I'm sure this post is going to get a bunch of "okay Karen" comments but I really don't care. I have been in the process of ordering doors, having them installed and delivered for 6 months. It has been an absolutely awful experience. I had an instal scheduled for 2/6/2021. The installation tech came out to do the measurements and only measured one of my two doors. I asked him why he couldn't measure the second door and he said there was no hinges on the door and he won't do an install if there are no hinges. I asked to please measure anyway so I can at least have the measurements in the system thinking maybe the store could suggest something. He still refused. I went into the store on 2/13/21 and spent about an hour trying to find someone to help me. When I finally got someone willing to do their job I was informed that on the second door that the service tech refused to measure could support a BI-fold door but because there were no measurements in the system I would need the tech to come out again. The associate helped me schedule this appointment and helped me order door number one which was supposed to be delivered. The second measurement couldn't take place until March 13th. After the second measurement occurred I went back into the store on March 20th and it took me over 2 hours to get the door ordered again because I had to run around the store and flag someone down to help me. I kept getting passed around from person to person until I finally got a hold of a manager. I got my second door ordered and asked if I could have both doors delivered at the same time. The manager assured me this wouldn't be a problem and that they could hold door one until the second door was ready. Anyways today (May 31st) I get a voicemail from an associate stating that both doors are ready to be delivered. Before I could call her back I got a call from a different associate to schedule my delivery. I arranged to have delivery occur on June 11th. I thought everything was fine but of course it wasn't. At 5:33 pm today(May 31st) I got a call from someone who didn't identify themselves stating I could come pick up my doors whenever I wanted. I explained to her that I spoke with an associate earlier today and already arranged delivery. This person stated that there was no delivery attached to my order and that I never specified I wanted delivery and that I didn't pay for it. Bottom line I am going to Lowes next time. This review is predominantly about my service. So last month in October I went in to get some shelving and some other supplies so I realized the next morning I had the wrong shelves I returned them but instead of the young lady giving me back my receipt she disposed of it and me not thinking about it went and got some other shelves. Later that day I had to return something worse from the original receipt and I'm looking and looking for it not able to find it I still went back to the store. This tall African older gentleman was there I explained him this long story like I just did here and do you know what he did. This employee went into the trash dumbed it out looking for my receipt and found it and completed my return. He went above and beyond, I have never experienced such dedication to the job. Even after the return he assisted me in locating replacement legs for my sofa that the movers crushed. read more

It's a Sunday evening and I'm moving overseas the following Wednesday. Three days before my belongings are being picked up, I noticed I needed a few more heavy-duty totes to put my things in, because moving is tough and sometimes one underestimates how many things they really have. The express delivery on HomeDepot.com seemed easy enough-- the website said they would call me within a half-hour of arrival and then again when the delivery arrived, which seemed very manageable given I didn't have much left to pack and two days would be adequate time. I ordered the next-day delivery, was given a delivery window of 8 am to 8 pm on Monday, which is a super long delivery zone, but since the website states I should be getting a phone call within 30 minutes of delivery, this is fine. Monday passes and there is no phone call, and then it's 8 pm and my order hasn't arrived. I check the order tracking online and it says that my order was delivered and signed for. I live on a busy NYC street, and it appears the delivery person let some random person on the street sign for and take my order. Ok, so that's terrible, but terrible mistakes happen even under the best of circumstances and I still have another day before my moving boxes are scheduled to be picked up. I call the store, am on hold for an hour and a half (two hours counting the half hour I was on before being disconnected), and I'm given a refund even though I'm told that I'm "really not supposed to get a refund under these circumstances." I re-order the three totes and pay 35 dollars for same-day delivery for Tuesday because now I only have a day left before my movers show up Wednesday morning. I also pay 20 dollars for the two-hour delivery window of 8 am to 10 to guarantee maximum time to finish packing, meaning I've spent more on delivery than the actual shipping containers at this point. I don't stress about this until it's 10:30 and there has no been no phone call from Home Depot saying they're on their way. Then 11 and 12 pass, and I call the store, am on hold for another forty minutes before being told that the delivery person has just left. At 3, the delivery woman arrives and calls me to let me know she's downstairs. There is one tote out of three. The delivery woman is great and I love her, she deserves a raise and a promotion; she's the real MVP because she tells me truth without my even prompting her, saying that the store is so disorganized that they couldn't even find the other two totes despite there being a bunch on stock, and that they nearly sent me one tote I did get without a lid until she went into the storeroom and found the lid. She says the store said there's no way that the rest of my stuff is going to get to me that day because they can't find the specific storage totes I ordered despite their being plenty in stock, and I need to call the store and set things straight. I don't care about the specific brand of totes, I just need them, so I call and am on hold for a half hour before being disconnected again. At this point I discover the live chat feature on the website, so I use that, they get in touch with the store and say that I shouldn't worry, the rest of my order is back out for delivery, and while they can't give a specific time, it will arrive that day. 8 pm Tuesday night comes and there is no delivery again. Now my only option is to get up at 6 am and call the store to ask what the deal is. I call at 6 am, I'm on hold for a half hour before I talk to an employee who takes my number down and tells me the delivery driver is about to go out, but that he has a lot of early delivers and will try to fit me in somewhere and that they'll call me back in a half an hour. So I'm writing this review an hour and a half later, nobody has called, my movers are showing up in an hour and a half, and I highly doubt anyone is going to show up with my totes. And that's why I will never use this company for anything at all ever again. Also, the online delivery tracker is ridiculous. It's now the day after my delivery should have arrived, and the tracker says it's "on schedule." Cool. read more

