Very disappointed with Home Depot. I ordered two Milwaukee tool sets that clearly included saws, batteries, and chargers -- but received only bare tools with no accessories. I wasted my time visiting the store trying to fix THEIR mistake, and they still didn't issue a refund on the spot. Now I have to wait for UPS to pick it up tomorrow. This is unacceptable for such a big company. I deserve compensation or at least a gift card for the wasted time and effort. read more

While the lines can get long here, they go by fast. I find the workers to be helpful every time I come (I often try to do pick up which is the fastest) but this time I walked in and while the line looked scary, it went by in 10mins tops so it all worked out. Im currently moving because, well rent is out if this world expensive now. And I'm in a studio ApT. IM EXTREMELY STRESSED AND FULL OF ANXIETY. Because all things are on my shoulders. I rate this location a 4 out of 5 because The gentleman that helped me made my experience there great! He was soo soo patient with me and my 1,000's of questions. Not to mention the weather was just at 80 degrees. I'm over everything. But! He took his time to get my bin. & a non available bin lid from thin air. He also went to the top of the shelf and even price checked them for me. It was a whole process. I'm grateful. Customer service is lacking in the city. Karen movement aside. After being helped and being tended to I make my way to the cashier, where I was made aware that "YOU GUYS DON'T DO APPLE PAY" lol not a big deal. I gasped and clutched my imaginary pearls. Two STARS to electrical department after I found 4 employees hiding in the way back corner just BS-ing, I managed to interrupt their chat and ask for help with a smoke detector, and turns out it was the wrong one when I got home. 1,000,000 STARS go to Steven in flooring. He should not only be the store trainer, but also a manager. His personality is so amazing, I love just walking by his department, and hearing his voice echo when he says hello. I am not the only person he is this nice to. Steven treats all customers with kindness, professionally, and wants to help. Other departments just pass you on, ignore or hide. Many get paid to come to work and hang out. Employees must know that if you keep busy and have fun with customers the time goes by faster. You waste more energy finding a way to hide or be lazy. DISGUSTED WITH DELIVERY SERVICE!!!! I originally came in on May 21 in the afternoon and put in an order for a Nexgrill Charcoal grill and was informed by the person who put my order in at the PRO SALES area that my grill would be delivered to my home no later than May 23 and that it would arrive between 6am to 8pm. I left two phone numbers to be contacted at in case of emergencies. 2 days later and no grill, no phone call, nothing. Thanks for ruining my memorial day weekend Home Depot!!!! Update: On a positive note after going back to the store and speaking with the manager Delio at 10 am he was able to have my grill delivered to me within 2 hours. Good job Delio!!! read more

Update: Jan 2020 - Always find the customer service at this location super helpful. Today a gentleman called Alok Joshi in the appliances dept was very patient and helpful in guiding us through our over the range microwave selection process. As it turned out, HD doesn't carry the Whirlpool model we wanted - which was such a pity as we really wanted him to get credit for a sale! Walked in today looking for an obscure part for my bathroom vanity & was helped by Chris in the lighting department. Because that vanity model is no longer available, she came up with the unique suggestion of using a washer in the plumbing area and using a special epoxy glue to attach it to the shade. Not sure if it will work but was super impressed with her ingenuity & thinking out of the box approach to the problem. read more

