greatest asset isn't its drink menu. It's Scarlett. Scarlett is the best server I have ever been waited on by. She is personable and friendly but also funny and quick-witted. She makes sure I am well taken care of by asking me about my day and if I need anything else. She is not just good at her job but has a deep motivation to care for others. Hands down this is the only bar worth going to in creve couer. The food is great. Especially the pizza and wings. I sat at the bar and this trash talking, very funny bartender got my drinks and they definitely don't under pour. Seems like there are many regulars and some of them engaged me in conversation. The Hive is a two story dive with a deck that hires milfs to serve to middle age or older West county men. (If you are looking for a "sugar daddy"... ;) The milf bartender was nice and allowed me to get a pitcher of beer price on 4 pint glasses. The tap selection was all large brewery & mostly light beers, but I was on a lunch break so I was O.K. The milf made the joke about men being visual and gave me 4 poker chips and took one away for the first beer. I ordered the 'taco salad" and quickly was served a very large bowl of romaine, barely seasoned ground beef, tomatoes, cheese and black olives with a side of chips & bland salsa. The value for under $8 was ok, but needed more taste. A good dive just to relax is always a welcome place in West County. read more

Went on a Wednesday. Just 2 of us. Went in for dinner about 8:00. There were only a few tables of people. We gave our drink order right away,gave our food order pretty quickly and then thats where it started to go downhill. Tables started to fill up with a few groups and a few more couples. About 15 min after ordering, our waitress asked if we wanted another drink and when she delivered it to us, she apologized for the food delay, told us there was only one cook on Wed. We started noticing that the customers that came in after us were getting their food. The waitress apologized and again said the problem was with the kitchen staff. It was about 40 min after ordering that we told our waitress we had to go. Felt really bad for her since food prep is out of her control, so we tipped her well for the 2 drinks and took off.