Went to buy an 8' ladder, no biggie. $3.00 to park, OK it's New York. But I had to sort though about 5 ladders in the pile before I could find one that wasn't bent or damaged. Not just a scratch, I'm talking a leg completely twisted until it was almost broken off. These are aluminum ladders, what the heck are they doing to them? Then only one real cashier, which was a drag as I couldn't use self checkout. But the cashier was nice at least. read more

TO START OFF THEY does not SEEM TO BE EGER TO MAKE MONEY, clearly things can't sell from inside the stock room ... the floor is empty with no associates I nearly waited 45 minutes for someone to help me out with a simple item ... when I finally got help the guy from flooring was really nice but he needed assistance from a supervisor named Carlos .. which was very rude ... he was having a full blown conversation with a customer that had nothing related to work as the flooring guy is waiting for him to assist me for 30 minutes.. when the flooring guy asked him if he could hurry a bit he was upset sucked his teeth as he was bothered by the comment..management should look into getting more people on the floor instead of partying in the stock room. read more

DO NOT DO IN STORE PICKUP. I ordered a medium sized mini fridge for in store pickup at 11 am. I thought "hey it'll be easier to just grab it and go instead of having to go get it off the shelf myself and wheel it over to checkout." So I keep checking my email throughout the day and it still says processing. By 4 pm it still isn't ready. So I go to the store. It's 5:15 now and my order still isn't ready. It's been 6 HOURS. So I go to the pickup counter. The line is ridiculously long because it's for pickups AND returns. The line is also in front of the door so it's almost impossible to be keeping your distance from anyone. Finally, it's my turn to speak with one of the 2 associates at the pickup line and I sow here the order. She then TELLS ME TO GET THE FRIDGE BY MYSELF AND BRING IT THERE. Excuse me? I ordered in store pickup because I have a bad back and I cannot pick up a fridge. I tell her this and she says that she can't leave the counter. So now I have to go all the way to aisle 36 (she didn't even tell me where the fridge was located) and do it myself. I managed to get it out of the shelf because I had my girlfriend with me. We go back to the pickup counter and great now the line has doubled. Thank god for this one associate who was there and recognized us from before. SHE GETS 5 STARS. she noticed us and asked why we came back and we explained it to her. She immediately took us off the line and helped us heralded and got us out super quick. I never got her name but she was awesome. But the fact that it even had to come to that was ridiculous. Don't do in store pickup. They suck with that. read more

