7/14/2024- In town and stopped in to do an online return.. Few customers in front, but cashiers were fairly quick. Customers seem to be happy. Glad to stop in.

I just want to thank Kathryn at the customer service desk for her help she handled our purchase so well and was so kind and helpful even though it was very time consuming

Part of the trick is knowing "how to" Home Depot. Outfits like this are not the place to go to get complicated questions answered. Your local ACE or hardware is better staffed for that. If you know just what you need, you're in great hands. Turnover at HD or Lowes is astronomically high. Folks aren't around long enough to become experts. If they are, they get transferred into whatever department is lacking. They also want employees to get familiarized with the store and product to increase sales. Employee retention is such a large problem due to the substandard treatment and lower wages they receive. An enormous revolving door. Having worked with a couple of these firms not too long ago, I can attest. As far as product goes, this is a wonderful location. Being the size that they are, they have a gigantic selection at better than competitive prices. I'm not ecstatic at the brand names they have, but if you wait, in time they change. Their buyers are keen enough to make great deals which many times are passed on to the consumer for retention sake. That being said, they may contract with Black and Decker today and have Dewalt on the shelves next year. Overall, it's a great shopping experience when it comes to hardware products, appliances, tools, BBQ grills and more. You can even get car batteries. I've compared cost and this HD is much better than the competition up the street. People seem much friendlier, too. I recently purchased 3 ceiling fans and had trouble separating a part on one of them. I brought the part back to the service desk and they called an assembler from the back who had me fixed and back on the road in a minute. I've seen the operation from both sides and from a consumer standpoint it's a no-brainer that this is my go to home improvement center

I will NEVER purchase an appliance here again. After the appliance was 3 weeks and I paid extra to have the old appliance taken away. The guy said he was simply to Do it. Left the box and drove off. I called the manager who basically said "that kinda stuff happens" and "to call back on Monday if I want a refund but we're not sure if we do that sort of thing, you may have to call the company who delivered it." So we figure we'll just instal it ourselves. But after we open it the door of the appliance is completely dented in. Terrible products, terrible customer service, will take your money, give you broken items and won't return your money. I guess Home Depot can just steal peoples money and get away with it.

First associate tried 50-70 pulls without any luck, and then called another guy to help. He finally got it started after 30-40 pulls. Turned it off, and told me it was perfect so they were done. I own four other Stihl gas tools and use them frequently, so was of course surprised by his response and couldn't believe he was serious. Told him so and when he didn't offer any other solution threw in a "you must be ........ing crazy" and got told to leave. Luckily, I called Stihl west coast headquarters and they arranged a warranty service at another company. They sent it to repair and ended up only being flooded. So kind of my fault in part for reading the owners manual which states to pump the primer 10 times, which surprised me to begin with, but showed differently by the repair shop. Case closed, but certainly should have been handled better by this Ace Hardware. Was told they are all independently owned so won't hold it against all the other Ace Hardware stores I use and love. Never shopping here again though. End of report.

Title: Unfair Treatment & Community Disappointment at Kings Beach Ace…read more I've been shopping at this Ace Hardware for 6-7 years as a loyal customer. Unfortunately, my experience recently has been nothing short of disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly, humiliating. It began when I returned an item (a Dewalt angle grinder) and was told I couldn't receive my refund in cash because it was over $100. I was told to wait for a check. When I waited to speak to the assistant manager at the back of the store, he informed me we needed to speak with the store manager Shera -- who also happens to be his wife -- about an unspecified issue. Shera had previously made me extremely uncomfortable years ago when she followed me closely around the store while she was still just an employee. It was so unsettling that I had to report it to the store manager at the time. That issue was supposedly resolved. I believe her behavior may have stemmed from an unrelated misunderstanding that occurred over six years ago--long before Shera was even working there. I personally resolved that misunderstanding with the store owner, and we left things on good terms. However, once Shera became the new manager and appointed her husband as assistant manager, the situation shifted. It feels as though old, irrelevant history was used against me, and their personal feelings began interfering with my ability to shop at my local hardware store. I was then told by the assistant manager that I had been watched on camera by him the entire time I was shopping and he believed I was behaving "suspiciously" -- stating things like me picking up an item and putting it down in a different aisle/ location and looking at my phone while shopping. Apparently, those things were "weird" he said followed by me no longer being welcome or allowed to shop at their establishment moving forward. It was apparent, based on personal feelings, they had been trying to find any reason to remove me And were tired of waiting. A employee even once pulled me aside and admitted that every time I entered, staff talked about me over their radios making negative comments and taking turns watching me as I shopped. Now, I have to drive 20+ minutes to another store, and in a small town like Kings Beach, this kind of treatment -- especially with word getting around -- is extremely damaging and embarrassing.

I'm surprised she hasn't gotten fired for her bad attitude. Trying to do a return, find something they don't have or any issues you basically have she turns on you. I've seen her yell at staff and I literally dread going in there. MoMo is the only one I like dealing with. They also send me coupons in the mail and every time I try to use them they either say it doesn't apply or they don't have the item and won't offer a replacement of similar value. Why send coupons then?! Their prices are also very high. I also don't trust them to mix my paint as I've had them mess up before on it and then won't let me return it even when it's not open. Would not recommend Benjamin Moore. It has not been able to cover existing paint even after multiple coats of primer. Do yourself and favor and go to Sherwin Williams in Truckee and Ace in Incline.

Sure, they are not known for top-notch quality, but for many things when the item will be used only sparingly, or for things like scissors or tape measures that really can't fail, this is the place to go. I would not recommend them for anything electronic, electric or expensive though, like generators, drills, reciprocating saws, pneumatic tools, engine cranes, etc. In the past, I have bought things like microfiber clothes for cleaning, inexpensive12-volt battery/alternator testers, gloves, padlocks, scissors, tape measures, magnetic flashlights, wire brushes, carabiners, hitch pins, super glue, power strips, and batteries (both regular and specialty electronic types, like for key fobs or tire pressure gauges). I've never been disappointed. The store has always been clean, brightly lit, well organized, and with plenty of employees on hand to help you. The one time I had a return, they even exchanged it for me without my receipt. Other times, when I had a coupon, which they always do in their emails and flyers, and it wouldn't scan from my phone, the cashier had one on hand to scan instead. So they are very customer-service oriented. Parking has always been easy in the plaza's large parking lot, and they are on the main drag (N. Carson St.), so access is easy. They also expanded their hours a few years ago, to 8 PM Monday-Saturday (and to 6 PM Sundays), when they used to close at 6 PM I think.