I had a problem with a delivery being late--it was the courier company's fault--and Chasity at your location was incredibly helpful on the phone. She tracked down the courier, called me back with information regarding the status of my delivery, and was able to process a refund for the 4-hour delivery window charge. At first she said I'd have to come into the store; when I said that wasn't possible, she figured out a way to have a check mailed to me. If you need to come to this particular location, it's best to come as early as possible as it tends to get crowded and a little...rough. The staff here is a bit immature and inexperienced but if you're self-reliant and know exactly what you need, this shouldn't be a problem. For me, I don't particularly care for this area and would only come if I absolutely had to - no shade ...but having a bunch of guys around you yelling TAXI TAXI TAXIIII ...is a bit horrifying...LOL. I've been going to this Home Depot recently as its closer to my job making it easy for me to go into the city early and pick stuff up. I usually stop by this Home Depot around 9am-10am during the week. Seems to be the sweet spot as no one is here during that time and I am in and out. I read a lot of people comment on poor customer service however I have at least two employees ask if I need assistance. I tend to be the opposite in I like when they leave me alone as I generally know what I'm coming in for. 4-stars as it's not as fully stocked as others I've shopped. Ordered online, supposedly from the W 23rd St location. Ordered delivery at a ridiculous cost of $35 because I cannot go to the store. Delivery was scheduled for today - with a 14-hour window of 6am - 8pm. Ridiculous for a $35 delivery fee for a lightweight item. The delivery status window says "outside delivery", so I began to wonder if they were going to (stupidly) leave it outside the building without notifying me. Silly me. That was the least of my problems. A. 8 PM came and went and no delivery. B. After multiple phone calls (and much wasted time), I find out that my order was fulfilled by the Bronx location. C. Although it was still an hour before the Bronx location was to close, no one was answering the phone. I know. I stayed on hold for 17 min and 46 seconds before giving up. I even had the 800 rep call the store. They didn't answer for her, either. D. I called Select Express, Home Depot's courier delivery service, only to find out they never even picked up the item from the store - or bothered to tell anyone. E. You bet your bippy I'm an unhappy customer. There's just no excuse. Then I came here to read about the service at this Bronx location. It is both astounding and shameful how long these problems have been going on. That tells me that the person at the top DOES NOT CARE and SHOULD BE FIRED. read more

Where to begin, stock issues, misplaced sloppy inventory, opened boxes, untrained staff.... From beginning to checkout you'll find the experience a nightmare. To make matters worse you pay for parking in a dark dungeon which is also a public toilet, you never get a wifi connection and you're wireless service won't work either. Okay so like all of my experiences on 149th the things start in a good place only to go dark quickly. So I have only had the glory of dealing with their paint department so my opinions are regulated to thoses experiences alone. So seeing has I painted my whole apartment I had to visit a few times and though I have gone at different times of the day this department is always very busy and overwhelmed and I have been early in the morning. Additional the staff seems always annoyed and distracted and offhandish when asked questions regarding the department. They run out of supplies often and no reassurance given regarding restocking. My preference though occasionally inconvenient is the Lexington Ave store and thus far has appeared to be the bar in terms of customer service and inventory access. And full disclosure I have gone to the Gunhill location once an hour before close on a speed round shop and my interaction was slightly better than 149th but not Lexington Ave. read more

Worse customer service ever waited a whole hour and 50 mins to ask about three items and was told I was being transferred to someone that could help me 5 time each time the workers more clueless then the one before. The 6th and last time was told I was being put on with someone that was finally suppose to help me and instead was hung up on. 4/26/19 I went in to get get a few boxes and some tape I stood in line for 10 minutes while the cashier went back and fourth assisting a customer which I'm not upset about they actually give u the service u deserve so it wasn't a bad wait and this time after I paid for my boxes someone tied the boxes up for me. The last time I was there I received no help with my boxes had no idea how to tie them up so I did it my way and rolled the staff how lazy they were how I asked for help and they stood around talking amongst each other not assisting me while telling me someone was coming to help, so I really appreciated this small gesture. read more

Multiple aisles and sections were closed off by gates on both sides for no reason, so you could not walk through the aisles to look at and select merchandise. The entire aisles of paint in cans was closed off (both sides), there was no flooding, or restocking going on to justify this. The closed aisles made it difficult and time consuming to navigate the store. I had to walk 5 aisles over to access the front of store so I could check out. I have been to multiple NYC Home Depots and have never seen anything like this. The location on Northern Blvd is the best large size location in the NYC area. If you need access to certain items, call them and ask if the aisle is closed off by gates, I wish I had just stayed home and ordered online, it was very hot and stuffy in there, a nightmare to shop this place because of all the gates and closed sections. read more

