Home Depot has mastered the art of taking your money and disappearing the second there's a problem. We bought a water heater from them, paid a licensed plumber to install it, and the garbage they sold us turned out to be defective right out of the box. Naturally, we contacted the store expecting them to stand behind the products they profit from. Instead, they immediately hid behind the manufacturer and acted like none of it was their problem. So apparently Home Depot's business model is: Sell defective products, collect the money, dump the customer onto someone else when things fail. Amazing system. Truly. Anyone can make money if they never take responsibility for what they sell. And this wasn't even a one-time experience. Nearly everything we've purchased from this particular store has had issues, defects, or outright failures. Getting anyone there to help is like talking to a wall. No ownership, no urgency, no accountability. Just endless "you'll have to call someone else" nonsense from employees who clearly have been trained to avoid responsibility at all costs. At this point, it feels like Home Depot is less interested in customer service and more interested in being a middleman for defective junk while leaving customers stuck dealing with the consequences. Companies like this wonder why customers stop coming back and why people are abandoning big-box stores. I seem to be having a very bad run with local businesses lately. Not that Home Depot is in any way a "local business" even though this branch is literally walking distance from my home. I had a 33 year old Amana refrigerator that was continuing to chug along but was clearly showing it's age. With the future uncertain I didn't want to risk having a refrigerator conking out on me right when I need it most. So I've been shopping around for a while to find a suitable, reliable, ideally USA-made replacement. First went to a small local retailer. That turned out to be a fiasco. Review on that experience has already been posted. Then I went to Lowes and placed an order that they promptly "lost". Review on that has also been posted. So that brings us to Home Depot. At this point I just wanted to get an order placed, at a competitive price and get the thing delivered. Refrigerators, like cars, are a commodity item. Retailers are all over the place selling the very same item. So the value proposition is who has the best price and the best customer service. Home Depot won on price. Their customer service was a massive fail. The purchasing experience was very painful. I'll spare you the details except to say that trying to give someone your money should NEVER be painful. The delivery was HORRIBLE. Home Depot outsources their deliveries to an outfit that pretty much defies description. They basically dumped the thing in place, plugged it in ans mumbled "thanks" as they raced to get to their next delivery. I spent the next two hours removing tape and packing materials, cleaning the unit, leveling it and so on. MASSIVE FAIL! The fridge itself seems to be fine based on 24 hours of ownership. I still have a very simple question that I can't seem to get answered by Frigidaire or Home Depot.....both of them having customer service that is, to be kind, "disinterested". Both are still quite happy to continue the high pressure "extended warranty" scam pitch. But service after the sale? FuhGeddaBowDIt... I guess the only positive to this story is that at my advanced age, the chances are good that this will be the last refrigerator I ever purchase.... if there is a God in Heaven. I rarely go inside a Home Depot so it's not like this bad experience will in any way further taint my already poor opinion of that box store. I arrived after a search, far and wide, for a harness of milk (milk carton), and was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I desired. I was accompanied by a dear friend of mine, so no assistance from employers was required. I also acquired canned paint to spray on my storage unit. I had a sander rental on the books for over a week and I show up after driving 25 minutes to find out they do not have the sander pads that go with the sander. They have my phone number, they could have called me and let me know. They said I have to go get the sander pads and another Home Depot but shouldn't they call and find out where they are? This Home Depot is bad, even by Home Depot standards. While there with my sister and her husband on a paint buying exhibition I witnessed what were probably the rudest, most impatient and condescending employees I have ever seen. It was so bad that I left my sister and her husband to their own devices to help a group of older women which some employee had basically ghosted. They were clearly frustrated and I have a feeling that the way they were treated was in no small part related to the color of their skin. It didn't take long to explain the essentials needed to paint a wall; stir stick, semi gloss, roller/brush, drop cloth, tape and a paint key. The employee I witnessed dealing with them could only be bothered to throw a cheap brush in their cart as he walked past them, saying that was all they needed. He should be fired for the way he treated them and the location should pray they don't find themselves facing a discrimination lawsuit. When I found my sister she was dealing with her own tool of an employee. I walked up she was considering semigloss vs satin finishes and the creepy AF employee says to her, "Are you married?" Like what the hell? Does she need her man to help her make a decision, or are you just hitting on her? I abruptly asked him what difference did it make, and he scowled and mumbled something under his breath. Sensitively training. Diversity training. How to be a basic human being. These are all classes that the employees of this store could benefit from. read more

