Lack of knowledge is typical by staffs at Home Depot which is understandable. When you talk about a lazy staff, holy crap. Tried buying a chain link at a certain length. 2 ladies working in hardware stating that their busy with a customer while they're actually stocking shelves. Cut the chain myself and tried to pay but then the cashier stated I needed a verified length from the staff. I then go back to one of the busy ladies who is stocking then she tells me to ask another lady who works in hardware who is also stocking. The 2nd lady stocking actually tells me she's sending someone over which would have been the 1st lady from before. Finally going back to the cashier telling my situation, she told me to walk up to the first person I asked in the first place. For a second I thought I was on candid camera but thought no, its just typical Home Depot service especially in the Bronx. I went to buy a quick connect coupling for filter water hose. I bought them at the same home depot location before so I knew the general section it was in. When I asked an employee for help, he took a quick glance at the section and informed me that they do not carry the size I was looking for then he walked off. I was puzzled since I purchased the same item a couple of times in last two years. I searched on my own for another half a minute and I found the coupling piece I was looking for - the couplings weren't organized in size order, so it took a while. However, the employee should have just said that he's not sure if he's not sure, instead of definitively stating Home Depot does not carry a particular product I've been buying for years. Looking at reviews online is seems HD is a shitty company all around. And corporate heads don't do anything about it . But I will still write this review because I extremely fed up . 1- employees are not trained and don't seem to know anything about nothing. They don't provide this. What they do provide the "pointing system " when asked where something is.most employees I encounter are not willing to talk and are more concerned with stocking then actually getting products off the shelves (customer buying ) I went there yesterday to get a bit that will take out a broken screw. The guy that "helped" me was very dismissive. He suggested something for a stripped screw NOT a broken on. I told him how will it it remove it if the top part of the screw is broken . So the bit can't attach to it , he told me that it will work . I left the item because clearly it wasn't . I think asked him about a bit to remove the screws of the cover for my home security camera . It's like a weird bit .. he went and grabbed me a set.. I even showed him a picture of the bit .. and when I wake up this morning it's not even close to what I need.. now I have to go back and my project will have to wait till next weekend as I can't go now . There are people that don't like their jobs I get it.. but if homedepot knew how they have badly trained employees I would hope they would fix it . I had an amazing experience here, especially compared to the many subpar shopping trips I've had to Home Depot in the past few months. My boyfriend and I went in crazy about a Behr paint color we'd fallen in love with online the night before, and also looking for color inspiration for our entryway. To our dismay, we couldn't find the coveted color anywhere in the Behr racks. Understandably dejected, we appealed to the young woman at the paint counter. She was magical: looked up the color for us, showed us some swatches that came close, and asked us if we wanted her to mix the color from the website (YES!). She then told us to take our time choosing our second color, after which she happily mixed our paint, gave us advice, and reminded us to pick up some mixing sticks. She was incredibly competent, efficient, and friendly. A much better experience than the last time I went into HD for paint and waited fifteen minutes before they could even locate an employee who knew how to mix paint. read more

Hello! We have had a nightmare experience with Home Depot in the Bronx. We were told that they would install free of charge the stacking dryer, on our older matching washing machine, that we bought from them when they delivered. Yet when the delivery people arrived they claimed (in sharp contrast to what we were told on the phone) they do not install a new stacked dryer on an older matching machine. And now Home Depot will neither take the new dryer back nor help us to install it. We have been on the phone with many many people who give us very different stories, and yet the end result is that Home Depot will not install nor all us to return the new dryer. The associate Ken in flooring was very rude, condescending and disrespectful. He just got off the phone and I said excuse me and asked him a question. Not sure if he was upset about the phone call. But he continued to be rude and spoke down to me. I addressed that I did not appreciate how I was spoken to. All i did was ask questions. I have never encountered someone like this at this Home Depot. Usually everyone is so pleasant. He repeatedly told me that there was no way we could get any of the flooring down that I wanted because they did not have a driver for the lifts. But when a manager was called and I informed him that I would need 12 cases, all of a sudden someone was able to drive the lifts? I was clearly irritated and just wanted to distract myself with my phone before it escalated further. He then said go ahead mam, my name is Ken take a picture. I was like are you kidding me? Because I am on my phone and yes clearly irritated, you are accusing me of taking a picture of you?! I too work in service, a nurse at that in the ED and I get cursed at everyday! I do not ever speak to any of my patients/customers this way! I tried to just calm myself down and this associate is accusing me of taking pictures of him. I told him he was down right disrespectful. All I need are the 12 cases of flooring i need! Lets be done with it and let me get out of here! Completely uncalled for! Only reviewing the Garden Center, I have not shopped the rest of this location. I went here for two things recently: 1. My grandmother was gifted a plant that died and she was looking to replace it with the exact same type of plant. 