This place is unbelievable. I purchased 5 gallons of evening white behr paint from them a week ago. After using all the paint and having a hallway and one bedroom left, I returned to purchase two gallons more. I found the same evening white card with bar code and asked the lady at paint for two gallons. After going home painting half the bedroom and hallway, I realized that the colors weren't drying the same as before. Low and behold it turns out, they gave me EVERYDAY WHITE not EVENING WHITE as I had asked for. Perhaps I made a mistake but no, I pulled out the same card I gave her at the time and clearly it states evening white. I went back and thankfully had it changed What I didn't get back is the 30 bucks in extra taxi cost as well as the extra time I had to spend repainting over the previous areas. And to make things worse after finishing (this was supposed to be the second coat) there are streaks of EVERYDAY WHITE all over and I'll have to spend another few hours doing yet another touch up. Bought a gas stove from them. They were supposed to take away the old stove and install the new one. The sales person failed to put that in and apparently we did pay for that. When we asked for them to do it, they don't install a gas stove that they sell anymore after we were told it was $139.00 to get it installed. What's wrong with them. I came here to get things for a DIY project, i knew what i was looking for cuz the website help you to locate the isle in the store you want, so i went straight to the isle and the item wasn't there, but the website tell me that they have 15 in the store, so i call a guy for help and he told that he doesn't work and that isle, and i said to my self ok lets get someone else, i found another guy by the registers and i told him what i needed, he told me to go back to the isle that the item its supposed to be there, or i can ordered it online why online if i was in the store at the moment, and i said thats it, i got so angry, i shout to the guy that because of they negligence they have so many bad reviews, and i left with nothing but frustration. read more

Everyone in here needs a lesson on customer service. Every single time I asked an associate for something they finished their conversation with their coworker or whatever it is they were doing before answering or helping. I came here twice for lumber to be cut and their cutting machine was out. How do they have tools to rent and everything needed to repair the machine (like the "blade that allegedly went out) but some how can't help? Even better I was pointed to the set cutting station where every single saw was dull. Every time I come here I regret it. Associates just talk amongst themselves getting paid to hang out at work. They're so lucky the stores in manhattan don't cut wood. read more

I rarely review anything, but this place deserves a review. I placed an order for express delivery, for context I rescued a small pet from a horrific situation and needed to make a makeshift cage while the pet was healing. I express delivery ordered a large sterilite bin, some wire mesh and cutters for the wire. I ordered this on 5/27 (memorial day I know but I was panicked). I paid an extra $11 for it to be delivered on Tuesday 5/28 from 2-6pm, I took the day off of work in order to be home for this. WELL, after being on hold with the store for over an hour, and simultaneously chatting with a representative on their site I finally got an email that they rescheduled my delivery to Wednesday 5/29. I wasn't going to be able to take another day, so I had to wait an additional 30 minutes on hold to reschedule the deliver through the store. Once I did, the woman who I spoke to was very rude, unapologetic and generally didn't care. I ended up rescheduling the delivery anyways as I needed these items ASAP and could not go out to a store to purchase + lug home on public transit. Anyway to try and make a long story shorter, my delivery was 2+ hours late AND they delivered the sterilite bin without the lid! NO LID ON THE STORAGE BIN I PURCHASED ~ THAT MAKES THE BIN USELESS! I then called customer service AGAIN, and explained the situation. He stated they were out of the lids, and there weren't going to be anymore in the store until Monday. In this case I would need to go to the store on Monday and pick up the lid myself (WHICH DEFEATS THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF PAYING AN EXTRA $11 TO HAVE SOMETHING DELIVERED). I explained this is not an option for me, so he stated he could partially refund me for the bin, and then HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and was placed on hold for ANOTHER HOUR, and finally gave up in this long saga... I'm not picky, I don't complain often, I used to work in retail ~ I get it. But this is absolutely INSANE, please do not support this store nor this location! Go to your local hardware store instead, this place is TRASH! read more