We were there about three weeks ago and we were looking at fake Christmas trees. They had a good selection, but of course the one we wanted was the only one, and it was out on display. Kim, the customer experience manager, helped us and said that she would check to find out if the floor model could be sold. I was surprised to get a call a couple of days later to say yes we could take it home. I really didn't expect to get that phone call. It's a beautiful tree. Popped in here to pick up an online order. I had to use the locker system (new to me) and Tessa at the customer service desk was so kind and helped me out. I never have a problem coming here. A few years ago my son got hurt at this location (he was okay!) and Home Depot went above and beyond for my family then and so I always come back to this location and they never disappoint. Over the past months employees from different departments have been the best helpers, even if they are unsure ( or new) we figure it out together. When I had an issue with water leakage with my new Milgard windows, he reached out to Milgard to expedite my request and even followed up a day or two later to make sure they reached out to me to address my concerns. Customer service at this location is lacking. As I wonder the aisles clearly in search of something but with no clue as to it's location, none of the service staff offer assistance. Based on my experience with many Home Depot's, this is unusual. Typically, I am approached several times while doing my shopping, even when I don't appear to be lost! Now that I live on the west side, I've visited this location several times and always have the same experience in regards to customer service. No greetings. No offer of assistance. No "can I take this to your car?" When I go to the service desk, and no other customers are there, I have to interrupt the chatter to ask for help. That being said, this location is always packed! The parking lot is a nightmare. No fault to Home Depot, but the clientele are super aggressive when driving the lot seeking parking. Always feels like it's 4pm the day before Christmas at a mall! What's up with that? When I need something and have time constraints, I come here. When I need real assistance like advice on a home project, I head to the Home Depot down by Cascade Station. They had a nice selection of plants at decent prices. I was able to find just what I wanted. This Beaverton Home Depot sells appliances, hardware and tools, building materials, plants and outdoor furniture. There is plenty of parking available and their store hours are convenient. They're open 6am to 10pm everyday except on Sunday when they're open 7am to 8pm. Employees range from friendly and knowledgeable to bored and indifferent. read more

Customer service lady was so rude. She's an older lady, don't know why she's working in customer service if she's going to be having an attitude. We were sent from Hillsboro Home Depot for a Christmas tree they told us was in stock at Beaverton location. Once we arrived to the Beaverton store we kindly asked the lady if they had the tree. She then goes on with an attitude telling us we should've called ahead. Thankfully another gentleman helped us locate the tree we came for. Don't know what that lady's deal was. Today, I was looking for some thing that stopped three different staff members. Even the customer service in front was not able to direct me. So I was considering heading to ace hardware when I ran into Cliff, who walked with me to the new location of the items and, they are they were. I came to Home Depot because I'm remodeling my bathroom. I parked next to the cart return. There was no sign indicating NO Parking. There was another car parked in front of me. the lot attendant proceeded to tell me I can't park there and I need to move my car. I pointed out that there is no signage indicating NO parking. ( I also have a baby so it's not easy to just get in the car and move it). I also mentioned the other car that was parked there. He said he couldn't help it because they parked before he got there. I told him again, there is no sign and there is others cars parked there so I was not moving mine. I went in and proceeded to shop and a few minutes later there is a page over the intercom to move my car. In all my years, I could not believe the lot attendant was making such a stink. Honestly seems like he targeted me because I am a woman and when I didn't obey he wanted to reprimand me. I spoke with the manager Erin who was very kind and she apologized. She explained this is an on-going issue because they like to put there big carts there. She aplogized that things escalated and that they need to put a sign up. The lot attendant could use a lesson in customer service. The manager on duty Erin was nice enough apologizing. Home Depot: do better. read more

You know what.... I love Home Depot. There, I said it... I tried to switch to other places but I just can't. What do you pay your folks to be so nice?!? Even the "worst" employee I even encountered there was nice - seriously, the guy was just a touch stoic like he was tired and that was the only even remotely bad thing. I have been given slightly wrong info before but the person was still super friendly - employees go out of their way to help! I remodeled my entire house about 15 years ago and when you do that you get to know everyone there by name at probably three stores (since between two different locations you will get the cabinet handles you need etc. I also love their products - they really do have a nice balance so you can grab the high end, low end or something about in between those...OPTIONS! I love having options. I also love plants and they usually have a pretty great, and well cared for selection! I am a bit sad that they no longer carry flagstone. I loved that I could just buy one at a time and DID. I do still grab river and pond rock from them - good sized bag for $5... such a great price and the bag gives you a good amount but not over the top. If you need a lot...grab another bag, seriously. Also, back when I remodeled I did use a lot of their services. I bought all my tile there for two bathrooms and a kitchen that we did ourselves. We installed it ourselves but we went through a person to help us design and order our customer Kraftmaid kitchen. We also got custom countertops through them which they installed brilliantly and fast because that I was not going to mess with. We also got all our appliances through Home Depot and paid the extra to have our fridge and microwave installed which I highly recommend...think about it... Seriously if you get the microwave having something else who is a pro mounting and leveling that into your cabinet section - worth every penny. Also, the fridge with all the bells and whistles - it involves pipes! Again, worth every penny - they even took away all the bags and cardboard etc! Again, worth every penny. Either way they have got you though. We found a nice cost effective balance doing a lot on our own but paying out some bucks for certain things which you just want a professional to do. But if you want to do things yourself or get advice - they've got you. read more