2. I was given some wooden boxes that I wanted to try and re-use as planters. My plan was to ask someone here for guidance on what to plant. After parking, I walked to the Garden Center and there were no employees there. So, I walked inside to customer service. I showed the gentleman at the counter the note given to me by my grandmother with the name of the plant on it and asked if they carried it. His response, "How am I supposed to know that?". I have worked retail before and knew that even though I didn't have a UPC code, the name of the plant was certainly searchable. Rather than do that he pointed me in the direction of a woman at a computer talking to her (non-employee) friend. I asked her the same question I asked customer service, and she politely told me that she didn't recognize the name, but that if they carried the plant its seeds would be in the aisles nearby. They don't carry what I was looking for. I didn't bother asking anyone about my second issue because I realized what I was up against. read more

My Husband and I went shopping for and purchased Vertical Blinds from this location. The sales associate Shantiera assisted us with picking out blinds by showing us the many different styles and colors of blinds available. She also explained the custom feature which helped us out a lot due to the massive size of our window. The trouble didn't start until it was time to schedule for the measurements of our window. Even though we knew what we wanted we had to come back to the store and tell them again because nothing could be ordered until the measurements were taken. It was quite annoying waiting for the measurements to show up on their system many days after the installer had done the measurements. There was also a long wait for the delivery and once the blinds finally came the people that Home Depot had hired to deliver the blinds refused to carry them upstairs to our apartment and had an attitude with me when I refused to except them. Then when Home Depot was able to get delivery men willing to bring our blinds up to the apartment we called to have the installer come and install them. He cancels on us the same day and time that he is to show up. I'd already moved all of my furniture away from the window and then I had to move it all back. If you need any type of blinds or window treatments I would not recommend coming to this location or Home Depot in general. It's like once they have your money they don't care what happens after that. It's one big unorganized waiting game! I was at this location last weekend, and while I found what I was looking for the customer service left much to be desired. Each staff member I approached with a question was seemingly bothered by my gall to even ask for assistance. All my questions were replied with snarky sarcasm. This review is only about my experience at the tool rental area. When I came to pick up the tool, the guy was great, very helpful, fairly patient with my questions, but sold me an incomplete box of staples with my flooring stapler. When I came to return the tool 4 hours later, a different guy was behind the counter. Didn't look at me, barely talked to me - to say where to sign and how much the total cost was. This is the closest Home Depot to me that has tool rental. The tool was great and the rental price was very affordable but I wish the employees were BETTER! read more

I really want to give this place more stars but I just can't. Why is it that a business that generates so much money. This place always has customers no matter what time I get here, but they can never have enough staff. I have been waiting for over half an hour just to place an order for paint. They only have one person taking orders, making paint, and answering peoples questions. After I waited to place order I had to wait for paint to be made. It's a Home Depot, but it's the most accessible by car (i.e. closest with free parking) of the HDs in the area. As reported by one of the reviewers, availability / stocking can be an issue. Most prices are not that different from the Manhattan store. Depending on what you're looking for, there may be more floor samples here or in Manhattan. Besides some routine purchases, I used them for blind installations for my apartment, and I was extremely satisfied. It took a little while to find an associate at times (they don't sit at the desk), but all in all, they were very helpful. The custom-made blinds took only 3-4 days to arrive (estimate was 1-2 weeks+). They contract out their installation, I had a guy name Scotty Dumas, and he was great from beginning to end. read more

