This store has lots of space and a lot of merchandise! We ended up spending about 45 minutes inside the store. The store offers many options for a variety of souvenirs from the area such as Hollywood themed or California themed including shirts, hats, magnets, key chains, collectibles and numerous other items. This is a good place to browse the merchandise and see the various displays! La La Land is close enough to the Walk of Fame that it can be easily stopped into during your stroll. We ended up buying a few of the awards merchandise and some sanrio items! The store also had some cool Dragon themed merchandise too!

Among the merchandise products, the dolls and small bags were really nice. The prices were higher for obvious reasons. During our second day visit, we got to meet the Hello Kitty around 12:30pm in front of the store. The staff in the store and during character meet up were very friendly.

I found some of the items too touristy for me (you know, when they slap the state of CA on everything lol) so I didn't buy anything. However they did get my attention and I'm sure to return as they have this really amazing sea lion shirt, I was sold on it! As per most gift shops in LA, the items are very pricey. Even if you go to the souvenir stands the prices are just as high. The staff were kinda meh, not very welcoming but not bad. Some of the staff were disengaged as there was many Summer field trips going on. The shops have a strict policy of six students per one chaperone when entering the marketplace. I'm happy they did this as kids are too wild these days. These gift shops are arguably the best and biggest of the Zoo, so if you're going to buy something get it here. It's located towards the front of the zoo, so maybe save your shopping till the end of the day?

My children and I came early to the zoo and decided to go in the shop and buy a spray fan for when the day got hotter. Everything was fine when i bought the item and the cashier was friendly and helpful. But later when we were walking around my son decided to use the fan but it didn't work and it look like it had a crack on the side. So we walked back to return the item and I that is when everything changed. I had to wait a long time for the manager to show up and when she did she did she was not friendly as I tried to explained the issue with the fan. I thought it was because she could not understand what I was saying since she herself had an accent and I could not understand her. So I explained again and even showed my receipt but she still said NO. She even implied that the fan was not broken when it got out the store and that my child probably did it, because supposedly they always check and would not sell anything broken. I was really UNHAPPY and had the RUDEST experience ever. So I love the LA zoo and will continue to go with my children but I will probably not shop in their gift shops for some time until I forget this bad experience.

Super high ceilings, incredibly themed and detailed with decor and small details (pipes to hold plushies?? Genius). I visited during Fan Fest nights and it was a bit more crowded with a decent line but makes sense since the Mario Kart ride feeds into the shop and people were already lingering around after meeting the colorful Yoshis. Despite the line, the workers were very friendly, did their work with a smile, and were efficient. There is A LOT of merchandise here. Of course, there's the classic Mario characters like Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, etc. but you also have some other dedicated areas for other characters like Boo (friend got a cute reversible Boo beret) and other enemies like the Shy Guys and Bomb-Ombs, and characters from other franchises like Pikmin! Super cute. They also apparently have Chef Toad merchandise (a lot of it for the Toadstool Cafe) and I guess he doesn't exist elsewhere in the franchise? Pretty rare and neat. Lots of cute headbands, plushies, clothes, accessories, toys, and I know that since not only is the IP originally Japanese but the fact that the merchandise is the same from USJ makes the design much more cute and pleasing (at least to me). Prices range from reasonable to a bit more hefty (but makes sense if you're getting a giant Yoshi plushie). It brings back that youthful feeling of sitting in front of a small little TV and a Nintendo controller for hours (8 bit all the way!). Everything inside the store was so incredibly cute. The prices are pretty high, what you would expected for a branded store but there are still deals to be found. They had a large variety of items. Some items were geared toward kids while some items were geared towards grown up "kids" like me. Makes sense because I have a grown up "kid" bank account. I ended up at a unique display that had neon items that were all in Japanese writing. The items seems to focus on the "villans" of the games. I settled on a neon retro looking tumbler. It was so cute and well made. Looked like a quality product. I bought it as a birthday gift for another grown up "kid" and she absolutely loved it. Stainless steel on the outside and double insulated. Came with a special straw that the cashier handed to me after I paid. It wasn't too crowded when I went there in the middle of the week so there was plenty of space to casually shot at my leisure. Staff was very friendly but not overly pushy so it was a very relaxing shopping experience. The store definitely looks like it belongs at CityWalk.

One section is hats, ears, and apparel, another one is toys and plushies, lots of small keychains, knick knacks, shoulder buddies, and they have the seasonal items here too, as well as the bonus items if you spend over a certain amount, you can get this item for $25 etc. Kinda deal. Cast members are busy here since it's a super busy shop, but they're always friendly and can always assist. My friend even did trivia here for a pin. Nice!

This card was perfect because my daughter loves polka dots. The store is quaint and charming in a lovely area of Brentwood. Joy was helpful, pleasant, and very sweet. I came just before they closed and they were out of stock. Joy took my number and said she would check if their studio had any in stock. I received a call by 10am the next day stating that the manager picked up my card and that it is in stock. The card and envelope was a very heavy card stock which also made it unique. I will definitely visit Sugar Paper again!

[Selection]: If you are into a black, gold, and light pink color palette, then this shop is for you. There are at least twenty vendors offering clothes, snacks, accessories, ceramics, and more. I also noticed a handful of dog-friendly booths. The crowd was lively, and depending on the booth, space could get a bit tight. Thankfully, there was ample shade so it never felt too warm. I'm not sure if any vendors accepted cash but every vendor I purchased from welcomed credit cards. Since it's an outdoor event, dogs are welcome--just be mindful of the blacktop asphalt. Parking is free from the first two hours and the shops close by are open as well. This event happens semi-annually, and I highly recommend checking it out!