I stopped in on a Friday night thinking I would have the store to myself. Because people have plans on Fridays. I was wrong. The line was insane, I couldn't find help for 40 minutes. I ended up downloading the app and figured shit out to the best of my abilities but my abilities are a joke, compared to what I think I can do after watching property brothers. I'm sure this post is going to get a bunch of "okay Karen" comments but I really don't care. I have been in the process of ordering doors, having them installed and delivered for 6 months. It has been an absolutely awful experience. I had an instal scheduled for 2/6/2021. The installation tech came out to do the measurements and only measured one of my two doors. I asked him why he couldn't measure the second door and he said there was no hinges on the door and he won't do an install if there are no hinges. I asked to please measure anyway so I can at least have the measurements in the system thinking maybe the store could suggest something. He still refused. I went into the store on 2/13/21 and spent about an hour trying to find someone to help me. When I finally got someone willing to do their job I was informed that on the second door that the service tech refused to measure could support a BI-fold door but because there were no measurements in the system I would need the tech to come out again. The associate helped me schedule this appointment and helped me order door number one which was supposed to be delivered. The second measurement couldn't take place until March 13th. After the second measurement occurred I went back into the store on March 20th and it took me over 2 hours to get the door ordered again because I had to run around the store and flag someone down to help me. I kept getting passed around from person to person until I finally got a hold of a manager. I got my second door ordered and asked if I could have both doors delivered at the same time. The manager assured me this wouldn't be a problem and that they could hold door one until the second door was ready. Anyways today (May 31st) I get a voicemail from an associate stating that both doors are ready to be delivered. Before I could call her back I got a call from a different associate to schedule my delivery. I arranged to have delivery occur on June 11th. I thought everything was fine but of course it wasn't. At 5:33 pm today(May 31st) I got a call from someone who didn't identify themselves stating I could come pick up my doors whenever I wanted. I explained to her that I spoke with an associate earlier today and already arranged delivery. This person stated that there was no delivery attached to my order and that I never specified I wanted delivery and that I didn't pay for it. Bottom line I am going to Lowes next time. I'm a contractor, I've been to countless home depots, and this location is just horrendous. I've shopped here 5 times in the last year and on every occasion I've found the same complete incompetence. No here one cares about the quality of the job their doing period. So last month in October I went in to get some shelving and some other supplies so I realized the next morning I had the wrong shelves I returned them but instead of the young lady giving me back my receipt she disposed of it and me not thinking about it went and got some other shelves. Later that day I had to return something worse from the original receipt and I'm looking and looking for it not able to find it I still went back to the store. This tall African older gentleman was there I explained him this long story like I just did here and do you know what he did. This employee went into the trash dumbed it out looking for my receipt and found it and completed my return. He went above and beyond, I have never experienced such dedication to the job. I'm dropping out of Home Depot School!!! Worst thing I hate most is wasted time and home depot has done that for the last time! I am someone who takes pride in doing things on my own instead of paying some other person who probably would over charge me to do. With that said I'm learning how to repair little things at home, so when I discovered about the DIY (Do It Yourself) workshops I quickly hoped on board. I went 4 times and I'm done! Why? They are not organized and no worker knows any better they just know how to point to someone else who can't help. A quick description of my experiences with the 4 workshops: 4/11/15 1pm Vertical Gardening The classes started a half hour late and no organization. Who knows if the class would of even started if I did not make a big stink about it. 4/12/15 1pm How to install tiles This class was awesome, on time and organized. 4/19/15 1pm How to install toilets There was no class. No worker wanted to work that day I may of woke up the guy who was supposed to do the class. At this point I have wrote a letter to corp. expressing my bad experiences with this store and they have done a great job and in reaching out to me to try and fix this flaw. I have even received a phone call from Miriam the manager of this location adamant on meeting me. She said she'd be there on the weekend, so I agreed to meet her due to the fact that I wanted to do the DIY landscaping workshop on 4/25/15. 4/25/15 10am Landscaping I arrived on time to no class. A deep feeling was that I knew that was going to happen due to their horrible customer service track record. Workers already recognize me and know why I'm there. I asked for Miriam by name and she's not there. You would think the girl would suggest for another manager, but she just looks at me with a dumb look. I asked who's here then? She said Oscar might be here and did not even suggest if I needed him. I just wanted an education and I knew it wasn't happening without more time being killed if I made a bigger stink with Oscar. I feel like the girlfriend of the cheating spouse who promises that he will never do it again, than it happens.