They typically have the same employees at returns. These same 3 woman doing returns and one is worst then the next. I'm still not sure how either of these two particular older woman even are still employees, I'm not sure of their names because i I believe they purposely do not want their names slandered to the big headed power trip managers. or reported to anyone higher then her, and she is the lowest of the low. There is the older white woman in her 60's who honestly has rocks for brains. She's so loud and when something, let's say, can not be returned or an item doesn't show up in the system the entire line of 15 customers behind you hear her basically embarrass you. She degrades you and is extremely rude. I truly believe she thinks we wrote the home depots return policy and should know all the policy's minor yet at their own discretion clauses. Next, is the black woman in her 60's. Don't bother even greeting her cause you not get one back, all she says is "give me your receipts" with an annoyed look on her face and huffs and puffs. She goes by the beat of her own drum. One day she will return an item with no issue and the next day you could return the same item you purchased to many of and she will without hesitation deny the return. She has to be one of the least friendly, and nastiest and most miserable employee in any store I ever came across. She will make comments about you or what your returning under her breath, as well as, her believing she's the CEO of Home Depot and can talk and treat you any way she feels fit. How she is still an employee is beyond my comprehension. No one likes her, we avoid her at all costs in aiding us with returns. But, don't worry if you call a manager over hopefully you get the other black lady and only woman manager. She is on some power trip and thinks she gods gift to that Home Depot. If you ever want to learn how NOT to be a good manager learn from her. She is not friendly, not a problem solver, and has not an ounce of management skills, and communication skills with customers, learn from her if you want your life to miserable. Ask her a question, any question, she will answer you in limited 2-5 words with her ridiculous uneducated stance and turns her head when she's done talking, even if noting was solved or an answer was established. This is why certain people should not be allowed to have managerial positions, because they think they have more power then you (reality check your a HD manager not the president of the company) No one cares who you are and your a joke to the customers being a manager at Home Depot isn't something I would be so proud of. She actually believes she is in such a queen of HD like position but reality is she not even a step higher then the manager at the dollar tree or 7/11. I would imagine, you three rude and miserable living woman would look a lot better on the unemployment line then with an orange apron. This is by far the worst Home Depot that I have ever visited, that's not to say that the others have been EXCEPTIONAL however they have been a notch better in servicing their customer. from the moment you enter this store you will certainly notice that there is a lack of attention that is given to the EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have had numerous issues with this store that could have been easily resolved however each and every time that I have approached the staff looking for help with my problem they make you feel like an IDIOT and that I should have known better this is not limited to the associates, this attitude towards customer service is indicative at most levels of management. On my most recent purchase I was looking at several sheds that are positioned in the front entrance of the store, there were several models to choose from and I decided on a model that was displayed in a 10' X 8' size, I asked an associate if it was in stock he replied yes and brought me to the model, BTW the display model was incorrectly tagged- I then purchased this struggled to get it home since it weighed a ton in addition purchased water treated wood in order to build a platform which took me about 2 hours to build. I then open the box only to discover that the shed on display was not the one in the box apparently this model is displayed in a smaller version in front of the store AND THE ASSOCIATE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT AS WELL ( YOU THINK THAT THERE WOULD BE A SIGN STATING " NOT ACTUAL SIZE") anyhow after wasting 2 hours build the platform I returned to the store and was told by the Asst, Store Mgr Hakeem that there was nothing he could do I would need to speak with the Store Mgr Psylene the following day- I explained to him that I had just spent two hours building a platform for a shed that was displayed incorrectly and he told me that " I assumed incorrectly" when looking at the shed! ( WOW!! WHATEVER HAPPEN TO " THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT') I then had no choice but to wait until the following day to speak with the Store Manager. Next day I spoke with the store mgr who immediately displayed a very defensive attitude towards my problem and some how could not see how I was just looking for some empathy and help with my situation which was caused by her store nevertheless I was told by Psylene that there was nothing she could do other then direct me to a website that could sell me a shed. THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS HOPING TO HEAR YET EXPECTED TO HERE, this is why I stated that the lack of customer service begins at the top in this store, if your Management team does not set the standard your associates will not as well. So I am now left with a platform that was built, 2 hours of labor, 6 trips to Home Depot and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED!!!! Are we not in a recession?? shouldn't retailer's value there customers ?? The road to exceptional CUSTOMER SERVICE is traveled with INTEGRITY, RESPECT and PROFESSIONALISM, customers don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!!! I would strongly recommend that you avoid this Home Depot, visit co-op instead your service will be a bit better or jump in your car and visit your nearest LOWES. Home Depot sold me a dishwasher that included installation. Now they are telling me that it does not have to install the dishwasher. A manager for Home Depot, Hernan Grijalba, explains that there "is a glitch in the software" that allowed this to happened. I, in turn, have explained to Home Depot that it is legally obligated to install the dishwater since I have purchased the installation from it, and it already has taken my money. Home Depot has been very difficult to contact about this issue, and it does not return phone calls. read more