Service was good but I have to be 18 to buy paint? Couldn't do my senior parking lot. Acting like I'm buying alcohol

I placed an online order for curbside service. When I arrived to pick it up, I waited more than half an hour without ever having the order brought out. I tried to reach the store by phone, but couldn't get a live person. I finally left, without my order. I tried again today to pick it up. Before driving in from my home an hour away, I called to be sure it was ready. It took 4p minutes on hold to speak to someone, but I was assured it was ready. When I arrived, after 15 minutes of waiting I went into the store to ask about it. I was told someone would bring it out immediately. About 5 minutes later a store employee named Josh ambled out slowly, playing on his phone. I asked him about my order and went back for it. When he finally brought it out, he threw the bags of mulch haphazardly into the back of my car rather than neatly stacking them as I had asked. As a result, they did not all fit. He said it was impossible, and seemed incredulous that I had asked him to take out the 5 bags he had already put in to start over. With a huff, he did, but continued stacking haphazardly. He said "show me," so in my dress and heels I demonstrated how it worked. Even after that, he couldn't do it. All in all, it took more than 1 1/2 hours of my time for the "convenience" of Home Depot's so-called customer service. Two thumbs down. read more

When we showed Lowe's had the item cheaper the staff manager (with the coffee red cup art on his apron) rudely shook his head and Said "nope". If they don't do that they shouldn't advertise it online and claim Low Price guaranteed. The staff member should have communicated with the paying customer better. The short version: I bought window blinds. Good ordering process, poor installation handling, and awful warranty support. I won't order from Home Depot again. The long version: In 2018 I ordered a set of window blinds from this South Beaverton location. The process of taking the order went pretty smoothly, and the fellow was helpful and friendly. It took a few weeks for the order to be handled by the manufacturer and drop-ship to the installer, Prestige. The installation went smoothly until the installer (who had done the measuring) realized that the largest blind size was incorrect, and needed to repeat the process for a correct size. Finally, after quite a while, all the blinds were installed. Around a year after installation, we were raising the largest of the blinds, and the cord snapped off within the blinds. I confirmed from the documentation that cords were covered under a 5-year warranty and called Home Depot. They said they would contact the manufacturer and get back to me. A day later, they called and said the manufacturer wouldn't cover it unfortunately, and they felt really badly about that. They gave me the manufacturer PO # and basically dumped the problem on me. I won't make any similar orders from Home Depot anymore, especially at several thousand dollars with such low quality service. read more

I ordered a delivery of mulch on the app. It said on the app it would be delivered earliest in 2 days, I wasn't going to be around so I scheduled the delivery for 5 days from the order. All good, right? I get a confirmation email the day before saying the delivery window was between 6am and 8 PM (14 hour delivery window?). I get a call the morning of delivery saying that whoops we can't deliver the mulch because we don't have a truck and the best we can do is deliver it in 3 days. No service recovery, no discount. I call and say it's a huge inconvenience is there any service recovery you can offer? The guy goes "uh, I dunno." I just told them to cancel my order. Also getting a human being on the phone with their automated service is the absolute worst. I'm never shopping at Home Depot again. read more

I am a HUGE fan of HD over that other big home improvement store. Hey, what can I say, I'm partial to Homer. I LOVE that they have the monthly FREE kids classes, and do FREE kids birthday parties there. AND FREE workshops for really anyone. I attended a woman's workshop and loved it. The totes I bought didn't have the proper kids on as the signs were misleading and some of the totes do not even have stickers for the cashier to scan properly. Cashier, floor associates as well as the floor manager weren't a big help at all. Was asked to go to NW Science Park store to get the lids at the customer service department and everyone at the NW Science Park store do not have a clue what I was talking about and I have to explain everything again. I was so mad that I demanded to talk to someone higher than Francisco, the floor manger because I was getting the run around. Josh answered the call, apologized and told me that he will retrain the cashier and other people involved. He offered to replace and deliver the new totes. Does anyone else like the smell of wood? Anyway, I don't normally go to Home Depot but it brings back memories when I was a kid going to weekend workshops where you would build an item... Anyway I digress, my dad needed a part for a pipe and the first thing I smelled was the wood, then the breeze of the AC. Also, who knew there were so many pipe parts and pieces. We were helped by an employee but he had some trouble so called in an expert employee, and he was very helpful in terms of which part to get and tips too. Everything successfully worked and all the employees we encountered from the ones who helped us to the check out employee were very nice. Extremely disappointed. I had carpet installed in November within a couple weeks I had noticed several areas not tacked down, cut too big or cut too small. I scheduled 5 separate appointments for them to come back out and fix the issues only to have them not show up. I'd get a confirmation text in the morning that they were coming and then they'd just not show. Here I am 6 months later, still nothing is fixed and Home Depot is saying they won't fix what was installed incorrectly unless I pay for it. So you made me pay $4,000+, did an extremely poor job and won't fix your mistakes. read more

