We decided to try this place on our way back from Ft. Pierce. It is an older establishment, but pretty cool. Oddly enough we were in the mood for burgers so I ordered the Black and Bleu burger and my ordered the Patty-melt. I was very pleased with my choice once I bit into this huge delicious burger. I asked for medium cook and it came as ordered. A wonderful hamburger with a delicious bun that compares to any I have had anywhere and I am 67 years old. My wife patty-melt was equally impressive and delicious. Service was excellent and the beer was cheap at happy hour. We plan on going back to try some authentic German food soon. Server could've been a bit more engaging- great place with a nice atmosphere- based on my first experience here with a group of folks from my development down the street Ivan see why they're slow Sun- Thurs- bartenders aren't that nice. We ate dinner with friends here. The food was and always is great. Last night there was an excellent band playing and the restaurant and bar were packed. Our dinner service was excellent but when it started getting crowded it was very difficult to get a drink at the table or at the bar. The staff is very nice but overwhelmed. I rated it 3 stars only because we didn't get to eat during our only visit. This review is only for a heads-up to potential customers and as constructive criticism for the owners. We had a party of seven and had made reservations well in advance of our visit. When we arrived, we were told our reservations weren't going to be honored. They explained that because of a recent positive review in the local newspaper, they were overwhelmed with business. They apologized half-heartedly and said there was nothing they could do. We expected that since they took the reservation in the first place, they would have honored that first, then seat walk-ins after us. Seems like a simple solution and it would have gone a long way to promote good PR and customer satisfaction. The heads-up is for potential customers to expect a long wait to be seated as well as be prepared for dishes that might not be as good as normal due to how rushed and chaotic the kitchen and staff appeared that night. We will go back and give them another chance, but we'll wait until business settles down and they work out the kinks. read more

It's not easy to find a German place that I would go back too. I will definitely give this place a second try if I get back to Jensen Beach. This is a super casual place. It's more of a bar than anything. They have rustic but relaxing outside tables so keep an eye on the weather. The staff did a good job on my visit. I had the German Potato pancakes. The food was somewhat ok: the pork schnitzel was good , the red cabbage passable, Spaetzle good, potato salad was like cold potato soup.But I could hardly swallow because of the shabbiness of the place. Love sitting out back and looking out over the Indian River. The German food is awesome here. German beer selections could be better but not bad. The day to eat here is on Tuesday's. Cute place! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is lovely since they're right in the corner of the intracoastal/St Lucie River by the bridge going over to Hutchinson Island. They have high-tops on a deck by the bar or tables under thatch umbrellas on either side of the restaurant - all with water views. Ordered the beer batter fish & chips and it was delicious. For a little more you can upgrade to mahi, which we did and it was a good choice. It was really busy which meant our poor waitress was totally overwhelmed and we had to wait quite a while for drinks and food but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal. She (our server) was very polite and apologetic for the wait, which always makes it more bearable. In truth, it wasn't her fault at all anyway. That being said, I'd definitely go back sometime. read more

The food was good but we were disappointed that the only German offerings were full lunches and there were only a few to choose from. There was only one German sandwich, a brat and they had crossed it off the menu only brat as we were told the cook had not found the rolls he wants to serve them on. I had to buy more than I wanted to get a taste, which was good, but I really didn't want to buy more than I could eat. My friend got a BLT and she said it was delicious as was the potato salad that she chose as her side. I probably will not return for German Food. read more

We are locals and this restaurant is one of our favorites because their food is spectacular. On the other hand, the service is constantly disappointing. Just an example, called there for take out. No phone service. I'm pretty sure happens when they are too busy to answer the phone and it's happened more and more often. Unacceptable. So, I drive to the restaurant and a server is at the computer/hostessish stand but unwilling to take my order. She responds to my request, "give me a second". After a couple minutes, as she is scooting away from the hostess stand she says "I'm just going to serve a couple beers, she then turns around and says why don't you place your order at the bar." Really? I go to bar and it's stacked full and the bartender won't even look at me. I return to the hostess stand and the server is standing aside stacking napkins. Won't look at me and certainly wasn't planning to take my order. I found someone else. When dining in many times I have seen servers chatting with customers and completely ignoring their duties. Yes there are a few hustlers but even they drop the ball somewhere along the line. I've been caught waiting 20 minutes for a check or change when the place is half full. It'd be nice if the owners would hire more competent help. Thank you though for your great menu and for cleaning up a little better than in the past. The day we went wind was 10-15 knots of the intracoastal ok for drinks outside but not for a meal, so we sat inside no A/C just some fans?? Ordered pork schnitzel which was huge and tasty, brats with sauerkraut good and a burger average. Had two German beers the double bock was very good. Service good food very good. Visited this place today and I was disgusted. The restaurant had no regard for COVID Regulations. None of the waiters were wearing masks (and nobody walking around was either). Tables were spaced about two feet apart. We had to ask three times to have someone wipe off the dirty table we were seated at, and they sort of wiped it off with a dirty old rag. read more

NO AIR CONDITIONING! It was 81° outside today, which means it was too hot for us to sit outside and enjoy the unobstructed view of the river and causeway. The building has no AC, but had fans blowing the humid, hot air around. This saddened me, because I was looking forward to trying this restaurant today. It was so hot, we couldnt even stay for a beer. This is unfortunate, seeing as the summer season is coming up. Brought friends to Hoffman @6pm & ordered drinks then the waiter came back to take our entree orders & appetizers. They ran out of veal schnitzel & also no apple strudel, what a disappointment! We waited for one entire hour & 15 mins, then one guest got his salad then another 10 mins all the entree's came out. The service seemed short handed & terrible. Will not be going back again & will inform friends not to waste their time & money! I could say that the food was good but to wait one hr & 30 mins total to eat is insane! Went there last night for my dads birthday. The food was OUTSTANDING! The portions are HUGE, all four of us took home leftovers. Since it had been raining all day I figured it wouldn't be busy and I was right. Great location right on the water, but not a lot of parking. Beer is very solid. Had the october fest paulaner munchen and it was great. Happy hour for domestic is from 2pm to 6pm. Nice outdoor and indoor seating. Overall a very solid spot to grab a beer in the area. read more

The only thing that disappointed was the potato salad. Not a small thing for a German. The potatoes were way undercooked and the "dressing" was soupy and lacked flavor. My wife had the goulash.