Giving this 5 star review to Kris... nothing wrong with home depot. But Kris has made me experience here more than wonderful. First time i met Kris was about 6 weeks ago, i was shopping for tiles by myself she helped me with all my questions and was super knowledgeable. On top of this, i asked if the tiles could be carried to my car because i couldnt lift anything since i was in a car accident like a month before. (I look perfectly healthy and strong enough to carry this myself) Kris did not question me and pushed my cart to the register, then pushed it to my car, and loaded everything into my car. I know i said thanks when it happened. But i just wanted everyone to know that Kris made my experience a pleasure at this home depot. Kris is a rockstar. read more

Unbelievable. After being spoken to rudely by one of their employees and biting our tongue, my partner and I bought a 24-inch standing fan and carried it back to our apartment in Manhattan. We open it up and realize this fan has clearly been used before. It is not only completely broken on the sides but does not even turn on. Shame on Home Depot for not checking their products that customers are returning. Now, I have to make a special trip in an Uber back to the location but trust that this time, I'll be having them open the box and testing it out before I leave the store with it. read more

I love HD, but this location is probably one of the worst. The staff don't offer any help locating things you are looking for. TBH they don't seem very happy working there. The check out counters are long and understaffed. The cutting center is always out of order and they don't care about your concern or complaint. I live in the neighborhood and wish HD did more to staff and serve this location better. Until they do, I will be going to Midtown East HD or other local stores. read more

This place needs to fire everyone and rehire an entire new staff. First off, not one employee acknowledged me when I was clearly looking for help. The tension and bad energy in this store is so thick it could be cut with a knife. I went to the paint desk and waited around with a crowd of people. The guys in the paint pit were too busy hitting on some girls to even acknowledge me. I asked a guy that wouldn't stop to talk to me them if they could match a swatch of paint I had. He looked me up and down for about 6 seconds and finally said yeah with an attitude. Waiting for my paint one of the guys was making Instagram videos while other people were waiting in line for service. The guy in the window/door section had no idea what fogged window tint was. It's pretty self explanatory. He didn't even know that they had window tint. He was also very uninterested in my questions about finding some items I needed. I ran into another employee and asked him if he could help me but he said, No I'm clocking out" as he walked away and didn't even make eye contact during his answer... Finally at check out the cashier was clearly high and was scanning each item twice which caused major issues and delays. The other girl at checkout shut her register down with a line of 5 people. No warning and didn't even notify the line that she was shutting down. Finally a Manager checked me out without saying a word to me after I said hi. She handed me my receipt and said Merry Christmas like a robot. The only thing this store does well is stock and organize it's products neatly. That's all. read more

So I just left Home Depot this location....as I'm already on the outside of the door walking down the side walk. I hear some one "yelling" or not really yelling but like trying to get my attention , "excuse me ma'am! Excuse me ma'am"! I turn around the little security guard Spanish chick asking to check my receipt. Keep in mind the attendant was right there when I used the express Chex out because she needed to check my ID to give me my military discount.... So I after I walk back the 30 feet to the door the security guard ask to check my receipt. I asked her if there was a problem? She says no did a receipt come out of the machine? I said yes. So she checked my receipt and didn't Check what was in my bag???? What was that about? Way to insult the customers!! Tacky!! I won't be retiring back to this site! I like the one down on 59th street. Wow, horrible horrible service. People who work here have not a clue what they are doing! If you need to order flooring, customized blinds, good luck. You'll be waiting for a long arse time for incompetent "team members" who can or rather can't care less. If that order you NEEDED isn't coming in, they will not notify you. You will have to visit multiple times and be on top of them to get anything customized done. You better hope you live close by because you'll be practically working for them. read more