Where, oh where, is my shelf?? So I come into the store and head to the Customer Service Desk. Only because, I am so awesome! And because on their app says to purchase what you and they'll either send a text, email or both to tell you when it's ready to pick it up. Ta-dah! It's ready and all paid for!! She takes my order number and says that she is trying to locate it. Ok, I step back and wait awhile and after a good 15 minutes I finally go back to her and ask uh, is there something wrong? Can I just get it off the shelf? She says she's trying to locate it and it's already pulled. She finally calls in back and lo and behold, there it is, but says that there is no tag on it so it was just sitting back there. Really?? She finishes my transaction and says to wait by Aisle 17 because it should be coming from there. I wait another 10 minutes, patiently, and finally go up to see her and say, these 3 products, is that my order? Will they be bringing my 3rd? She then calls again and they tell her that they are getting the 3rd because it was too heavy to put the 3 on one gurney. Got it! But it'd be nice to be informed and BTW I was still waiting at Aisle 17. Good thing I came down to check. I finally get all 3 and they help me put it into my car. It's very hard to find assistance here. You have to chase someone down and they even pretend not to see you. I was alone and on a rack higher than my head in the lumber are I was trying to take down treated boards 12 foot by 8 by 2. Not easy. I struggled as 2 associates leasurly came down the isle. I moved 3 boards down. Then heard them joke about me as they slowly approached me. Then one goes maybe you should help her and the other took off. REALLY??? I had a bruise on my collar bone for a week for moving those damn boards plus a sore back. Asked for wood brought down from over 8 feet off the ground on a weekend at 1or 2 pm and they didn't know how cause no one was on the floor that could drive a forklift. Yeah. read more

We went looking for a grill and got terrific service from a young man named Calvin. We were not really ready to buy, but a combination of Calvin's service and an offer of free delivery and assembly, plus next day delivery convinced us. We bought an expensive grill. From there on it was all downhill. Next day delivery was between 6am and 8pm, and we all know how abysmal such large delivery windows are. Worse...they never turned up. I sat waiting all day, skipping the rest of my family going to see friends, even my exercise because they could arrive at any moment. I was signed up for alerts and they just said I'd get it today. There was no email or text to say the delivery was cancelled, they just didn't turn up. I called to find out why and after being on hold a while they told me I was calling the wrong store... even though I was calling the number they told me to call. Okay, so I call another store, sit on hold, get told no, the original number was the right one and I'd been made to repeat the nonsense for no reason. I eventually find out that not only did they cancel my delivery without telling me...they postponed it to 9 days later. Nine frigging days later because someone on their end screwed up and picked the wrong kind of truck to book and that seems to be against Home Depot's religion or something. Nine days later...and they didn't bother to tell me. So I call the original store where I bought the thing and ask to speak to a manager. They put me on hold for ten frigging minutes. Ten minute hold when a customer is already unhappy...and then no manager. I get routed back to the end of the line and asked what I'm calling about again. I figure it's time to give up on this lot. Their motto seems to be give good service until the sale and then all bets are off. The only reason this is a 2 star review and not a 1 star review is because Calvin was terrific. Can anyone at the Home Depot give me a reason not to get my money back and go buy this grill somewhere else? Edit: I tried every day to reach a manager. No luck. They never tried to get ahold of me to tell me officially that my delivery is delayed. I decide to get my money back over the weekend, but before I do, four days later I hear from them on Saturday afternoon that they are delivering my grill on Sunday before 11am. I decide to give them one more chance. We stay around home on Sunday morning, but they are a no show yet again. After 11am I get a call that they will be here Sunday afternoon instead. No time estimate, just another open ended "afternoon" that might never happen. I have to once again stay home while my family go out to visit friends. Amazingly they call first and deliver early afternoon, just 3 hours late for today's window and 5 days later overall. You should also understand that the grill gets delivered to your driveway, not to your garden... something about liability issues. You will likely need help getting it around back. You have to hand it to Home Depot, they really put an immense amount of effort into delivering the worst possible post-sales service. So much bad service and yet somehow it never cost them the sale. They've made bad service an art form. read more

I just went to spend around 400-650$ in a grill and then asked for help. The customer service dude, deadlocks and had an issue with his left eye said, "sorry my guy no one comes in til 1030". Dude called me my guy while working and then just lets an easy sale walk out. I don't need a confrontation nor some pity discount so no need for a manager.