I have shopped at numerous Home Depot locations and this one has to be the absolute worst. My hubby and I went to this location yesterday to pick up something we needed. We asked if they had this item in stock. We were told by two employees that the item was not in stock. For some reason I did not believe what they told me. So my husband and I went to look anyway. Guess what? We found the item that they claimed was not in stock. To add insult to injury, they only had two cashier lanes open despite there being like 40 people waiting to check out. I ordered 4 appliances in the first week of May. In the following nearly 4 months, HD tried four times to hit a 7-hour delivery window in my building. Epic fail. Since, by their own admission they just couldn't figure out how to get four appliances from a warehouse in New Jersey to the Bronx, they canceled my orders and returned all items to the vendors. So. This Home Depot management needs to get it together. They have no carts. They said people steal them so if u want one u have to go walk around the parking garage to see if u find one. Are u kidding me? Don't all these other places have locking mechanisms on their carts that prevent that? Yes they do! I will NEVER come back here ever. Broken display and got upset because I asked for the other one. It was dirty and a DISPLAY. Most places give you at least 10% off. This is the place I have over the past three years been able to purchase almost all the items I needed to get that I could not find at my beloved neighborhood hardware store. I very recently had a very good experience with an online purchase and in-store pickup that was subsequently followed up by an in-store set of planned purchases, which is what I imagine is the desired effect for an experience. The employees were seamlessly helpful. I see other reviews complaining about a lack of attentive customer care, which I cannot wholeheartedly agree with. As with most stores in a place like New York City, there is almost always a perception that there are not enough staff for the clients that need to be served, but like in most places, the personnel at this Home Depot, for the most part, do a good job attending to customers in a very complex inventory set. My belief is that the employees could use a more up to date system for initially placing the items, and then subsequently locating the item when a customer needs it. This is something that needs to be implemented at the corporate level and then would lend significantly to alleviating not only customer misgivings but also employee stress with not being able to do their jobs as efficiently as they could otherwise do it. I will go on to say that, very probably the people who are whining about what is not being done for them are themselves true loafers at their own jobs, and should all around grow-up, and start making constructive contributions with useful ideas and themselves becoming useful doing what needs to be done on their jobs and in their own lives. Kudos to the majority of The Home Depot employees doing a good job serving the customers, and especially so at the Exterior Place store in the Bronx in New York City. read more

OMG!!!! No stars. I called and asked if they had an item that is difficult to find but was told by another store that outside of NYC is my best bet, I thought I should call first. "ALEX" fake name, had me on the phone for over 45mins looking for the item and said plenty were in stock. Went all the way there to find out that NO the item is not there and there is NO Alex in the store!!!!!! WTF?! If managers are reading this - what kind of nonsense is that!?!?! I HATE HOME DEPOT. Although the salespeople here are more helpful than your average NYC Home Depot (which doesn't say that much), the cart situation is such a DISASTER that I have to take off 3 stars. Most of the time you cannot find any sort of cart. Management is aware of this but has chosen to ignore the issue. In addition there is a $3.00 parking fee which is annoying. Update: December 2013. The cart situation has improved. It's not cart heaven, but at least you have a chance of getting a cart now. I'm raising my review to 3 stars from 1 read more

I can't find a single thing wrong with this excellent Home Depot. You do have to pay for parking, but WHO CARES because there's parking on 5 levels. This location is as near to Manhattan as possible without actually being in the city. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful and their prices are what you'd find in the burbs'. This review is for the paint department. I have now been waiting in line for my paint for an HOUR. There is no organization to the way they're mixing. They have no idea what colors they've already done or what people are waiting for. There are 30 people standing here waiting. The workers are moody and rude. They lost my card and I had to go find it again and that was a half hour ago. They just came back over and asked for my color card again. I said I handed it to you a half hour ago!! Do NOT get paint mixed here. Support your local businesses and avoid this place at all costs!! read more

This store is by far the most piece of crap store I been to. I was buying a double drill set of Dewalt drills w the bits to go with and as I was in the self scan machine I put $200 to pay for my items. The machine kept saying to see attendant, I call her and she sees I had 200$ in there but the machine won't spit it out, she supposably said she was gonna give me back my money she just seen me insert in the machine. Little do I find out she's trying to rob me!!! She had a guy go and verify if I put the $$$ then they said the 100$ bill and five 20$ I put in weren't there all that and the security guard seen everything happening as I finished my purchase the security guard is going to ask me to see my receipt...
